Hi guys, I had a little depressing news today after waking up this morning to find one of my adopted rats 'Makarov' dead but on the upside, the Easter holidays are finally here and I have managed to get a 3rd part time job. I hope you guys have a great Easter

Carlisle's POV
I hated seeing Jasper like this. He was always wary, overly cautious and very protect of Alice but now he snapped at anybody who tried to go near him and was protecting either Rosalie or some imaginary person that only he could see but I assumed it was Maria since he was seeing a flashback; after all, he had told me that despite everything that she did to him, he still felt the urge to protect her. I guess it was instinct since she was his creator but that gave her no right to hurt him. It was like a parent abusing their child with the excuse of 'I created them, I do what I want with them'.
It upset me to think that Jasper had gone through that and now he was seeing it all over again. I had been keeping a close eye on Jasper but then again, I had been doing that ever since he tried to end his vampire life; only now, it was a lot more different as he was now dangerous.
I noticed him watching me from the corner of the room. His eyes occasionally flickered to Esme or Edward but I appeared to be his main possible threat. I was used to it though; I was always the one that Jasper feared the most with no thanks to Maria. She was the reason why Jasper found it difficult to look me in the eye or why he was always so formal to me by marking me with the name 'sir' but now I couldn't even get a word out of him.
Jasper suddenly began to whimper as he lowered his head in fear. This wasn't the first time that this had happened, though. I think he was being approached by a vampire he feared deeply but yet again, none of us could see them but if I could, I would fight them until they left him alone. He has already been through too much.
All of a sudden, Jasper ran from the corner and smashed his way out of the glass window. Without a second thought, I ran after him, only this time I wouldn't give up following him. Jasper was in a world of fear and vulnerability. He also viewed himself as a human drinker, he has no idea where he really is or who he is around which is a terrible thing because if he manages to find a public area, he will expose himself and I was not willing to have my son sentenced to death by the Volturi.
Edward ran past me as he was faster but it was an advantage to him because that also meant that he was faster than Jasper so as long as Edward could still hear his mind, we would find him.
Be careful, Edward. If you find him, avoid looking like a threat I thought out to him. The last thing I needed was a dead or injured son with the other one on the run to a human buffet. After all, if Jasper was good at wrestling with his brothers, he would be even better and dangerous if he is in a flashback of the southern wars.
Edward was now out of my sight but I continued to run. Last time, Edward had handled it by playing the role of the enemy in Jasper's flashback but I didn't think that would work this time; especially because Jasper had ran from them.
I suddenly heard an ear piercing animalistic scream; well, ear piercing to a vampire. I ran towards the sound where I found Edward pinning Jasper. That explained the loud noise from Jasper because the position that he was in had frightened him into thinking that he was about to get himself killed.
He tried to push Edward off him as he panicked. Edward's hands were pinning Jasper's wrists as his knees were putting pressure on his abdomen but Jasper was kicking his legs to make it harder for Edward to restrain him. I kneeled down by Jasper in hope that the closer I was, the more likely he would be able to hear me over the voices in his flashback.
"Jasper, I know that you are in there and I need you to be strong enough to fight this. You are not where you think you are; you're safe. I promise that nobody else is going to hurt you. I won't let them" I tried.
I had hoped that it would work and that Jasper would turn his head to me to tell me that he was okay but even if Jasper did come out of it, all he would have done would be looking at Edward in fear. How else would he react if he woke up with a vampire on top of him, keeping him pinned?
"Jasper, calm down. It's alright. It's Carlisle. Do you remember me? I'm not the person you think I am and I promise that I'll keep you safe. It is my duty to. As leader of a coven, I should be the one protecting you and not the other way round" I told him.
He was raised to believe that Maria had to be protected when it was her job to protect Jasper. Jasper had stopped struggling against Edward but he didn't relax.
"Can you hear me, Jasper?" I asked, hopeful.
Jasper suddenly pushed Edward off him and moved towards me with warning growls. I take that as a no. He must have been using his gift on Edward to make him feel relaxed so that he would loosen his grip on him; smart boy. I thought it was a good idea to keep my body low so I wouldn't appear as a threat but it just gave Jasper an advantage to attack.
He pushed me to the ground and bared his teeth close to my neck which left me with no clue what to do; If I move, he'll bite, if I remain still, he could still bite me. I wasn't sure if his intentions were to just injure me or even kill me but I didn't want Jasper to face the guilt of doing any damage when he finally comes out of it because after being a very sensitive person, he blames himself all too easily.
Jasper was about to snap his teeth and sink them into my neck when he was suddenly pushed off me and pressed against a tree by a recognisable figureā¦Peter.
Peter's POV
The second that I had heard that Jasper was in trouble, I panicked. Jasper was like a very close brother to me and I hadn't seen him in so long. I was worried about him because I always knew that he wouldn't get over the damage that Maria had caused him. I always thought he was stupid when he believed the lies that she told him but it was only because she had damaged him so bad that he was desperate to believe them; desperate to feel loved. That's why I was glad when he found Alice. I thought that it would have made all of his worries go away but I was wrong.
At least I had managed to get him out of there before he had got himself killed. It had taken a lot of convincing because Jasper didn't want to leave Maria unprotected but that was when I had to break it to him and admit to him that he was nothing to her and that she would eventually kill him anyway; perhaps that was when his depression got bad.
I always hated the way she had neglected him but as much as I wanted to, I couldn't stand up for him otherwise Maria would have killed me right there and then but it's all over now and the damage has already been done. Now I was in need to help him recover for what has troubled him in over a century.
So now I was here, doing the dangerous work of calming Jasper down. It was rather ironic calming down an empath but it wasn't the first time. I had done this on many occasions back in the southern wars and I always got a bite or two from him before he finally cuts it out but we were all used to the pain with the help of Maria.
Jasper was trying to fight against me but although he was always the better fighter, he was very confused about what he could really see or hear. He kept growling as he was dodging my moves to grab his arms in an attempt to restrain him but with no surprise, as I move my arm forward, his teeth sunk into my shoulder but instead of letting go, his jaw remained locked into my skin.
He even began to tug on my shoulder to put me through more pain but I wasn't willing to have a chunk of flesh ripped out of my arm so before it reached that point, I began to shout at him.
"Jasper, stop it! It me, Jay! It's Peter" I yelled.
I got his attention and he instantly opened his mouth to release the grip his teeth had on my shoulder. He looked at me carefully. He wouldn't recognise the others because they were not part of the world that he was seeing but I, on the other hand, was. He was seeing his time in the southern wars and I was there with him.
"Peter" he whispered.
He looked at my fresh bite with fear but I rubbed my head against his cheek to reassure him that it was okay. He relaxed at my touch as he rested his chin on my shoulder. I turned my head to look at the leader of Jasper's coven, Carlisle.
"He'll be fine as long as Charlotte or I stay near him until he snaps out of it. We are the only ones that he is familiar with right now" I explained.
I found it rather upsetting really. During the southern wars, Jasper was always the one that was looking after me and making sure that I didn't get hurt by any of the other vampires; well, that was the case until Maria began to weaken him by lack of blood.
"That's fine but do you have any idea how to bring him back?" Carlisle asked.
That was the main reason why they had asked for our help. I usually just waited it out and stayed close to him to offer protection but this time it sounded serious; it had been a few days but his usual flashbacks lasted no longer than half an hour. It worried me but I had to think of something.
"If I stay with him, he might just come out of it on his own but perhaps if Alice stays close, too, then it might help Jasper come back to reality. It is in our instinct to recognize our mates but unfortunately, if he could see Maria in Alice's presence, then he won't notice her because all of his focus would be on Maria" I told them.
I knew that it was difficult for Jasper's mate to hear it but it was the truth and right now, they needed to know everything they could to help him out.
"Well then we're in trouble because he can always see her"
If I remember correctly, it was Edward talking. I wonder where his wife and half immortal daughter are.
"Then we'll have to wait it out. Jasper is a fighter, he is still in there somewhere" I said, surely.
All we needed to do was make Jasper feel safe and comfortable and we need to be patient but until then, we have to think about what we need to do for when he comes back to us.
We had managed to get Jasper back to the Cullen's house which was actually pretty easy. All I needed to do was call his name occasionally since he just followed me back but stopped and looked around every time someone inside his head called him.
He was now sitting on the sofa, cuddled up to me. He was paying attention to my shoulder, licking and sucking at the wound. Although I could have aided it myself, it made him feel better if I let him do it; it was like saying sorry. Even once he was done licking my shoulder, he moved onto my throat. By allowing him to do this, it expressed my trust in him. He was testing me to see if I still trusted him after he hurt me. If it was any other vampire, excluding Charlotte, I would have growled and pushed them away as it was natural for a vampire to act that way when another vampire was near their neck but since this was Jasper, I didn't even tense. We both trusted each other with our lives.
When he was satisfied with his results to the test and expressing his apology, he hid his head under my neck and closed his eyes. Although it wasn't possible for a vampire to sleep, it still helped us feel more relaxed and right now, that was exactly what Jasper needed.
Alice had slowly approached and took a seat next to her mate on the sofa as she watched him with sadness.
"He may not be able to hear you but he can still feel your emotions. Try not to worry; he'll be fine. Just make sure he knows how much you love him" I advised her.
I was sure of this because Jasper was a lot calmer when I was calm but he was tense, alert and wary when somebody like Emmett or Edward walked in the room because of how cautious they were feeling around him. Alice nodded and tried to hide her sad emotions and fill them with love as she put her hand in his.
Jasper didn't seem to respond to her touch; he just stayed restful as he leaned against me. His eyes were still closed which was actually strange because even when Jasper tried to relax, his eyes always flickered open to make sure that the newborns were keeping their distance.
"Jasper?" I called.
He didn't move. I used my hand to touch his face but he didn't even flinch which was definitely unusual. I was very curious now as I began to shake his body.
"Jasper, hey. Come on, Jay. Open your eyes" I ordered.
He still wasn't moving which caused Alice to start panicking.
"Peter, what's happening?" She asked, worried.
I ignored her as I wasn't sure how to answer that question; I hadn't experienced this with Jasper before, or any vampire for that matter. I started shaking him harder when his eyes suddenly shot open. He looked around the room and his eyes flickered to a relieved Alice but then he noticed my presence.
"Peter? What are you doing here?"
Any mistakes found will be corrected when I get the chance.
