Chapter 149
Jessie and Cordelia worked on their screenplay. After graduation they planned on going to Hollywood and getting this made into a movie. The odds were against them, but like most young hopefuls they believed they could make it. Besides, vampires were trendy and profitable, this script stood as good a chance as any. With the news about Faith and Spike in town this could provide Jessie and Cordelia with more inspiration. They had already changed Buffy's name to "Joan" after Joan of arc. It seemed Joan would be a more likeable name than Buffy. Cordelia and Jessie realized that a rogue slayer and a vampire trying to save his beloved, that was a more compelling story than Buffy's drama. The script would have to remove references to the new president. America was already too divided on politics. Having a main character high up in politics risked alienating more than half their audience. Pretty easy to put good music in the movie. If Lorne could get some big names like Taylor Swift or Coldplay, it was more to offer the studio heads during negotiations. Jessie and Cordelia felt pretty confident that this movie would be made, and they could make it into show business.
