He stood at a spot that afforded him a full view; silently admiring how the afternoon sun made her skin glow as she ran her hands on the now clearly visible bump of her stomach. He wasn't the only one who noticed how her eyes lit up and her smile brighter; how the simplest things made her so easily happy in one moment only to turn the tables and feel upset the next. His friends did not fail to explain this situation, and neither did he lack understanding of it. Her changes in moods varied, and quick as they were he could not deny his appreciation that she was, more than often, unmistakably happy.
She was still working in the hospital but missions were completely ruled out. They had a long talk about this and he could tell that she shared his love for the village that they grew up in. It became an easy choice with the safety of their own children now concerned. Things were different now, and he no longer saw the pink haired lady sitting by the balcony as one person.
She turned to his direction and huffed, immediately knowing and not liking that he had stood there for some time. Her green eyes shone brighter at his apologetic smile, much to the resisting pout of her lips. She did not find herself flattering and yet he would need no words to tell her otherwise.
His hands reached when he became within a feet from her, pulling close his beloved kunoichi. Running his hands through her hair, he silently apologized before kneeling to kiss her stomach. His arms wrapped firmly around her, eyes closed and basking in the overwhelming beauty that was his family to be.
She bent lower to kiss his head, all thoughts of annoyance forgotten. It could be argued that she had always been like this when it came to Uzumaki Naruto. Annoyed for a time and happy the next, some things never changed. Only now, she loved him more than she ever will and in her heart she believed that would never change.
