Chapter 297

Dracula walked around this castle that bore his name. This was an amusement ride, but it served it's purpose. Dracula was born in 1431 to a Romanian prince. At the time Romania was part of the Ottoman empire. As a child Vlad was held hostage by the sultan to keep his father from uniting the nobles. When Vlad's father was killed he was released, allied with king Hyundai of Hungary, and overthrew the current prince to take the throne. Vlad tried to free his people, but he used brutal methods against the Turks, and those who collaborated with them. He aquired the nickname "the impaler" based on his most painful method of execution. He was called "Dracula" which can be translated as "son of the dragon" or "son of the devil." When it became obvious that Vlad couldn't defeat the Turks he tried to make a deal with them. He offerred to help the sultan overthrow his bigger enemy Hyundai if the empire would leave Romania forever. But Hyundai's spies uncovered evidence ad the king had Vlad imprisoned. Vlad's supporters claimed that Vlad was a crusader, the pope pressurred Hyundai to release Vlad. Hyundai made Vlad an ally again after 13 years in prison, and gave him money and soldiers to free Romania. But Vlad was again defeated. On the verge of death he made a deal with certain demons. He became a new kind of vampire, able to shapeshift, seemingly indestructible. Vlad became Dracula. Dracula spent centuries quiety gaining more power. He joined the Cocillium Mortuum, the Circle of the Black Thorne, told Bram Stoker his story, although Stoker changed details. Dracula saw his own son assasinated by the nobles, while attending church. But today Romania was free, while the Ottoman empire was long gone. He was once feared, now he was mocked in movies and children's toys. This castle was one such scary boardwalk ride. Children were scared, teenagers made love in secluded areas. But it's founder, William Morey, built this thing during the cold wa. Underneath was a nuclear shelter, Morey would've been able to conduct business from the shelter. The castle's dungeon seemed like merely part of the boat ride, But Morey built this to hold Soviet prisoners during World War III. This dungeon even still had an old radio to entertain potential prisoners. This dungeon could definitely be made useful for the council.
