Chapter 250
The first week of Richard Wilkins' administration seemed relatively un-eventful. He had done the ceremonial things, posing his likeness for the hall of presidents at Disneyworld, and predicting Fidel Castro's immenent death. But he was also working covertly, behind the scenes. He was lending support to Tobias Dupree, a demon rights activist. Dupree was filing a suit, trying to force Sunnydale's city council to allow certain non-humans to live there. Amongst Dupree's clients were Lorne, Clem, Merl, and a drugdealer named Rack. And while Wilkins was willing to negotiate openly with Karadic to end the attrocities in Sloboda, he was also organizing covert teams to eliminate that problem, should negotiations fail. Faith was a valuable part of that effort. Wilkins was aware that his old friend Eisenhower had mixed success using covert measures, but he was confident he could do better. Some would consider Richard Wilkins both a civil rights leader and a warrior for these actions. But he also had self-serving reasons for these actions. His alliances with certain demon tribes allowed Wilkins access to dark power. Karadizc was rumored to have similar power at his disposal. Wilkins planned to get this power, by diplomacy or slaughter. Besides, a far greater evil was coming. President Wilkins would need all the power he could get if he expected to be victorious against it.
