Chapter 214
Buffy, Xander, and Willow returned to Sunnydale highschool on January 2nd. They tried functioning even though Cordelia wasn't here. Like with Jessie their friends were dead, and they couldn't even bury her. People wondered what happenned. Willow wrote a note, forging it to look like it was written by Cordelia, telling her parents she was fine. Willow hoped Buffy would let her use it, so Cordelia's parents would't worry. Willow knew she should probably write a fake suicide note, but she couldn't bring herself to do it. And whatever words she used in a note, her parents would assume the worst unless they could actually hear their daughter's voice. Making up cover stories for the mysterious death of a friend, might become more neccessary as time went on. Buffy tried to remain strong. Xander, Willow, and Tara couldn't understand how Buffy could do it so well. They didn't realize how hard this was for her. However many times this happenned it wasn't getting any easier. Buffy was however getting used to it. If some of Buffy's dreams really were memories of past lives, than she might very well be stuck in this same pattern for eternity. Xander and Willow knew about the screenplay that Jessie and Cordelia worked on together. They thought vampires were cool once, back when they thought vampires were figments of Steven King's imagination. They remembered being children, telling ghost stories with Jessie, calling themselves "Midnight Society." There was also the numerous times Xander and Willow went on the Castle Dracula ride, Willow getting scared and holding Xander's hand for comfort, helping Xander's ego. Funny how these things seemed less fun after they killed their friends. But it seemed Cordy's sacrifice was not in vain. The group kept track of Harmony's baby. Dr Chirs Epps told his brother Daryl and sister-in-law April about the orphaned child. They decided to adopt her, even named her Cordelia.
