Chapter 169
Buffy and Faith went patrolling on Monday night. Buffy had big exams on Wednesday. The plan wss to dust the annointed one and the others tonight, study session at Willow's tomorrow. According to prophecy Faith would dust four vampires, the fifth would survive. But Buffy didn't want to leave this to prophecy. They'd talked with Lorne, only one of Luke's victims stood out, Andrew Borba. Willow's research found that Borba was associated with religious fanatics and wanted by police for questioning in a double homicide in Chicago. It was unclear if Borba was guilty of said homicide, but he did seem the most likely candidate to become the annointed one. They went to the cemetary, believing that the order of Aurelius might've taken the corpses to where they would blend in. Giles told Buffy about other slayers, what they had done. In 1866 a town in Virginia was plaqued with the murder of civil war widows. The murders stopped when Lucy Hanover arrived in town. In 1927 more than 40 bodies were discovered at the Chicago train station. These murders stopped when a certain female blacksmith arrived. That was quite a legacy to live up to. Then there was Faith. She'd chosen evil, suppossedly. But she didn't mind helping Buffy prevent the end of the world. And she'd done pretty well for herself. Maybe Faith was on to something.
