Chapter 18

I have to leave

Kenny kicked the door open, leaving Ash and Dawn shocked with their jaws open. Ash brought up a fist, while Kenny gritted his teeth. Dawn growled seeing this ugly picture as she got up and faced Kenny.

"What are you doing here, Kenny?! And after that, you still have the guts to face me?!" Dawn screamed.

"Shut up, Dawn!" Kenny said.

"No, you shut up! And before I lose my cool…" Ash said while grabbing his collar, "Get out." He said firmly.

However, things got uglier as the least expected thing occurred. Punches landed on each other's faces, bringing great pain to both of them. Blood crept out of their hands as Ash kicked him forcefully on the head, and he landed on the floor. He moaned in pain while Ash was smirking. "Ash, what are you doing?"

"I'm teaching this guy a lesson he'll never forget!" He said, panting. "He still has the nerves to face you. How disgusting!"

Ash's hand was bleeding and Dawn quickly bandaged it to prevent infection. Kenny lied there on the floor in defeat, unconscious in his actions. Dawn held a hand to her heart and thanked Ash mentally for relieving her of her problem. She hoped it was finally over. They called the police and Kenny was arrested for assaulting a girl and threatening her.

"We heard what happened." Misty said.

"Yeah, I'm glad Kenny's finally gone. You must be relieved!" Zoey said.

"I am. Now I have nothing to worry about. Thanks to Ash-he saved me." She gestured at Ash. He blushed lightly.

"Oh, c'mon, Dawn, it was nothing." He merely said. Dawn said nothing and hugged him. Ash brought up his arms and put them around her. "I love you, Ash. I really do." She said.

"Awwwww.." Zoey and Misty cooed.

"I love you too, Dawn." Ash said.

"Awwwww!" They cooed again. Ash and Dawn gave them a dead look. They chuckled.

"What? You're saying I have to leave?" Dawn asked as she was on the phone. She was talking to her mother.

"Yes, don't you remember? This trip was made so you could see Kenny. It's time for you to come back." Her mother said. Dawn hadn't told her mom what had happened during her stay. She spent so much time with Ash that she completely forgot about this trip.

"Right-about that…a lot has happened since then. And things have changed." Dawn said making her mother curious.

"Well, whether things have changed or not, I can't live without my daughter. I'm itching for you to come back. Besides, you can't stay there forever." Her mother told her.

"I know..but you don't understand!" Dawn defended.

"Dawn, don't be childish. Come take the flight tomorrow and meet me there, ok?" Her mother said sternly but she still spoke with inches of love.

Dawn sighed in defeat, "Ok, mom. I-I'll be there." Dawn said and then bid farewell to her mother. She wondered how she was going to break the news to Ash. She never wanted to leave, but she had no other option. Could she handle another relationship at a far off distance? Ash was completely trustworthy, especially after what he did for her. She had no clue on what her next step would be.

A knock banged on her door and she quickly opened it to reveal a sad, quiet Ash.

"Hey." He tried to bring up a small smile.

"Hey, Ash. What's with the sad face?" She asked.

"I have to leave, Dawn." He said and she immediately frowned.

"W-What?"

"I was on vacation, Dawn. Time's up. I have to leave to Kanto tomorrow. I know you're upset, but-" She cut him off.

"I have to leave too." She said with a breath of relief. Ash's eyes widened. "We both know why I was here. My-my mom called and she said that I have to be on the flight to Sinnoh tomorrow." She said, her voice breaking. Ash put his head down.

"S-so this is it?" Ash asked. Tears formed in Dawn's eyes.

"I-I guess so." Dawn said, allowing her tear to fall from her face. Ash wiped it and told her not to cry.

"I don't want it to the end of us. We-we're too perfect. How am I gonna live without you?" Ash asked, cupping his hand on her face.

"I-I don't know. But you're gonna have to." Dawn said. "But at least we have today! We can spend the whole day together, just you and me." Ash smiled.

"I'd love that." He said. With that, he stroked her cheek and kissed her passionately while Dawn brought her arms around his neck for support. This was their last day together and they hoped to make it their best.

"But promise me something, Ash." Dawn said.

"What?" Ash asked, curious.

"Promise me that you won't break my heart like Kenny did. Because of you, it's mended and I don't want it broken again." She stated. Ash kissed her hand.

"I promise, Dawn. We'll be together for eternity." He said. She hugged him hearing that.

And with that they decided to spend the whole day together alone. They decided to not go on a date, but an outing to a park. They sat down on the bench eating ice-cream together while enjoying the cool breeze that made Dawn's hair blow, which made her look spectacular. They enjoyed moments like these together-it was certainly going to be a wonderful memory. Ash and Dawn took pictures sight-seeing the entire town, smiling, laughing and having a great time. In fact, this was the best moment of their life. Dawn had never spent time like this with Kenny and Ash had the most wonderful vacation together.

When the day was over, their faces had turned black and obvious to what was going to happen next and they could practically do nothing about it. Dawn had promised to write and so did Ash, with video chatting. They told Misty, Zoey and Brock about the news and even they seemed devastated. So to spend time even more, the group decided to have a sleepover.

But all of them knew what was happening next..

Ok, this was a sad chapter. Sorry for making it that way, but all of my stories will have a happy ending, so just wait for it!
