Kate Lockley stood over her father's grave. It had been three years since that punk shot him in the back. Now he was rotting away in prison, Trevor Lockley lay in the ground. Didn't seem fair to Kate. But this would soon be remedied. Ever since Kate killed Warren she'd taken the evidence, researched zombies and rituals to raise the dead. It seemed odd that Aristad hadn't raised Amy or Warren. Kate's research said it was almost impossible to raise suicides. One theory was that the raised chose to come back, suicides had chosen death. The other theory was that when the dead were raised only their darkness came back. The soul had reached Heaven, leaving their darkness behind. But Amy and Warren chose death and destruction, more likely they'd been sent someplace warmer than California. There had been no darkness to raise. Kate hoped the first theory was true. Aristad used his zombies for an evil purpose, but Kate could do better. She'd found other rituals among Aristad's belongings. Kate could bring her father back, and not just him. Other cops who died on the street, they would come back to protect the innocent. Others could fight the big battles between good and evil, it was the innocent people who died in the crossfire. Now at least, they would have more cops looking out for them.
