Chapter 14: Unappealings and jealousy

Sanji watched as Zoro stomped away and back through the door he had just slammed open moments ago. He blinked as Zoro re-emerged from the room, continuing to stomp away as he muttered something under his breath. Sanji didn't call after him or chase after him in an attempt to stop Zoro and find out what had just happened, no, in the end he had left it like that.

He didn't think he wanted to actually know what was on the swordsman's mind.

Sanji slowly looked around at the rest of the crew, noticing they were all staring at him in confusion, hoping to receive some answers from Sanji but he didn't even know how to explain it to himself let alone them.
"Good morning…" He bid to them, smiling brightly before deciding that whatever had just happened, didn't happen and heading to the kitchen to begin breakfast, cursing that he didn't get to finish watching the sunrise like he had wanted to.

He pulled out a few pans and a few ingredients, pouring them into the pan and stirring as he thought about it.

Whatever had gotten into Zoro must have just been a friendship thing, he had been worried because he was the cook of the ship, part of Luffy's crew, and he probably blamed himself for letting him get hurt, after all, if anyone got hurt on Luffy's crew then Luffy would be mad.

Sanji gripped at the counter of the kitchen, pausing in his stirring of the food.
Why Luffy? Why not him?
Was there something about Sanji that wasn't appealing? Was he too skinny? Was it his height, or the suits he wore? Was it his eyebrows?

It had to be his eyebrows, his curly stupid eyebrows…He reached up to touch the swirl of his eyebrow. Maybe it's the directions they go, not being symmetrical, did that put people off? Unless it wasn't his looks, but his personality?

Sanji sighed, well, he was the opposite of Luffy who was young, caring, energetic and strong. Everything he wasn't.

At that moment, Ussop marched into the kitchen prepared to ask the cook if he could borrow (and never give back) some of his ketchups and spices so he could work on some of his new weapon designs that were improvements of his old ones before breakfast, since he couldn't go back to sleep after the scene this morning, that was until he felt the heavy atmosphere of depression floating in the air.

Ussop wanted to turn and walk right back out of the room and ignore the heavy suffocating energy, but he reminded himself that Sanji had lost his memories and he needed his Nakama.
He also reminded himself that Sanji wouldn't beat him like he usually did.

"Are you okay Sanji?" Ussop, silently prayed Sanji wouldn't go berserk on him now. Sanji slowly turned to look at the long nosed boy who had interrupted his thoughts, a smile creeping up his face. Perfect timing, if he couldn't figure out why he wasn't appealing, then Ussop was bound to help him find the answer and maybe then it would quell the pain in his chest, after all Chopper did say, talking about it would help.

"Would you date me?" Sanji blurted out.

Ussop froze, and Sanji swore he could see Ussop turn to stone and crack slightly.
"…I….I….I" Ussop stuttered to himself, not knowing what to say. Was Sanji asking to date him? Why would the cook want to date him? Was he…was he into guys?
He suddenly wished Sanji would have just kicked him out of the kitchen and yelled at him, this was too creepy.

Sanji asked again, rephrasing his question, noticing that Ussop had taken it the wrong way.
"Would you date me if you could? If not, is there something unappealing about me?" Maybe asking Ussop wasn't the best idea, the man looked ready to keel over and bury himself six feet under.

Ussop regained the colour in his face, the question making a little more sense to him, well it was a lot less weirder than the first one.
"Huh? Well, I guess if I were a woman but I'm a man." Ussop mumbled, "There's nothing wrong with you. I do find your eyebrows a little weird though and well…" Ussop mumbled to himself, his sentence carrying on in his mind as he thought about the way Sanji would dance around anything with a skirt. He always found that weird of the blonde, but Sanji currently wasn't like that.

"So it is the eyebrows…" Sanji sighed, slumping his shoulders in defeat. Why did they have to be so curly?
Ussop frowned, sitting down by the counter. Obviously this was going to be quite a long discussion.
"What exactly is this about?" Ussop asked, watching as Sanji turned back around to allow the breakfast to have his full attention.

"Oh, nothing." He mumbled, stirring the breakfast. Could he tell Ussop? Chopper kept it secret so Ussop might as well, plus he couldn't always run to Chopper who was so young and there was a chance Ussop would understand him a little more.
"I'm a liar," Ussop said proudly, "and I know you're lying."
"I like Zoro."

Sanji had blurted it out so fast, not hesitating in telling the long nosed liar anymore, he had spoken it so clearly yet the man took a while to comprehend the new information he had learnt.
Sanji slowly looked over his shoulder, expecting Ussop to have fallen off his seat or something, after all the long nosed man looked like he had wanted to die earlier, but surprisingly he was fine, he was sitting there nodding, expecting the cook too continue.

Ussop wasn't going to lie, he was gobsmacked.
Sanji likes Zoro? He never actually saw that happening, not even in a million years…but then again, they had been getting along recently. Unless it was because the cook isn't his usual perverted self over the ladies?
He shook the shock off and decided not to ponder on how Sanji came to like Zoro but instead listened intently to him as he began to explain his entire feelings to him.

"So you like Zoro?"
"Yes."
"But he likes Luffy?"
"I think he does…"

Ussop hummed to himself in understanding, so thats why Sanji was trying to figure out what was wrong with him. Sanji shouldn't feel so down about himself.
"Why do you think that?" Ussop asked, wanting to know why he thought the first mate and captain had a thing going on. For the whole time Ussop had been on this crew, he'd never seen anything between them other than nakama-ship.

Sanji didn't say anything he lifted his hand to the window and let the laughter he had heard for a while fill their silence, letting that answer Ussop's question for him. What ever was going on out side, Zoro sounded really happy.
"So you're jealous?"
"I guess…" Sanji sighed, rummaging for another cigarette and lighting it as he finished cooking the breakfast. He should start laying out the table and call everyone in.
"Are you going to tell him?"
"I don't know."
"Who else knows?"
"Only Chopper…"

They both fell into silence. Not knowing that to say to fill the gap, thinking things throughly to themselves.
Ussop was trying to decipher what had happened this morning, maybe Zoro liked Sanji but Sanji had misunderstood Zoro's crush for Luffy at some point…but how? He couldn't think of anytime that Sanji could have misunderstood, he couldn't see it being likely, unless it was the loyalty Zoro had?

"I should tell him shouldn't I?" Sanji suddenly said, his mind thinking about it slowly. "It's not like I have anything to lose…"
Ussop looked at Sanji in puzzlement his own thoughts stopping, what did he mean he had nothing to lose? But before he could ask, Sanji spoke up once more.
"Thank you Ussop…"
Said man smiled, "No problem, what are nakama for?" He paused. "So you're going to tell Zoro?"
"Yeah." Sanji nodded, a sad smile on his face.

He was going to die either way, so why not confess before he died?
He had nothing left to lose.

Ussop stood up from the seat noticing Sanji was taking things out, he decided to help him out to set out the table.
"Well, I'm always here for you Sanji."
"Thank you again Ussop…"
Ussop could still hear the sadness in the cook's voice, was Sanji still pondering what was wrong with him?
"I wouldn't mind dating you." Ussop mumbled slightly, feeling a blush on his face, he wasn't into guys and he had kaya, but he hoped this cheered up the cook.
"Really?" Sanji looked up a huge smile on his face, "My eyebrows don't put you off?"
"Of course not!" Ussop laughed as well, feeling the air lift around Sanji who was feeling a lot more better after talking to Ussop. Chopper was right, talking about it helped take a weight off of his chest.

Zoro walked away from Luffy grinning to himself as he looked down at his scruffy drawing. He had drawn a picture of Sanji and he was going to show it to the cook and apologise about what had happened earlier, and possibly explain his little misunderstanding because of Robin.

If he blamed it on Robin least Sanji wouldn't shout at him for it but be understanding. He stood by the entrance of the kitchen, ready to open the door until he heard the voices of two people talking, it was quiet and slightly inaudible, but he caught some words.

"I wouldn't mind dating you." Zoro froze, wait wait, was that Ussop? Was he in there with the cook, asking him out? When did Ussop swing that way? When did he like Sanji? Didn't Ussop have that woman from his home town?
"Really?" Wait wait, hold up, did Sanji sound happy? He didn't hear the rest of it, but he was most certain he didn't need to. He was sure Sanji was confirming that Ussop really wanted to date him.
"Of course-!" Ussop you little shit! Did that mean the cook and the liar were hitting it off? Did Ussop develop some feelings for the cook because of last night? The hell is with that reason?!

Zoro felt like the world was shattering around him. Why was the cook dating Ussop of all people?
"Swordsman-san, trying to steal sake again?" Zoro turned around to see Robin standing behind him once more, her smile still gracing her lips.
"I was, but he seems busy…" He grumbled to himself, "Forget it, I'm taking a nap." He crunched the papers in his hand, not wanting Robin to see them as he walked away from her.

Robin laughed to herself, Zoro seems to misunderstand things too easily. She hummed lightly to herself. Poor Ussop, he doesn't know what he's gotten himself into.

"Breakfast's ready!" Sanji called from the kitchen, watching as everyone piled into the kitchen. They all sat happily, eating their breakfast.
"Yo ho ho, it was a nice wake up call." Brook laughed, starting the conversation, hoping Sanji would talk about it.
"Oh was it? What wake up call?" Sanji asked with ignorance, pouring some drinks out for them.
"What was this morning about Sanji-bro?" Franky asked as well, "Was it to do with last night? It sounded like Zoro-bro thought the worst possible outcome…"
"I don't know." Sanji sighed, throwing away his cigarette and getting a new one.

"Well, I'm not surprised he thought that," Nami spoke, "after all, you did hide in the bathroom like something bad happened…"
"I wanted to clean up." Sanji answered, walking away and out of the kitchen with a plate of food, leaving immediately before they all saw through his lies.

Sanji walked along the deck and found Zoro lying down, sleeping. Sanji sighed, gently placing the plate down beside the sleeping swordsman as to not wake him up.
"I don't know what's wrong," Sanji mumbled, "But you should still eat." He sighed once more before leaving to go back to the kitchen.

Zoro opened up his eye, watching the blonde walk away. He sighed.
What did the shitty Cook see in a scaredy lying, long nosed idiot?
It's not liked Ussop was ever there for Sanji.
Zoro had been the one to search for him in the ocean, he had been apart of the bring Sanji back team. Ussop didn't wake up in the night and see the cook was missing, no it had been Zoro, it had been him to be the one to comfort him all those times, the one who had let him sleep on him after a nightmare.
Ussop hadn't been the one to cover him up in his blanket and he didn't follow Sanji to the village and save him as he fell from the sky.

Zoro grabbed the plate of food, eating it, glaring at it as well. Was this food mainly made for Ussop? After all the long nosed idiot confessed to Sanji as he was making breakfast.

Zoro finished the food, and laid back down. He didn't want to sleep but he didn't want to be awake either, but in the end he closed his eyes and slept, forgetting for a moment that Sanji was with Ussop.

When Zoro woke from his nap, the empty plate was gone, and everyone was running around on the deck, he sighed, he could just continue to nap then.
That was until he heard Ussop's laughter.
Ussop, Luffy and Chopper ran past him, playing tag. They laughed wildly as they did so. Zoro twitched. Fucking Ussop. What was that long nosed idiot laughing about? He must be gloating about having the cook…asshole…

Ussop had his own charm sure, but compared to Zoro he paled in comparison, Zoro was sure that he was a lot more attractive and caring for the blonde than Ussop was. Unless, was it his hair? Sanji always picked on him for his hair, with his memories or without his memories…it had to be his hair that the blonde didn't like. Was it really unappealing?

"Wow!" Chopper exclaimed, suddenly stopping from his running "The sea looks so clear today!"
"It's so warm too!" Luffy panted, his eyes squinting from the sun light. "We should have a BBQ!" Luffy lifted his arms to the sky, grinning year to ear. "I want meat! Meat!"
"We could go swimming as well, not too deep obviously." Ussop laughed, patting the little reindeer on his head.

Zoro opened his eye, sitting up, turning his head ever so slowly to Ussop.
"Let me help you with that…" He whispered as he stood up, lifting Ussop and throwing him into the waters. If that sea witch wanted, she could take Ussop for all he cared.

"Zoro!" Everyone gasped at him, surprised by his sudden actions as they watched Ussop go flying and into the waters.
They merely got a shrug from the man and a satisfied grin before he walked off happily, chuckling to himself as he heard Ussop rise to the surface of the water, coughing and spluttering; shouting profanities at him.

Robin chuckled, earning the attention of Nami who whispered to her so the others wouldn't hear what she would say.
"You know exactly what is going on don't you?" Nami asked Robin, who nodded. "It seem's swordsman-san is jealous."
Nami looked in confusion at Robin, she had been discussing with Robin that Sanji and Zoro seemed to have something between them but…"why would Zoro be jealous?" she asked.
"Swordsman-san might be thinking long nose-kun and cook-san are together."

The navigator blinked in surprise, "Ussop and Sanji? Why?"
"He over heard their conversation, and once again Swordsman-san misunderstood."
Nami was feeling quite confused, "Wait, again?"
Robin chuckled remembering what had happened this morning, "Swordsman-san misunderstood my words last night and thought Sanji was touched last night."
"Oh!" Nami now understood exactly what was going on, she was on the same page as Robin now.

"Snacks!" Sanji called happily as he left the kitchen carrying two trays, one with piles of mochi on top and the other with drinks. He walked around to each member of the crew, giving them happily to them.

Ussop had been moments away from eating his own snack, but the moment he came close to eating it, it was snatched away from him. Obviously, he thought it was Luffy since he had a reputation for stealing others foods; he turned to shout at the younger boy but was surprised to see someone else stuffing his mochi into their face.

"Zoro!" Ussop yelled in surprise, watching as Zoro stuffed his mochi into his already full mouth, chewing on it slowly.
"That was my mochi!"
Sanji looked up from the two ladies, politely bowing before walking back over to them, watching in surprise. He leaned down to the younger male and held out another mochi.
"You can have mine." Sanji smiled politely to Ussop.
"Ah! Thank you Sanji." He reached up for it to find that the swordsman had once again snatched it, throwing it in the air.
"UFFY!" Zoro shouted with his stuffed mouth. Luffy of course reached up and grabbed it, stuffing it into his mouth and smiling widely.

Sanji looked at the dejected Ussop, feeling angry for the man and for himself, he could feel the jealousy boiling in the pit of his stomach; rising rapidly.
"You shitty Marimo!" Sanji shouted pointing a finger at him.
"That snack was for Ussop not your shitting gift for Luffy! He's already had a dozen yet Ussop has had none!"
"yhoo tink I air oout ruffop!?" Zoro yelled angrily, trying to speak and chew the gummy sweet substance in his mouth. Why did he stuff two large sweets in his mouth again? Oh yeah, because he didn't want Ussop having them.
"You selfish Marimo!" Sanji yelled angrily.
"Selfish?!" Zoro yelled, finally swallowing the sweets. How dare the cook call him selfish, was he selfish these past few days being with him?

"Yeah, Selfish! You idiotic blind marimo!"
How could Zoro do that, taking his treat that he had offered to Ussop to Luffy. Did Zoro like Luffy so much he was willing to steal everyone else's food just to give it to him, especially when it was originally his!
"Quit calling me Marimo!"
"Marimo! Marimo! Marimo!" Sanji shouted, each repeated word getting louder.

"The hell is wrong with my hair asshole!" Zoro yelled, remembering how he thought about his hair being the reason Sanji wouldn't look towards him.
"It's green and stupid! Like you!"
Zoro could feel the vein on his forehead pop.
"It's better than your curly eyebrows! They're too fucking weird!"

Sanji growled, sticking his hands into his trousers. "You asshole…"
How dare the Marimo bring up his eyebrows, he already knew that was why he was unappealing! He didn't need to hear it!
He swung his leg, aiming for Zoro who quickly stopped them with his swords.

"Gu-guys…" Ussop chuckled nervously, "I didn't really want it…" Ussop lied, not wanting this to get any worse. He knew full well how Sanji was feeling and after talking to Sanji this morning, talking about his eyebrows was a little too sensitive for the blonde.

Just as Zoro swung at Sanji, Ussop pulled the blonde away and dragged him away and into the kitchen as fast as he could, leaving Zoro to watch in anger and jealousy.

"Childish."
Zoro snapped his head at Nami, his eyes narrowing as Robin chuckled.
"Very childish, yo ho ho." Brook interjected, standing right behind the girls.
"Zoro's childish." Luffy parroted.

"Shut it!" Zoro snapped, even more angry now that Ussop had dared to interrupt their fight and take Sanji away, just when he had Sanji's attention on him.

That shitty little liar of a long nose!

I actually love Zoro's green hair, and Sanji's curly eyebrows, so I mean no harm.
