Chapter 175

On Friday November 23rd Kate Lockley was working part time as a security guard at the Sunnydale mall. Even with the increase in internet shopping black Friday was still the busiest shopping day of the year. This was a good opportunity for under-paid cops to earn extra money during the holidays. The extra security decreased physical altercations between customers, also decreased shoplifting. Kate noticed signs near the security cameras which read "We prosecute all shoplifters!" Kate saw Buffy Summers and her mother Christmas shopping. Kate was still suspicious of this girl, but Buffy seemed under control today. Then Kate saw two others, two people she trusted even less than Buffy Summers. They were Warren Mears and Amy Madison, fugitives wanted for attempted murder. Kate Lockley called for back-up and quietly approached the fugitives. Before she approached them Amy and Warren pulled their guns and immediately fired on random civilians. As people fled and scremed Kate ducked for cover and shot Warren in the head. Amy fired at Kate for killing her beloved Warren. When Amy failed to kill Kate she finally turned her gun on herself. The other cops went to Amy and Warren's victims. They'd shot five people, but one of them got up. The cop was at first relieved, but he told the man to lay down until paramedics arrived. Then this victim snapped the cops neck. The other shooting victims got up, as did the dead cop. People had been fleeing the guns, the dead rising kept people running. These walking dead apparently had no emotions, no pain, they just began killing whoever they could find. Buffy soon joined the fight to stop the zombies, but didn't know how to stop them permanently. These zombies felt no pain, but they could be physically stopped, at least momentarily. Kate Lockley got the other civilians out, but if the zombies couldn't be stopped it might be a short victory.
