AN- Sorry it's been longer, it's been a busy few weeks! Getting writing time in his hard! It's been awhile since I said that I just wanted to throw out that Emma in this story is not the same Emma as Jesus was dating. Emma here is just a childhood friend with a twin named Kate. I thought four letter names were cute for twins. Forgetting about Jesus's teammate Emma. :)

Last weeks Fosters Epic right?

Enjoy!

The Fosters

Along the wall of the school on the outside that faced out to the beach they had set up a memorial for all the fallen. On his lunch break with Lena's permission Jesus walked three blocks to a store and had come back. Now he stood in front of the memorial with a bag in his hands. Taking in all the names and pictures of those fallen.

"Hey baby" Lena's voice came from behind him and he turned around giving her a small nod. He didn't even care that she'd just called him baby at school in public.

"I'd thought I'd find you here" She said softly "You okay?"

Jesus nodded as he walked along the wall "Yeah, I mean no, I mean I don't mama." He sighed as he stopped in front of part of the wall that was dedicated to Kate. He rummaged around his bag before pulling out a tiny pink elephant and placed it by her name. "Emma used to tell me how much you loved elephants" He whispered to her. "Take care of Emma, please"

Lena placed her hand over her heart as he watched Jesus move to the next spot over kneeling in front of it. His fingers traced Emma's name. "I never pictured saying good bye to you Em. It sucks ass" He mumbled before digging in his bag and pulling out a stuffed gorilla with a skate board attached to it. "I know cheesy" He scoffed "And you're laughing at me, but I had to. When I turn eighteen Ems I am still going to skydiving. It won't be the same without you, but I'll do it for you. For Us."

He sat there for a few more minutes with Emma's gorilla in his hands before he set it down and stood up straight. "I'll see you again someday Emma, this isn't goodbye it's just… See ya later."

Lena tried to swallow the lump in her throat but no matter how hard she tried she couldn't. Tears began to fall as she watched her son's heart ache for his friend.

As if he sensed she was crying Jesus turned around and offered Lena a teary eyed small smile.

That was it, she lost it a sob racked her body so hard she thought for sure she'd fall but she couldn't because her son had rushed to her quickly and engulfed her in the biggest hug she think he'd ever given her. He buried his face in his curls as a sob racked his body as well.

Lena couldn't tell who was holding on to who was holding onto to who. But they were holding each other. Safe in the others arms.

Jesus eventually broke away wiping at his eyes. "This sucks mama"

She nodded as she used her thumbs to wipe tears away from his cheeks "Big time little dude."

Jesus cleared his throat and went over to the bag he had that was laying by Emma's name "I have something for you too." He scoffed his toe on the cement "I mean it's nothing big or anything. Just something I got at Walgreen's and you and I both know how much allowance I earn and…"

"Baby" Lena said reaching out and touching his shoulder.

He stopped and dug around and in the bag pulling out a light teal and crystal beaded bracelet and handed it to her. "I picked this out because the colors remind of the sky with clouds and" He looked down "Sometimes people talk about angels watching us maybe from the clouds. I like that thought. Angles sitting on a cloud watching us." He stammered as his cheeks were turning red "So I got you this bracelet because you survived. Like you had a team angels keeping you safe. I just wanted you to have something that was special because you survived" He added clearing his throat.

More tears, Lena's hands shook as she held the bracelet back out to him.

His eyes got big before they shadowed "I know, it was dumb. I am sorry" He said reaching for it.

"No" She managed to squeak out, holding it out of his reach until she knew he wouldn't take it because he thought she'd thought it was dumb "Not dumb, will you put it on me? Please?"

Jesus looked up at her with surprise for a moment before turning his attention to the clasp. He fastened it to her wrist and then kissed her hand.

Lena shook her head "You never cease to amaze me with your heart Jesus."

"I keep thinking about how much losing Emma hurts" He said playing with the paper bag in his hands "Like this pain, I've never felt before, but then I realize how much more it would hurt if I had lost you, or one of my sister's." He reached into the bag and pulled out two more bracelets both blues with crystals just different shades, so all three were different but similar. "I got one for Mariana and Callie too."

Lena leaned in and kissed his tear stained cheek. "I love you son" She whispered.

"I love you too mama" He put the bracelets for his sister's in his pocket and wiped at his eyes again. "I am late class, I know you don't have to but can you write me a note to get in?"

"Absolutely" She nodded "Today is a different day bud, rules are more relaxed and you needed this."

Jesus nodded "I did, I need to talk to Emma. I couldn't at her funeral."

Lena wrapped her arm around his shoulder "I understand that buddy" She said as she led him towards the inside of the school.

"How's Jude?" Jesus asked as they walked inside "Not mad that I told you about him trying to leave is he?"

Lena shook her head "No, he's not mad at you. He understands you were just looking out for him. He just needed a little reassurance from me. I've checked on him a few times and he seems to be doing better"

"And Mariana and Brandon?" He asked "Have you seen them?"

"I had lunch with Mariana" Lena nodded "She's hanging in there, looking a little pale actually I think she's got a headache. She's not been sleeping the best."

"We know" Jesus mumbled "Our room is right next to yours, we hear the girls."

"I am sorry buddy" Lena said rubbing his back "We try to get them quiet as soon as we can."

"It's not your fault any more than it is theirs." He shrugged "We understand, they saw and heard things we can't even understand."

"You guys are being such great brothers" She shook her head "I am so proud of you."

They got to Jesus's class and he took a deep breath "So she'll be okay for the rest of the day?"

Lena nodded "She'll be fine, I told her last class which is Study hall if she needed to lay down for a bit in the nurse's office I'd do some paper work there with her."

"And Brandon?"

"Quiet" Lena nodded "Seems to be just taking everything in and internalizing it"

Jesus nodded "Two classes left, we can do this" He said softly as Lena leaned in and kissed him one more time "Love you" She whispered before opening the door and sticking her head in giving his teacher a thumbs up sign to say he had been with her.

Mr. Snider nodded in Lena's direction as he offered Jesus a warm smile and welcoming him in.

Jesus turned back around and gave Lena a small little wave before taking his seat. She stood outside his door for a few more minutes watching him as he pulled out his book and began to read like everyone else. She waited to make sure he was fully settled in and okay before she walked away.

She made it half way down the hall before she found herself leaning against some lockers fingering the sparkly beaded bracelet on her wrist. Her heart ached and soared at the same time. Ached for all the loss and pain the school was feeling that day, ached for the pain her own children were going through, and soared without much love and respect seemed to be pouring out of every child and staff member in the building as well as her own children. It was an interesting feeling to have your heart ache and soar at the same time.

The Fosters

Stef felt movement next to her. She put her laptop on the side table and turned slightly to run her fingers through Callie's hair as she began to turn more.

Callie rolled onto her back and her eyes opened slowly.

Stef looked down at her and smiled "Hello, my baby"

Callie blinked twice then rubbed her face with the back of her hand before letting out a little groan.

Stef's eyes filled with concern "Callie, sweets, are you okay?"

She nodded "mmhmm" She nodded as she continued to rub her face with her hands trying to wake up better. "Mom, I don't feel good" She mumbled

Stef shook her head as she placed her hand on Callie's forehead. "Baby, you've got a fever again"

Callie's lip trembled but she brought in and bit down to keep from crying.

Stef glanced at the clock "Two hours until your appointment, I can live with that, in the meantime what do you say about some Tylenol and having gram make you a grilled cheese?"

Callie crinkled her nose a little bit "I don't know how much I can eat, but I'll try."

"That's what like to hear" Stef said swinging her legs over the side of the bed. "I'll be right back my love, you just stay and rest"

"Can I text mama now?" Callie asked softly as she rubbed her face again before scooting to an upright position.

Stef nodded and grabbed Callie's phone and tossed it to her. Think of a movie you want to watch with me. I'll be right back, I am going to go get Gram to start on our lunches."

Callie nodded as she used her finger to swipe across the screen as she started to text to Lena.

How's your day going?- Callie

She'd barley looked away from the screen when her phone buzzed in her hands.

Hi honey! Free to talk? Can I call you?—Mama

Yes- Callie

Wasn't even a full second before Callie's phone lit up again! She swiped it and put it to her ear.

"Hi" She greeted softly hearing Lena's soothing voice on the other end "How's it going today?" She listened as Lena told her about the assembly and the nice chat she had with McKenzie's mom.

"So the day's going low key?" Callie asked as she leaned back against the head board. She listened as Lena agreed the day was pretty quiet, and wasn't the same without her there. Then Lena asked her the dreaded question. How are you feeling?

Instant tears that she held back her voice cracked but she answered truthfully. "Worse, the this morning" She mumbled "I think you were right sending me home, I've slept for hours, and I might sleep again." She heard the concern in Lena's voice as she asked to talk to Stef.

"She's down stairs, getting Tylenol and lunch" Callie explained rubbing her eyes "But she said I can go to the doctor with you still. I am just going to rest until we come get you" She nodded as Lena told her to have Stef call her when she was back in the room and told her she had to go take care of something really quick but she'd talk to her soon.

"I will, bye mom" She said softly as she hung up the phone.

Closing her eyes resting her phone on her chest while waiting for Stef to come back.

She must have drifted back to sleep because she jumped about a foot when Stef came back carrying a tray with sandwiches water and Tylenol.

"I am sorry sweetie pie" Stef smiled watching her jump "I didn't mean to make you jump."

"Mama, wants you to call her" Callie said as she sat back up instantly reaching for a water on Stef's tray.

"okay okay easy does it" Stef warned as she slid into bed next to Callie and watched her greedily drink the whole thing of water in a big swig. "Babe, you're making me just a little bit nervous."

"I was just thirsty" Callie shook her head putting the empty cup down on the bedside table.

"Eat, something please" Stef said putting the tray between them "Then some Tylenol, Yes?"

Callie nodded in agreement At this point she'd do anything to feel more like herself.

Stef placed her hand back on Callie's forehead for a moment "Two hours" She told herself knowing at this point it would be easier to get her into her own appointment then to take her to the hospital. Though it didn't ease her worrying.

She watched as Callie picked at her sandwich and she used this time to call Lena.

She wasn't surprised when Lena answered on the first ring "Hello my love" Stef greeted "How are you and my babies doing today? We miss you here at home." She looked over at Callie who nodded in agreement to missing them.

"Oh" Stef shook her head as Lena said she'd feel them in later but it wasn't an easy day on her or the kids. However Lena knew those things could wait, right now she wanted Stef's opinion on how Callie was really doing.

"She's running a fever again, and pale tired, um she's thirsty I think she's dehydrated. She's eating lunch right now, so that's a good sign. I am just going to rest with her until we go to your doctor appointment. I think it's easier then rushing her in now. Yes?"

Stef nodded as Lena agreed "Well we're going to rest now, we'll pick you up soon! Love you baby" She hung up the phone and turned to Callie. "You good to rest until we go get mom?"

Callie nodded and finished half of her sandwich already rubbing her eyes snuggling down into Lena's pillow.

"Baby Tylenol" She reminded her handing her the pills and her own glass of water.

Callie took them and down Stef's almost entire glass before handing it back to her. "Can I sleep now?" She asked

Stef nodded "Yes, my love" Her voice soft as she tried to keep the worry out.

The Fosters

Two hours had never passed by more slowly for Stef then these two did. Granted the Tylenol did kick in and Callie's fever went down but having a sick kid and not being able to help just sucked.

Now Stef was sitting in the school parking lot with Callie waiting for the girls while her mother had gotten out of her car and had gotten into Lena's and was now waiting for the boys.

Callie was curled up in the back watching the kids coming out of the building.

"There are a lot of parents picking up today" She noted

Stef half laughed "Yeah, I don't blame them."

It wasn't too much longer before Stef spotted Jude and Jesus coming towards the cars, Stef quickly got out of the car to greet them "Hello my babies"

"Hi" Jude said rushing to her looking relieved to see her. He threw his arms around her waist and held on tightly.

"Oh bud" Stef said softy hugging him "My buddy! I missed you too" She kissed the top of his head. "Are you okay?"

He nodded "Yeah, I am fine. I just wanted my mom."

"I just wanted you too" Stef said softly

Jesus opened Callie's door and knelt down beside her. "Hey" He greeted.

"Hey" She said tiredly "How was it?"

"Truthfully?" He asked "Sucked ass today. It's hard to not have my friends here anymore."

Callie patted his hand "I am sorry"

Jesus reached into his pocket and fished out a bracelet "I went to the store on my lunch break" He explained as he took her hand in his and clasped the bracelet around her wrist. "I bought one for you Mariana and mama" He said softly "Because it reminds me of how you were protected and you survived, like Angels watching you from the clouds. I know it's dumb" He said looking away only to have Callie lean forward and throw her arms around him. "I love it, thank you"

Stef and Jude watched the scene unfold Stef's eyes filled with tears. Her kids amazed her.

"Look here comes mama, B and Mariana" Jude said excitedly as the three remaining joined them.

Jesus kissed Callie's cheek before getting up to go greet his twin a bear hug before he repeated the steps he had just done with Callie.

"Our kid is amazing" Stef said as she wrapped her arms around Lena watching Jesus and Mariana's exchange.

"He's had a tough day" Lena nodded "But he is amazing" She looked to where Jude was now talking to Callie "And Jude, we have to watch out for him and running too. He tried to leave the school today" Lena whispered to Stef "But Jesus stopped him."

Stef's eyes got wide "Oh, that's not what a mother wants to hear. Is he okay?"

Lena nodded "We talked, I told him running was never the answer. He just wanted Callie or more then he wanted me or you to just reassure him. He's scared."

Stef nodded watching him for a minute until Brandon came up to her and much like Jude had done quietly wrapped her up in a tight hug not letting go. "Hey baby" She whispered to him. "I love you"

He nodded "Love you"

Stef held him for a few more moments while Lena got the kids situated in what car and greeted Sharon telling her to feed the kids whatever they wanted for a snack today, and they'd let her know about dinner if they'd make it home in time or not. Doctor's appointments ran on their own times and they had to get the girls new bags. She didn't want Mariana or Callie if she went the next day to have to lug their stuff around with them. Or make many trips to their lockers.

Stef kissed Brandon and ran her fingers through his hair before breaking away "I've got to get sis to the doctor, you go home and grandma?"

Brandon nodded "Sure" He waved to the girls before wrapping his arm around Jude leading him to the car.

Jesus helped Mariana into the back of the car and made sure she was buckled before shutting the door waving to her.

She waved back with the arm that sported her new bracelet, that she was clearly in awe over.

He waved back before jogging over to Sharon and jumping in Lena's car.

"Alright, my babies." Stef turned to those in her car "Let's go get mama taken care of, Callie feeling better and finding some new bags for my girls"

Jesus dropped his surf board down on the sandy beach and then flopped to his towel as Emma did the same.

"Good, wave's dude" She smiled "That was awesome"

He rolled on to his back and looked up at the sky. "They were awesome" He sighed "Can you believe tomorrow is the first day of high school?"

She shook her head "I remember thinking this day seemed so far away. Now it's tomorrow. It's like the last few chapters of our childhood. After that the world is ours. Being a grown up worrying bills and jobs and cars" She shook her head "We should enjoy this chapter."

Jesus cringed thinking about bills and jobs. "Well when we get there we should close our childhood chapter in a big way?"

Emma rolled to her side "Whatcha thinking Foster?"

He stared up at the sky watching a cloud change shapes slightly "Something that involves being up there"

She raised her eyebrow and pointed up "Up there?"

"I think that when we graduate and we are both eighteen. We should sky dive!"

Emma sat up quickly "You want to jump out of a plane for real?"

"Come on Emma" He said sitting up "We've talked about sky diving on and off for years. Lets really make it our plan. Let's do it after graduation! Well unless you're a sissy?"

Emma punched him the arm. "You're the sissy Foster, you'll pee your pants and scream like a little girl all the way down. Oh I am in for that show!"

He slugged her back "We'll see who's peeing their pants." He laughed "We'll see on the way down. Four years from now we are doing this!"

"Absolutely it's on!" Emma said spitting into her hand holding it out to Jesus

"This is still as gross as it was when we were eight" He said spitting into his hand as they shook on it.

"Sissy" She taunted as he shoved her.

"We'll see Emma" He laughed "We'll see."

"You can count on that" She laughed "I can't wait!"
