Because exams are over, here's a chapter.
Wow that rhymes hahahaha.
Rollercoaster of Hearts- Chapter Twenty-Two
With an irate face, Takumi shoved both his hands on the insides of his pocket furiously as he followed closely behind the blonde girl ecstatically skipping to God knows where as she hummed some tune with that gentle but not so pleasant voice of hers. He as hell would have escaped by now if only the eyes of his old man and this annoying girl's father weren't on them. Though they're out about yards away from the two, he could still feel the gazes of both men piercing through them. And he swears it send tingles to his spine. If there's one person who could scare Takumi, it would definitely be his grandfather. Sure, the latter is strict to him in a nice way, if that's even possible, but he can't help but feel all defenseless and docile just by staring at that overgrown beard of his, at the wrinkles on his face he got both from old age and stress, at the way his face scrunches whenever he gets even just a bit mad, and especially at his cold eyes penetrating deep into your very bones. Sometimes he wondered how his grandmother came to love such a cold-hearted man. Or was it arranged marriage that happened between them?
"Neh, Takumi-kun look over there, there's a swing! I want to go there!"
Irritation still etched on his face, Takumi looked at the young girl before him pointing to the spot where he and Chiyo used to hang out together sometimes even with Kuuga. He made a slight look of gloom as he let out a weak smile. The girl, Kaon took it the smile as somewhat intended for her so without anything else, she grabbed Takumi's hands in a quick grip and dragged the boy who didn't even have the time to complain.
"Waah! This will be so much fun! Takumi, push the swing for me," Kaon directed in a singsong voice as she made herself comfortable with the swing tied to a tree's branch. It was old with its ropes already darkened with dust and other dirt particles and its seat made of wood already showed sign of collapsing. But he was sure it was still strong enough to hold even two people riding it together. Somehow, in a cheesy manner, he would say it was toughen by the friendship and all the good times he, Chiyo, and Kuuga did together in the very same spot.
Takumi walked over to the back of the swing and carefully, he pushed it forward.
"Yay! This really is fun!" Kaon squealed like she's a seven year-old girl again. She was grinning and he could tell she really was happy. And along with the grin plastered on the girl's face, Takumi let out a small smile of his own. Not because he actually enjoyed her company but because Kaon's cheerful attitude today reminded him clearly of someone-that girl who never seemed to let every bad side of the world get her down. That girl, she was his inspiration in life if he must say.
"Takumi."
A snap of the finger awakened Takumi from his endless thoughts as he and Kaon was now sitting under the tree together. Well, it was more of like him babysitting this eighteen year-old teenager rather than a get-together. Honestly, he would've liked Kaon more if she just wasn't such a spoiled brat. In short, he would've liked Kaon if she wasn't Kaon. The girl was maybe ranting about some perfumes and clothes from Paris or whatsoever so he decided to bring himself to a new world of his where he could daydream all he wants. What was his dream? Well, it goes of something like…
"You're spacing out again!"
Takumi made a frown of irritation. He didn't like this moment one bit. He wondered if it would be legal to hire a double to accompany this girl instead. One moment she made him smile, indirectly then the next she goes back to that bratty attitude of hers and spoil his day yet again. That's why he was never fond of spending time with Kaon. She just goes on shoving to everyone's faces how rich and famous the Umekojis are and how she thinks of herself as the princess of the world. If he could just be rude, he'd actually tell her the truth that their family is far richer than the Umekojis. It's a good thing he could stay somewhat humble at times like this.
"Takumi! You're not listening to me!"
"Yes, I am," he said all too nonchalantly as if all the emotions in the world were gone. He was bored to hell and it seems like this girl would not let him go until the last second of her visit here.
"No, you're not. You're daydreaming or whatever you call that. All this time I was telling you my adventures in another country, you were just sitting there staring blankly into space. You were clearly not listening."
"I was just taking in all your words," came in his answer as if it was the truth. The only thing he liked about Kaon was about her naivety to things.
"Really?!" Kaon beamed with happiness as she took in Takumi's statement into something more of on the romantic side. She inched closer to him causing Takumi to back away.
Well he's glad she's easy to trick.
. . . . .
"Ne, Misaki, right?" Miyuki asked as she decided to make small talk between her and her newly-found friend. Although she could not really tell if they had met before due to her Amnesia she has this feeling that this girl is something. It's like something keeps telling her at the back of her mind that this Misaki could be her key, the key to her past. Talk about being cheesy but there's this small part of her that believes it might just be it. So she's not risking this chance she got. She'd do everything to know her past. She just has to.
"Hmm?" Misaki answered in a tired tone as she sat there leaning on a tree trunk with eyes still closed.
"Have you ever wondered how people meet?"
Misaki opened her eyes and turned to look at Miyuki with confusion written on her face. The girl smiled urging her to answer. So she cleared her throat and replied, "I believe people meet for a very good reason."
Like how she and Takumi met, she believes it happened not just because life seemed like making them meet but because life has a meaning to it. Whether it be lasting or not, they are bound to meet.
"So do you think that this meeting of ours hides a deeper meaning?"
Misaki froze. What was she implying? Did she regain her memories back? She remembered her?
"Uhhh…I guess so…if…if you put it that way," Misaki stumbled with her words as she tried desperately to cover her inner nervousness with a fake smile. Hopefully Miyuki would not be able to catch on. She knows it isn't right to tell Miyuki about what she knows. She knows she's being selfish. She knows she's wrong about her decision but what could she do? Her mind was acting on her own.
"That made me think that maybe you could be the key to unveiling my past. Don't you think so too?" Miyuki made a smile that could melt any viewer's heart as she tried to lighten up the mood for Misaki seemed to have reached a state of nervousness for some reasons unknown to her.
"The key?"
Miyuki nodded all too cheerfully before she shifted a little for a more comfortable position. "I just had this feeling that you could help me right from the moment I saw you. It's weird but it wouldn't harm to try. I'm confident you won't disappoint me. You seem like a great person."
Misaki's mind turned a hundred and eighty degrees upside down as she frowned a little. Help her? Won't disappoint her? She already did. Her? A great person? She doubts that after she made the decision of not telling this Miyuki the truth. Misaki already knows she's Chiyo yet she just could bear the fact of telling her. For what reason? She doesn't know exactly but she's guessing it's because of Takumi. She came here to this place to get her mind off things and here comes Chiyo making her remember everything all over again. Now she could relate to Takumi's statement on how life is so cruel at times.
Wait, Takumi again. She has got to stop thinking about him. It's for the better.
"We just met, Ch-Miyuki. You don't know me that well than what you're trying to imply," Misaki explained with a pained expression as she averted her gaze from Chiyo's grey eyes. It was just too hard thinking that this girl she's lying to was that only girl who reached out to her back when she was on the verge of losing her sanity after her parents' death. It pains her to the brink that she wished the ground would just swallow her away from all this drama.
"I know that. I just told you what I think and how I feel. Besides, I know I could trust you. So…will you help me?"
That was it. Why is everyone entrusting their problems to her? It wasn't like she's a genie or a magic fairy that could help them in a snap of a finger. First Takumi asked for help in finding Chiyo and now Chiyo's asking for help in finding her past which clearly involves Takumi. Well if you look at it, it wouldn't be such a hard thing to do if not for this damned feelings of her. She just wished she never met all of these people in the first place. She was happy and contented before. Why now that she's happy have some troubles arrive to ruin everything for her? She should just run away and leave all these problems behind. If she could that is. She already got herself stuck between Takumi and Chiyo's story and she feels like an antagonist obstructing them from their happy ending. And she does not like it one bit.
"I don't know. I…"
"Miyuki! Miyuki! Come out now! This is not funny!" a loud shouting from somewhere near echoed along the thick layer of trees interrupting Misaki from her sentence.
"Uh-oh. He's near," Miyuki gasped in horror as if she was some helpless deer hunted during hunting season.
"Who's near?" Misaki asked in confusion following Miyuki who's now walking fast ahead towards the waterfall.
"My so-called savior. We were out taking a walk by the woods when I decided to play hide-and-seek with him to kill boredom because honestly, the guy is a bore." Miyuki jumped up to a boulder that could hide her from view in which Misaki also followed.
"He may be worried sick by now! Are you out of your mind?"
Miyuki just gave Misaki a huge grin and hid all the more. "He won't be. He's Tora anyway."
"Tora?"
The grey-eyed girl nodded. "Uh-huh. Igarashi Tora."
Oh God. Help me now was all Misaki could think. She's in for one hell of a ride.
It took me such a long to update because of school activities. It's kind of short but oh well. It's still an update. I hope you guys have not given up on me now. I'll try and update earlier. I'll just try.
And also thanks to those who supported me even when I was out busying myself with school works and completely forgetting about this story. You guys are the best.
