Chapter 17

Everyone was stood nervously looking at each other but then Liz said "you have some serious explaining to do, Caroline".

"I know" she tried to pass Kiara to Klaus but Kiara only tightened her grip around Caroline's neck "I guess you want to come with mummy" Kiara nodded with her dimpled smile. Caroline was about to move when she felt Klaus' grip on her waist tighten slightly. She looked up at him and said quietly so no one else could hear "its fine, nothing will happen" she leaned up and kissed him gently before moving towards her mother. As she walked past she said "follow me" and Liz followed.

Klaus, Bonnie, Abby and Rudy were all stood in a room together and they could all feel the tension that was rising. Bonnie said "who wants a drink?" they all nodded and it surprised her that even Klaus followed her into the kitchen.

Caroline, Kiara and Liz were all sat in the living room. Caroline and Kiara were sat on one couch and across from her, Liz was sat on another. Caroline placed Kiara by her side but Kiara held her hand as she was still nervous to be around Liz. Liz kept on glancing at Kiara and it made Caroline nervous "so I take it she isn't yours?" Liz said.

"I am my mummy's" Kiara said proudly.

Caroline smiled at her daughter and moved some hair out of her face before she said "she didn't mean it like that sweetie" she looked at her mother "genetically no she isn't. But I love her like she is".

Liz scoffed and said "now I at least know the reason why you're with him".

"I love him".

Liz shook her head "No you don't, not really. What did he do? Steal some kid off the street or paid for one".

Kiara understood what Liz was insinuating and she didn't like how this woman was talking about her father. Caroline said "I do and Kiara is genetically his, due to him being a hybrid he can have children".

"So she's what? Some abomination".

That word struck Caroline to the core as she hated it. Caroline knew that words like this were going to be said and she didn't want Kiara there. She looked at Kiara and said "Kiara, go to your father now" Kiara was going to argue back that she didn't want to leave her alone but she used her tribrid speed to whoosh out.

When Kiara got to her father in the kitchen she said "daddy, you have to make her go away, she is making mummy upset and angry and I don't want mummy to be like that". Klaus knelt down to her level and everyone else in the kitchen watched the scene "Mummies are supposed to make their children happy and protect them and always make them smile and laugh. Mummy's mum isn't doing that, she's upsetting mummy".

"What has she said?" Klaus said.

Kiara hesitated for a few moments before she mumbled "She said that mummy really doesn't love you" that was all Klaus needed before he stood up straight and began to walk out of the kitchen. He was followed by his daughter, Bonnie and her parents.

After Kiara left the room Caroline sneered "you have no right to call my daughter that" she stood from the couch "my daughter has done nothing wrong in this world, yet you are judging her".

Liz stood in front of her daughter "I am trying to protect you".

"Protect me from what? From Nik? All he does is protecting me and makes me happy" she shouted.

Liz shouted "from you" Caroline sent her a confused look "even when you were a little girl you never made the right decisions and you were reclose. You knew how to get in trouble but you didn't know how to get out of it. I've told you before; this is the supernatural world, Caroline. If you stay with him and one day decides to leave, then you will never be able to leave. Do you really think he will just let you go?"

"You can't judge my relationship with Nik because of how I reacted when I was a child. You never even knew me, you were never there for me and cared more about your precious job than you did about me" she then walked out of the room but was followed by Liz.

"You can't walk away from me" Liz said.

Caroline then turned around and said "I can do what I like, what do you care? You never cared about me as I child and we only got close when you found out I was a vampire and had to be murdered to be who I am today. You can say to yourself that you care about me but if you really did then you would accept my decisions. You would accept my daughter as who she is and accept that I love Nik with everything I am or... you can stay out of my life".

Just then the rest of the household came into the room and except Klaus; everyone glanced at Liz and Caroline. Klaus went straight for Caroline as he could see that she was holding back tears and when he got within arms reach of her, he pulled her into his arms. She wrapped her arms around him quickly and he said "my love, are you okay?"

He pulled away and placed a hand on her cheek as she nodded and said "I'm fine" she looked at Liz and said "she was just leaving".

"Like hell I am" Liz said and took a step forward.

"I believe if Caroline wants you to leave, then leave" Klaus said as he took a step in front of Caroline.

Liz glared at him and said "this is your entire fault, you've turned my daughter against me" before anyone could do anything Liz quickly got her gun out and fired it at Klaus.

Before Kiara even knew it she said the spell in her mind like instinct to freeze the bullet while she shouted "daddy".

Everyone was expecting the bullet to had hit Klaus but when they looked they saw that it had stopped within arms reach of his chest. The room then began to shake and everyone was wondering what was happening but then Caroline looked at Kiara and whispered "Kiara".

Kiara's eyes had turned full white and she was focusing on the bullet in the air. Klaus and Caroline ran over to her while the earth was still shaking and Klaus said "princess look at me" he then looked at Bonnie and said "what's happening? This has never happened before".

Bonnie looked at her eyes and said "she's focusing all of her emotions into her power at once and right now that emotion is anger" Bonnie then fell to the floor like the other occupants while Kiara continued to stand "you have to get her to calm down".

Caroline and Klaus knelt down on the floor in front of her and Klaus said "Kiara, remember all of your family. Uncle Elijah, Auntie Rebekah, Uncle Matt, Uncle Stefan, Auntie Bonnie, me. Remember the first time you met mummy". Kiara flinch slightly when Caroline was mentioned like she was calming down.

Caroline and Klaus smiled then she said "remember the time you ask me could you call me mummy. Remember the first time you met me, you made me a bracelet for luck" she picked up Kiara's hand and placed it onto her wrist "the bracelet that I never take off because you gave it to me" the room began to slow down. "Remember the drawing you did for me, you drew me with angel wings and I couldn't believe your talent for someone so young...remember the sun and the moon".

Kiara closed her eyes and then she collapsed onto the floor into Caroline's arms. Caroline held her on the floor and Klaus was sat beside her. The second Kiara fell the room stopped shaking and the bullet that was still in the air dropped to the floor. The door to the penthouse open and Chloe entered and said "what the hell was that?" they all looked at Kiara who is unconscious in Caroline's arms.
