Chapter 18

Everyone looked at Kiara who was in Caroline's arms but then Caroline passed her to Klaus and said "put her in bed" Klaus nodded and then he walked towards Kiara's room. Klaus was furious with himself that he let Liz's hatred for him get to the point where she would fire a gun in front of his daughter and due to Kiara stopping the bullet, it hurt her. The only thing stopping him from killing Liz was that she was Caroline's mother but there was still a voice in the back of his mind telling him that even that wasn't enough reason to let her go.

Caroline looked to the floor and shook her head. She then looked at Liz and said "Go. Now. I don't want you anywhere near my daughter again, do you understand me? Just go" Caroline then turned her back on her mother and walked towards her daughters room.

As soon as Caroline got to Kiara's room she heard footsteps go out of the front door and the front door closing. She let out a deep breath that she didn't realise she was holding and at that moment in time she felt like she never wanted to see her mother again. She pushed the door to Kiara's room open and saw that she was in bed and that Klaus was sat on a chair beside it. They both looked at each other and tried giving the other a comforting smile but failed miserably.

Caroline moved closer towards the bed but when she was about to sit down on it, Klaus grabbed her arm and pulled her towards him to sit on his lap. She smiled slightly as she thought he would be angry with her but by the way he was holding her, she knew he was the opposite. She said "I'm sorry".

"You have nothing to be sorry for".

"Yes I do. I should have stopped it from happening; I should have tried to control what my mother was saying".

Klaus sighed and said "we can't choose who are parents are" Klaus knew all too well how bad parents can be.

"And yet Kiara has two parents who both have parental issues. Great" she said sarcastically then they both laughed.

In the other room Chloe said to Bonnie "what the hell was that?"

"Kiara got a little angry".

"She has immense power Bonnie" Abby said.

Chloe narrowed her eyes and said "who are you?"

"I'm Bonnie's mother".

They shook hands and then Chloe said "and the ones who just left were?"

Bonnie said "my father and Caroline's mother".

Chloe's eyes widened but then Bonnie looked at her mother and said "why didn't you leave with them?"

Abby said "believe it or not but we did come here for a reason and it wasn't to shoot Klaus. We have information about what might be happening in Mystic Falls".

Chloe was shocked as she said "wait, Klaus was shot" she laughed slightly.

"By Caroline's mother but Kiara managed to stop the bullet" Bonnie said.

"Well I think she needs to work on her emotions".

"What do you mean?" Bonnie asked curiously.

"I was on the phone to a friend who lives in Australia when it started and she told me that it was happening there as well. Kiara managed to bring about an earthquake across the entire world at once". All three of them shared worrying looks but no once could say anything.

In Kiara's room Caroline was still sat on Klaus' lap and had her head rested on his shoulder while they both watched Kiara. They both were worrying about the consequences of what happened would be but all they cared about at that moment was for their daughter to wake up so they could see her beautiful eyes. They both watched the rise and fall of Kiara's chest and as the clocked ticked by they got more agitated by the second.

When they heard Kiara moan and her eyes started to flutter, they both jumped up and ran to her side. When Kiara saw them she said "mummy, daddy".

They both sat at either side of her bed and smiled down at her "hello princess" Klaus said.

"Are you okay, sweetie?" Caroline said.

Kiara nodded and said "I'm okay, mummy. What happened?"

Klaus and Caroline both shared worried looks then Klaus said "Kiara, do you remember what happened?"

"I remember the woman shooting at daddy" tears started to form in her eyes "I had to save him so I stopped it. The room then began to shake and I heard you talking to me but I couldn't understand then the room went black" she then looked directly at Klaus and said "are you okay, daddy?"

A tear fell from her eyes and Klaus quickly wiped it away and said "you never have to worry about me. Princess, you never put yourself in that situation again. Never protect me if you're going to get hurt, promise me".

"But daddy if I can save you then it is right".

Klaus shook his head "not if it means you getting hurt" he placed a hand on Kiara's and Caroline's and Caroline laced her fingers around his "you and your mother mean the world to me, you are my world. I can't lose a piece of my world, promise me, Kiara".

Caroline was touched by Klaus' words and at that moment in time she could truly say that she felt the same way about him and Kiara. Kiara looked down at her fathers hand on hers and she could see by the way he was holding her hand and the way he was looking at her that he never wanted to lose her and that he looked scared. Scared of losing a member of his family, two people that he loves the most and the happiness he spent of thousand years without. She wanted to make her father happy by making the promise but she knew that if the time comes, she would have to break it if it meant saving him. Family above all, always and forever was what her family said and she intended to stick to it. She blinked a few times so it looked like she was tired and said "daddy, I'm tired".

"Kiara, promise-" he was interrupted by Caroline.

"Nik, she's had a rough day. Let her rest" Klaus glanced at Kiara as she put an innocent face on and he nodded. Caroline leaned over to kiss Kiara's forehead and said "goodnight baby".

"Night, mummy, love you".

"Love you too" she stood from the bed and that's when Klaus tucked Kiara in.

Klaus kissed her forehead and as he pulled away Kiara kissed his cheek and said "I love you daddy".

He smiled and said "I love you too, my beautiful princess". Klaus and Caroline then turned the light off and walked out of the room. Kiara released a deep the breath she was holding as she didn't have to make the promise but knew that her father would eventually make her promise.
