Chapter 28

A few hours later, two men along with Esther walked towards the cage and Esther opened it with her magic. Kiara knew that trying to run would be useless with the people that were surrounding her. One of the men grabbed her out of the cage and he had a strong grip around her arm. She winced slightly as they put cuffs around her wrists and Esther said "so you can't use your magic". Kiara glared at her and Esther smiled and patted her head "this will all be over soon, young one. I just need to undo what I started".

"You're a monster" Kiara spat.

"No. If my children were still human and Niklaus had still had you, then I would have welcomed you with open arms and would not have harmed any of you...I have to end this" Kiara continued to glare at her.

Kiara was pulled towards the large fire in the centre of the camp, which also had a large cauldron next to it, was surrounded by the people that stayed there. They were all smirking or glaring at her but there were two people who weren't. She saw that Lucas was talking to an older man who looked a lot like him and she assumed that it was his father, Nathan. Lucas kept on glancing towards her as he was talking and the man in front of him looked guilty. She used her tribrid hearing to listen. Lucas said "please, dad, she's innocent. We have to stop Esther from killing her".

"Lucas, I told you before, I can't" Nathan said tiredly.

"Why not?"

"Because if I try anything then Esther will hurt you. I'm sorry, son, I can't let that happen, I can't lose you".

"Please, dad" Kiara could hear that he was begging and could tell that he had tears in his eyes "I don't care what happens to me, just help her".

Kiara gasped as she didn't know that he would go that far. Nathan then said "you only just met her".

Lucas shrugged and said "I need to protect her" Nathan could only stare at his son but then Kiara was walking past them and stopped at the cauldron. When Lucas noticed her, he gasped "no" he tried to move forward but his father put his hands on his shoulders. He was looking around to see if he could do anything but he couldn't. He looked back and mouthed "I'm sorry".

She gave him a small smile and mouthed "its okay. Thank you for being my friend" she then looked away as she couldn't look at him anymore. Everyone around the camp was quiet as they watched Esther walk towards Kiara with a dagger.

As she got within arms reach Esther announced "tonight is the night of a new era. The vampires of this world will finally be gone and the world will be restored to its natural ways".

Kiara giggled slightly and said as Esther looked towards her "natural ways? It already is that. Nature found a way to balance itself when you created vampires. What you're doing now is against nature" Kiara looked around to everyone and could sense that there was numerous witches "if you all do this, nature will be off balance once again and it will bring consequences" she looked back to Esther "the spirits have turned against you, you've gone too far this time".

Some of the witches in the crowd began to talk to each other and Esther felt like she was losing power over them. She then said "Henrik told you this".

Kiara nodded and said "Ayana told him and he told me".

Esther turned back to her fellow witches and said "nature will find a way to balance again. Vampire kill our species, they hunt us and use our powers. They kill thousands a day, we have to stop them" the witches that were once questioning there actions began to nod and were back on Esther's side.

Esther looked back to Kiara "I can not watch as my children kill any longer, not anymore".

"Then you might want to look away" a voice said and they looked to the end of the camp to see Klaus stood there with a smirk on his face.

Kiara smiled and gasped "daddy".

Klaus glanced at her and wink and then began to walk towards the fire. He looked at the people as he walked past them and the werewolves closest to Esther turned. He smirked and said "protection wont last long, Mother".

A few people in the crowd were glancing at each other as they didn't know about the connection between he two. Esther smiled "you should show more respect".

"Respect for the mother means respect for the children" he gestured around "you clearly don't show that..." he then sneered "now step the hell away from my daughter".

"Or what?"

Klaus smirked and then ran up to a witch and ripped her heart out. He held the heart in his hand as the witch fell "I won't kill you...as painfully".

"Get him" Esther commanded and people started to move forward towards Klaus. Klaus just smirked and in the next second the camp was surrounded and people were running towards it like a battle, which it was. Esther looked around and said "kill them" the werewolves began to turn and the witches and vampires began to kill the opponents.

Kiara looked around and noticed that in the crowed of people attacking, was her mother, uncles, aunties and vampires of New Orleans such as Marcel, Cami and Diego. The others she didn't know but could sense that they were vampires, werewolves and witches. She knew that her family had power all over the world and she assumed that they had called in favours or asked allies to join them in the battle.

Nathan jumped away from the crowd and used his magic to push some people away from Klaus. Klaus was shocked as the man stood next to him and Nathan then said "the necklaces they wear, its how they are able to turn and not to be killed" Klaus nodded as he didn't know why the man was doing this but he listened. Klaus whooshed forward and took some of the necklaces of the werewolves, while they were in transition but the others who had already turned, he couldn't see their necklaces.

Lucas snuck up behind Kiara and said "come with me".

Kiara glanced back to her father as the others joined in the fight and he looked at her and shouted "Go". She looked back to Lucas and they both ran into the forest.

They didn't get very far as Kiara still wanted to see what was happening and she had to get the cuffs off. Lucas was shocked when he tried to get them off and pulled back slightly and touched his hand. Kiara gave him a sorry smile and said "Esther must have placed a spell on them".

Someone then caught the side of Kiara's eye and when she looked she saw Henrik and an elder looking woman. Lucas noticed and said "Kiara, what's wrong?"

Kiara looked at him and said "I have the power to see the dead, I'm seeing my uncle Henrik" Lucas was shocked at first but he wasn't scared. She then looked back to them "can you help me?"

Henrik said "I'm sorry, Kiara, but I can't".

"You can help yourself" the woman said.

"Who are you?" Kiara asked innocently.

"My name is Ayana" Kiara gasped.

"How am I able to see you? I can only see Henrik".

Henrik then said "I allowed her to tap into my magic so that you could her, but we don't have long before it's broken".

Ayana then said "you've heard of me, good, then you know that I won't try to hurt you. You need to focus on all of your power and emotions and you'll be able to break it".

"I can't, I'm not strong enough".

"Yes you can" Ayana went down to her knees so she was at Kiara's height "my dear, I saw it when you protected your father from the bullet, in London. I saw it when you tried to protect yourself and your mother, when they attacked your home. Both of these times you have done it, you just have to do it again".

"I don't want to be angry like that again".

"You don't have to be angry" Henrik said and walked towards her. He placed a hand on her shoulder and said "those times, you weren't focusing on anger. You were focusing on protecting your family, you were focusing on the love you have for them".

"All you have to do is do it again" Ayana said "you can stop the werewolves from using the necklaces".

Kiara glanced towards the battle and could see that many people had fallen and most of them were on her side. She knew that by the werewolves having those stones, they had an advantage and she knew she had to take them out. She looked back to Ayana and said "how?"

"The spirits will be with you. We will tell you the spell when you do it".

Kiara nodded and said "what about Esther?"

Ayana stood back up properly and said nervously "Esther is a different matter. Due to how powerful she is, it will take a powerful spell to destroy her".

"Tell me".

"Are you sure?" Ayana glanced at Henrik and they were both worried.

"I have to protect my family" she then glanced at Lucas "and friends" Lucas smiled at her. Ayana sighed and nodded. She then placed both hands on either side of Kiara's forehead and closed her eyes, along with Kiara, as she transfers the powerful spell.

When the spell was transferred, Kiara opened her eyes to see that both Ayana and Henrik were gone. She knew that both of them focusing on Henrik's magic, wouldn't last long as it takes a lot of strength to do it. She looked at Lucas and said determinedly "I know what to do". Kiara then closed her eyes and focused on her emotions. She focused on the love for her family, as she felt that was her strongest emotion and as she let the power flow through her fingertips. After only a few moments, the chains that held her hands together fell and she opened her eyes. She brought her hands around the front so she could see them and smiled. She then looked at Lucas and said "I have to end this".
