Chapter 136
When Giles smashed through the wall he found Buffy and her friends cowering in fear. Willow and Tara however were kissing. It took a few seconds for Giles to convince everyone that they were safe now. Whatever unseen force had been threatening them was gone now.
Buffy: What happenned?
Giles: Angel came by, he told me you were in danger from Gachnar.
Buffy: How did he know? Also, who's Gachnar?
Giles: Angel just said his sources told him. Gachnar is a demon of fear. Gachnar manifested your fears so he could feed off your fear. If Gachnar feed enough it will become strong enough to manifest and become physical.
Buffy: If it comes I can fight it right?
Giles then showed Buffy the picture of Gachnar from his book. Gachar looked frightening indeed. There was an inscription next to Gachnar's image, but it was in Latin.
Buffy: How do we stop Gachnar?
Giles: We should leave, not allow Gachnar any more people to feed off. He becomes physical only by your fears, or if his symbol is destroyed. Where is the mark of Gachnar?
They looked around, then saw the wood with parts of the mark on it. It seemed that when Giles put a hole in the wall he accidentally destroyed the mark of Gachnar. Buffy looked around, she couldn't see anything. The she looked down, Gachnar was on the floor, and tiny. Gachnar tried to still act frightening, noone was impressed. Willow actually thought he looked cute. Xander taunted Gachnar, spoke to him as if Gachnar was a baby. Giles advised against this, not because Gachnar could hurt them, it just seemed tacky. Giles looked at his book again, and read the inscription next to Gachnar's image. It translated as "actual size." Buffy called Dawn with her cellphone, just to be safe. Giles figured he could easily kill Gachnar, but he could be more dangerous when he could control what they saw, rather than as a tiny physical being. Also they still wanted to know who summonned Gachnar. For now Giles brought Gachnar back to his apartment and put him in a birdcage.
