Welcome to the first Akatsuki battle chapter of the arc. Shinji vs. Itachi Mangekyō Sharingan battle round two. The NERV base is the battle field.

It was the next day. Everyone else was out scouting for the Akatsuki or training the pilots, but good old Shinji agreed to be scanned inside the NERV - wait, I'm sorry - Willie's lab by Ritsuko who was on work release.

Shinji was laying down in the scanner while Ritsuko, under the supervision of Maya, looked at the results.

Ritsuko looked at the data on her monitor. "Looks like when the EVA-01 sent you to that other world, it changed your DNA. That must be why you have that Sharingan thing."

Shinji thought about it for a moment. That meant that his Sharingan was his mother's doing. Why did she give him that bloodline limit? Why not the Rinnegan? Why not some kind of new power no one has seen before? This answer only raised more questions.

But, unknown to them, watching from the hallway was Itachi using a genjutsu to look like a worker.

Itachi was growling. The brat that out-Sharingan'd him wasn't even born with it. That purple demon gave it to him. How could someone not even born with it beat him the strongest Uchiha since Madara?

The Uchiha dropped his genjutsu and drew his sword as it covered itself in Amaterasu's black flames. Itachi charged in, about to cut off the two womens' heads.

But, out of nowhere, Shinji used Flying Thunder god as his Mangekyō Sharingan activated and blocked the sword with his Sword of Kusanagi which was also covered in black flames.

Shinji smirked as he forced Itachi to jump back. "Nice try, but I thought ahead and put Flying Thunder god seals in every room of this base. That way, I can teleport to any spot in this place."

Ritsuko was stunned. Maya's eyes widened at the sight of swords covered in black fire.

Itachi growled. "WHAT THE HELL IS WITH YOU?! You aren't a born Uchiha. You have the same level of Sharingan as me and you didn't have to kill anyone to get it. Now, you are outsmarting me at every turn."

Shinji was smirking. After all, a mad enemy makes mistakes and, right now, that's just what he wanted. "So, this is the Uchiha Curse of Hatred everyone talks about. No wonder EVA-01 gave me your family's eyes. It wanted me to replace your family with something better."

Itachi's rage had reached it's boiling point. He charged at him again, only for Kusanagi to grow longer and stab him through the heart.

Itachi then vanished and with reappeared behind Shinji, but now Itachi was missing his right eye. He could tell thanks to that eye being closed as blood dripped from the now eyeless hole in his face.

Shinji turned and back flipped out of the way of his sword. "Come on now, Izanagai. Using that to turn your death into nothing more than an illusion at the cost of an eye is Mangekyō 101. I expected more from the so-called 'best Uchiha.'"

Itachi just kept growling and swinging his sword at Shinji as blindly as his rage made him.

Shinji just kept blocking sword swings as the sword fight officially left the room and Ritsuko and Maya. Shinji was smirking as he thought, 'That's it, Itachi. Follow me to your death and my claiming of the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan.'

Shinji jumped away from Itachi and took off with the nukenin who was blinded by rage behind him. The chase took them to the LCL tanks.

Shinji stood on the surface of the blood-like breathable gunk. The jinchūriki smirked. "Perfect setting for a battle where the loser dies and the winner walks away with the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, don't you think?"

Shinji watched as Itachi growled as he summoned his Susanoo.

Shinji followed suit and called upon his as he told Yin Kurama, "Bring up all of my bad memories. We need to turn my Susanoo into a Susanoo-Tailed Beast chakra shroud hybrid.

As his bad memories floated into his mind, Shinji and his Susanoo morphed. The Susanoo was now a full body. It had seven tails and looked like the seven-tailed fox shroud that Naruto took on but with samurai-like armor on the chest and shoulders.

Itachi's Sword of Totsuka came down only to be blocked by a sword of black fire that formed in Shinji's fox shroud-Susanoo hybrid's right hand. Both Susanoo sabers locked and wouldn't move. Neither swordsman was willing to give up.

Itachi tried to deliver a punch with his Susanoo's Yata Mirror, but, sadly that arm was held back by seven fox tails and one arm.

Itachi and Shinji were interlocked, no one winning the struggle or losing. In a battle between normal, Susanoo it would have lasted 'til someone ran out of chakra. But, seeing as Shinji's was now a fox shroud hybrid and had legs now, this stand off ended with Shinji kicking Itachi away into a wall.

The powered kick knocked Itachi out, making his Susanoo vanished as he was sent flying into the wall.

Shinji dropped his fox shroud-Susanoo hybrid monster form. The boy was panting. He rubbed his eyes as everything started to look blurry. He had begun to lose his vision, so it looked like having Yin Kurama in him only slowed down his loss of sight.

Shinji watched Itachi fall from the nice dent that was made in the metal wall and fall 5 feet to the ground. Shinji jumped down after him. He saw that Itachi was still unconscious. Now was his chance. Shinji reached out with his right hand.

A second later a disgusting twist and rip was heard that made Itachi awaken with a scream.

The former-Leaf shinobi held his left eye socket, which now no longer held an eye. "YOU RIPPED MY EYE OUT!"

With out a moment of delay, Shinji ripped out his right eye and placed Itachi's into the socket. For a second his right eye socket glowed with the purple light of his Tailed Beast chakra.

Then, Shinji uncovered the eye to show to the world his new Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan. The boy smirked as he held his old right eye in his hand. "You were going to do the same to me." The following second, his blade went through Itachi's neck, killing the last known Uchiha.

Shinji returned his blade to the seal on the back of his hand and then jumped back to the LCL tank to look at his reflection. It was then that he got a look at his new right eye.

The white part of the eye was black. Nothing new there. The iris was red and shaped like a six-pointed star. His old one was shaped like a star, too, so he didn't see too much of a change with that. The pupil was black and shaped like a three-pointed star with a red dot in the middle. That was new.

Shinji looked at himself for a minute before he turned his Sharingan off like he had so many times before. Now, his left eye which was truly his returned to normal while his new right eye which was Itachi's up to a minute ago didn't change.

Shinji lowered his headband over his right eye. "I can't turn the Eternal off. That might be a problem."

Back in the lab, Ritsuko and Maya were still stunned at what they had seen. Then Shinji walked in and placed a red eye ball on the monitor. "You want a Sharingan eye to look, at Ritsuko. Well, here's one. I don't need this one anymore since I clamed a replacement from the now-dead Itachi Uchiha."

For a second, Shinji lifted his headband to show his new eye to the two women. The two ladies passed out.

Shinji covered his new eye again. The boy smiled. Most people hated the Curse of Hatred, but not him. After all, if it wasn't for Itachi being so hateful, he never would have fell for his trap and he wouldn't have had the Eternal right then.

In Misato's apartment, Akamaru, Kyū and Pen-Pen were left alone for a couple of hours.

The following is what they did and, for your reading pleasure, their animal noises have been translated into English. Enjoy.

Kyū was walking around exploring when Akamaru walked up to her and said, "Hey, pretty lady. What you doing later?"

Kyū stuck her nose up and said, "I am the daughter of Kurama, king of the foxes. As such, I, the princess of the kitsune, will not dirty myself by allowing a horny mutt such as yourself to even think of touching me."

Akamaru walked away sadly while Pen-Pen, who was drinking a beer on the couch, said, "As a penguin, I know cold, and that was super cold, girl."

Kyū just kept looking around.
