Chapter 195
Cordelia seemed to be functioning fairly well after Jessie's death. She attended school, helped Harmony prepare for her baby. Cordelia didn't want to break down, didn't want to be weak. But putting up this act was becoming more difficult. School, her screenplay, reminded her of Jessie. He'd gone from protecting her to trying to eat her in a few hours. Xander and Willow had reached out to Cordy, but they seemed better alone with each other. This seemed odd since Willow was gay, but then maybe they worked well together because there was no chance of sex. Willow still did her countdown till graduation, but they knew Jessie would never experience graduation. When Cordy helped Harmony she remembered the child that she'd aborted, and she felt guilt. It seemed that Harmony was stronger than Cordelia. Cordelia considered joining Buffy's little group, helping to fight evil, avenging Jessie' death in a way. But she couldn't bring Jessie back. And putting on this brave face was becoming more difficult every day.
