Chapter 278
On Thursday morning Febuary 14th Kate Lockley went to ee Rupert Giles. Buffy told her who he was, a watcher and highschool librarian. Kate wanted to talk with him before he left for work. Giles was awake, with his girlfriend Jenny Calendar. After all she'd seen, Kate wasn't particularly suprised to see the little demon Gachnar in a bird cage.
Kate: I take it Buffy told you, waht I did.
Giles: Yes. We need you to tell us everything you did. We need to keep this mgick out of the wrong hands.
Kate: Ofcourse. I'll also be resigning from the police department. I won't tell them the whole truth. But my conduct was inexcusable, unbecoming for a police officer.
Giles: It's your decision, but resigning might be a little extreme.
Kate: Three kids are dead because of me. And I can't undo that.
Giles: No, you can't, but you can do better. And to be honest we could use you as an ally on the police force.
Kate: Is it true about the president? Is he really an evil demon-worshipping sorcerer?
Giles: Yes. And far more evil than you or I ever will be.
Kate: The idol of Granath is destroyed so he can't use that to raise his minions.
Giles: Good. Although I fear he'll look for other ways.
Kate: Probably. For now, I'll stay on the force, help you when I can.
Giles: Thank you. Now if you'd like to help I have a favor. Take Gachnar, just for a few days. Jenny and I have an important date today and I'd prefer us to be alone afterwords.
