There was obviously planning to do, not to mention Tony had completely tossed my tower upside down. Not only had he taken five floors from me in order to house the Avengers should they come to town since SHIELD's demise but he actually started walking through the science side of things. He'd spend a day with the environmental nerds or the biochemists. And then he'd go back to his garage and labs.
But those few days mattered!
Clint and Natasha would visit, and of course they were both elated by the news…
"Thank, fucking, god." Natasha said searching their refrigerator, "I was afraid I'd have to accept on your behalf and that would make for an extremely awkward wedding night."
I laughed and winked at her, "Sounds like every guy's dream actually." Steve chose the perfect time to walk in with Clint then.
"What's every guy's dream?" Clint asked sitting perched on the back of the couch that sat apart from the kitchen area of the Avengers main floor. Steve actually sat into the couch like a normal human being. Which is ironic.
Natasha dramatically leaned against the counter towards them with perfect cleavage showing, "Just having both me and Jenny on a wedding night?"
Clint leaned back as though contemplating while Steve's eyes widened only a fraction. "But paying for the king bed?"
I laughed and slid a food menu from a local thai restaurant to Natasha looking over at the boys, "I'm Stark, money is no object, even a California King!"
"And who says we'd need a bed?" Natasha added as Clint laughed and reluctantly I took pity on the amused but out of place blushing Captain.
Taking a beer out of the fridge, I walked it to him, "Mouth is looking a little dry there capsicle."
He even laughed then but took the drink, "Thanks Jen, although I think at this point I'm used to you guys."
Natasha and I met eyes and nodded, "We'll surprise you one day." We spoke in unison and I promptly decided that did it for the day. Natasha kept talking, "But there is actually good news to be had."
Steve leaned back with a knowing smile, "You said yes?"
It was a real smile as I sat across from them and lifted to display an elegant diamond set simply but safely in a white gold ring, "I did." My words lifted at the end of the phrase displaying happiness, "The wedding should be in a year or maybe over… maybe two-"
"Or three if you back out." Natasha commented before adding, "I want pad thai."
"Or if he does," A thought that had been going through my mind more and more oddly, "Have them put it on our tab, I'll take one too."
"I'll take dumplings, and I doubt Banner the type."
Bruce was the running type. Was he as bad or worse than her? He did like to leave… But he hadn't left her since dating. Not once. He has not let her down in ages. It is only fair to give him the new chance. And I want this chance for both of us.
Well, now I just want a hug. Getting up I retook a seat next to Steve and wrapped my arms around him sideways which he moved to accept gracefully, not unusual to him. Tasha came back and took the seat that I vacated and spoke directly now, "Jenny, it'll be here in an hour."
Head still of Cap's shoulder, I nodded, "Sounds good, they know us well enough, I'll text Kevin that it's floor seven today." Yep, the thai place knew us THAT well. Strangely enough I had always been an anchor when Steve was assimilating, and him for me when she felt out of control. They understood each other.
Natasha got it too and didn't comment instead moved to other conversation which all participated. By the time food arrived they were happy they ordered extra because Tony and Bruce came up to join them and found respective spots that made all happy.
Things were going remarkably right.

August 25th, was the date chosen, one year. Save the dates were picked and scheduled for six months before, invitations for three months before. And boy, did time go fast. Which all the researching being done on HYDRA's secret hideaways, it was as if time was ticking but no one in Stark tower heard it.
"Do you think I should go on one of those diets before the wedding? I'm getting old." Jenny asked one night lying on Bruce's bed, legs cross in a t shirt and underwear with her nose in a magazine of Bridal News. Her t shirt read, "Feyonce". She was enjoying this. Normalcy. Dreaming of growing up used to be a luxury not afforded to her.
Bruce's laugh answered her question as she turned the page, "You? Diet? I'm not sure your metabolism would know what to do." Scientifically, he was correct and Jenny shrugged.
She continued her reading, "Are we sure we like the venue?"
Again his laugh made her feel silly for asking, "We went to twenty of them! Seven of them we returned for a second look!" Bruce was on his computer, writing to some colleague or whatever. Reentering the scholar field almost. Bordering on.
Jenny tapped her foot up and down, "I know, I know." They had chosen a venue on Broadway called Gotham Hall. Bruce Wayne would not be invited although it was debated, "And I know we have a food tasting scheduled for a month but-"
"Jen-" Bruce looked over from his computer, glasses low on his nose but eyes soft, "Don't worry. We have plenty of time. Everything will be how you would like it. If it isn't we will make it so." He went back to his screen while Jenny flipped back in her magazine, concerned again.
"But-" She found the page and pointed, "It's our wedding. Do you like the venue? Do you want me to go on a diet? Do you-"
She was cut off just by Bruce looking over again, "I want to see you, wearing a white dress. I want to slip a ring on your finger, and I want to dance with you while everyone watches, envious of the girl I have. All of those things will happen without you doing a thing."
Jenny grinned, although Bruce did not see as he was back to his task on his computer, "You know dear, you can be quite romantic." When he did not respond Jenny impatiently stood and crossed the room quietly, "What email are you writing?" She asked just as her hands rested on his shoulders.
Sparing her a glance he explained, "A contact at Columbia was looking for some research help. I'm more than qualified." She was slowly working her hands at his shoulders and back, rubbing her thumbs in small circles and pinpointing his tight spots.
She leaned down to look over his shoulder, stopping to plant a kiss behind his ear, followed by slowing sucking on his earlobe, "Jeeennnnyy." His voice sounded like a half ass warning as one of her hands drifted to his chest and lower.
"Bruce," She whispered back in his ear, "Now, I know Spring is coming but I still appreciate having your warmth inside me-" She stopped dramatically, "Did I say inside? I meant beside." With a sigh Bruce closed the laptop and turned in his chair letting her take his lips with no complaint. After moving around his chair he was able to back her up to the bed easily while she wrestled with his shirt.
But there were still moments it seemed so far.
Then her eyes would roll back in her eyes and he'd feel her caving and he was shocked by how close it all was. For now at least.

It was the week before invites were to be sent. Three months before the wedding. Dress shopping was in progress and Jenny had chosen her braidsmaids to help. Maid of Honor was Pepper, master planner, while Natasha and Kate served as bridesmaids.
The shopping wasn't terrible at all, and Jenny actually found herself enjoying every ridiculous and beautiful gown she tried on. She would stand by her rule that she had to be able to move so it had to be close to her body. No ball gowns or hoopla of a skirt.
This led to trying on a lot of mermaid style dresses. A lot of them.
After ten stores and fifteen appointments, a dress was chosen.
Pepper found it classy, Natasha was positive she could kill a man in it, Kate thought the lace was a sexy touch, while Jon (Who of course was critical to Jenny's wedding project) even had to say he'd go for her. Which was probably a joke, but it did the trick. The dress was perfect.
In fact they returned that day, happy to be done and Pepper exited quickly for a conference call while Natasha got the call before Jenny.
'Be dressed on the top of the roof in ten. Get Jay.'
"Tony texted me. They must have the last HYDRA location." Jenny beamed at the news.
She parted with Natasha at her floor and continued the ride up, this could be perfect. Hydra's mess cleaned up before even invites went out. Brilliance. It would be so much easier to think about a safe future without Hydra breathing down their necks.
Once suited in her black and green customized outfit Jenny stocked up on weapons and met on the roof. Luckily all were on time, "Ready crew?" Steve asked before they all boarded the air craft, "Stark, take us out of the air."
Jenny sat down next to Bruce who was shaking with nerves. Covering his hand with hers she tried to exude calmness the way Kate does. It seemed to work as his hand stopped shaking and he struggled a smile for her. Soon, this could be over, for a time anyways.
If only soon was a little sooner.

"Shit!"
"Language!" Steve reprimanded Tony from his motorbike through the battle that ensued, "Jarvis what's the view from upstairs?"
I, who sat directly behind the Captain on his bike, aimed with deadly precision, managing to attack mass numbers, "The central building is protected by some kind of energy shield. Strucker's technology is well beyond any other hydra base we've taken." Jarvis's voice was always comforting, a constant on the battlefield. I just hoped he was that much of a comfort to them all now.
Thor crackled through the com next, in all his regality, "Loki's scepter must be here. Strucker couldn't mount his defense without it." Pausing for dramatic effect he added, "At long last-"
"At long last is lasting a little too long," Natasha cut him off and this is where I scoffed, still shooting and chose to pipe up.
Seeing how I had a wedding to plan, I was already impatient to have this over with, "Weren't we supposed to have the element of surprise?"
Clint laughed in my ear, "That went out the window thirty minutes ago." Oh god.
Then came Tony's indignant voice, and I could hear his smirk through the words, "Wait a second. No one else is going to question that fact that Cap just said 'language'?"
It was a careless laugh before Steve tapped my leg with his hand and I nodded to take the signal, "I know," We moved effortlessly. It was smooth, flipping through the air -off the bike and him throwing our bike at a group of soldiers just coming up to us, "It just slipped out."
The fighting continued, with gradual progression until Natasha's shout for Clint came through the com and in the pause that I looked back to respond I was flat on my back, all the air knocked out of me and a stomach that heaved. What the frig was that? Who was that?
"Enhanced!" I called into the comm, grudgingly getting myself up and proudly brushing myself off, sort of embarrassed not to have seen him.
Steve confirmed and nodded to me, eyes scanned, "He's fast."
"Clint's hit, somebody want to take care of that bunker?" By the shouting and grunts following that it would be a fair assumption that the Hulk got it.
With a trying voice and attention strictly on Steve, "Tone." My voice said all the warning she didn't have the time to emphasize. That shield needed to come down.
Instead of being helpful he just replied sweetly, "Yes darling sister?" I wanted to punch him.
Steve threw the shield at the exact moment I would have been tackled and added, "Stark, we really need to get inside."
"I'm closing in." Somehow, that was not reassuring. But Thor's sudden appearance sort of was.
"The enhanced?" He questioned.
"A blur," I said annoyed. It had been a while since I was knocked down.
Steve smiled at his distaste and added, "I've never seen anything like him. In fact, I still haven't."
Natasha's worried voice came in, adding to my impatience, "Clint's hit pretty bad. We're going to need evac." Yeah, Clint is gravely injured and I'm impatient. Dear god, have I not grown at all.
Thor looked at their own two enhanced and nodded, "I can get Barton to the jet. The sooner we are gone the better. You and Stark secure the scepter. Both Starks."
"Copy that." We said in unison.
Just as they decided, a group of Hydra soldiers began to line up and I smirked, "Boys, we've got happy company."
Steve looked around then met Thor's eye, "They are excited after all." They all knew their position as I got low and crouched, ready to pounce when they were made vulnerable while Thor hammered on Steve's shield sending a force through the forest. All were knocked down.
"Find the scepter."
"And for gosh sake's watch your language!" I laughed at Tony even against Steve's glare.
I pointed to Steve "He used to actually reprimand me for that! I get to laugh at others." Steve forgot that sometimes, Tony had to have acted like a father occasionally. He sighed.
"I think we are locked down here." Natasha commented and Steve nodded to Jenny.
"Copy that, Jenny is going after Banner." At that I took off toward the last great crash I heard.
My breathing steady, loving every ability. What used to curse was finally a blessing. Finally I spotted Bruce, it wasn't hard. He saw me too and growled a warning, but the Hulk knew of me, even if only vaguely, "Hey sweetheart," Small things like that didn't make him angry surprisingly, only calling him Bruce, "It's getting late you know," I reached out a hand to him, which he took suspiciously, it's the eyes, I knew that the Hulk likes, "I think it's about time we slept." My words were melodic and the hulk swayed for a moment before calming and morphing back. He shrunk right back into the Bruce I know and love. He collapsed against me for a moment.
We all met up on the plane, where Bruce sat with headphones, thinking way too hard about the Hulk transformation and I leaned on his side, silently supporting as Natasha tried to help. He still took every transformation really hard.
"Hey, you didn't try to kill your fiancé this time, not even a little bit." I snorted but Bruce looked at her gravely before smiling.
He let me lean back into him and said to Natasha, "I just was not expecting a code green."
It was with a shrug that I elbowed him, "But you helped enormously."
Natasha nodded encouragingly, "If you hadn't been there, causalities would have been double and my best friend would be a treasured memory." That all sounded nice and helpful to me-but Bruce had different standards for himself.
No, to Bruce he failed. He stiffened, "Sometimes exactly what I want to hear, isn't exactly what I want to hear."
"How long before you trust me?" Tasha asked plainly and I started at the question because it was common for Bruce to not trust.
Bruce shrugged it off, and my sudden movement up, "It's not you I don't trust." He slid his headphones on again and I tried to meet his eye. He needed to relax, but I knew that didn't always include me, so I kissed his cheek an stood to pace.
"Thor," She called out and at her speaking while still being near him, Bruce lowered the headphones a fraction, "Report on the Hulk."
Thor jovially smiled, "the gates of Hell are filled with the screams of his victims!" Bruce's groan made him pause and backtrack, "Uh- but-uh- not the screams of the dead, of course not. No, no, wounded screams, mainly whimpering, a great deal of complaining and tales about sprained deltoids and… uh, gout." I sighed but smiled.
"Not what you wanted to hear?" I smirked at Bruce who just looked at me, tired.
Tony shouted back to them, "Hey Banner! Dr. Cho's on her way in from Seoul, is it cool if she uses your lab?"
Bruce shook himself out of looking at me and I rubbed his shoulder slowly, "Uh, yeah, she knows her way around." I liked Dr. Cho. She'd visited for research purposes before and she was always very nice.
Tony let Jarvis take the wheel of the airjet to get them home and stood with Thor and Steve. When I caught his eye I moved to joined them, leaving Bruce's side, "I'm sure Jay and Banner would love to give it a once over before you wisk it away with you."
True, anything that glows is fun to have a once over so I was happy to have the opportunity even if it put me a bit on edge just being close to it, "Just a few days?"
"We'll have revels," Tony added rashly and I stalled. I knew that tone- he was up to something.
Thor smiled, "Of'course! A victory should have revels!"
Softly I glared at Tony, as if trying to understand him but he just smiled at me and then Steve, "Who doesn't love revels, right Captain?"
After all the work they have done to bring down the Chitauri and Hydra, Steve could only nod with a smile, "Hopefully this brings an end to it all. So yeah, revels."
Jarvis landed them all safely. I kissed Bruce's cheek and followed my brother and Steve as Maria Hill greeted them at the entrance. Cho had arrived, Clint would be taken care of, and the two enhanced are fast and weird. All good information. I had to resist joking about sending them an invitation letter to us.
As Clint was rushed out of the plane and Maria Hill approached us, I kissed Bruce's head and overhead the operatic music he was listening to in order to calm down still. We all have our ways, "Labs all set up Boss." She looked between Tony and I.
Tony spun in the pilot chair, "No, actually he's the boss, I just pay for everything."
"And I just design everything." I commented sticking my tongue out at Capt. As he smiled at us then Agent Hill.
Steve was standing to get out, "What's the word on Strucker?"
"NATO has him." She replied and handed me an extra pad of info as she started explaining to Steve as they walked, "The two enhanced are Wanda and Pietro Maximov, twins orphaned at ten when their apartment building collapsed." I whistled low as they left and I eyed Tony.
They voices got softer as they walked and I raised an eyebrow at my brother, "So, tell me exactly what you are planning?"
Tony threw his hand in the air, "What makes you think I'm planning anything?" He stood and gave his best 'huh?' look while I rolled my eyes.
"Revels?" Bruce took off his headset to us talking.
Tony's eyes widened, "Really, Jay, you should know by now. I'll do anything for revels." He walked past me out of the plane and I sighed.
Bruce stood and took my hand, "You okay?"
I nodded and leaned on him, "Yeah, just…" I took a deep breath, "I have a bad feeling Tony is either going to do something very stupid or very smart."
As we followed Bruce laughed a tight sound, "Those are the only two options Tony has Jen, we can't blame him too much for that." I laughed too and let myself try to relax. I had a wedding soon. Revels are good.

I sat cross legged on the floor of one of the larger labs, with a screen set up around me and the glass floor to the iron man drones beneath me.
"How are you Clint?" I shouted from my spot, not looking away from the screens.
"Would be better with food!" His shout came through and I rolled my eyes.
I scrolled through the experimental capabilities of the two enhanced, "You know I suck ass at cooking."
Tony and Bruce walked in then from different doorways, "Ah, Clint, still Barton I see."
"That's a shame," Bruce added and walked into side lab with Clint
"Tone, we need to talk about the drones," I began looking down where they were being polished and reviewed, "It's a little too… Attack of the clones for me."
Tony stopped to look down at me and raised an eyebrow, "You carry lightsabers in your boots."
"Jenny!" Bruce shouted and I startled, jumping to me feet and looking toward the side lab with orange glass with Clint and Dr. Cho, "You've got to see this, it's so cool!" I ran a hand down my face and smiled.
With my best slow voice, "Honey, I may not have made it clear how boring and overrated I find biology." Bruce's head popped out of the door and he lowered his glasses at me and I nodded in confirmation, "If I had found any interest in it, I would've been able to solve my own problems." She was sure that her disease would've been cured faster and without issue if either of the Stark siblings entered the biological field. But they did not.
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I took a quick shower and had just finished putting on a comfortable lab outfit and combed through my dark hair when I heard the knock on the door.
"Jarv-"
"It's Mr. Stark, Miss Stark." He said it just as Tony said, "Just me Jay."
"Come in!" I smiled and grabbed a stylus pen from my desk, "You going to tell me your plan yet Tone?" I spun just as the door closed behind Tony and he was nervously clapping his hands together and avoiding eye contact. That action alone made me nervous, "Tone?"
He met my eye and attempted to smile, "Jay, you know how much I love Jarvis. I think you did an awesome job on him. He is the best in the business." My worry increased.
"What did you do?" I asked on the offensive.
"Nothing!" Tony was quick to say, "Nothing yet. But I want to discuss an idea with you."
I narrowed my eyes at him, "We have meeting rooms for this."
Tony gave me a look and I rolled my eyes, "Imagine, a world of peace."
"I can't." I cut him off and walked past him into my floor's sitting area and gestured to a seat as I took one next to it.
Tony nodded and sat down crossing his leg, "But Jarvis can. Imagine an IA capable of creating a better world. I know you can." He was right, of 'course, I could, "Anytime a threat came to Earth an impartial force stopped it. The strongest force." His fingers tapped against the end table and I leaned back in my seat considering.
Privatized world peace.
"If we can harness the energy of whatever this is, embed Jarvis with it, and unleash it… imagine the possibilities." He was excited, that much was clear.
I smiled at him, "But Jarvis would be lost."
"For something better."
"For something with more variables."
"Would I suggest this to you if I thought harm might come to Jarvis?"
I had to think. Tony was enterprising. But not mean. He knew what Jarvis meant to me and I knew his interests were in the right place at the foundation of it.
"Okay." Tony jumped up in a victory leap and I laughed standing to hug him, "But don't screw it up."
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Tony screwed up.
I worked with Tony and Bruce for three days. We used the scepter as bets we could to upload and configure "Ultron" as Tony took to calling him. The only name I thought of was Mega-bot which was hilariously shot down by both parties.
But on the day of revels… no true progress had been made. Except the knowledge that Bruce definitely looked cute in a lab coat.
No, revels were to be had, and the project would be abandoned.
I left the lab first. I asked Tony to shut everything off when he left. Bruce left shortly after me because we met on our floor and I held up various dresses for his opinion. The awful part about dating a great guy… he really does think you look awesome in everything.
Well I chose a black tight dress and strappy red heels. I painted my lips red and eyelids a smokey color. I threw my hair around but ended up leaving it down. I walked through our bedroom to the main area where Bruce was looking over some notes on a data pad.
He was in a grey shirt and black tie and I noted the sport coat tossed on the counter. Just to ensure I actually ate something tonight I walked to the refrigerator and grabbed a container of cookie dough. When I turned back to get a spoon Bruce still hadn't looked at me and I rolled my eyes. I had to pick the one guy who wouldn't be stunned when I walked in the room.
"Bruce, do I have to make my entrance again or can you throw out an arbitrary comment or expression of wow?"
He looked up almost startled from his notes and smiled shyly when he saw me, "Sorry I was lost in thought." Taking off his glass he nodded, "You do look excellent." I smiled back at him, "Do you make sexy your default?"
I winked, "Is the effort evident?"
"Only when you're eating cookie dough." I laughed and then he laughed. I slid it along the counter towards him, spoon still in the frozen dough. Bruce was happy to oblige and I moved closer to hop up on the counter and look at the holopad upside down, "It's notes from a physicist I've been working with."
I nodded reading them over, "Seems like he's read most of your work. Are you really looking into testing into gamma radiation more?"
Bruce shook his head slowly eating a spoonful, "Only at a distance for now."
I smiled but leaned forward to kiss him, "You do whatever you feel best with. I know from your previous research you did enjoy it."
Bruce was about to speak and I was glad to see the crease in his forehead had disappeared after talking with me, when Jarvis spoke up, "Guests are arriving Miss."
"Thank you Jarvis." I responded and hopped off the counter, "Would you like to come down a little later or-"
"No," Bruce stood and fixed his glasses, "I'd rather enter with you." Bruce really didn't like limelight, but with me, it seemed bareble, I knew.
As we walked to the elevator I put on my best reassuring smile, "It is just our friends and a couple people I don't know." Basically any crowd of any size was enough to make Bruce a tad uncomfortable.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
I forget that a "couple people I don't know" means a lot of people in general.
It was my field. I stood on the balcony, grasping the half wall and looking down at the guests settling down, the bar being tended by my brother, surely putting more alcohol in a couple of drinks than necessary. It was nice to see the Avengers all relax slowly, Steve having a drink and sitting down with Clint and Nat. Thor in a ridiculously Asgardian jacket than looked the height of fashion still speaking with some at the bar. Bruce was at my side still and my head rested on his shoulder.
"This is nice."
"It is." Bruce agreed but when I moved to look at him his expression was worry. I didn't have to ask, "We have to give the scepter back without making Ultron."
I nodded and shrugged, "We did what we could. Enjoy the night."
"I know," Bruce forced a smile, "Come on, let's go. You're dying to show off."
I held onto his arm and smiled, "Yes, I am." I saw his slight blush and laughing smile as we descended and I put on my smile for everyone else.
It was a lovely party, very low key considering that Tony and I were hosting.
"Jen!" I spun to see Steve waving from the pool table, "I challenge you." He held up a pool cue and I laughed kissing Bruce's cheek, who nodded, before letting go of his arm and walking towards the pool table. The sound of my heels was to die for and I was used to attention.
As I approached I outstretched a hand to the familiar face at Steve's side, "Sam Wilson, pleasure to see you again." He shook her hand and handed her a pool cue, "Have you already kicked his ass?"
Sam shrugged and smiled coyly, "Well, I figured I'd give him a break."
Steve's laugh cut him off and I chalked the cue, "Whatever helps your ego Sam, you can take winner then."
The other man rolled his eyes, "Do beat him, it'll break the monotony." I chuckled and winked.
"Let's go Capsicle, bring it." I narrowed my eyes, giving my best competition glare and Steve winked.
"I'll go easy on you Stark."
He did not go easy on me. And I definitely kicked his ass.
Sam was cheering as I got the eight ball in left corner, hopping it over one of Steve's striped leftovers.
I spun the cue as I do with my light sabers and blew at the top as I would with pistols at the end of a duel. All of this to Captain America's stunned face.
"Good game Steve," I held out my hand in sportsmanship, and he took it still fairly stumped and I winked at Sam, "Ready to go Wilson?"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
"Can I buy you a drink handsome?" I leaned against the bar and Bruce seemed shaken from thoughts before smiling at me.
"I should be asking you that question." He smiled and waved his hand, "Would you like anything?"
It was open bar and we both knew that but I still bit my nail and looked around, "Wine, I think." Taking a decent red sweet one off the bar I handed it to Bruce with two glasses.
"Do I want wine as well?"
"Do you?" I replied waving my hand mimicking what he just did.
He poured my glass and tasted it before his face scrunched in distaste and I kept myself from laughing. Instead I got poured him what I know Tony usually drinks while he watched, "I think you might prefer this."
After a taste he raised the glass to me as I sipped her wine, "You do have good tastes."
I winked at him, "Funny, I'd say the same to you." He smiled in the bashful way he does and I almost blushed.
"You two are actually sickening." Steve walked up and I laughed, broken from the moment.
"I'm pretty sure being engaged gave me the license to be." I waved my hand at him and he smiled holding up a hand defensively.
Looking between Bruce and I he leaned in, "As the world's greatest authority on waiting too long- Don't let her get away."

"It's a trick!" Clint called out from the floor where he twirled a drum stick and mocked the words of Mjolnir, "Whoever be worthy shal have'th the power! It's a trick man!"
Thor nodded to the hammer seated on table, "Be my guest." Steve sitting next to Thor chuckled looking around and Tony gave a hands up not-me gesture. I sat cross-legged on the couch behind Maria and Clint, next to Bruce but I kicked Clint's shoulder.
Finally he rolled his eyes and stood. Steve laughed, "This is going to be good."
"Clint you've had a tough week, we won't blame you if you can't get it up." Tony commented in his ever annoyingly sarcastic voice.
Clint grabbed the hammer and eyed Thor, "I know you've seen this before right?" Thor smiled in a non-arrogant but somehow still patronizing way. Then he tried as hard as he could, grunting all the while, but could not raise the hammer.
"Smell the silent judgement?" Tony asked from beside Rhodes and I smiled at the laughter that went around.
"Stark, by all means." Clint gestured to the hammer and I laughed.
"Tony, you're the furthest thing from a god!"
"And I'm sure Loki tells Thor that all the time, I'm never one to shrink from an honest challenge." He stood, unbuttoning his coat and walking around to the hammer, "It's physics. So if I lift it, I will rule Asgaurd?"
"Yes." Thor confirmed amusingly and I smiled watching Tony grab the hammer.
"I will be reinstating Prima Nocta."
That is when I did laugh that he couldn't lift it, "What was that again? Prima, what now? Because you can't lift a hammer."
Tony scoffed, "Let's go Flamel." He stood back and I climbed over Maria, my heels abandoned long ago, to the usual cheer and catcall from Natasha.
With a dramatic bow I grabbed the hammer. It was strange, such a simple object, was not so simple. I pulled and I tugged.
I heard it creak, but that may have been the table as I released and shrugged, "It's good to have validation of unworthiness."
And so the night went on.
Us laughing, drinking, joking, laughing – the hammer never to be lifted by anyone but Thor.
"Whoever has Thor's fingerprints is the literal translation?" Tony asked and I nodded before Thor stood.
He picked up the hammer effortlessly, "That's an interesting theory, but there is a simpler one. You're all not worthy." Everyone laughed but I remembered when Thor came to earth for the first time. He couldn't pick up the hammer. He wasn't worthy at one time either.
Then came an awful piercing noise and everyone groaned and I squinted and held my ears. When it subsided, I took my phone from my bra, "Jar?" Putting my drink down I tapped on the unusually frozen screen.
Then I heard it, the clinking sound. It sounded like the approach of the tin man and I stood to stand by my brother, looking in the direction it came. I was uncomfortable with my phone frozen and intruder, even if it was just a drunk who hadn't left yet.
It appeared as a half repaired iron man drone and I looked at Tony. It's voice was deep and threatening, "No, how could you be worthy, you're all killers."
"Override code 091305, shut down."
It appeared to work momentarily and the drone nearly tripped over but caught himself mid stride, using his half arm to pull back up and I mentally prepared myself for this fiasco.
"Sorry, I…" The drone motioned dramatically, like a disoriented sailor, "I was a sleep or… a dream. And there was this terrible noise."
"Jarvis, override code 091305, shut down."
It stumbled again, less so, "And there were some strings. Had to killed the other guy." My breath caught and Steve spoke before I could.
"You killed a someone?"
The Drone staggered, "Wouldn't have been my first call, but down in the real world we are faced with ugly choices."
"Tony," I began and he put down his drink, "Did you shut down the lab?" The looked he turned to me with confirmed my suspicions.
Thor held the hammer tightly, "Who sent you?"
Tony's voice came from the eerie blue light of the drone, "I see a suit of armor around the world."
"Ultron." Bruce and I said at the same time. Meeting his eye I looked to the bar and he nodded. I had a feeling this wouldn't go down peacefully.
The drone moved slowly, "In the flesh, or no, not yet. Not this Christmas." His words were like puzzle pieces from texts he'd read and still had to piece together, "But I'm ready. I'm on a mission."
I smoothly grabbed the two pen-like objects resting on the table, "Which is?"
"Peace in our time."
The wall exploded behind him, more dummy drones flying through. Lightsabers going, I swung the arm off of one before I grabbed Bruce pulling him over the bar and laughing when we fell un gracefully.
"Please don't Hulk out, this room is new." He nodded nervously.
"Stay with us." I nodded back and winked before going back out. I pointed at Natasha then the bar and she nodded. She'd help if he got cornered. Steve had blocked one with the table, and Thor handled another.
Tony and Rhodes were dodging with one on their tail and I shouted, "Tone!" He turned just in turn to see one of my sabers spinning toward him. Luckily he caught it, if nimbly, and turned it on the droid even as Rhodey was blown through a window.
"Flamel!" I turned and Thor knocked a droid in my direction, I smoothly shifted to slice upward at the weakest angle as it fell. Hitting the ground were two pieces and I nodded to Thor before going off again.
Before I could take three steps I felt a hand grabbed my neck and throw me backwards. Flipping through the air, I fell on my feet and saw the droid approaching before running for it, twisting and stabbing for it. I felt a blast hit my shoulder but my stance was too solid as I threw him to the ground with injured wires and bits. Picking him up and threw him, "Thor." The hammer collided with the struggling bot and I went turned.
Tony finished one off by hitting the Vulcan nerve pinch installed in all of them.
Clint had gotten Steve's shield to him, which was now hurtling through the air at the last standing bot. It broke apart into pieces.
I drew my saber back in and walked around to find Natasha with Bruce still which I nodded that it was safe before helping Tony up from the broken glass, "Rhodes report."
"I'm good!" I heard and I smiled before looking to Steve who looked 10 shades of angry.
Ultron's own staggering bot made to walk away was a sassy, "That was dramatic. I'm sorry I know you mean well, you just didn't think it through." I moved closer eyeing the thing, "You want to protect the world but you don't want it to change." I knew the room was eyeing Bruce, Tony and I, "How do you expect peace if you're not allowed to evolve?" He picked up the bot she'd cut in half and squeezed it's head until the face plate fell off, "Look at these puppets. These only one path to peace. The avengers' extinction."
Thor's hammer flew through the air, straight into the drone and into the wall. He crumbled as the hammer returned to Thor and I moved forward quickly watching the light fade from the drone, "I had strings but now I'm free." His final words. Or so I hoped.

I moved around the lab in one of Bruce's lab coats, "Tony what did I ask you to do?" I fumed pacing as Bruce eyed the screens and Tony his bots.
"All our work gone." Bruce spoke as the other Avengers eyed the room with suspicion, "He used the internet as an escape route.
"I asked one thing!" My voice was higher pitched than normal and Tony spun to me with concern, "Just one." I thought back to Ultron's words as I took my still frozen phone out. I tapped uselessly, "Jarvis?" I knew there would be no answer.
Natasha leaned against a wall, "He's been in everything. He probably knows more about us than we know about each other."
The others conversed and I stared at Tony.
"He also said he killed somebody." Clint mentioned, just noticing my catatonic state, "Info to share, Jenny?"
Tony finally looked back at me and I was sure that my eyes were watering.
I crossed my arms as I walked towards Tony who held a small pad used to store information, specifically to that one- Jarvis. Despite being shorter than him, I cut an intimidating figure when I'm about to cry, atleast to my brother I do.
He put the image in the center. Life sized.
The system that I named after a childhood butler. The system that more of Stark Industires runs on that anything else. The system that was my constant success and friend.
J. A. R. V. I. S. in shattered pieces. Sometimes, you just want to cry. That doesn't leave you no matter how old you get.
I walked slowly, "Jarvis would have been the best chance at stopping him. We broke into Shield together more times than I can count. Nuclear codes," I chuckled even as a tear escaped, "I could've got those for Christmas."
Steve stood next to me and nodded, "So Ultron tore him apart, it makes sense." I wish it didn't.
Bruce walked through the orange remains, "No, Ultron could've assimilated Jarvis. This isn't strategy this is rage?" He looked at me and I could see the small reflection of myself in his glasses. The girl in the little black dress and lab coat.
That's when Thor returned.
"The Legionnaire?" Steve asked as Thor barged in.
"Lost him in the North, he has the scepter which means we need to retrieve it-Again." His anger at Tony was palpable.
A lot of anger at Tony was palpable.
Including my own. In fact, I could hear my heart beat in my ears.
"I don't understand, you built this program." Dr. Cho turned and looked between Tony and I. I gave a glare that would make most blood run cold. Tony turned away to the main computer, booting a regular interface for the time being, "Why is it trying to kill us?"
Bruce moved to my side and ran a reassuring hand in circles on my back but it was too late for reassuring. I needed that when I had the idea that this might happen. And who gave me that?
Tony began to laugh and my head whipped towards him.
Bruce spoked softly, "Tony, no," He shook his head, "Not good."
Thor said, "You think this is funny?"
I saw Tony turn, his face a mild confusion, "No? It's probably not? This is very terrible. But is it so terrible? It is. It's so terrible."
Thor talked slowly, "It could've been avoided if you hadn't played with something you don't understand."
Tony met Thor practically in the middle, right in front of me and Bruce and my glare only hardened, "No, it is funny. It's a hoot, you don't understand why we need this." My ears were ringing.
All our work gone. Jarvis gone.
Bruce looked between my face and my brother's, "Tony, maybe this is not quite the time."
Tony turned towards us, "Really you just roll on your back anytime someone snarls. And you-" He was motioning to me but I was quicker.
My hand wrapped around his neck in a second and he was lifted off the floor in the next. His eyes widened and mine narrowed, "Please, explain again why this is so funny?" I knew my voice was more akin to a growl.
"Jenny…" Steve's warning came from behind me and I waved a hand in his direction as Tony spoke in gasps.
"Jay- what- let me-" I threw him across the room then, slamming his back against the wall before he slumped to the floor, catching his breath. I knew how to hold my punches, and I knew nothing would be broken. Except maybe his pride.
"I told you to shut down the lab. I'm sorry, is analytical laboratory one of the classes you slept through?" My voice rose as I walked towards him again. In my periphial I noticed Steve staying behind me but not necessarily stopping me, "I don't give a shit we created a murder bot, we'll handle it. But you just threw one of my best friends and greatest accomplishments through a blender in you arrogance."
I could see the terror in his face as he scrambled to his feet against the wall, "Jay, relax, I didn't mean to- please if you could calm down." I stood less than a foot away from him and somehow was still able to stare him down, "Can one of you?" He gestured to Steve behind me.
"This is not an Avenger thing, this is a Stark thing. You fucked up. And you can't even bother an apology for me."
With that I spun, "Excuse me." I walked smoothly towards the exit before stopping, "Dr. Cho, I may require your assistance." The woman nodded at me before looking to the rest of the Avengers and following me out.
A lab over, where I didn't have to look at the destroyed Jarvis or proud Tony I sat down and explained, "I have a chip, just beneath the skin, monitoring my signals and general life signs, can you get that out?"
She nodded, "Of 'course, I presume you would prefer Ultron not have that?"
I smiled a small thing and reached for the scalpels in one of these drawers, "Exactly."
