I passed two exams! But I can't let it get to my head. My brother. My brother must be so proud of me! I'm getting stronger. I'm getting better. I'm getting, I'm getting…more…mature I guess. That's a scary thought. I couldn't dream of a world where I'm not around my brother. It's not… it's just not possible! Nor do I want it to be possible. Not ever.

We had made it to Zaban city in one piece and dare I say it was something else! It was almost like a giant market place city. There were stalls everywhere and very little permanent shops. I think that's what gave this city its charm. We followed the navigator who was leading us somewhere. I and Gon looked around at the stalls excitedly. That was it; I needed to buy myself a bag here and now!
"As Navigators, our job is to identify worthy Hunter applicants and guide them to the exam site." He said as I quickly walked past Leorio and next to my brother slightly tugging on his white sleeve. Kurapika looked at me with a questioning look.
"Please please please can I have some of my money to get a bag? That way you won't have to carry all my stuff! Please please please pretty please?" I questioned him, well more like begged. He thought about it though, making me furrow my brows slightly.
"We're here for the hunter exam, not shopping…" He said trailing off as I looked at him wide eyed.
"Oh please big brother! Please please please really pretty please?" I begged once more as he thought about it some more before sighing to himself and taking out my blue wallet like purse.
"Stay where I can see you." He said, defeat evident in his face as I smiled widely at him and quickly hugged his side before going off to one of the stalls that was still in his site. I heard footsteps behind me and turned my head slightly to see Gon had followed me. I smiled at him as he smiled back widely.

There were guys shouting for us to try stuff. Did you know Panda-frog-on-a-stick is famous in Zaban city? I didn't! I'm glad I didn't try one though; frogs were not something I could eat. They seem too….gross. Gon was hypnotised by it though and had stayed at the stall. I had found the bag stall and looked at the bags. I found a messenger bag, much like my brothers but blue in colour. I instantly liked it and brought it, giving the man the money. It was much more expensive than I thought it would be if I wasn't. One thousand and five hundred Jenny that was half my money gone. I quickly chucked the shoulder strap over my shoulder, smiling widely at my purchase.
"Hey, little girl!" Someone called out as I was making my way back to my brother and the group. I looked at the guy, walking up to the stall slightly. It looked like a weapon stall, filled with different kinds of weapons.
"Someone like you shouldn't be wondering the streets unprotected. I recommend these. They're light weight and small enough for your hands to grasp around." He said, holding out a pair of small daggers. I didn't know what they were called, or if they were even daggers, but they had what looked like three points, the middle one being longer than the other. I reached my hand out to grab one as he pulled it away moving his finger slightly.
"For a price that is. Twenty Thousand Jenny and they're yours. They're one of a kind you see." He said making my eyes go wide.
"But, I only have one thousand five hundred Jenny… that's way less!" I said to him quietly frowning. He smirked slightly and pulled a face as if he was thinking.
"How about this, I'll practically give them away to you. One thousand Jenny. That'll leave you with some spending money on sweets." He said, a smirk sitting on his face. I had to think about it, that was a really good deal! And I did need something to protect myself with other than my fists. I had no idea how to use blades but I could learn on the go.
"Mishka! What are you doing!?" I heard my brother yelling out, it sounded like he was getting closer. I looked behind me to see he was walking in my direction, but also looking for me. I looked back at the sales man.
"I'll take them." I said to him handing him over the thousand Jenny as he closed the box and handed me the items. I quickly stuffed them into my bag smiling widely as Kurapika came up behind me and grabbed my sleeve covered wrists, pulling me away slightly.
"I told you to stay in my site, who knows what could have happened!" He said as he walked me back to the group. I furrowed my brows and frowned at him.
"Sorry big brother." I said quietly to him. I couldn't help but turn my head back slightly, although I wish I hadn't. That guy who said my weapons were one of a kind, he lied! He was pulling out another box to put on display! I couldn't help but glare my best at him. He caught my eye and instead smiled and waved slightly, only making my cheeks redden slightly.

We made it out of the market place. Kurapika said I wasn't allowed to transfer my stuff into my bag until we got to a place where we could sit down. That way should anything drop I wasn't rushing to pick it up. The navigator was in front of us as we were walking through a much larger clearing. I kept one hand on my bag at all times, looking around the place as I stood next to my brother, a sleeve covered hand grasping tightly onto the back of his tabard once more.
"I believe, that is the building." The navigator said looking at the piece of paper in his hands and pointing to a building. We looked at the building he was pointing at. My eyes went wide in surprise, it was so tall.
"It's really tall!" I said looking up, my eyes darting up to try and see the top of the building.
"They have a really nice building!" Gon said looking up himself. The four of us began walking towards the tall building, looking up at it.
"So this is the exam building. " Leorio said as we stopped in front of it. I could feel myself bouncing on the inside. This was it; we were going to take the exam here and now!
"This is what draws…" Leorio started.
"Hunter applicants from around the world." My brother finished off for him.
"My first shot at the hunter exam… Was this how dad felt when he first arrived?" Gon questioned himself as I looked at the building.
"I made it this far…I can pass this exam!" I said quietly to myself looking up at the building. I was getting ready to just burst in through the doors and take my exam right there in the waiting office. Today, I was going to become a hunter!
"Hey guys. Over here." The navigator said making us turn our heads to look at him pointing at a small, what looked like to be ramen bar. I furrowed my brows slightly.
"So this big building isn't the hunter exam building?" I questioned him
"Wait, this isn't funny! Isn't that an ordinary restaurant? You can't possibly mean that Hunter applicants from around the world are meant to assemble here?" Leorio questioned the man as we walked towards him. I have to admit, even I found it strange and I was open to anything! I looked between the building and the small restaurant.
"The bigger one seems like the place exams are held…" I said quietly, standing slightly behind my brother as Leorio continued his rage.
"I do. No one would ever expect the hunter exam, with its millions of candidates to be located here, right?" The man said as we turned to look at the restaurant better.
I couldn't help but furrow my brows. This all seemed like a big joke; a big, mean, misleading joke with no funny punch line, or a punch line at all for that matter.
"That's true." Leorio said, but quietly as if speaking to himself. However, he wasn't the world's quietest speakers. I dared not to speak though at the moment.

We walked inside to be greeted by the sound of frying with the smell of bubbling oil to accompany it. It made my stomach growl quietly, making me place a hand in front of it. When was the last time we ate? It wasn't last night, and I can't remember if we ate on the boat. I don't think we did. I frowned to myself sighing slightly, hopefully, we'd get something to eat soon; I feared my stomach would eat itself otherwise!
"Welcome!" The chief greeted without looking away from his pan. He wore chief whites with a big white chief hat, and held a pair of cooking chopsticks in his right hand, holding the wok pan with his left.
"Is the back room open?" Our navigator questioned, making the chief stop doing what he was doing. I stood between Kurapika and Gon as I looked closely at the man.
"What will you have?" He questioned us, looking at us from the corner of his eyes.
"The steak combo that opens your eyes to the light. For four." The navigator said, holding us four fingers. The chief glared at him, making me step behind my brother a little bit, and as instinct, hold the back of his tabard with my fingers.
"For four. How would you like them?" He questioned him, his voice darkening. That's what it sounded like to me anyway.
"Grilled over a low flame, until cooked." The navigator replied to him, the smirk never leaving his face. The chief went back to cooking, the glare lifting from his face as he closed his eyes and started moving his chopsticks once more to cook whatever it was he was cooking.
"Got it. Let yourself in to the back room." He said to us. We walked through the very quiet restaurant, with the Navigator in front, Leorio holding his brief case over his shoulder, Kurapika walking confidentially, be behind my brother holding onto his tabard tightly with my fingers walking not as confidentially and finally Gon, who sounded like he was busy looking around the restaurant.

We got to a small room with a rounded table and three chairs in the middle. I stayed behind my brother slightly, still holding onto his tabard as I looked around the room, fascinated. Although a question did arise, why were there only three chairs if there were four of us eating?
"Wait here." The navigator told us as we entered the room.
"Wait? Where are the others?" Leorio questioned him, turning to face him slightly.
"I can't wait for the steak combo." Gon said as I looked over and nodded my head in agreement.
"Neither can I, I'm really hungry!" I said, smiling widely at him as Gon nodded his head agreeing with me.
"Mishka, Gon, that was just a password for us to get in." My brother said, stepping forward away from my grasp. I let my hand drop to my side and furrowed my brows at what he said. He sat on one of the chairs afterwards. I guess even my brother gets tired from time to time.
"Oh, we don't get to eat." Gon said, turning his head slightly as I sighed.
"I was really looking forward to it too…" I said quietly, looking away slightly myself.
"One in every ten thousand… The number of applicants who make it this far. You've done extremely well for first-timers. Well, good luck." He said, closing his eyes and giving us a small smile. Gon held out his hand for him to shake.
"Thanks!" Gon said to him, taking the navigator back by surprise. He shook his hand once he got over his shock, giving Gon a smile.
"I would be happy to serve as your navigator next year, as well." He said to us. With that, our navigator left, closing the door loudly behind him. My brother had stood up once more, making me look at him oddly but I shook it off. Soon, mechanics started up making me look around to find the source of the sound.
"What?" All of us questioned as I stepped closer to my brother and grabbed the back of his tabard once more tightly, keeping myself firmly behind him as the room started moving down.
"It appears this room is an elevator." My brother said. Me and Gon looked up at the door to find a door indicator above it. The numbers kept going down.
"We're going down… " I said, trailing off as I stayed behind my brother.

Leorio has sulked off to one of the seats and slumped down into it whilst crossing his arms over his chest and closing his eyes as if annoyed at the world.
"Bastard… That means he expects us to fail this year." Leorio said, bringing us the conversation with our navigator from earlier.
"Once every three years." My brother said, moving away from me and taking a seat himself. I quickly took this chance and started moving my stuff from his bag into mine. I did so quickly, but kept everything folded. I checked everything I had, my spare dress, my wallet like purse, and some personal items should the need arise. I nodded my head and closed both my brothers bag and my own quickly.

Gon went over to the last seat and moved over slightly smiling over at me. I smiled back and sat on the space giving. The chair was only really designed for one person, so me and Gon had sat in a diagonal way where both our legs were over a corner of the chair. Our backs touched slightly. I was facing my brother as Gon was facing Leorio, so he turned his head to look at my brother. Both of us had our hands on our knees as we listened to Kurapika's explanation.
"The frequency with which a rookie passes the exam." He finished off making us look at him questionably.
"It's that unusual?" Gon asked him.
"Some cannot endure the exam's psychical and mental strain. It's also not unusual for veterans to break the rookies who consequently never retake the test." He said, looking at the both of us. I looked at him in shock before looking away slightly.
"I'm going to fail the actual test then…" I said quietly looking at the ground. I didn't have much psychical strength and I wouldn't say my mental strength was great either. Sure I was fit but that's as far as it went.
"So I guess candidates are willing to risk everything to become hunters." Gon said as I nodded my head agreeing to what he said. Soon a chair moved, making me snap my head up to look at the source of the sound to see Leorio had stood up and slammed his hands onto the table.
"But of course, my friend! Hunters make the most money in this world!" Leorio said with a huge smile on his face as he looked to the ceiling.
"No!" My brother retaliated, standing up himself and glared at Leorio. "Hunters are the most noble in this world." He continued, leaning forward on the table with his own hands on it. Soon, the two were face to face once more, fighting once more.
"Glory hog…"
"Money grabber…" The two retorted at each other. Me and Gon looked between the two guys, a questioning look on our face as we both looked at each other hoping one of us knew the answer. Of course, we didn't and instead looked more confused than we already were. Leorio stood close to Gon, his hands on the table making me and Gon snap our heads to look at him. Gon leaned more into my back to back away from the black haired man as I leaned forward to help him get away and to get away myself.
"Gon! Mishka! Listen… Every year, over fifty hunters make the list of the world's hundred richest people!" He said before being rolled away by my brother. Gon leaned forward as I straightened up, making us both look confused at him once more.
"Hunters are associated with hunting wild game and treasure, but they are all second-rate. True hunters work to protect people and the natural order." Kurapika said, making us look at him questionably. Leorio appeared near Gon once more, making him lean into my back again thus making me lean forward once more so that we could get away from him.
"Now, look here… Once you're a hunter, most countries will give you a free pass! And no charge to use public facilities. How are those benefits?" Leorio said, before being rolled away once more by my brother. Gon and myself sat up straight once more and looked at my brother as he began speaking once more.
"Hunters have difficult and important responsibilities, such as preserving cultural artifacts and endangered species, as well as capturing wanted criminals and unscrupulous Hunters." He said. Soon Leorio was back in Gon's personal space making him lean back and me forward.
"The fame and money… That's why people with to become hunters!" Leorio defended making us look at him confused. Leorio turned his head slightly to look at Kurapika.
"Profound knowledge, a healthy mind and body, and unyielding conviction… Those are the qualities on with Hunters pride themselves!" He said, leaning in close to Leorio himself. The two started glaring at each other as me and Gon once again sat up straight to look at them just as confused, if not more confused, than ever. Soon, both of the males turned their attention to us.
"Gon! Mishka! What do you think? Which kind of Hunter do you both hope to become?!" They both questioned as at the same time leaning in close to us making us both lean backwards, our backs touching even more as well as the back of our heads.
"Well, when you put it that way…" Gon began saying.
"I..er…I…uuhhh." I began saying, stuttering as the lift began stopping. The door behind us dinged as the two started moving away.
"I think we have arrived." Kurapika said to us without looking away. Although, it seemed like he was more looking at me, the stare he was giving was hard and it made me sink back into my seat a little bit. I think he wanted me to side with him, of course who could blame him; I was his little sister after all and like a good little sister I should always side with my big brother.
"We'll continue this later." Leorio said, continuing to look at us as I broke my eye contact with my brother and looked towards the door instead with Gon. We both couldn't help but sigh in relief as the two males stood up straight.

The doors to the lift opened to reveal a dark looking tunnel. It looked damp; however it felt oddly warm as well. That was the perfect conditions for damp things to grow! Looking inside I could see why it was warm, there were a lot of bodies, a hell of a lot of bodies. So many, many bodies. When we stepped out of the lift, they all began looking at us. I immediately took to the comfort of my brothers shadow and hide behind him, grabbing onto his tabard with both my hands tightly not daring to even as much as peak at them. Instead, I buried my forehead into my brothers back to stop myself from looking at any of the other candidates. We stopped a bit from the lift as Leorio began muttering to himself.
"Strange atmosphere down here." He muttered loud enough for us to hear.
"They clearly differ from the Hunter applicants we saw at the port and the city." Kurapika said, keeping his voice low as well. "Each is a master, in their own right…" he said quietly, this time more of a whisper. However because I was directly behind him I could hear what he said. I couldn't help but shake my head slightly as I felt my body shake.
"Excuse me…" Gon began saying before stopping. "Everyone's really tense." He finished off as the sound of shuffling footsteps could be heard. I took a deep breath and peaked out from behind my brothers' arm to see everybody had turned their backs on us to mingle among themselves once more.

Soon a little green man came and held something out to Leorio.
"Hello. Please take a number." He said holding things out to him. Whatever it was, it must have had a number on it, going by what the green bean like headed man said. Leorio bent down and took whatever it was he holding to him. Soon the man started walking over to us and held out two round disk like things with numbers on them.
"Here you go." He said to both me and Kurapika. My brother took them both and looked at them before handing one back to me. I took it shakily but politely as I nodded at my brother as thanks, trying to bring up a small smile but failing. The number on the front of mine said "407". He soon handed one to Gon as well.
"Be sure you wear this on your chest at all times. Be careful not to lose it." He said as he turned around and left. I watched as Gon pinned it to his chest, so I followed suit. I stood behind my brother as I pulled at my off the shoulder dress slightly and pinned the disk to the fabric. Letting go of the cloth the pin sat just a few inches off my collar bone. It pulled down that part of my dress making me frown.
"Big brother stand still for a moment OK? I just need to do something." I asked him as he looked at me with an eyebrow arched but nodded his head. I turned around so that my back was facing his back. Holding up my dress with one hand I slipped one arm out of the hand covering sleeve, then did the same with the other holding up the front part of my dress with my other hand. I pulled the sleeves behind me and tied a tight bow into the back. I smiled slightly to myself; my dress front was no longer slouching forward because of the pin. Plus, I felt somewhat cooler now.
"Ok I'm done." I said turning around but staying behind my brother as he looked back and nodded his head. I took the opportunity to quickly retie the ribbon in my hair that was holding back the long strands of hair that would otherwise been in my face. I kept the rest of my hair down still and once happy with what I had done I returned my hands to my brothers' tabard.

"Haven't seen you guys around before." A voice said making me and Gon turn our heads towards the sound. Sitting on top of the pipes was a rather round guy with a large square nose. He wore a blue tunic like stop with lighter blue long sleeved shirt. His hair was brown and stood up on end and his eyes were small. They looked too small for his head. He wore on his chest what looked like a number sixteen pin. He must have been waiting down here for ages!
"Yo." He said, smiling at us and raising a hand. Kurapika, Leorio and I walked closer to Gon to look at the man. I stood behind my brother once more, only peaking from behind his arm.
"You can tell we're new?" Gon asked him.
"More or less." He said, jumping down from his pipe perch and then walked towards us, smiling a big smile. "After all, this will be my thirty-fifth attempt." He said casually to us, as if it was something that happened quite frequently here. We all looked at him taken back by what he said.
"Thirty-five times?!" We all questioned him in shock. The hunter exams, if he's taken them thirty-five times then they must be hard. I couldn't help but imagine in my head how hard the exams would be and frowned at my conclusion.
"I'm going to be doing it that many times too." I said to myself, furrowing my brows and frowning to myself. I'd never be able to help my brother at that rate, not one bit.
"Well, you could say I'm an exam veteran." He said, bragging about this "accomplishment." I looked at him questionably; why does he seem so happy about that? I would be feeling sorry for myself and wouldn't be able to show my face at all! But this man, he, he just seems so happy to have that self-proclaimed title.
"That isn't something to brag about." Leorio muttered to my brother as I picked up on the words. I couldn't help but giggle slightly at what he said and brought my head down a little bit to laugh to myself.
"Indeed." My brother said agreeing with him as I nodded my head, still giggling ever so slightly to myself. It was probably nerves taking over, but I couldn't help it; it made me feel calmer.
"If you have any questions, feel free to ask me." He said to Gon cheerfully.
"Thank you." Gon replied back to him, that smile of his never leaving his face.

The man held out his hand, his closed eyed smile never leaving his face once.
"My name is Tonpa." He said as Gon took his hand.
"I'm Gon." He said shaking his hand with his. He let go and turned his body slightly so that all of us were in view. I couldn't help but step back behind my brother slightly a bit more. Only my forehead and my eyes became visible from my protective barrier called my brother's back and arm. I kept a tight grip with my fingers on his sleeve and tabard.
"These are Kurpika, Leorio and Mishka." He said looking at us slightly. My brother and Leorio gave him a nod as I watched him carefully from behind my brother. I couldn't bring myself to nod at the man.

Gon turned back to Tonpa, smiling up at him as his hands returned to his backpack handles.
"Hey, are there others who have taken the exam a bunch of times like you?" Gon asked him. He was so forward with the question, no holding back, no trying to tip toe around it just straight out there with it.
"Well, I have the most experience here, but there are a few others." He said smiling at Gon once more and then turning slightly to look at everyone who was inside the damp but warm tunnel.
"For instance, there's him…" He said, pointing to a guy with the number 255 on his chest. He was a large guy with a dark blue shirt. He held a box of what could be something deep fried in his hand. His hair was cut short on the side of his head with the top of his head being much longer and tied into a pony tail.
"Number 255, Todo the Wrestler. He's unmatched in strength. And he's smarter than he looks." He said as he looked towards another guy. This man wore a grey turban with grey robes and purple scarf like thing around his neck. His eyes were closed and he was sitting on the ground.
"On the other side, we have number 103, Bourbon the snake charmer." Tonpa said. I couldn't help but have an image come up in my head of a chocolate bourbon biscuit with a flute charming snakes from a basket. I giggled slightly to myself and closed my eyes tightly shaking my head to get the image out. Now was not the time. I looked back at him once I regained my composer and bit my button lip slightly to try and keep myself from laughing.
"He tends to hold grudges, so you don't want to end up on his bad side." Tonpa continued making me stop my inward giggling at once and instead retreat back to my brothers back. Better keep that image to myself.
"And then… number 191, Bodoro, the Kung Fu master." Tonpa said turning a guy who looked quite elderly. He wore a dark greyish blue vest top with a long greyish white sleeved top underneath. He seemed quite wise. He had a moustache and his hair was tied into a high pony tail. Maybe I should tie my hair into a pony tail? I mean, it would get cut otherwise and I don't know how to neaten it otherwise…
"He's getting old, but there still isn't a better martial artist around." Tonpa said turning to some more people. This time it was a group of three. The middle one had wide eyes, a blue and white puffy hat and blue turtle neck top. One of the boys had an orange beanie, and a maroon long sleeved top and the other guy had a blue and white baseball cap and stripped greenish yellow long sleeved top. He looked the most serious out of all three of them.
"Then you have the three brothers, Amori, Imori and Umori. They perform consistently well, thanks to their excellent teamwork." He said before looking over to another guy who looked like he was cleaning out a beehive. He had very dark brown skin, red vest top with yellow trim and white ruffles around the neck and a blue long sleeved top.
"And number 384, Gerreta, the huntsman. He specializes in killing all manner of creatures, by blow dart and club." He said making shivers run up my spin as I stepped behind Kurapika some more. That didn't sound like someone I wanted to get angry.
"There are many more, but they have taken the test the most times." Tonpa finished as me and Gon looked at him in amazement.
"Ah…" Gon said in reply in pure amazement.

A guy walked past us. He wore a bright purple cape and had blond hair. It looked like he wore shoulder guards. My eyes followed him as he bumped into a guy who had a red diamond and heart on his back; as if he was a pack of cards. He had red fiery hair that stood up on end. I looked at him questionably. He didn't seem to take any notice of the guy that bumped into him so I took my eyes away from him looking back at Tonpa wondering if he was going to say anything else. Tonpa began speaking to us however we were interrupted with a scream. We all turned our heads to where it came from and my eyes went wide in fear. Red clubs fell to the ground as the man with the cape arms started vanishing into thin air. I couldn't help but step behind my brother fully and bury my head into his tabard; I didn't want to watch anymore, I couldn't watch anymore. I looked painful! At least, it sounded painful.
"Oh, how peculiar… His arms seem to have become flower petals. No smoke or mirrors here. Do take care. When you bump into someone, you really should apologise." He said as Gons breath caught in his throat. I peeked out a little bit from behind my brother to see that man with a wide, sadistic like smirk on his face.
"That psychopath is back again." Tonpa said as both I and Gon looked at him, Gon with more curiosity and me with more fear.
"Again?" Gon questioned him.
"Does that mean he took last year's exam?" my brother questioned Tonpa as I looked between the two, the instinct of gripping tightly onto my brother's tabard kicking in.
"Number 44. Hisoka, the magician. Last year he was a virtual lock to pass the test, until he all but killed an examiner he didn't like." Tonpa said with a serious expression. Shivers went up my spin once more as I frowned widely and peeked at Hisoka, who was walking away with that same sadistic smirk.
"A-And they're still allowing him to retake the exam this year?" Leorio said, voicing my own thoughts.
"That doesn't seem very smart…." I muttered to myself as Gon nodded his head in agreement with me.
"Of course. Every year, the examiners and test content changes, and the examiners are the ones who choose the new content. The devil himself could pass if that were the examiners determination. That's just how the hunter exam works. Anyway, no one likes him. You should stay away too." Tonpa said as we watched his back retreat back through the parted crowd. It wasn't difficult to see why no one liked him, he just removed that guys arms because he bumped into him and didn't say sorry! I dreaded to think what he would do should someone run full blow into him.
"He looks dangerous. That much is for sure." Leorio said as I nodded in agreement. Kurapika turned his head slightly and looked at me sternly.
"Stay away from him, if you get cornered then run, do not take him on, Mishka." Kurapika said to me as I nodded my head quickly. He didn't need to tell me twice, it would be a death wish to take him on.

Tonpa soon looked surprised and looked back at us.
"Oh, right…" He said and began digging through his back. I took this opportunity and stepped out from behind my brother to watch what Tonpa was doing. I stood in between Gon and my brother, which seemed to have become my favourite spot.
"A little something to mark our acquaintance. How about it?" He said, taking out cans of orange drink. I couldn't tell if it was fizzy or just juice by looking at the can, but doing so made me remember how thirsty I was and I couldn't help but nod my head quickly.
"Oh, appreciated." Leorio said cheerfully. "As it happened, I was thirsty." Leorio said taking the can from Tonpa. He dug through his bag once more and took out two more handing them to me and Gon and then handed a last one to Kurapika. I took the can thankfully.
"Thank you." I said to him smiling widely.
"Thanks!" Gon said to him shortly after me.
"Thank you." My brother replied lastly.
"Best of luck to all of us!" He said cheerfully holding out his can. We all clapped the cans together and opened them.

I took a sip of mine at the same time Gon did and widened my eyes. Gon had opened his mouth to let the juice spill from it. I turned around with the juice still in my mouth and walked away from the group slightly before spitting the juice out and shaking my head.
"Bitter." I said to myself more than anyone else and walked back to the group once more.
"Tonpa, this juice must have expired. It tastes funny." Gon said as I nodded my head agreeing with him furrowing my brows.
"It tastes bitter to me." I said to him smiling at him apologetically with furrowed brows. Leorio spat his juice out there and began glaring at the chunky man.
"Seriously? That was close!" He said wiping his mouth with his jacket sleeve.
"H-Huh? That's strange…" Tonpa said scratching the back of his head with his hand. Kurapika began tipping the juice away onto the floor as Gon looked through the can hole. I did the same as my brother, there wasn't much we could do with opened, expired juice. Tonpa clapped his hands together and bowed slightly.
"I'm very sorry! I didn't realize the juice had gone bad." He said to us in a very apologetic tone of voice.
"It's okay. You don't have to apologize." Gon said to him as I nodded my head in agreement.
"Everybody makes mistakes, Tonpa, it's OK." I said to him, furrowing my brows and smiling at him, hoping he'd accept that I and Gon didn't think he had to apologize.
"Is your stomach okay?" Gon asked him after I finished speaking. Tonpa at this point was on his knees with his hands clapped together. He looked up when Gon spoke to him.
"Y-Yes…I'm fine." He said to us. It made me wonder though; if Tonpa has been drinking this stuff and his stomach is fine then maybe he has an iron stomach…I'd love one of those that sounds amazing.
"I've sampled all kinds of mountain grasses and plants. So I can usually taste when something's bad. How did you know, Mishka?" Gon explained and turned his head to me after his explanation. I looked at him questionably before looking up at the ceiling slightly to think to myself.
"I'm just really sensitive to bitter or sweet foods so I don't eat them often." I said to him, looking back at Gon and smiling widely, clapping my hands together behind my back. I could feel the bow like knot press slightly into my back from tying the sleeves together.
"R-Really? That's amazing…" Tonpa said to us, furrowing his brows as he scratched the back of his head. He got up from the ground after apologizing to us.
"Sorry about that again. I'll see you around." He said to us, turning around to walk away.
"Talkative old man…" Leorio commented as Tonpa left us. I smiled to myself at his comment and hunched my shoulders slightly as I giggled a little bit and fiddled with my fingers behind my back. It was certainly a lot cooler now.

We all heard something making a strange noise What exactly is that? I stood next to Gon and Kurapika as the thing was making this strange noise. Then the sound stopped. Soon a giant door started to open. I could feel the sudden gust of cold air; it made a chill run up my spin and made me shiver. I began feeling cold, but I didn't want to put the sleeve of my dress on probably because then the front of my dress would tilt forward from the badge. Guess I'd have to stay cold. It showed even more of the tunnel, but because there was no bodies but one it made it feel colder. The only person that stood there was a man in a blue suit holding the strange bell. He had a really long moustache.
"I apologize for the wait. The entry period for the Hunter applicants has ended. The Hunter exam will now begin!" The man shouted throughout the hall. We all got ready. Gon tightened his grip on his back pack straps as I straightened up, trying my best to hold in my excitement. It felt like my stomach would explode; so light and fluttery. I was actually here, taking the exam!
"A final caution. If you are short on luck or ability, you could very well end up seriously injured or even dead." He said to us making my face drop and that light, fluttery feeling in my stomach turn into a sick and heavy one. Die? I didn't want to die…but I wanted…no… I needed to take this exam. I needed to become a hunter; I needed to for my brother…for my brother.
"Those who accept the risks, please follow me. Otherwise, please exit via the elevator behind you." He said as he pointed to the elevator. I swallowed the lump in my throat. I felt so nervous, I felt like I could have been sick at any moment. Maybe I should turn back…maybe that was for the best. My feet refused to do so though, no I can't turn back I have to become a hunter like my brother wants and do this! I want to become a hunter. I swallowed once again and looked forward with a determined look on my face.
"Very well. All 408 applicants will participate in phase one." He said as he turned around and began walking forward, doing a very odd walk; as if marching. But he wasn't marching, it was strange. We all began following the man. I stood beside Gon and Kurapika as I looked around. Me and Gon seemed like the only kids here. Leorio looked around himself.
"Of course, no one turned around the left. I hoped a few might withdraw." He said making me look at him questionably.
"Why's that Leorio?" I asked him as he looked back at me.
"Well for your sack of course, you're the smallest one here." He said back to me, smirking slightly. I glared the best I could at him and puffed out my cheeks. All he did was poke the side of my cheek making me breathe out the air from them; I continued to glare at him though.

The man in the blue suit started getting faster, but his walking style stayed the same. Outs however turned into a jog, and then a full blown run.
"W-what?" Leorio asked as we ran after the man.
"The people in front started running." Gon said as I tried jumping up every now and again to see what was happening.
"He's picked up the pace." My brother said, as he kept a hold of his bag whilst running. I stopped my jumping and did the same, I didn't want to lose anything my spare clothes and new weapons were inside there! It'd be embarrassing losing my spare clothes.
"I neglected to introduce myself. I am Satotz, the phase one examiner. I shall lead you to the exam's second phase." He said as he continued his odd marching.
"Second phase? What about phase one?" Someone asked him in question. So there was more than one phase…I should have known better.
"It has already commenced." Satotz said making me gasp slightly. So the running was Phase one? I didn't like running, I wasn't very good at it. I was always slow.
"It's already begun? This is part of the test?" Many people began questioning as I looked at him oddly, keeping one hand on my bag tightly.
"You must follow me to phase two. This is the exam's first phase." He said, turning his head to look at us. I looked at my brother questionably as we continued running.
"I think there's more too it." I said to him quietly so that my words were only heard by him. Kurapika looked down at me and nodded his head agreeing, making me smile widely knowing I got something right. Still…running of all things!
"I cannot tell you where or when you must arrive. You need to follow me." Satotz said to us, exaggerating the point of us following him. At least it was clear, we had to follow him otherwise we might fail and I didn't want to fail so following this complete stranger was the best thing to do.
"I see how it is." Kurapika said.
"This test is weird." Gon said in return.
"I expect it's an endurance test. Fine by me. I'll be right behind you." Leorio commented as well, a large smirk across his face.
"I've got a stitch." I said quietly keeping up with them as I furrowed my brows. The left side of my body hurt, it felt like I really pulled my muscle, hard whilst being stabbed in the side. If I knew we were running I would have warmed up first.
