Spike briefed Conner on their plan. They would have to wait another month, but if they were successful Conner would be reunited with his mother, Spike would be reunited with Drusilla. Spike needed to talk to Conner about one aspect.
Spike: Remember, you can't show doubt or mercy during that part. If they see weakness in you, yhe whole plan could fall apart. Then we're all screwed, including that girlfriend of yours.
Conner: I know. I'll do what I have to do. Only, I'd like to avoid bloodshed if possible.
Spike: We can probably avoid killing anyone, but not if you look weak.
Conner: I won't. Why did she have me? If Darla is as brutal as everyone says, why did she give birth to me? Risk her life to give me to Holtz?
Spike: I wasn't there. Dru came to help Darla, but I couldn't get there in time. The only thing I can think of is that she loved you, wanted to keep you safe. Not every human is capable of that love, it's almost unheard of for vampires. That's specualtion on my part. Hope you're happy when you see her.
