Chapter 41 – Dragon
"Are you ready?" Harry asked Lillian. Both were in his room waiting mentally preparing themselves for fighting against dragons which were supposedly incredibly powerful. The order members had left Grimmauld place a while back having made their plans to counter Voldemort's attack and stop the inevitable rampage of the free dragons. The only problem was that they didn't know what Voldemort's end game was and their entire plan was based on what little information the potions master had gathered before he was discovered and on Dumbledore's in depth knowledge on how the dark lord had operated in the past. But Voldemort had changed a lot ever since his resurrection and it wasn't good news for all those who fought against the dark.
"Do you think it's a good idea to show everyone our power?" said Lillian worriedly.
Harry shrugged. "It was going to happen eventually, but we'll disguise ourselves anyways," he said and began applying glamour charms to her and him. He made Lillian's hair longer and changed its colour to light brown and her eyes matching her hair while he changed his hair to dirty blonde and his eyes blue. It wasn't much of a change but no one would recognise them unless they looked hard enough.
"Huh," muttered Lillian nonchalantly . "For a moment I thought you would make my hair green or something."
"You're an idiot," dead-panned harry. "Anyway I checked and it seems that Dumbledore has put up wards to make sure that we're unable to get out no matter what we try so we're going to be using your teleportation technique to get outside."
"Then what are we waiting for?" she asked.
Harry took a deep breath. "These dragons are supposed to be insanely strong. Even Dumbledore seemed worried about having to fight them. So if at any time you feel like it's too much just get the hell out of there okay?"
"We'll be fine Harry," murmured Lillian. "They are fire breathing creatures and I am a fire elemental. I'm sure we can handle them together."
"Still," replied Harry. "I don't want you dying out there and it being my fault."
Lillian felt something lurch in her stomach. He cared about her and didn't want to see her hurt! "Alright," she said softly and to a step closer to him. "Let's do this," she said determinedly.
Harry nodded and awkwardly wrapped his arms around her as she did the same. Together, they disappeared in a burst of fiery flames.

Some place else Lord Voldemort was finalising the last stages of his grand scheme.
"All of you have your orders," he said softly, looking at his faithful servants. "Do not make mistakes and the wizarding world will be ours today."
"What about Snape my lord?" asked Lucius. "He heard part of our plan and we can be sure that Dumbledore knows it as well now."
"He heard part of our plan Lucius," said Voldemort with a feral smile. "He did not hear the whole plan and that makes all the difference."
"Of course my lord."
"Now depart my friends," he said rising from his chair. "To Victory!"
"To Victory!" they shouted and one by one they departed.
With a dark smile on his face Voldemort made his way down the stairs at the corner of the room and made his way to the dungeons. At the bottom there was a door and beyond it an enormous cave which could not possibly exist if it weren't for magic.
There was one heavily drugged free dragon inside and it seemed to be coming out of its slumber. Voldemort walked up to it. His frame was barely half the size of its smallest tooth.
"I know you can hear me and understand me," he said looking into its half open eye, his voice laced with powerful magic. "I am going to transport you to my master and there he shall tear apart your body, experiment on you and use you for his own purposes. Know that I never wanted to do this to you but my master is much more powerful than me."
The ground began to shake as the dragon growled. Its mind was slowly clearing up and it didn't believe a word that was coming out from the little human's mouth.
"If you do not believe me then see for yourself when you get to him. Goodbye dragon," said Voldemort and he placed a portkey on its snout and appartated away. He had two other dragons to talk to.

Harry and Lillian appeared in the alley next to the leaky cauldron.
"So much better than normal wizarding transport," said Harry. "I should make you my personal transport!"
"Ha, ha," deadpanned Lillian.
The colour of the sky was changing slowly and both the teens hearts began to beat faster in anticipation.
"Where do you think it'll appear?"
"I don't know," replied Harry. "But we'll know when it comes." They had walked around for a few minutes when the ground suddenly shook violently. They had to grab on to something to prevent themselves from falling over. When what they knew wasn't an earthquake stopped the air was filled with a loud piercing roar which reverberated through their ears.
"What the hell!" screamed Lillian over the noise and covered her ears tried to block out that awful noise.
And then there was silence. Slowly they heard the sounds of wings flapping and then they saw it at some distance in the sky.
There were no words to describe it. The beast was colossal! They could see a dozens of skyscrapers around and it made them looks like ants staring up at a mammoth. It was blood red with a plated back. There were four horns like things sticking out of its head. It had a long snout and droopy whiskers which did nothing to make it any less scary. Its neck was long and it would have resembled a thick snake but its torso expanded out and its wing span was enormous! Thankful its tail was just a tail. The most dangerous thing about it was its orange eyes that were smouldering in rage.
Harry and Lillian were standing at least a mile away and it dragon looked so huge to them. They didn't even try to imagine it up close.
Suddenly a number of spells began to crash into it and the dragon faced up and let out another roar before changing its direction and headed straight for the wizards attacking it.
Harry and Lillian could only stare dumbly as they watched the dragon crash into the ground. Buildings began to crumble like sand castles and the two looked in growing horror as the air began to get saturated with screams and suddenly the streets were filled with panicked humans trying to get away from the raging dragon.
The sight of people running snapped the elementals out of their daze. "Let's go!" shouted Harry and grabbed on to Lillian's arm. "Take us there!"
The order of the phoenix was the only force of magical beings combating the dragon. There was no sign of the ministry aurors and they didn't expect them to make an appearance either.
"Keep bombarding it!" yelled Moody. "Don't let up!" Bodies were strewn around him, both wizards and muggles. Some of the order had suffered a painful death as they didn't apparate in time and got crushed by the falling debris.
"Bombarda!" thundered all the witches and wizards together. "Bombarda!" They didn't let up. They kept bombarding it but all they succeeded in doing was to piss it off even more.
"Where's Dumbledore!" shouted Tonks and Sirius.
"Still setting up the runes with Doge and... APPARATE! The tail is coming this way!" All structure in a one kilometre radius and over ten feet tall were crushed to dust and the ground began to shake violently again as the dragon came crashing down trying to stomp whatever tiny moving thing it could see.
"This is insane!" screamed Hestia dodging the falling concrete. "I don't even know what part of it I'm aiming at!"
"Apparate two hundred meters back and continue attacking men!" ordered Moody.
There air was filled with a number cracking sounds as the wizards obeyed Moody and got a clearer view of the dragon.
"Aim for its eyes!" shouted Sirius. "The conjunctivitis curse NOW!"
But it did nothing to it. Unlike the dragons they were familiar with, this one was protected by magical all over.
"Moody, we need to get these people out of here!" cried Tonks. "They're getting in the way and their screams aren't helping!"
She was right. The muggles were running like headless chickens all around them in an effort to get away and they kept getting in the way of the order members.
"APPARATE!" thundered Moody and they blindly followed his command which was a good thing seeing the dragon crashed into the very spot they were in doing its best to pulverize the pesky humans who were irritating it.
A blinding bolt of lightning emitted from behind the order members which managed to push the dragon a few feet back.
Dumbledore had arrived and his body was literally radiating magical power. "Keep bombarding it, the runes are ready," he said coldly.
The dragon felt that bolt. It turned its eyes onto the old man who had hurt him and saw that this man fitted the description the one who had captured it gave. Dumbledore looked back at it calmly while ignoring the fires erupting everywhere and the hysterical screaming of the injured muggles.
"Attack!" screamed Moody and Dumbledore began to transfigure anything solid around him into large spears at super human speeds. He then traced a rune in the air with his wand and banished it at the spears. The runes suddenly multiplied and were engraved on all the now silver spears.
The Attack was powerful. Dozens of silver spears streaked through the sky and crashed into the dragon pushing it further back. It let out a roar of pain as some of the spears pierced its thick hide.
"Once more!" roared Dumbledore and unleashed another wave of rune encrusted sharp edged weapons at it.
"Yes!" cried the headmaster as the dragon fell into their trap. One by a one a crimson column of magic began to erupt around it, crimson being the colour representing destructive magic. The columns kept increasing and the dragons roar was drowned by the noise of the pillars of magic. Suddenly the columns converged on it and there was an enormous explosion.
Debris flew in all directions and for a moment everybody was blinded by the dust blowing around them.
"Alright!" screamed the order in joy. There was no way the dragon could have survived that they all thought. That was one of the most powerful runic attacks and it had taken them close to about two hours to set that up and added to that Dumbledore was the conduit which guided the magic.
Alas they were wrong.
"This is not possible," whispered Sirius. The dragon was still in one shape and had suffered some damage but nothing even remotely fatal. And from the looks of it, it was supremely pissed. "What do we do now Dumbledore!" they cried in despair.
"All of you go and help Mundungus and his team to evacuate and save as many muggles as you can," he said grimly.
"You don't mean to fight alone Albus!" said Moody angrily.
"Just go," he said as he prepared a spell. Moody hesitated before nodding and apparated away. They had to save as many lives as possible.
"Meteosterilis!" shouted Albus raising his wand to the sky. Part of the sky began to turn dark and one by one huge rocks covered in fire began to bombard the beast. The attack was greatly effective as the dragon cried out in pain as the rocks crashed into its body at great velocities. Albus was sure at least a few of its bones would have cracked.
The dragon immediately took flight and dodged the rest of what was like a meteor shower with surprising agility for its size. The rocks crashed into the city and Albus with a heavy heart realized that he might have just caused more deaths but he buried that feeling deep inside of him and focused on the dragon. And then something happened which shocked the headmaster.
A great volume of water and ice rammed into the dragons wings and began to freeze its body restricting its moment. With some effort it broke free of the ice and immediately lances of fire pierced its belly!
Dumbledore couldn't believe it. The dragons hide was finally pierced to a degree which they hadn't achieved! And then he saw the ones responsible. He saw through their disguise without even having to try. Two of his young students had disobeyed his orders to stay at the headquarters and had joined the battle.
He couldn't have been happier it was them.
"Good work freckles!" yelled Harry. "Keep attacking after me!" The wind was blowing furiously around them as water rocketed out of his arms twisted themselves into a shape that ironically looked like a dragon too. The only difference was that it was covered with spikes. Their elemental power was unleashed to maximum and the rings of silver and red in their eyes was proof of that!
"Don't call me that you green eyed freak," she yelled back. Her entire body was on fire and right behind Harry's dragon a fiery ball of elemental fire was taking the shape of a phoenix.
Having fire and ice so close to each other was creating a fog in the area and it helped hide them from the dragon's sights.
"Go!" they both shouted.
Harry's attack slammed into the dragon's torso. The sharp edged ice pierced through its hide with ease and blood began to pour out the holes the attack had punched in its body. The dragon roared in agony and was momentarily stunned. It began to fall back to the ground and wasn't given any time to recover as Lillian's phoenix slammed into its belly again and this time the dragon's skin began to burn to crisp and the flesh underneath it started to sizzle. Then with a resounding crash it fell onto a ten storey building which was still left standing.
Dumbledore apparated next to the pair with his wand at the ready.
"Lecture us later old man," said Harry without missing a beat earning a snort from Lillian. They reigned in their element and stared at the fallen dragon.
"I'm glad you came," was all he said before their attention snapped back to the beast.
Something weird was happening. There was some sort of pressure building in the air and it sent shivers down their spines.
The now badly hurt dragon was expanding its lungs and its entire body was beginning to crackle with what looked like electricity. But they knew it wasn't electricity but magic.
"If it blows fire, you know what to do freckles," muttered harry.
"I know," she said determinedly.
The dragon set its eyes on them and then it opened its mouth.
What came out wasn't fire, it was something they would have never imagined coming from the mouth of a dragon. All they saw was a pinkish glow before everything exploded.
When Harry came to he felt pain flare throughout his body. As he opened his eyes he thought Dumbledore had apparated them away to safety to some barren land. But then he saw the dragon and Dumbledore who was panting hard looking ready to lose consciousness. Lillian was moaning a few feet from him as she stirred. And there was nothing to his left or to his right and nothing behind him either.
"Wha-what happened!" he managed to spit out. Words were failing him as he saw the destruction around him. Except it wasn't destruction, everything that had experienced the dragons breath had simply ceased to exist! Apart from them it seemed.
"That was a roar of magic Harry," croaked Dumbledore. "The dragons we know of breath fire and it seems this once breathes magic. I had to use almost all my power to protect us and I won't be able to stop another of that kind of attack."
The dragon spotted then and something like surprise flashed through its eyes before they narrowed and with a powerful flap of its wings it hurtled towards them intending to finish of the powerful magic users and then levelling the city before heading back to the mountains.
Groaning Lillian slowly came to and pushed herself to her feet. Dumbledore did the same.
There was small flash and Harry's wand was out. It seemed to be vibrating and the young elementals eyes burned with determination and power as the dragon came closer and closer.
"Harry," began Dumbledore but harry simply raised his hand and silenced his headmaster.
"I'm sorry professor but I'm going to have to ask you to step back."
He then bent his knees and literally took off, a powerful jet of water propelling him towards the dragon. He closed his eyes and with his magic spread around, he tracked the dragon's movement. When the dragon was just a few dozen meters in front of him he directed his body to move above it and with a slash of his wand he screamed out the curse his wand had whispered to him.
"Glaciesvoxtalea!"
An arc of white light burst out of his wands and began to dig itself into the beast's neck. There was a scream of will from harry and a screen of protest from the dragon as it tried to deflect the spell with its magic. And then the spell cut through.
Its head went flying and its body plummeted. It was over in a matter of seconds.
Dumbledore conjured a net and quickly caught Harry before he fell. There was big smile on his face and Lillian was whopping in joy.
I'm shocked you're not in Gryffindor Harry," said Dumbledore.
People were apparating around them and they too roared in triumph seeing the now headless dragon.
"That was bloody incredible!" said Tonks.
"Who are you people?" asked an exuberant Sirius.
Moody's good eye widened in shock as his magical eye saw through their glamour's. But he kept his mouth shut.
"What's the situation outside Alastor?" asked Dumbledore and instantly the mood turned dark.
"It's bad Albus," he said. "The muggles have no idea what just hit them. That attack by that damn beast went on for miles! It wouldn't be a stretch to say that thousands if muggles are dead and hundreds more injured."
Everyone listened in horror.
"The muggles are terrified and every human in a 5 mile radius is trying to leave the city. We put up some muggle repealing wards in the area when you sent us away but. . . . . . . ."
Moody stopped when he saw Dumbledore's expression change.
"The wards!" he said in shock.
"Which wards?" asked Sirius.
"Hogwarts," said Dumbledore and then they remembered Snape saying there three dragons not just one.
"The wards at Hogwarts just collapsed," repeated Dumbledore numbly.
Just then Kingsley apparated in and he didn't even spare a glance at the slain dragon. "We have a situation Albus," he said in panic.
"What happened?"
"The ministry has fallen," he said. "The minister and a few aurors escaped and I helped them make it to one of our safe houses."
"This is terrible! How did it happen!" asked Jones.
"We were attacked just as Albus predicted but we couldn't have imagined we would be attacked by the other ministries of magic," he said helplessly. "France, Bulgaria, Spain and a few more came through the international relations office and the death eaters attacked from outside. It was a massacre."
And if the situation could not get worse Mundungus apparated near them and as he ran closer they saw the look of fear on his face and braced themselves for more bad news.
"It's terrible Dumbledore!" he cried out. "Deatheaters and dementors are attacking the muggles an' there are nearly a hundreds of them! They seem to be celebrating!"
"What should we do Albus!" they asked urgently. But the powerful wizard's attention had shifted elsewhere.
"Where's Harry?" he demanded.
"He was just here," said Lillian bewildered.
"Harry? As in my godson Harry!"
"Oh no," muttered Dumbledore. "All of you go back to headquarters," he barked. "You too Lillian."
"Lillian?" gasped Tonks recognising the girl.
"Go now!" commanded Dumbledore. "There's nothing we can do now. Our power has depleted and Voldemort has struck a terrible blow against us. Now what we need to do is to regroup and plan our next course of action." Hearing the tone of his voice one by one the order disapparared and Sirius took Lillian with him.
Harry sped towards the flashes of light using his magic to increase his speed. Perenelle's words were ringing in his ears. "Don't let the enemy live," she had said. "Those who enjoy torturing and killing simply do not deserve to live."
Harry dodged the mass of people trying to get away from the deatheaters and then he saw them. They were so many of them and they were destroying buildings and killing people with ease and Harry could see their delight in doing so. These were the men, he thought. These were the people he could kill and then not feel guilty about killing them.
"Please no!" he heard a woman scream and his eyes picked out a sickening green spell fly towards a women fallen who was trapped between some debris. Harry intercepted the spell with a rock and banished the beam trapping the woman.
"Get out of here," he said and the temperature began to drop.
"Th-thank you," said the woman and hightailed it out of there.
"Bombarda!" hissed Harry and the deatheaters in the front didn't even have a chance to express their surprise as they exploded in a shower of blood and gore. The deatheaters stopped their rampage and looked at the disguised harry in shock. Clearly they weren't expecting any resistance from anyone!
"He must be one of Dumbledore's stooges! Kill him!" yelled one of the black robed men.
"I'd like to see you try," said Harry with a chilling smile and then slammed his palms into the ground. The deatheaters who didn't react in time were dead within seconds as huge icicles burst out of the ground piercing them. It was a painfully beautiful sight; Blood soaked crystals illuminated by the fires roaring around them.
"He's dangerous!" someone shouted. "Surround him and take him out!" Their dark curses were easy to dodge no matter how many of them were there. They were slow and Harry had trained too much and too hard with Perenelle to let them hit him.
Wand in one hand and with the power of water and ice in the other, Harry decimated the deatheaters. With his magic ready to sense their moments and location, they could not catch him but he was easily able to find them. He sliced, conjured ice scythes, sent blasting curses and did his best to make sure that once they were down, they stayed down.
In no time at all their numbers were cut down to less than half. They summoned the dementors they had brought with them but to their immense shock, their opponent's body literally exploded out a massive mass of water and then drenched the foul creatures.
The dementors screeched pitifully but Harry showed no mercy for those things. Just as soon as they had come, they had become blocks of ice and Harry then simply blasted them into smithereens.
"You all just deserve to die for what you have done!" he snarled at the remaining deatheaters. With the amount of water Harry had splashed around, the fires around them had long been extinguished and the deatheaters didn't even notice their legs began to freeze. They were trapped and they could do nothing but look at the demon in front of them in horror.
Some of them didn't even think twice before they disapparated. Harry winced and almost all of them left half their bodies behind. "They are going to die painfully for sure," he muttered.
"P-please," cried out of the men who had stayed behind. "D-don't kill us! We were forced by the dark lord!"
Harry quietly walked towards the man while manoeuvring around the broken bodies, the crushed pieces of steel and concrete, shattered glass and various broken house hold items that now littered the ground.
His eyes changed back to the emerald green and the thin silver circle encircling his pupil was pulsing with power.
"No you were not," he said. "You went to him by choice and you killed these innocent people with laughter bubbling in your throats, I saw it. Well now you die with blood in your throats," he whispered. He slammed his foot into the ground and thin spikes of ice pierced their throats. Harry just watched dispassionately as they choked on their own blood and he kept watching until the light vanished from their eyes. Harry had left alive and he turned towards him and watched as the man whimpered in fear.
"W-Who, who are y-you?" he stammered.
"I am the one who will kill you all," hissed harry. He placed a finger on the man's frozen legs and released him. "You can leave in one piece and tell your fellow foot soldiers what will happen to them should they chose to kill more innocents."
The deatheater whimpered and then disapparated.
Harry looked at all the people he had slaughtered and began to feel nauseous. He then turned to the side and emptied the contents of his stomach. Perenelle had taught him how to kill, she had made sure he could kill a murderer without having to hesitate and that's what he had done. She had prepared him for war as well as possible but nothing, absolutely nothing could have prepared Harry for this. Killing so many people for the first time without Perenelle around just made him sick inside.
But no! He would stay strong and not show any weakness for this was just the beginning. He knew it was about to get a whole lot worse.
Harry heard glass cracking behind him and turned around sharply and saw a severely shaken Dumbledore looking at him.
"What have you done Harry," said Dumbledore sounding horrified as he surveyed the carnage both harry had caused.
"What was necessary sir," said Harry tonelessly. "If I hadn't they would have just continued what they were doing until their lust was sated."
"And killing them was the answer!" he asked coldly. "Sinking to their level was necessary!"
"So you'd rather we let them go on slaughtering muggles who can't defend themselves?" said Harry tiredly.
"You could have restrained them."
"I'm tired can we go back?" said Harry, not in the mood to argue. He was feeling empty inside and he just wanted to go and sleep for now.
Dumbledore gave Harry a piercing stare before nodding with regret in his eyes. It was a terrible day when a fourteen year old had to believe that killing was necessary. He gently took hold of Harry's arm and they apparated away silently.
In one swoop Voldemort had taken over. Not just a few but all the major ministries of magic around the globe had fallen into his hands. While the Bones administration was strengthening their ministry, Voldemort had focused on the other ministries and they were unprepared for having to deal with a powerful dark lord. One by one they had fallen and no one even realized it had happened.
But the worst was yet to come. Voldemort hadn't remained silent in the non magical world either. The wizards and witches who fought for good were about to get more bad news as they tried to come to terms with the fall of the wizarding world.
