Chapter 5:
Hey, folks! What's up? Christmas vacation is finally here! I have all the time in the world to write but as many of you know, this is not the only fiction I need to update. I still have my KHR fictions that need to be updated too. I hope you understand my pain and suffering. -_- I'm dying… urgh… please read and review…
"Morning, Syuu!" Tezuka greeted Syuusuke as the shorter brunet walked out of his apartment. He had been walking Fuji to and from the restaurant every day before he goes back to his own place to continue working on his novel. "How was your night?"
"Good morning, Tezuka!" Fuji greeted back with a smile. He's getting used to the boyfriend-boyfriend feel of having Tezuka around him as much as the other male could afford. He's kinda amazed at how the bespectacled man manage to juggle time between his hectic schedule as a writer and visiting Fuji just to check on the tensai almost every day. "I had a great night! Nisu and Umi felt like they were dancing all night so I really didn't get my eight-hour sleep."
"Umi and Nisu were naughty last night, I see." Tezuka took Fuji's bag from him and started walking to the elevator alongside the tensai. "So are you okay?"
Fuji smiled at his former captain. "I'm okay. I just think that these guys are overly active." He caressed his rounded belly lovingly. He is already on his ninth month but he still goes to work like he always does.
Tezuka managed to smile at Fuji. They walked silently towards Fuji's work place.
"Tezuka, are you okay?" Fuji asked when he noticed the other guy spacing out.
Tezuka looked at Fuji. "Huh? What?"
"I asked you if you're okay. You're spacing out." Fuji said as they stopped at a traffic light. He watched the former captain's face. It looked bothered and he can damn feel the negative aura that the bespectacled man was emitting.
"Of course, I'm okay. Why shouldn't I be?" Tezuka said. He smiled at the tensai but the smile didn't reach his eyes. He was sad.
Fuji simply watched him. They didn't speak again until they arrived at Fuji's work place.
"I'll come pick you up again tonight." Tezuka said. He gave Fuji's bag to him.
"Okay. Thank you, Tezuka. I appreciate it."
The day went on like a daze for Fuji. He kept thinking about Tezuka. Why would the former Seigaku captain space out like that? Did something come up?
"Fuji-san, there is a commotion going on at the dining area. We couldn't hold the customer from making a scene." Uehara, his right-hand man said.
Fuji sighed. This is not new to his restaurant but it still gave him a great deal of a headache. He stood up from his swivel chair and made his way to the dining area. He supported his huge tummy as he walked. He saw a customer pointing at one of his waiters' face.
"I ordered steak and you brought me caviar?! What are you, stupid?" the customer raised her voice just to get more attention from the other customers. She succeeded with her plan and the other customers started looking at them.
"Excuse me, madam, what seems to be the problem here?" Fuji asked politely. He wore his infamous angelic smile but deep inside him, he's boiling. How dare these people scream at his employees when he himself hadn't done it? Not like he was planning on doing something like that.
The customer sized him up. She smirked. "This stupid waiter of yours brought me caviar instead of the steak that I wanted! It was a special order for my companion here and he messed it up!"
Fuji still wore his smile patiently. He looked at the waiter. "What happened, Asuka-kun?" he asked.
The waiter flinched a little. He knows that Fuji was ready to strike. "Sir, she ordered caviar for her special meal. I even have my list here, sir. I'm really sure that she ordered caviar and not steak. The couple next to them was the ones who ordered steak and not them." The waiter explained. He handed the notepad he has to Fuji to show him the order number.
"You mother fucking liar! I ordered steak not caviar! Tell them, hon!" the woman yelled at the male sitting on the chair with a cigarette.
"We did order steak. That stupid waiter of yours made a mistake and he doesn't want to admit it. Stupid jerk. Why did you hire somebody like him? How could your restaurant possibly survive?" the man said as he sucked in smoke before puffing it out.
Fuji gave his infamous sadistic smile that had gotten the other employees backing away from him. All of them know what the tensai could do once he had released that infamous smile of his. "First of all, this is a Japanese restaurant. We only accept special orders once in a while so you are pretty lucky to have been chosen, madam. And according to this notepad, you are on table 56." He looked at the table number and nodded in satisfaction when he saw that the writings on the notepad were right. "It is written here that your order was 2 orders of wasabi sushi-large, 2 orders of Ichiiraku ramen-large, 5 bottles of sake and one special order which is caviar." He looked at the couple.
"That's a fucking lie!" the woman screamed. Her face was red; whether from anger or embarrassment, Fuji doesn't give a damn.
"And second, this is a non-smoking area." Fuji continued—not really bothered by the woman's building tantrums. He grabbed the man's lit up cigarette and crushed it with his bare hand in front of the man's face. "We respect our customers here, sir, ma'am, but that is if they respect our employees too. I have a good deal for you. I won't call the police to have you arrested for the commotion you had made and you won't pay for the caviar, just pay for the other orders namely 2 orders of sushi, 2 large bowls of Ichiiraku ramen and 5 bottles of sake with a total of 180 dollars."
The couple looked at each other. "Are you saying that this is our fault?!" the woman raised her voice still. "All we wanted is steak and probably an apology—"
"Do you really think I'd let my employee apologize to something not his fault?" Fuji asked coldly. His Pacific blue eyes gleaming with impatience. He took out his phone and started typing in numbers. "Hello, Smithson, it's me, Fuji Syuusuke from Mt. Fuji Restaurant. There has been a commotion made by some customers here. Can you—"
"Here! Let's go, honey, we have nothing to do here!" the man said as he left a hundred and fifty dollars on the table and ran out of the restaurant.
Fuji watched as the couple left. The other customers and his employees clapped their hands. He simply smiled at them. "I'm so sorry for the disturbance." He said as he bowed as far as his huge tummy could let him to the other customers.
"It's okay. It's good that you got rid of them." One of the elders said with a wave of her hand. "You don't have to be pressured. Pressure is not good for your babies."
"Thanks, ma'am." He said. He looked at Uehara and smiled. "I'll be in my office if something comes up."
"You can actually leave now, sir. We can handle this." Uehara said nicely.
"I'm the manager. I should be the one closing down the restaurant. Besides, Tezuka isn't here still." He said.
Uehara smiled. He's happy about the smooth sailing of his boss' relationship with Tezuka Kunimitsu.
It has been three days and Tezuka still doesn't talk much to Fuji. "Is something wrong, Tezuka?" he asked. He's tired of waiting for Tezuka to speak about the things that are going on in his mind.
They were in Fuji's apartment because it was a Saturday night.
Tezuka looked at him. His eyes looked sad for some reason and it made Fuji's heart constrict. Is his former captain in some kind of pain? "Can't you tell me what's wrong?"
Tezuka opened his mouth as if to say something but he closed it again. He thought about it for a minute and decided something important. "Fuji…" it was weird calling someone he loved by his last name. It was a sign; a sign that he was already trying to distance himself from the tensai. It killed him.
Fuji ignored the pain in his heart when Tezuka called him by his last name.
"Fuji, Asahina-san is pregnant a-and she claims that I am the father of her child." He said without looking at the tensai. He was dying inside. He knows what the tensai will say. You have to be with her… That's what Fuji will say for sure.
"Asahina-san?" Fuji stared at Tezuka.
"She's a girl I met here the first month I was here. I was still desperately looking for you. I met her at a bar. We were both heart-broken a-and one thing led to another." Tezuka pulled at his hair. "It was just one time. I swear! It was just one time! I didn't expect her to get pregnant especially when I know I used protection!"
Fuji saw how Tezuka was suffering about the whole thing. He was undergoing through this alone. He thought. He wanted to hold the other male's hand but he couldn't. "She needs you. You have to be with her…" he said. It pierced his heart. Two weeks more and our children will be here… why now? "You have to go to her. She and your child need you."
"What about you?" Tezuka asked. His heart started to crack open. One mistake. One and it ruined everything. He looked Fuji straight in the eyes. "Don't you need me?"
Fuji shook his head. "We can manage." He reached for Tezuka's hand and squeezed it. "Kunimitsu, you're a great person and you could have been a great father to our children but I couldn't possibly live knowing that there is a child out there looking for her own father."
Tears started to cloud Tezuka's eyes. "What about our children? Umi and Nisu, won't they look for me?" his heart totally broke into shreds.
"We will manage." Warm tears started to flow on his cheeks. "Besides, it's not like you'll be living worlds away from us, right? You may watch them grow too."
Tezuka leaned forward and sobbed on Fuji's shoulder. He's dying inside. Fuji cried as he held Tezuka against him.
That night, Tezuka left with the whole world on his shoulders while Fuji sat on his couch holding on to dear life.
