Chapter 26

Kiara didn't know where she was when she woke up but she saw a camp in the centre of a forest and a large fire in the centre. She was in a square cage that was large enough for her to stand up in and she only had a small pillow and blanket inside. She was looking around the cage and started to pull on the bars but it wouldn't open. She tried to use a spell to open the cage but it wouldn't open and from the way it shimmered a red colour, there was magic on the cage. She was glancing around, to see if anyone was familiar but then all of a sudden, Esther was stood in front of her cage. Kiara glared at her as Esther said "there's no way out".

"Where are we?" Kiara said as she tried to hide the fear in her voice.

"Somewhere far, far away from New Orleans".

"What do you want from me?"

Esther smirked and said "I want you to undo what I did" Kiara sent her a questioning look "I want you to destroy the vampire race".

Kiara gasped and then glared at her and shouted "never" Esther smiled "I would never hurt my family".

"Even if it came down to your own life?"

Without hesitation Kiara said "even then. I love my family, always and forever".

Esther's smiled vanished and she said "I see their little always and forever rubbed off on you" she then kneeled down and smirked "but either way, you will help me. You see when a witch dies, her magic flows back into the earth or where her ancestors are buried. The last time I was here, I placed some of my magic into the earth, so that when the time came I could use it again and it is where I am most powerful...if you die, with me being your only witch relative still alive, your magic will flow into the earth and join mine and it will make me stronger. I will have the power to destroy what I created".

Kiara shook her head and said "you won't get away with it".

Esther stood up and said "but I already have by you being here".

She then turned her back and started to walk away but then Kiara shouted "my daddy won't let it happen. He'll kill you".

Esther looked over her shoulder for a moment then said "it wouldn't be the first time". Kiara crawled into a corner of her cell and grabbed her pillow and held it close against her chest. She looked around again to see people glaring at her and if she focused into the trees, she could see werewolves in there wolf form watching her. She was never more scared in her life and all she wanted was to be in bed with her mummy and daddy at either side of her.

Back in New Orleans, as soon as Caroline woke up and told them what happened, they began to do spell on where Kiara was but they all came up with nothing. Bonnie couldn't find Kiara anywhere and they had even expanded there search to a world map. They were all getting frustrated but Caroline soon left and began to walk around the compound. She ended up in the hallway where Kiara was taken and she saw her blood from the stake on the floor. That didn't catch her eye though, what did was the small wolf teddy in the centre of the hallway. She walked towards it and picked it up. She brushed the dirt off of it and held it to her chest as she began to cry.

Klaus saw Caroline leave the room when the spells began to fail and he know how much it hurt her that Kiara was taken, while she was there. The second he heard her cries, he left the room and made his way over to her. After a few moments, as he used his hybrid speed, he saw her in the hallway. He walked up behind her and placed his hands on her waist as she cried. He saw that she was holding Kiara's wolf and knew the pain she was feeling. Klaus then stood in front of her and said "we're going to get her back, I swear it".

Caroline was looking at the wolf and then looked up to Klaus' determined blue eyes "she-she can't sleep without this. She-she needs it" Klaus brought her into his arms just as she was about to burst into tears. She wrapped her arms around him and cried into his shoulder, while he patted her hair down and planned in his mind how he was going to make the people, who took her, pay.

Kiara was trying to be strong like her family were but every second that went by, she feared not for her life but for the life of her family and the fear that she would die alone. Kiara knew that it was a way of life that you die, well humans, so she accepted death but she didn't want to die without seeing her family one more time. As she thought about her family, she felt a presence next to her and when she looked, she saw Henrik. She smiled and moved the pillow away from her chest and just before she spoke, he held a finger to his lips and shushed. She nodded and whispered "Uncle Henrik".

Henrik smiled and said "don't worry, I'm here".

Kiara looked around to see if anyone was watching her, especially Esther, and there wasn't. She crawled a little closer and said "have you been to see my mummy?"

Henrik's smile grew as his niece cared more about others than herself. He nodded and said "she's okay, she fine...she's worried about you, they all are".

"Uncle Henrik, where am I?" she asked nervously.

"You're in Mystic Falls".

Kiara smiled and said "this is where you grew up".

"Yes, well up until fourteen anyway. Your Uncle Elijah and Auntie Rebekah and your father all grew up here too but that was a 1000 years ago. A lot has change since then" Henrik drifted off for a moment as if remembering the good times, before he said "look around, the world has modernised. Your mother was also born here; nearly two decades ago she was your age. This is the world she grew up in". Before either of them could say anything else, a young boy not much older than Kiara, was walking towards the cage with a cup. He had shaky hand and they both noticed that he was nervous for some reason. Henrik then said "I'll be back soon. Don't worry". Kiara knew not to talk as the boy was close and she just nodded slightly, before Henrik disappeared.

It had been hours since they started searching for Kiara, they had Bonnie doing constant spells and allies all around the world searching for Kiara. None of them were giving up hope but they were getting more frustrated as each second past. Henrik was suddenly in the room and he knew that he had to do something. He saw the ink and map on the table and he focused on it, while saying a spell in his mind.

Everyone in the room was chocked as the ink moved and they all looked towards Bonnie. She was in the same situation as them and said "it isn't me".

Henrik started to feel drained from the simple spell but as the ink moved across the map, it just made it clearer that what he was doing was right. When the ink finally stopped, he smiled as it landed in the area of Mystic Falls and how the family reacted quickly. Klaus said Henrik's name and smiled and said thank you. Henrik suddenly felt someone behind him and when he turned around, he saw Ayana. He bowed his head slightly but then looked back up to her and said "I had to do it. I know that it is the rules, not to use magic on that world but this has to stop".

Ayana gave him a small smile and said "I am not here to punish you, Henrik. The spirits and I, after great consideration, have agreed that what Esther is doing has gone too far. When she created vampires, nature found a way to balance itself again. If she continues on this path, nature will be off balance and it will bring grave consequences".
