Jessie saw the Master teaching Colin. He was talking about conquering fear. As a child Colin had been afraid of monsters, now he was one ironically. The Master was afraid of the cross, two pieces of wood. The Master was older than the crucifixtion, yet frightened of the cross. He touched the cross for ten seconds, to prove that his fear couldn't conquer him. Jessie wanted to protect Colin, this annointed one. Doing this would mean risking both of their lives. The Master remained trapped, Absolom had taken others with him on some mission. Jessie knew that if he was going to take Colin away from all of this, he would need to move quickly.
