Chapter 5
Back in Bright Falls:
"As Alexa was putting clothes away in the dresser Carlos was bringing in the last suitcase as Carlos lifted the suitcase he grunted. The suitcase was heavy and filled with all of Carlos's writing supplies such as a typewriter, paper and all the usual things a writer used. It was just getting dark as Carlos got the last suitcase in the cabin as he walked into the living room he put the suitcase on the floor and walked over to the couch and plopped down breathing a sigh of relief they were finally here. Just as Carlos was starting to relax his cell phone rang grunting frustrated at his cell phone he picked his phone up from the coffee table looking at the screen he saw that it was James. Hey James whats up Carlos greeted into the phone "just checking in to see if you had made it and how you are doing" Yeah we made it here and I am good James the cabin is nice. "Great that's awesome man have you met up with any of the locals yet" not yet man Carlos said then paused wait hold on I did meet this waitress I could have sworn she was flirting with me he said to James then Carlos heard laughter coming from the other end of the line whats so funny James. "Nothing man nothing at all just thought I would check in and see how you are doing oh yeah before I go I heard there is a radio host named Pat Maine I think you should do a radio interview with him" I will think about it replied Carlos to James and hung up. Carlos put the phone on the table and laughed James had always been persistent but in a caring way Carlos knew that if James cared for someone then he would always try to help them and push them to be their best and Carlos was definitely no exception. As Alexa was coming down the steps Carlos had just hung when she heard him laugh whats so funny dear nothing that was James just calling to see how we were doing. Alexa had never cared too much for James she thought he was an annoyance and a bad influence on Carlos with all the partying and drinking but she knew that he cared for Carlos in a way that was almost brotherly maybe more than that. Carlos looked at Alexa and asked if she wanted him to light the fireplace yeah a warm fire would be nice dear Alexa replied I will put on some hot coco while you get the fire started. As Carlos watched his wife turn and walk into the kitchen he thought how could he be so lucky to end up with her he shook himself from his daydream and went over to the fireplace and proceeded to stack the logs of wood into the fireplace then crumpled up pieces of paper put them in. After putting wood and paper in the fireplace Carlos grabbed a match struck fire to it then lit the fire great job dear said Alexa as she came in to the room with the cups of coco Carlos smiled as he got up taking one of the cups from his wifes hand and sat on the couch alongside his beautiful wife. While sitting in front of the crackling warm fire in the dark room with his wife Carlos could have sworn someone or something was watching them as the hairs on his neck stood up but he just shook it off as he sat on the couch with his wife's head on his lap he drifted off to sleep.
Meanwhile in Downtown Bright Falls
"A man in a Sheriffs outfit is out doing his nightly patrol with his flashlight in hand and his gun in his holster unaware that soon his quite little town would be turned upside down.
