Chapter 166

Giles was deep in research, Jenny knew this look well. She was a scholar as well, but it could still be annoying. Still, she wanted to support and help Rupert.

Jenny: Can I help.

Giles: Possibly. Buffy's friend Angel is a vampire.

Jenny: I'm sorry. Did they turn him recently?

Giles: That is the question. Buffy said she saw his reflection a month ago. But it's also possible he is another vampire. One who once went by the name Angelus.

Jenny: I've heard of him. My people used to tell me horror stories about what he did. But he'd be too old to have a reflection a month ago.

Giles: True. A vampire allied with a slayer to save his own skin is possible. So how could he have a reflection.

Jenny: There is one way, but it's unlikely him.

Giles: What do you mean.

Jenny: There is a legend. About a hundred years ago a vampire killed the beloved daughter of the leader of our tribe. My people gave him the worst possible punishment. We gave him his soul back, making sure he remembered every innocent he'd ever murdered.

Giles: If it is him, it does add up. Vampires have no reflection because they have no soul. But if Angel had his soul restored, it makes sense he'd have a reflection.

Jenny: I was never told the name of the vampire with a soul. Only that he was a particularly sadistic vampire, Angelus fits the bill. But that was over a hundred years ago, there's no indication he's ever sought redemption. He killed sadistically for over a century, it's what he knows. So even if Angel has a soul, he's still a dangerous vampire.
