Chapter 284
Shortly after his meeting with the Circle of the Black Thorn Dracula met with other members of the Concillium Mortuum. As he only member of both groups Dracula had somewhat divided loyalties. This wasn't the first time he played both sides, always trying to increase his own power. During this meeting Dracula tried to persuade other council members not to slaughter people in Sunnyale. Kakistos was his main opponent in this debate.
Dracula: The Master was the strongest of us. We cannot defeat him if we have a second front against the slayer.
Kakistos: We are demons. We should not cower before the human.
Dracula: We need to adapt to survive.
Kakistos: Adapt? You mean live in this castle? This mockery of amusement for children? Buying animal blood in bags?
Dracula: When that is what it takes. I have survived five centuries by adapting. And accepting my limitations. While you slept there was a tyrant named Adolf Hitler. He tried to conquer the earth and exterminate inferior races. Hitler overestimated his power, died, and brought destruction upon his homeland.
Kakistos: And what of you? You betrayed your ally Hyundai in life. For all your talk of uniting christianity you betrayed them to the sultan. Did you betray us to the Master
Dracula: No. I abandoned you when defeat was inevitable. Since then I worked to free you. I've made other alliances, gained more power. Saving our own lives is my priority, and we must keep a low profile. I hate the idea of working with a slayer, but that is neccessary. If we kill humans, we will al die.
