Chapter 25

Tyler smirked as Caroline said his name and took a few steps towards them. After he took the first step, Caroline placed a protective hand in front of Kiara and pushed her behind her slightly. Tyler then glared at Kiara but then looked back up at Caroline. He held out his hand and said "Care, come with me" Caroline shook her head and tightened her grip on Kiara's hand. "You don't belong here, Care. You shouldn't have come here".

"What was I suppose to do? I was bitten, Tyler, but you wouldn't know that because you weren't there".

"You broke up with me" Tyler stressed. He then calmed down and said "just come with me, I don't want you to get hurt anymore. You're healed, you'll be okay".

Caroline was silent for a moment then said "but I'm not hurt now and you know what, breaking up with you was the best decision I made and I'm still here because I want to be here. I'm happy here, more than I have ever been back in Mystic Falls".

Tyler's eyes flashed gold for a second and Caroline took a step back as she knew how his anger could affect him. Kiara gasped as she knew he was a hybrid and said "mummy".

Tyler clenched his fists and then glared at them "I heard the rumours that Klaus got himself a whore. After you left Mystic Falls, I thought that you went somewhere safe as I didn't want to believe that it could be you".

Caroline was furious by what Tyler had called her but hesitated before she said "Tyler, how did you find out I left Mystic Falls?"

"I never left. I had to get my revenge on Klaus and what better person to work with than the woman who knows him more than anything. His mother. She came to me and explained what she was planning and asked if I wanted to help and I accepted".

Caroline gasped and stressed "You were one of the wolves that attacked the boarding house. Elena and Damon died that night".

"Like you care" he started to walk closer to them "how would you think they would feel if they found out that you're screwing Klaus? He made all of our lives a living hell and now your here with him. It makes me sick".

"Go to hell" she sneered. She then quickly grabbed a chair in the hallway and smashed it so she only had one of the legs. She stabbed Tyler through the stomach and grabbed Kiara and running down the hallway as fast as she could.

As Caroline and Kiara got near the courtyard, they both heard Tyler scream as he pulled the stake out. As they got close to the next exit, they found that it was blocked. They could hear Tyler coming and Caroline dragged Kiara into an alcove. Kiara held onto her wolf tightly and Caroline's hand. Caroline was trying to figure a way out and that's when she got down on one knee and whispered "I need you to listen very carefully. I need you to stay here and be as quiet as possible and don't come out till I come get you".

Kiara shook her head and said "no, mummy, I don't want to leave you".

"I'll be back soon, I just have to drive them away and that's all" a tear fell from Kiara's eyes and Caroline brushed it away with her thumb. She leaned over and kissed her forehead "I love you".

"I love you too, mummy".

Caroline made Kiara sit on the floor in the corner of the alcove so that she was harder to see. Kiara held the wolf close to her chest and Caroline stood up and was about to leave. She looked at Kiara one last time and smiled "my beautiful little girl" she then looked away and ran to distract anyone who was following her.

Caroline was running around the house and she knew that Tyler was following her. She was near the alcove again but didn't pass it as she knew it might lead Tyler to Kiara. She listened for a short moment and could hear Kiara breathing in the alcove and it made her smile for a moment. Before she knew it, she was thrown against the wall and when she looked down the corridor she saw Esther and on the other side of her, she saw Tyler. As soon as she got up, Esther held out her hand to give her an aneurism and Caroline couldn't suppress her scream. Esther then said "where is she, Caroline?" Caroline now went down onto her knees due to the pain "I can stop the pain, just tell me".

"Never" Caroline said.

"No, let me go" they all heard and Esther let go of Caroline as she was now distracted.

They all looked down the hall to see that someone had Kiara and it made Tyler and Esther smirk. Caroline at first didn't know who it was but knew it was a woman. As Kiara kicked and screamed to be let go, Caroline finally saw that it was Hayley. Caroline whooshed over to them but as she was in arms reach, Esther did a spell to bring her down. Tyler and Esther walked towards them as Kiara said "let her go".

Esther smirked and said "you're a fighter, just like your father" Tyler and Esther were now stood in front of them "but you see, you also have weaknesses just like him".

"You will leave my family alone" Kiara stressed.

"The family that lies to you" Esther said and glances at Hayley "tell me, what did they tell you about your mother?"

Caroline couldn't speak due to the pain but she groaned as she tried her hardest to. Kiara looked at Caroline for a moment but then said to Esther "they tried to protect me from the truth by telling me that she died. I know the truth. She didn't want anything to do with me and left the day I was born" Esther lifted her head high as she wasn't expecting Kiara to know. "No matter what though, Caroline is my mother".

Caroline smiled through the pain but then Esther said "take her away".

Kiara began to scream to be freed as Hayley began to drag her away but then everyone flew back as her eyes turned white and her emotions were getting the better of her. Caroline stood up and picked up Kiara and ran but it was short lived as she felt a stake being driven through her back. Kiara looked at her mothers face as she fell to the floor and cried at her injured mother. Tyler twisted the steak into Caroline's back and before Kiara could do anything, she saw darkness. Caroline saw Hayley pick up her unconscious daughter but she couldn't do anything as her injury was forcing her to close her eyes due to the blood loss.

Downstairs, while everyone was fighting the werewolves, no one had died yet but all of a sudden the werewolves stopped fighting and headed for the door. They were all confused by this action but Klaus knew that someone of a higher place told them to leave and the first thought that entered his head was Kiara and Caroline. He ran through the house to find them but what he found was an unconscious Caroline, with a stake in her back.

As he kneeled down and took her into his arms, everyone else arrived. They all saw unshed tears in Klaus eyes as he held Caroline but then he gripped the stake in his hand and pulled it out. Caroline didn't open her eyes but she moaned as he took it out. He placed a simple kiss to her forehead and whispered "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have left you" he then stood up and walked towards their room.
