I'm putting a list of Alex's Pokémon on hand here since she nicknames them: Keldeo, King – Serperior, Dust – Dustox, Beauty – Beautifly, Drayda – Shiny Dratini, Penelope – Unfezant, Spirit – Swellow and Milady – Shiny Milotic.

Here's chapter 32 I hope you enjoy.

In conversations:

'- Translation of Poké Speech – No human unless otherwise stated can understand it. Ash can get the gist of what his Pokémon are saying due to his close bond with them.

Ash looked at all of the Numel, Zubat and Poochyena in front of them and knew that this wouldn't be an easy fight. The grunts' Pokémon may be a lot weaker than his, Salem's and Alessandra's but eventually numbers would beat skill so they had to strike hard and fast.

"Heracross go for the Poochyena with Close Combat, Nincada help Heracross with X-Scissor, Butterfree use Bug Buzz to stun the Numel's, Rai and Meowth cover Heracross and Nincada with Thunderbolt."

Ash felt Ralts and Eevee nudge his cheeks, he looked at them wondering why they were trying to get his attention. He saw that they were pointing from themselves to the Team Magma Pokémon.

"You two wanna fight?"

Eevee and Ralts nodded.

"Ok well Eevee use Shadow Ball and Ralts use Confusion to speed it up, aim for the Zubat."

"Everyone use Thunderbolt on all of the Zubat." Salem instructed.

"King help take down those Zubat with Hidden Power, Dust and Beauty use Silver Wind on the stunned Numel's, Drayda use Dragonbreath on the Poochyena, Keldeo and Milady use Water Pulse on the Numel and Penelope and Spirit use Aerial Ace on the Zubat that dodge the other attacks, "

Heracross and Nincada shot towards the Poochyena, the formers fists were glowing white and the latter crossed his claws which started glowing green. The majority of the Poochyena were frozen in fear as the two Pokémon charged towards them, a few however were unfazed and ran forward to meet the charge. That was a decision they quickly regretted when powerful bolts of electricity shocked them causing them in immense amount of pain, a green and yellow beam then hit the Poochyena which was enough to finish them off. Heracross and Nincada smashed the shocked Poochyena out of the way and then started knocking out the remaining Poochyena with a flurry of slashes, punches and kicks. Rai and Meowth kept firing Thunderbolt's while Drayda kept firing Dragonbreath at the few Poochyena who tried to flank the bugs which knocked the dark types out.

Meanwhile Butterfree's wings and turned red and they started to vibrate which made red sound waves be released from them. The red sound waves created a painful siren-like sound which made the Numel cry out in agony and they collapsed, trying to find a way to block out the skull splitting noise. While the fire types were down Beauty and Dust started flapping their wings incredibly fast and released a powerful wind that was filled with silver crescents at the Numel, the wind hit the Numel and picked the fire type up flinging them into the air. All of the Numel slammed down to the ground moments later and looked up just in time to see several orbs of water being fired at them by Keldeo and Milady, the orbs burst on impact which drenched all of the Numel and finished them off.

The only Pokémon in the possession of Team Magma that were still conscious were the Zubat who had been watching over everything that had happened so far and were now absolutely terrified after what they had just witnessed. Their eyes widened as they saw bolts of electricity, orbs of black energy that were surrounded in a blue glow and several red orbs headed their way. The Zubat quickly started trying to dodge the attacks and some of them were successful and watched as their fellow Pokémon let out pained screeches as they were shocked by the electricity, burned by the red orbs and sent crashing to the ground by the orbs of black energy. They felt safe until they saw an Unfezant and a Swellow glowing white as they flew towards them, before the Zubat had a chance to dodge Penelope and Spirit slammed into them. The force of the flying types ramming into them sent the Zubat crashing to the ground and they landed on a pile of unconscious Numel, Poochyena and their fellow Zubat.

Ash, Salem and Alex were proud of their Pokémon and hugged each of them. Nincada then glowed white, the blinding light forced everyone to shield their eyes. When the light died down everyone saw that there was now a Ninjask and a Shedinja flying in front of them. The Pokémon were all quick to congratulate the pain on the evolution. Ash then tapped a spare Pokéball against Shedinja which caught him instantly. He immediately let his newly acquired ghost type out who went back to celebrating with Ninjask.

"This isn't over yet." a voice said.

The Pokémon instantly stopped their celebrations and along with their trainers they looked back at the Team Magma grunts and saw three Team Magma members who appeared to have more elaborate uniforms. The trio all threw a Pokéball revealing a Camerupt, Crobat and a Mightyena. Everyone was ready to knock them out quickly however they stopped when they heard Rai, Luxray and Keldeo demand to fight on their own. The Pokémon walked back and stood alongside their trainers leaving Rai facing Mightyena, Luxray facing Crobat and Keldeo facing Camerupt. The six Pokémon sized each other up all of them smirking at their opponent, Ash, Salem and Alex were waiting for the Team Magma member to attack first however Ash was also wondering how Mr Moore was doing.

While Ash, Salem and Alex fought the Team Magma members, Mr Moore approached Maxie with Typhlosion by his side. Maxie heard footsteps getting closer, he turned around and a smirk appeared in his face as he watched the man who had thwarted him in the past.

"How did I know that you'd show up? Well I'm glad that you're here, now I'll get to do what I should have done five years ago." Maxie said.

"You couldn't beat me five years ago and today will be no different." Mr Moore replied.

"I wouldn't be so sure about that. This time I have a secret weapon." Maxie declared.

"It doesn't matter what secret weapon you have, I'll still defeat you."

"We'll see if you're so confident in a minute."

Maxie pulled an orb out of his bag, the orb was red and seemed to glow. The orb flashed red and then fused with Maxie, the orb was now in the middle of his chest and streaks of blue now covered Maxie's arms, face and hands. His eyes were glowing red and he stared laughing maniacally.

"With the Red Orbs power I can now control the Pokémon that will destroy you and anyone else who gets in my way. I call upon you Lord of the earth. Show him your fury Groudon!" Maxie said in an almost demonic voice.

The Pokéball on the necklace around Maxie's neck shattered and in a flash of red Groudon appeared. The Legendary roared so loud that the ground shook, Groudon stomped on the ground creating a massive earthquake that knocked Mr Moore off his feet. Typhlosion was quickly down to his friends side, worried that he had been injured. Mr Moor smiled at Typhlosion, he then pushed himself back up and looked at Groudon undaunted.

"Okay Typhlosion let's do this."

Typhlosion nodded and got into a combat stance, not at all intimidated by Groudon who was far larger than him.

"I just hope Ash, Salem and that girl are okay."

The battle between Ash, Salem and Alex against the trio of Team Magma members had been an easy fight with none of their Pokémon getting a scratch while the Camerupt, Crobat and Mightyena looked on the verge of fainting. Suddenly the ground shook badly and everyone was stunned to see an enormous red Legendary Pokémon not too far away.

"I-is that a Groudon?" Alex asked.

"Yeah I think it is." Ash replied.

"Ash isn't that where Mr Moore was headed?" Salem said.

"He went to take on the leader. If their leader has that Groudon we need to finish these clowns off and help him. Rai use Hyper Beam on Mightyena."

"Luxray use Thunder on Crobat."

"Keldeo use Hydro Pump on Camerupt."

Before the Team Magma members had a chance to act an orange orb formed in Rai's mouth and he fired a powerful orange beam from it. The beam shot at Mightyena who was too tired to even try to dodge, he just stood there resigned to his fate and closed his eyes. The beam hit Mightyena and shrouded the dark type in a thick cloud of smoke. The smoke quickly cleared revealing a badly injured and unconscious Mightyena. A bolt of electricity then shot off of Luxray and moments later the electricity surrounded Crobat, the flying type screeched in agony as the powerful electric attack painfully shocked him. Crobat lost consciousness after a few seconds and crashed down to the ground, landing on top of Mightyena. This only left Camerupt who's eyes widened as he saw Keldeo fired a powerful blast of water at him, the fire type did the only thing he could think of, he opened his mouth and shot a Flamethrower at the Hydro Pump. The flames were easily doused by Keldeo's attack, the water then carried on and drenched Camerupt. The powerful water attack was too much for Camerupt who collapsed as he lost what little energy he had left.

The minute they saw the final three Pokémon fall the Team Magma members turned around and started running away in an attempt to escape. Ash and Alex weren't having that though.

"Butterfree use Sleep Powder."

"Dust and Beauty to the same."

The bug types flew over the fainted Pokémon and the Team Magma grunts and released a blizzard of sleep inducing spores. The grunts tried to resist the effects of the powder but were unable to so they all dropped to the ground in a deep sleep.

Ash, Salem and Alex looked at all of the unconscious Team Magma grunts and their Pokémon and smiled. Ash then remembered that Mr Moore was now fighting the Leader of Team Magma who may be controlling that Groudon on his own. Ash then quickly ran back down the path and was closely followed by Salem, Alex and all of their Pokémon.

Ash, Salem, Alex and their Pokémon arrived in time to see Typhlosion jump out of the way of a Flamethrower. They all started running towards Mr Moore and Typhlosion so they could work together to defeat Groudon. Mr Moore looked back when he heard footsteps approaching and saw Ash, Salem, Alex and all of their Pokémon who looked ready to help fight Groudon.

"Stay back, it's too dangerous." Mr Moore commanded.

Everyone reluctantly stopped and met Mr Moore's gaze, Alex then stepped forward determined to help him.

"But I'm a former Unova Champion, I can help." Alex argued.

"With all due respect Ms Cesarini I know who you are but I also know that this is way out of your league. Leave this to me."

Alex could tell from the tone of Mr Moore's voice that this was not up for debate so she stepped back so that she was stood next to Ash and Salem.

Mr Moore felt a great deal of relief as he saw the young trainers step away. He knew that they were all strong, Alex especially but he couldn't risk getting them or their Pokémon hurt by Groudon. He looked from Typhlosion to Groudon and knew that he needed help so he took all five of his Pokéballs out of his pocket.

"Charizard, Infernape, Blaziken, Emboar and Delphox come on out."

All five fire types burst out of their Pokéballs and shot enormous Flamethrower's into the air, excited smirks appeared on their faces as they looked at the Legendary Pokémon in front of them. Mr Moore then looked at Typhlosion who was looking at him, Typhlosion placed his left hand on his right arm and then gave his trainer a small nod. Mr Moore understood and rolled his sleeve which revealed to everyone's shock a Mega Ring. He pressed the button and a bright light emanated from both the Mega Ring and Typhlosion, the light blinded everyone forcing them to shut their eyes. The light quickly faded which allowed everyone to open their eyes, they all looked amazed at the mega evolved form of Typhlosion. (There is a link on my profile page to the fan-art of Mega Typhlosion – It is an awesome design by Tomycase.)

"Hey Typhlosion how does it feel to be in that form again?" Mr Moore asked.

The fire type looked at his trainer and smirked while giving him a thumbs up.

'It feels great.'

"Good to hear. Now charge a Hyper Burn."

Typhlosion nodded and opened his mouth revealing an orange orb that was slowly increasing in intensity. The flames around Typhlosion's body erupted and the fire type was now radiating heat as he was surrounded in flames. Groudon shot a Flamethrower at Typhlosion expecting to see it collapse , the legendary was shocked to see that his attack appeared to just be absorbed by Typhlosion.

"Alright everyone we need to buy Typhlosion some time to charge the attack. Emboar, Blaziken and Infernape use Close Combat, Charizard fly around Groudon and rapid fire Dragon Pulse and Delphox protect them from Groudon's attacks with Psychic."

"Crush them Groudon."

Emboar, Blaziken and Infernape charged at Groudon, dodging a couple of Flamethrower's on the way. They split up each taking a different part of Groudon's body, Emboar started to hit Groudon's legs with a barrage of punches and kicks, Blaziken hit Groudon with an uppercut and then started to pummel the Legendary's body while Infernape leapt on to Groudon's back. The Sinnoh started climbed up until he got on to Groudon's head and then started attacking the Legendary's skull.

Groudon roared more in annoyance than pain at the series of punches and kicks being delivered to him. The Legendary let out another loud roar and shook his head violently which was enough to make Infernape lose his grip. The fire monkey was sent flying through the air and braced himself as he expected to land hard on the ground however he was caught by Charizard who then fired a turquoise orb at Groudon which slammed into the Legendary's head. Groudon was largely unaffected by the attack and he swept his claw down at Blaziken, he smirked as he prepared to see the overgrown chicken get crushed however he felt his arm be stopped somehow. He looked at his arm and saw that it was outlined in a blue glow, he then looked in front of him and saw that the fox holding a stick was surrounded in a similar glow. Groudon gave up on using his right arm and instead aimed his left at Blaziken.

Delphox knew there was no way that she could stop that one too so she just had to hope that Blaziken's reflexes would be good enough to save her. The psychic type released a relieved sigh when she saw Blaziken dodge the claw and then saw a turquoise orb and a burst of flames slam into Groudon's body where Blaziken had been striking. Groudon staggered back from the attack but then quickly sent a punch at Charizard who hadn't been expecting the Legendary to recover that quickly so Groudon's fist slammed into Charizard's gut which sent the dragon and Infernape who had still been riding on his back crashing to the ground. Infernape got back up and charged at Groudon again hoping to help Blaziken and Emboar who were struggling to avoid Groudon's wild attacks.

Emboar was the first was to be hit, he'd tried to dodge the attack but he was just too slow meaning that Groudon's left foot slammed into him and sent him crashing into the volcano. The Unova started skidded down the outside of the volcano coming to a stop when he collided with Charizard. Groudon then focussed his attacks on the two remaining fighting types but a combination of them dodging and Delphox freezing one of his limbs made it impossible. He then decided to change his target and quickly moved forward and picked up Delphox and started crushing the psychic type who screamed in pain. Infernape and Blaziken quickly reacted by leaping on to Groudon's head and used Slash on his face. The ground type released his grip on Delphox and roared in pain. Infernape and Blaziken jumped away from the enraged Legendary and stood alongside Charizard, Emboar and Delphox who had all managed to get back up but they looked exhausted.

"That's it I can't just standby and watch this anymore. Rai Hyper Beam, Meowth Water Pulse, Eevee and Ralts go for another Shadow Ball enhanced by Confusion and Butterfree use Energy Ball."

"Ash is right, Keldeo and Milady use Water Pulse, King use Leaf Storm, Dust and Beauty use Silver Wind."

"You're not leaving us out, Galvantula use Energy Ball, Jolteon use Signal Beam, Plusle and Minun use Hidden Power."

The Pokémon moved forward and stood next to Mr Moore's Pokémon. The fire types were too exhausted to stop them from helping so instead they launched another barrage of attacks at Groudon. As Infernape, Blaziken and Emboar charged at Groudon again, Delphox and Charizard kept up their long range attacks. Rai and the other new that their attacks wouldn't do more than annoy Groudon but they knew that it would help. So Rai formed an orange orb in his mouth and fired an immensely powerful orange beam from it, the beam slammed into Groudon but it didn't do anything more than momentarily distract the Legendary which allowed Blaziken, Infernape and Emboar to land a devastating blow to his head. Several orbs of various colours, a tornado of leaves, a rainbow coloured beam and a wind filled with silver crescents then collided with Groudon which made him stagger back due to the sheer number of attacks that had struck him.

Typhlosion then roared as the aura around him increased dramatically in power. Mr Moore knew that was the signal that the attack was ready.

"It's ready, everyone stand back!" Mr Moore yelled.

All of the Pokémon quickly did as he said and got back behind Typhlosion. When he knew that everyone was safe Typhlosion launched a powerful orange beam that was surrounded in scorching flames at Groudon. The Legendary instantly launched a Fire Blast in response and it clashed with Typhlosion's attack however it was easily overpowered. The Hyper Burn carried on and hit Groudon, exploding on impact, shrouding Groudon in thick smoke. Moments later the ground shook violently which knocked everyone to the ground, they got back up and saw that Groudon was lying on the ground unconscious. Ash, Salem, Alex and their Pokémon were all in awe at the sheer power that Typhlosion had just displayed.

Suddenly a Master Ball flew out of nowhere and tapped Groudon, the unconscious Legendary was sucked into the ball which then flew back to a man stood on a Hydreigon.

"I must thank you old man. I thought stealing Groudon would be much more difficult."

"Moukoko!" Mr Moore said.

"It's nice to see that you remember me old man. Farewell."

Before anyone could react the Moukoko sent out an Alakazam that teleported the trio away.

"Damn, Moukoko got away with Groudon. Well at least we have Maxie." Mr Moore said.

A series of pained screams and harsh coughs made everyone turned their attention to Maxie. They watched as the blue orb separated from the leader of Team Magma who vomited and then passed out.

"Is he gonna be okay." Ash asked worriedly.

"Yeah he will be, I've seen this before and it's just his body reacting to losing the blue orb."

"So what are we gonna do about Groudon." Alex queried

"I'll send out the word that Groudon has been captured by Moukoko, hopefully someone will be able to track him down. Right you three should go back to Lavaridge and make sure nothings happened, I'll wait here for the police to arrive."

Ash, Salem and Alex nodded in agreement, they then returned most of their Pokémon. The only exceptions were the ones who usually remained out of their Pokéballs for Ash and Salem as well as Penelope, Spirit, Ninjask, Shedinja and Butterfree. Alex got on to Penelope and told Spirit to allow both Ash and Salem to ride on her back, the flying type nodded and allowed them to get on his back. Shedinja picked up Meowth, Ninjask picked up Chu and Butterfree picked up Rai. The flying types then flew to the base of Mt Chimney and landed, Ash, Salem and Alex got off of Spirit and Penelope. Rai, Chu and Meowth were placed on the ground by the flying Pokémon who were quickly returned. The trio of trainers then quickly made their way back to Lavaridge.

Ash, Salem and Alex got back to Lavaridge Town and were relieved to find that the town hadn't been attacked by Team Magma. They went to the Pokémon Centre and handed all of their Pokémon to Nurse Joy so she could heal them up after their battles on Mt Chimney. While they waited they took a seat in the lobby, Ash gazed at the Raimodo egg while Salem and Alex chatted. He looked up at them and then a question came to mind.

"So what's a former Unova Champion doing in Hoenn?" Ash asked.

A faint blush appeared on Alex face, she waited a moment to compose herself.

"Well I was kinda looking for someone. I'd heard rumours of a black dragon flying over Hoenn which I believed to be owned by the person I am looking for but that turned out to be false."

"Who are you looking for and since the rumours were false why are you still here?" Salem queried

"To answer your first question his name is N. To answer your second I was going to leave Hoenn but then heard whispers of my sister working with Team Firestorm. I intend to find and stop her." Alex replied.

"Well it's not gonna be easy. You may have taken down Team Plasma but Team Firestorm are far more powerful than them." Ash said

"Wait how do you know about that? No one outside of Champions and regional Professor should know that."

"I studied under Professor Oak for several months and he taught me about what it going on around the various regions. He wanted to make sure I knew about any danger that might come my way."

Alex simply nodded as she didn't have a response to that. She let out a sigh as she thought of N again.

"Hey I don't suppose you've met N have you?" she asked hopefully.

Ash and Salem exchanged a look and shrugged, they looked at Alex sadly.

"No I don't think so." they both answered.

"Damn." Alex muttered.

Silence took over until they heard a voice over the speaker system.

"Your Pokémon are all healed." Nurse Joy called.

Ash, Salem and Alex got up and collected their Pokémon from Nurse Joy. The latter left the Pokémon Centre with the intention of challenging Flannery to battle, Ash and Salem on the other hand sat back down and started to consider who to send back to Professor Oak and who to call over in preparation for when they get back to Petalburg and challenge Norman.

Notes

I was dubious about adding mega evolution to the story but in the end my love for some of these designs (both official and fan made) meant that I just had to add them. The mega evolutions will be rare, maybe just in a major tournament match or against Elites but only when both sides possess a mega ring/necklace etc.

This was a shorter chapter that I'll try to make up for in the next chapter.

Next time we'll have Ash call over his team, we'll get a new party member and we might well see some more evolutions.
