Chapter 153
On Friday night Buffy was at the Bronze dancing with Xander. She had big tests on Wednesday, right before thanksgiving. Spike could pose a major threat. And according to Willow there were only 202 days until graduation. Buffy was learning to take these moments where she could, never knew when something would happen. Sure enough as Buffy and Xander were dancing she heard something that triggerred her spider-sense. A guy near them asked "Where's the phone? I have to call the police. There's some big guy outside trying to bite a girl." Buffy knew what this meant. A vampire was outside trying to eat a human. Buffy went out back, just as she thought. Buffy fought this vampire while the girl escaped. Within a minute Buffy dusted this vampire. Then she saw someone else. Buffy recognized his voice, he had been the one who had warned her. It was only now that it occurred to Buffy that he probably had a cellphone, but he clearly had no reflection. This was Spike.
Spike: Nice to see a slayer in action.
Buffy: Who are you?
Spike: Spike, maybe you've heard of me.
Buffy: I know who you are. Want to try your luck against this one?
Spike: Later. I thought you would like to know about the Harvest. It's tomorrow night.
Buffy: What's that?
Spike: Some relatives of mine are coming to town for a barbeque. You're all on the menu. Thought you might want to stop it.
Buffy: Why should I trust anything you say? Why would you want to help me.
Spike: Because if they succeed the Master will rise and screw up my plans to find Drusilla.
Buffy: Wh's the Master?
Spike: Is your watcher asleep at the switch? Okay, the Master is a very powerful and ancient vampire. If he comes back he'll create more death and destruction than even I can stand. I'm even helping a potential slayer to prevent that.
