Chapter 309
Kate Lockley stood watch in Snyder's hospital room. He still hadn't woken up, she feared he wouldn't. It was Sunday morning. She had saved him from the hooded men on Friday night. Those lunatics tried to murder him, she killed both of them. They had evidently torn out their own eyes. Kate was curious, but doubted that Snyder could explain that to her. Finally Snyder woke up. After being checked out by doctors Snyder told Kate what had happenned.
Snyder: A friend of mine said he had information, about a kidnapping conspiracy.
Kate: Why would he tell you?
Snyder: Because I'm vice-principal, I can monitor things at the school. Also because of my connections with MOO I was more likely to believe this.
Kate: What does kidnapping have to do with the occult?
Snyder: Believe it or not the perpetrators are devil-worshipers. They kidnap children, train them in Satanism. Many don't survive. This is their way of passing Satanism on to the next generation. This friend tried to give me the intel, that's when I was attacked.

Kate considered Snyder's testimony. He seemed lucid, rational. She didn't neccessarily believe in a literal devil, but he did believe in lunatics. And if there was any chance of a kidnapping conspiracy that murdered children, she would investigate. Kate knew she had made mistakes recntly, but she couldn't turn her back on children in danger.
