Chapter 148
Buffy didn't know what to think of Faith. On the one hand she was a slayer, Buffy could learn a lot from her. But she was evil, maybe Buffy shouldn't learn what Faith could teach. Buffy was searching the town, making sure there were no vampires around. Giles called it "patrolling." While Buffy was patrolling on Saturday night she contemplated this, which is what she was doing when Angel approached her. Buffy was dating Xander, if Angel wanted to date Ms Burkle that was his business.
Angel: Rumor is there's a new slayer in town.
Buffy: Yeah. Should I trust her?
Angel: You might have too. There's also a new vampire threat. His name is Spike. He fought three slayers, and he killed all of them.
Buffy: Oh goody. Is he here for me or Faith?
Angel: Neither, he's here for Drusilla. They're both dangerous.
Buffy: I take it she's his girlfriend?
Angel: Yeah, she's also insane. Spike indulges her passion for destruction, with disastorous results. I though Dru was dead, but Spike believes she's wounded and in Sunnydale.
Buffy: So if he heals Drusilla somehow it means very bad things. Even if he can't, people will die in Spike's quest.
Angel: Yeah. Which is why you might want to make Faith an ally.
Buffy: What about you? Do you want to get in the fight or just watch from the sidelines?
Angel: It's complicated. I can't really get more involved.
Buffy: No offense but "It's complicated" probably just means you're scared.
Angel: More than you know.
