Chapter 33 Dream Awakening

Prismo, Time Master and Cosmic Owl starred at the unconscious heroes. Hexo let out an insane laugh.
"What did you do brother?" Demanded Prismo.
"Oh I just put the heroes down for a little nap. I'll wake them up once the time curse on my weapon has worn out and then I'll wake them up just in time to see the world and everything they care about go bye bye." Said Hexo as he walked over to the Ultimate Destroyer.
"I should have know., you would have pulled a trick like this!" Spat Prismo.
"Oh please it was strategy. You think I'm just going to let a small group of heroes stop me from completing my master plan? No way! I've worked to hard and long for this! You ruined my last plan and I'm not going to have this plan ruined!" Declared Hexo as he turned away.
"Our only hope is that the heroes wake up and defeat Hexo." Said Time Master.
"Good luck with that! They'll only wake up when I tell them to." Said Hexo.
The minds of Finn, Jake, and Flame Princess were sharing the same dream. They each woke up in their own beds in Ooo looking confused. All three remembered their past battles with Hexo's forces and decided to head towards the Candy Kingdom were they met up.
"Hey Flame Princess do you remember fighting some creep called Hexo?" Asked Finn.
"I do, but then I woke up in bed as if I was dreaming." Said Flame Princess.
"That's weird." Said Jake.
At that moment Princess Bubblegum walked up to them.
"Good morning." She greeted.
"Hey Bubblegum do you remember a guy named Hexo?" Asked Finn.
"I don't know what you mean. I've never heard that name before." Said Bubblegum.
"That can't be right! We've been fighting his minions for days!" Said Finn as he told Bubblegum about all the battles they had.
Bubblegum just looked confused.
"I can safely say that none of that stuff has happen. You must of dreamt the whole thing." She said as she walked off.
"That's really weird." Said Jake.
"No this can't be right. I know it wasn't a dream it was all to real." Said Finn as he started to walk away. "Come on we have to find Simon and Marceline."
The group went off towards Marceline's house unaware that the essence of The Lich was following right behind them.
In Simon's mind he woke up in bed next to Betty, he put on his glasses and stumbled through the darkness to the bathroom and flipped on the lights and looked at the mirror.
"What the bread balls!" Cried Simon as he saw his reflection.
It was his old face the one he had before he came in contact with the crown. Betty walked I wearing her pajamas with a look of concern on her face.
"What's wrong Simon? Did you have another weird dream?" She asked.
Simon walked past and look around, he couldn't believe it, he was back in the apartment where he and Betty had lived before the war.
"This can't be real! This is all gone!" Said Simon as he waved his arms around.
"What are you talking about?" Asked Betty looking confused.
"This is supposed to be all gone. It...got destroyed...in the war. I'm supposed...to have...blue skin...a long nose...and a white beard and hair." Said Simon.
"Sounds like you've been watching to many war and Christmas specials." Said Betty.
"This isn't how the way things are supposed...to be. I lost you...and the war destroyed everything...I found a small girl...named Marceline and raised her as...my daughter. I...lost my mind...and got it back...and then you were brought back into my life." Said Simon.
"Ok...I think you need to take a deep breath and relax. Why don't I fix us some tea that'll help you relax." Said Betty as she walked off towards the kitchen.
"Ok." Said Simon as he looked around confused.
Then an idea came to his mind, he rushed off to where he kept his artifacts and found the crown and picked it up.
"I hope that wasn't a dream that's was trying to warn me not to put this crown on. But I must take the risk. Either it was all a dream or something else is afoot." Said Simon as he took a deep breath a put the crown on expecting to feel the power of the crown or hear the voice of Iceen in his head.
Nothing happened. Simon blinked and took the crown off staring at it in utter confusion. Betty walked carrying two cups of tea.
"I see your messing around with that old thing again. You really do look good it. It makes you look like a real king." Said Betty as she handed Simon a cup.
"Betty...is a war fixing to break out?" Asked Simon.
"No! What are you talking about the United States and Russia made peace with each other. There's no war or anything." Said Betty.
Simon sipped his tea and thought for a moment before heading towards his closet.
"I think I need some fresh air. I'm just going out for a walk." Said Simon as he changed into some clothes.
"Alright you go do that." Said Betty.
Simon got dressed and left the apartment.
In the mind of Marceline, she woke up in a bed in a strange room, she saw a window with the curtains down and walked towards it. She stopped in front of it and opened the curtains letting in some sunlight and showing a neighborhood outside her window. Marceline let out a gasp and stumbled backwards from the sunlight, but instead of the sunlight burning like it would normally did it just felt warm and pleasant. Marceline looked at her hands confused as she walked towards the window and looked outside. She couldn't believe her eyes, it was her old neighborhood.
"This can't be right! It's all long gone!" Said Marceline as she went to the bathroom and turned the lights on looking at herself in the mirror.
It was her teenage face, but their were no bite marks in her neck. Marceline changed clothes and went downstairs, where she was met by a startling sight. Marceline's biological mother Linda was cooking eggs over a stove, she looked up and smiled at Marceline.
"Good morning sweetie." Said Linda.
"Mom! Your...alive!" Gasped Marceline as she was overcome with emotions.
She went over to Linda and threw her arms around, her and hugged her. Linda returned the hug.
"Well this is a nice surprise." Said Linda.
"Mom...it's just good to see you...again, but how...can this be? The...war happened...and you died." Said Marceline.
"What's...this nonsense about a war and me being dead? The countries are at peace. There's no war or threat of war." Said Linda.
"But...it happened. I was little and I...met this man named Simon who raised me and...then I became a vampire...and life started to return to the world." Said Marceline.
"You sure do have an active imagination, you get that from me. I...know it's tough not having your father around...very often, but he dose care for us, he loves you deep down." Said Linda.
"Um...I need to clear my head. I'll just go for a walk." Said Marceline as she headed for the door.
"Alright just be careful and get back here before supper." Said Linda as Marceline went outside and headed towards town.
In the real world Hexo starred at the Ultimate Destroyer as the timer for the time curse clicked closer to the end.
"Hey what is that Lich dude up to in Finn's head?" Asked Cosmic Owl.
"Oh I suppose, his off to torture Finn and give him the worst nightmare in history. After all the trouble Finn's caused him I can understand his motive for revenge perfectly." Said Hexo as he continued to stare at the Ultimate Destroyer. All of a sudden his face shifted into a scowl. "That can't be right. The separate dreams of Simon and Marceline are some how merging. They shouldn't be able to do that! Oh I'll just have to fix that." He said as, he went into some kind of trance.
In the minds of Finn, Jake, and Flame Princess the heroes had just arrived at Marceline's house and were fixing to enter it, when suddenly it exploded sending the heroes flying back several yards. A huge pillar of smoke bellowed out of the destroyed house and out stepped The Lich growing larger and larger as he approached the heroes, until he smashed through the roof of the cave destroying it. All the heroes starred up at The Lich in shock.
"Hello heroes, welcome to your nightmare. Here you will spend an eternity in despair and misery. I am the master of your fate!" Boomed The Lich as he pointed a skeleton finger at the heroes.
"Eat this bone boy!" Shouted Flame Princess as she threw a fireball at The Lich.
The fireball passed through The Lich without even harming him. The heroes all gasped as The Lich let out a nasty laugh, before waving his arms and sending all the heroes flying away with a mighty gust of wind.
In the real world Hexo smiled wickedly. Three of the heroes were being dealt with now it was time to deal with Simon and Marceline.
In both Simon's and Marceline's dreams the two of them were walking through the city unaware that their dreams were merging with one another. The two of them were walking towards the first place they ever met, a toy store. The two of them arrived at the toy store at the exact same time. As they arrived they saw each other and they knew that what they thought was a dream was real.
"Marceline!" Shouted Simon as he ran towards Marceline.
"Simon!" Shouted Marceline as she raced towards Simon.
As they got closer a giant hand made of shadows slammed down and landed in between them. They looked up and saw Hexo glaring down at them.
"I don't know how you two did it, but you merged your dreams together and found each other. The rest of your friends are having the same dream is because I deemed them to. You two would be trouble, so I separated the two of you. Yet you got back together somehow. Oh well it doesn't matter I'll just crush one of you!" Said Hexo as he wrapped his hand around Marceline and began squeezing her.
Marceline screamed in pain!
"Marceline!" Cried Simon as he jumped on the giant hand and started to pry on the fingers. "You let my daughter go!" He roared as he pulled with all his might.
Hexo just laugh. Simon let out a growl opened his mouth and bite one of the fingers! Hexo let out a shout of pain and loosened his grip on Marceline. Simon grabbed her and dragged her away.
"You little rat! I'll crush you both!" Roared Hexo as he raised a fist to crush them.
Simon grabbed Marcleine in an embrace and put his body in front of hers to protect her. As he did this a strange heart shaped shield appeared around the both of them. Hexo's fist slammed into the shield and he screamed in pain as he yanked his fist away which was smoking. Simon and Marceline starred at Hexo shocked.
"What is this power?! I'm the master of this realm! How can something you two produce hurt me?!" Screamed Hexo.
All around the world was fading and warping. Simon and Marceline regained their powers. Simon looked at Hexo and let out a chuckle.
"You just don't get it. The power of love is stronger then you think. I protected my daughter because I loved. That love created that shield that hurt you. Love is stronger then hate Hexo and it will defeat you." Said Simon.
"Curse you! You ruined my dream hex! Don't you get cocky this fight is far from over!" Snarled Hexo as he vanished.
Thanks for rescuing me again." Said Marceline as she gave Simon a quick hug.
"Your welcome. It's what father do for their daughters. They protect them." Said Simon as the world around them continued to vanish.
In the dream of Finn, Jake, and Flame Princess they were all on the ground with The Lich towering over them. The Lich had a giant radioactive green fireball in his hands and was fixing to smash it down on the heroes, when all of a sudden the world started to vanish. The Lich let out a scream as his fireball vanished and he shrunk to his normal size.
"Time to put the hurt on!" Shouted Finn as he sprung up and slammed a fist into The Lich's face!
The Lich let out a scream as he exploded into light. The world around the heroes vanished.
In the real world Hexo was grasping his head in pain, one of his hands was badly injured and a look of utter shock appeared on his face as the essences of The Lich flew out of Finn's head. One by one the heroes woke up and faced Hexo.
"This is impossible! There's no way you could have beaten my dream Hex! This must be one of my brothers tricks! His making me have a dream where you broke out of my dream hex that's it." Said Hexo.
"Your not dreaming pal! Let me show you!" Shouted Finn as he charged forward and punched Hexo in the face with a super punch sending Hexo smashing painfully into a wall.
Hexo staggered to his feet wiping some black liquid from his mouth glaring at the heroes.
"Fine you managed to escape. No matter. Let the finally battle begin! I have something special for all of you!" Shouted Hexo as he grabbed the essence of The Lich and slammed it into his chest! "Now you will know true terror!"
