I'm starting to get the feeling that you guys aren't very fond of the cliffhangers well I'm sure you'll all be delighted to hear that I plan to have several more cliffhangers so look forward to that.
I want to tell you all that I already have the OC's I require for Hoenn however I would take any new ones as there will be a sequel to this so I'll need OC's.
Shout outs to Draco55 who very kindly mentioned the year anniversary in the most recent chapter of his story 'Kalos: League of Fashionable Challenges' so thank you again Draco. Ash looked around the area and was shocked at the sheer destruction he was witnessing, trees had been broken with most of them missing branches, some of them had giant holes in them and some had completely fallen down. The boulders that had been making this a more secluded had been shattered and there was rubble strewn everywhere. As he looked at the warzone in front of him Ash spotted what appeared to be a motionless body, he took a few steps forward and saw that it was in fact a body with peach colored fur. He felt his heart break for Glaceon as he knew who that must be, he looked down at his Pokémon and could see that Glaceon, Kirlia and Raimodo looked terrified.
"Raichu keep the young ones back there. Meowth I need your help."
Raichu immediately led the younger ones away from the area and Meowth followed Ash as he sprinted over to the body and saw that it was indeed Espeon, they both quickly knelt next to her and Ash checked her pulse. He let out a relieved sigh as he felt a pulse and although her pulse was strong he was worried about how slow it seemed to be. He checked over the psychic Eeveelution and was shocked to see the sheer number and severity of cuts and bruises that were covering her body, Ash could only imagine how much pain she must have felt as she sustained the injuries. Ash then took a closer look at her to see which wounds needed treatment the most. It was horrifying to look at Espeon due to her peach colored fur which was now matted with dried blood and dirt. (This shiny Espeon isn't green I am using the fanart done by magic-lover2128 which is peach colored. There is a link on my profile that will show you what Espeon looks like)
He could already tell that he didn't have the ability to treat these wounds but he'd have to do his best and get her to Vermillion as quickly as he could. He took his backpack off and took out his first aid kit, he opened the box and was worried to see that he only had a couple of Super Potions and some bandages. Luckily he still had clean water that he could use to clean the wounds. He knew that she needed stitches for some of the wounds but he wasn't confident enough in his suturing skills to attempt doing the stitches himself so he'd just have to clean the wounds and stop the bleeding, then leave the rest to Nurse Joy.
He took out one of the Super Potions and sprayed it on the long gash that was running along Espeon's side, he saw her wince and heard the psychic type moan in pain. He watched as the Eeveelutions eyes flickered open and she started to tremble violently as she looked around fearfully, her eyes finally stopped on Ash and he saw the sheer terror in her eyes. He gently ran his hand through her fur being careful to avoid any of her injuries.
"It's okay, it's okay, you're safe now." Ash murmured softly
"I-it's you."Espeon said as she recognized the boy.
Ash smiled and gently stroked the psychic types head as he scratched behind her ear. Espeon gradually calmed down until she stopped shaking and was looking calmly at Ash.
"Yes Espeon it's me, I'm back and I have your daughter with me."
"Y-you do? Is she okay?"
"Yes she is doing fine and has evolved into a strong Glaceon; she really wants to meet you but first we're gonna get you healed. Is that okay?"
"Yes it is. Thank you, I knew that giving her to you was a good idea."
"Thank you for your faith in me Espeon. Celebi can put Espeon to sleep please?"
"Wait! In my den I have a pair of Eevee, they're Glaceon's brother and sister."
"Okay I'll send Glaceon in to get them. I'll see you when you wake up Espeon."
"Okay thank you."
Celebi's eyes glowed blue and she stared at Espeon who could feel her eyes getting heavier, moments later she fell to sleep and Ash smiled as he looked at the peaceful look on her face.
"Thank you Celebi, can you go and tell Glaceon to go in the den and retrieve her brother and sister."
The grass type nodded and flew over to Glaceon and told her what she needed to do. Glaceon immediately shot into the den, she crawled through the den until she came to a sleeping area where she saw a pair of Eevee's huddled together in the corner. As soon as the Eevee's saw the ice type they buried their heads into each other's fur and started to shake violently.
'You don't need to be afraid, I'm your sister.' Glaceon said.
One of the Eevee's looked at Glaceon.
'R-really?' he asked shakily
Glaceon nodded and slowly walked over to her brother and sister, the Eevee's pulled away from each other and stared at Glaceon, after a few moments they leapt at her and nuzzled their new found sister. Glaceon returned the show of affection and the siblings embraced one another as they forgot everything else that had happened. Glaceon was the first to break the embrace and picked her sibling up then put them on her back.
'Come on I've got to take you somewhere safe.' Glaceon said.
The Eevee's nodded and allowed their sister to carry them out of the den, they exited the den just in time to see Ash place Espeon on to Aerodactyl's back. Both of the Eevee jumped off of Glaceon's back and glared at the human who was taking their mother.
'He's taking mum. We've got to do something.' The male Eevee said.
The female Eevee nodded and before Glaceon could explain the situation they charged at Ash who heard something approaching so he turned around and saw the Eevee's. He watched as they leapt at him which knocked him to the ground, Ash quickly raised his hands in front of himself as he saw them opened their mouths revealing their teeth. The Eevee's then snapped their jaws shut around Ash's hands, Ash had braced himself to feel some pain but then remembered what his gloves were made of. He looked at his gloved hands and saw the Eevee's trying to pierce the leather but they weren't able to.
"Thank Arceus mum made these so tough." Ash thought.
Suddenly the Eevee's were surrounded in a blue glow, they tried to move but found that they couldn't move a muscle. Their jaws were then forcibly opened by an unseen force and they were placed on the ground in front of Celebi who was surrounded in the same blue glow. Ash looked gratefully at Celebi and walked over to her. He then pulled the legendary to him and hugged her tightly, Celebi sighed in content as she felt Ash's arms around her and she was sure that her cheeks were heating up as she buried her head into his shirt.
"Thanks Celebi. I owe you one." Ash said.
"No problem Ash."
Ash broke the hug with Celebi when he saw Glaceon storm over to her siblings. He was shocked by the enraged look on her face, he never imagined that she could look so furious. The Eevee's shrank back under the glare and the female Eevee started to tremble.
'What the hell are you two doing?!' Glaceon yelled angrily.
The male Eevee stood up to Glaceon defiantly and glared at her.
'He's one of those bad men. He wants to steal us and then force us to battle for his enjoyment.' The male Eevee said.
'He's not a bad man, he's my dad!' Glaceon replied.
The female Eevee got up and like her brother started to glare at Glaceon, the trio gradually intensified their glares and started to growl at each other. Ash was worried about the siblings and was about to try and defuse the situation however he didn't need to as Espeon spoke to them all through telepathy.
"All three of you calm down." Espeon said firmly.
The siblings did as their mother asked and the Eevee's ran over to Espeon who was resting her head against Aerodactyl's wing.
'Mum are you okay? Did he hurt you?' both of the Eevee's asked worriedly.
"No he didn't, he's helping me and I'll be fine thanks to this boy. You don't need to worry about him, he's our friend."
'A-are you sure?' the female Eevee asked.
"Yes I'm sure. He's taking me somewhere that can help me get better. I want you to stay with him until we get there okay." Espeon said.
'Okay.' They replied.
Espeon smiled at her children and passed out moments later, tears started to trickle from the Eevee's eyes as they feared the worst. Ash knelt next to the Eevee's and gently ran his hands through their fur, the Eevee's looked from their mother to Ash.
"She's fine. She's just lost a lot of energy due to her injuries. I promise you two that she will be fine." Ash whispered.
Ash smiled softly at the Eevee's who averted their gaze and started looking at the ground guiltily. Ash knew that they were probably feeling bad about attacking him so he picked them up and hugged them tightly. They looked up at Ash who was still smiling at them.
"It's okay you two, there's no need for you to feel bad about what happened. You didn't know that I was helping her and if I'd been in your place I'd have done the exact same thing to protect my mother. Now let's get Espeon to Vermillion."
Everyone nodded and the group quickly shot out of the clearing and headed straight back to Vermillion City.
Ash ran alongside Aerodactyl as they entered Vermillion City and they pushed their way through the crowd of people; knocking several people over as they went. Ash heard many of the people yell at them and he knew that he should really be apologising to those people but he honestly didn't care about politeness right now, all that mattered was getting Espeon to the Pokémon Centre. Moments later Ash burst through the doors of the Pokémon Centre with his Pokémon in tow. They ran up to the main desk and were glad to see Nurse Joy who was looking at them, wondering why they were in such a hurry. She was about to ask what was wrong but was cut off by Ash.
"Nurse Joy you have to help this Espeon. I found her on the outskirt of the city and I've done the best I can to stop the bleeding but she seriously needs your help."
"Oh goodness she's sustained a lot of injuries. Bring her into the ICU and I'll examine her wounds."
Nurse Joy quickly walked out from behind the desk and led Ash, Aerodactyl and the others out of the foyer and into the ICU. They moved Espeon from Aerodactyl's back to the bed and started checking over the Eeveelutions injuries. The Pokémon all crowded around the bed making it very difficult for Nurse Joy to examine Espeon.
"Ash I'll need your Pokémon to wait outside, there's not enough room for them in here."
The Pokémon nodded and reluctantly left the room; Ash was about to follow them when he was pulled back by Nurse Joy. He turned around to look at Nurse Joy and saw her looking worriedly between him and Espeon.
"Wait Ash I'm going to need your help."
"Why?"
"I believe that Espeon was attacked by a Scyther which would explain the gashes on her body. There also appears to be what I believe to be the tip of a Scyther's blade embedded in Espeon and I'll need your help to remove it. I'd ask one of the Chansey or Blissey but they are busy with the Pokémon and their hands aren't really good at this kind of work."
"Okay just give me a second to make sure my Pokémon will be okay out there."
Nurse Joy nodded and Ash quickly left the room, he closed the door and saw that his Pokémon were sat outside.
"Listen guys Nurse Joy needs my help so I want you to go find a spare room and stay there until I come and find you. Meowth and Raichu are in charge so whatever they say I expect you to do it."
Everyone nodded and started to follow Meowth and Raichu who had started the search for a room, the only ones who had remained were the Eevee's and Glaceon. Kirlia and Raimodo noticed the absence of their sister and walked back to find that she like her siblings was trembling. They embraced their sister but knew that nothing they could do would be able to help right now. They looked up at their dad who got down on his knees in front of Glaceon and the Eevee's.
"I promise you that I will do everything I can to make sure your mother will be fine."
Glaceon had complete faith in her dad however the Eevee's were still reluctant to leave. They eventually gave in when they felt Glaceon, Raimodo and Kirlia gently nudge them away from the door. Ash watched the young Pokémon walk away and felt sorry for them, he couldn't imagine how it must feel for them to see their mother in such a state. He got up and opened the door to the ICU; he then took last glance down the hallway at the Eevee's and Glaceon.
"She will be fine I promise." Ash murmured.
Ash walked back into the ICU and saw Nurse Joy had moved Espeon into an operating theatre, she'd put on her Scrubs and was now ready for surgery; she reminded him a lot of the doctors in the hospital shows his mum always loved. Nurse Joy helped Ash into similar Scrubs and the pair was ready to operate.
Two hours later.
Nurse Joy picked up a clean tissue from the table and wiped the sweat from her brow, they had finally managed to remove the Scyther blade and sew up the wound although there had been a few scary moments when they thought that they were going to lose her. She looked up at Ash who was also wiping his sweat away, she was proud of how well he had done as there had been some moments that would have made a professional lose it but he'd remained calm throughout.
"Well that's the hard part done." Nurse Joy said.
Ash let out a relieved sigh, he had almost had a panic attack when blood had started to spurt out of Espeon and he had been on the verge of throwing up but he'd forced the vomit down and kept himself focused on the task at hand.
"All that's left is to sew up the remaining wounds."
"Okay so how can I help?"
"Actually I can take it from here Ash. You should go make sure your Pokémon aren't getting in trouble."
"Alright I'll leave you to it."
Ash removed the bloody gloves and scrubs he had been wearing and placed them into the bin in the corner of the room, he wasn't sure whether they would clean the scrubs or just throw them away but either way he didn't really care. The only thing that mattered now was making sure that he didn't empty his stomach in the operating room. He quickly walked out of the operating room, through the ICU and straight to the nearest bathroom. He barged into the bathroom and immediately emptied his stomach into the nearest toilet.
"Arceus I feel awful." Ash thought.
He pushed himself to his feet and flushed the toilet, he then left the bathroom and started the hunt for his Pokémon.
It didn't take him long to find the group of Pokémon as they had taken refuge in the room nearest the ICU. He walked into the room and saw the Eevee's and Glaceon were huddled together, their bodies were shaking and despite the best efforts of Raimodo, Kirlia, Raichu and Meowth they didn't appear to be calming down. Ash sat next to the siblings and placed them in his lap, he hugged them tightly as he gently ran his hands through their fur.
"Hey you have nothing to worry about, Nurse Joy and I worked really hard and your mother is gonna be fine."
The Eevee's and Glaceon looked up at Ash through tearful eyes.
'R-really.' Glaceon whimpered.
"Yes really. I promised that she'd be fine and I keep my promises."
Bright smiles suddenly appeared on the siblings faces and they launched themselves at Ash, the force of the Eevee's and Glaceon tackling him knocked Ash on to his back. He tried to sit back up but was forced down by the Eevee's and Glaceon who were nuzzling him which made him laugh as their fur tickled his skin. Ash wasn't sure how long he lay there with the trio nuzzling him but they eventually let him sit up, the siblings immediately jumped back into his lap and Ash wrapped his arms around them tightly. He looked down at Glaceon and then to the Eevee's.
"So what am I gonna call you two. I can't just say Eevee since that's both of you."
The Eevee's looked at each other and made a series of yipping noises, Ash looked at Meowth waiting for translation. It was times like this that Ash was especially grateful that Meowth had chosen to join him.
"They said dat their mother's been calling him Vee and her Eve."
Ash looked gratefully at the cat and gave him a nod; the cat returned the gesture and went back to his conversation he'd been having with Raichu. Ash turned his attention back to the Pokémon in his arms.
"Okay Eve and Vee since we're gonna be here for a while would you two like to be groomed."
Eve and Vee yipped again and nodded, Ash smiled at the duo and placed them on the ground.
"Okay just let me get my things out of my bag."
Ash suddenly realized that he had left not only his bag but everything in it back where he had found Espeon.
"Shit. I left my bag in the clearing."
"Good thing one of us is on the ball." Raichu said.
Ash looked over to Raichu who dragged the bag over to him.
"Thanks Raichu. When did you get my bag though? You were running right next to me as we came here."
"Yeah but when you sent us to find a room I knew that you'd left your bag behind so I quickly went back and got it."
Ash smiled at his best friend and scratched behind the mouse's ears which earned a content sigh from him. When Ash stopped scratching behind Raichu's ear the mouse headed back to Meowth so that Ash could pay attention to Eve and Vee. Ash placed Vee on the ground so he could work on Eve first and he started to groom her.
Ash lost track of how long he spent grooming Eve and Vee; in all honesty he could have finished a while ago but he wanted to keep them distracted from thinking about their mother. He looked over to Glaceon regularly to make sure that she was okay and was happy to see Raimodo and Kirlia fussing over her which seemed to be having the desired effect. He was so lost in taking care of the sibling that he didn't hear the door open.
"Hello Ash, I've been looking for you."
Ash's head shot up and he saw Nurse Joy smiling at him.
"Hello Nurse Joy. How's Espeon?"
"The surgery went well thanks to you Ash. If you want to you can visit Espeon however you have to be quiet as she still recovering from the surgery. I would recommend having only two or three Pokémon come with you."
"Alright Nurse Joy I'll bring Glaceon, Eve and Vee with me."
"Ok follow me."
Ash nodded and was about to get up when he felt Glaceon climb on to his shoulders and Eve and Vee leapt into his arms. He chuckled at the trio and then got up, he picked up his bag and slung it over his shoulder. He quickly followed Nurse Joy as she left the room and went to the private room that Espeon was resting in. She opened the door and they walked into the room spotting Espeon lying down under a blanket. As soon as the psychic type spotted Ash and her children she sat up and looked at them.
"I'll leave you now. I'll be back in an hour to check on you Espeon."
Espeon nodded at Nurse Joy who walked out of the room leaving Ash, Eve, Vee, Glaceon and Espeon. In mere seconds the siblings had leapt on to the bed and were carefully nuzzling their mother as a few tears trickled down their faces. Ash smiled at the scene and sat down in the seat next to the bed. He placed his bag on the ground and watched as the siblings gradually calmed down and gave their mother some space; the psychic type then turned her attention to Ash.
"Hello Ash; thank you for taking care of my children."
"It's no problem Espeon. So according to Nurse Joy your surgery went well so how are you feeling?"
"I'm feeling a lot better thanks to you. If you hadn't found me when you did I don't even wanna think about what might have happened to me and my Eevee's."
"I'm just glad I got there when I did.
The group spent a while talking before Espeon stopped and looked at her children.
"Could you three please leave Ash and I? I need to talk to Ash alone."
The siblings didn't really want to leave their after spending only a short while with her but they respected her wishes and quickly made their way out of the room. Ash was confused and he looked at Espeon wondering what was so important that she wanted her children to be absent.
"There is something I wish to ask you Ash."
"What is it Espeon?"
Espeon sighed and then looked out of the window; watching as a pair of Pidgey landed on a nearby tree.
"It is a dangerous world out there especially for Pokémon such as my children and I." Espeon started.
"Because you're not the same colour as the majority of your kind." Ash finished.
Espeon nodded and then turned her gaze back to Ash.
"Which is why I want you to take me and my children with you."
"W-why? I thought that you'd want to stay free in the wild."
"But how long would we truly be free? Many trainers would want to take us because of our rarity and the majority of our kind hates us for our difference. We might stay free for a while but in the end we'd either be captured by some callous trainer or our kind would…. dispose of us."
"I guess you're right it isn't really safe for you out there but why choose me?"
"I've looked into your memories and seen how you treat your Pokémon like family and I've seen the things you've done to protect Pokémon. I know for certain that being with you is the best thing for us."
Ash felt a great deal of pride and even a little embarrassed by Espeon's praise.
"There is one condition though."
"What is it?"
"You have to promise that you'll train us like your other Pokémon and allow us to battle for you."
"Deal."
Ash offered his hand to Espeon who placed her paw in it, the two did the closest thing they could to a handshake and smiled. The pair broke their handshake and Ash looked at Espeon with a puzzled expression. Espeon was curious as to what would cause her new trainer to make such a face.
"Espeon there's something I've been wanting to know since I found you, Eve and Vee."
Espeon sighed as she knew what he wanted to ask.
"You want to know where Umbreon is."
Ash nodded and watched as tears started to form in Espeon's eyes.
"H-h-he a-a-abandoned us a few days after Eve and Vee hatched. He said that he didn't want the responsibility of raising kits so he left us. He came back a week later and said that he'd had a change of heart, I was ecstatic and we um spent the night together. The next morning he was gone again. "
"That's horrible, I'm so sorry Espeon." Ash said as he hugged Espeon.
He held her tightly as she cried into his shirt, he was shocked that Umbreon would do that as when he had met Umbreon months ago he did not seem like the type who would shirk his duty to his kits. Ash hoped that he would come across Umbreon someday so he could pay for the pain he has caused Espeon.
"Well you don't need to worry about that happening again. I promise you that I will not abandon you, Eve or Vee."
"I know you won't."
Espeon nuzzled Ash briefly and then pulled back; Ash wiped the tears that were threatening to fall away from Espeon's eyes and then reached for his bag so he could find something to dry her tears stained fur with but noticed that his bag was missing. He looked around the room but could not spot it anywhere.
"Wait, where did my bag go?"
Ash looked at Espeon as he heard the psychic type chuckled.
"Eve and Vee probably took your bag and wandered off, they are very curious Eevee's. They've taken bags, coats and all sorts of other things from people before and rummaged through them."
Ash's eyes widened as he remembered what he had inside his bag.
"Have they told you what they wanted to evolve into?" Ash asked.
Espeon looked at Ash bemusedly wondering why he'd suddenly asked this question.
"Well yes they both had an idea of what they wanted to evolve into. Why do you ask?"
"I have several stones used for evolving in my bag, if they touch one it'll make them evolve."
Espeon's eyes widened and she jumped off her bed despite her injuries and chased after Ash as he ran through the Pokémon Centre looking for the Eevee's, they eventually came to a room where they could see a bag on the bed, they walked into the room and saw the tails of Eve and Vee sticking out of his bag.
"Stop looking through the bag now." Ash yelled.
Unfortunately it was too late and a blinding light radiated from the bag, Ash and Espeon were forced to shield their eyes until the light died down. They opened their eyes and looked at the two Eeveelutions that were now stood in the room. Ash sighed as he ran his right hand through his messy hair, he looked down at Espeon who was staring at her children.
"Great. Now what do we do?" Ash asked.
Notes
Not exactly a cliffhanger but it must be pretty annoying not knowing what Eve and Vee evolved into.
I considered making it Team Firestorm who attacked Espeon but felt that not only would that be a little too convenient to have them attack her and they would have taken her due to her rarity.
Eve and Vee will be called by their Pokémon name from now on not by nickname.
Next chapter will be the Christmas Special (sorry that it'll be a little late but I was really busy over the past week). I'm aiming to have the Christmas Special uploaded by New Year (fingers crossed) so look forward to that. I considered adding it on to this chapter but with Espeon's injuries I thought that wouldn't really fit into a Christmas Special.
