Chapter 239

Vincent had never explained his motives to Spike. He'd said he could help Spike find his beloved Drusilla, in exchange for Spike doing him a favor down the line. Spike assumed there would be some sort of catch, but at least he'd have Dru back. Spike found Vincent, a few days before Wilkins was sworn in. Vincent was a warrior, Spike would be ready to kill Vincent if he had to.

Spike: You lied to me.

Vincent: Yes, I did.

Spike: Why torture me like this? Is this how you amuse yourself for eternity?

Vincent: I wanted to free them. I hoped the blood you brought into the cave would revive them.

Spike: Them? You mean the council?

Vincent: Yes. I serve the Concillium Mortuum. I figured you and the kid would work together to break that barrier. Working together you could handle the slayer and that potential. And this wouldn't expose us servants.

Spike: Well, you failed, their skeletons remain trapped.

Vincent: Really? Did the witch put the barrier back up in time?

Spike: I don't know. Anyway, that's your problem. Tell me where Dru is or your eternity ends right now.

Vincent: I don't know. I encountered her five years ago. She knew that you were searching for her, that you were in pain. She didn't care.
