I hope you enjoy thank you.
Anastasia's POV:
I am in the car on my way to Vancouver. Luke is driving and I am in the front seat next to him and Gail is in the back seat. We are trying to stay strong for each others' sake, but the car is so unbelievably tense. It is obvious how worried all of us are. We are close to the exit for Castle Rock and traffic is pretty slow. I can see sirens up a head so there must have been an accident. What if it's Christian? I'm sure it's nothing. I'm sure it's nothing. I repeat this as my panic level rises. Once we get close the accident looks way worse than I thought. It looks like a car broke the safety rail and rolled down the small hill.
"Sawyer you should pull over so I can ask what happened?" He quickly pulls to the right and stops the car. I unbuckle my seat belt and jump out of the car.
"Excuse me, ma'am, but I'm going to need you to get back in the car."
"I need to know who was in this car."
"I can't tell you that ma'am."
"Stop calling me ma'am!" I shout at him. "Was it a black Audi Q7 licence plate 1PL 006?" He gives me an apologetic look and I fall to the ground and my hand flies in front of my mouth in an attempt to prevent the sob that escapes me.
"Are they alive?"
"Yes ma'am."
"What hospital?"
"Peachealth St John's Medical Centre" Luke helps me to my feet and back into the car. Once I'm buckled in, Luke climbs into the driver's seat and pulls away. Thankfully, he overheard the police officer which hospital. I don't think I could speak right now. My whole body has gone numb slowly, everything seems to melt away. I am stuck inside my head. Why wouldn't they tell me how they were? What if they are severely injured or worse? I am brought back when Gail places her hand on my shoulder.
"Ana, we're here." I look around and notice we are right outside the emergency room. Gail and I get out a Luke goes to park the car. We walk through the automatic doors and rush towards the front desk.
"I am looking for two people. Christian Grey and Jason Taylor. They were in a car accident on the interstate five."
"They have gone into surgery."
"Are they alright?"
"I don't have any information. You'll have to wait for the doctor." Frustrated, I turn around and see Luke entering the building. He greets us nervously and Gail explains what's going on. We take a seat and begin the waiting game. There is a young woman sitting to the left of us on her call phone texting. There is an elderly man on the right of us staring out the window you can feel the worry and sadness radiating off him. Across from us is a young mother watching her child run around in frustration. Hospitals are quite possibly one of the worst places to be. The sterile clean smell reminds you of death and the florescent lights reflecting of the cold tile give you a headache.
"I'm going to call Christian's family."
"Alright." I head out outside and since we've arrived it has started raining. I find a little bit of shelter from the rain, but not much. I hesitate for a couple minutes before I find the courage to dial Grace's number.
"Ana, darling, to what do I owe the pleasure?" She greets me and tears start falling again. "What's wrong?"
"It's Christian he's been in an accident."
"Oh no." She gasps. "Where are you now?"
"Peachealth St John's Medical Centre."
"Alright. Carrick and I are coming. Don't worry, darling, everything is going to be fine. Have you called the others?"
"Not yet, but I will."
"Stay calm, darling, we'll be there soon." How does she do it? How does she stay so calm when he son in danger?
"Thank you, Grace." With that she hangs up and I call Mia and tell her what's happened and she tells me she's on her way. I call Kate and let her tell Elliot before calling Ray and letting him know about Christian and Taylor. In an hour, everyone should be here. I just hope I have something good to tell them. I look over at Gail and Luke and walk in the other direction towards the cafeteria. I couldn't possibly eat right now, but I hope they have some tea. I know Gail doesn't drink caffeine after noon so I get her some hot water and all the herbal tea they have a long with a hot chocolate. I grab three muffins just in case and a coffee for Luke. As I'm paying, I notice a woman sitting all alone. I slowly walk over to her debating if I should say hi or not.
"Hi my name is Anastasia Steele." I offer her coffee, tea or hot chocolate and one of the muffins. She looks up at me with a smile, but you can see the pain in her eyes.
"Thank you" She says taking the hot chocolate and a blueberry muffin. "My name is Katherine Harris."
"I thought you could use some cheering up."
"Are you part of some volunteer program at the hospital?" She sounds almost annoyed.
"Just waiting on some news about my fiancé and saw that you were rather upset. I can leave if you want me to."
"No, it's fine I'm just really stressed."
"You can talk to me if you want. It might help."
"Thanks. My daughter has cancer and she's in surgery right now. She's has a brain tumour. She saved my life the day she was born and I can't imagine life without her."
"I'm sorry to hear about that, but all you can do is hope for the best. I know when things seem dark, it's hard to see the light."
"Thank you."
"So how old is she?"
"Eight."
"I bet she's beautiful. What's her name?"
"Madison." She pulls out her phone and shows me pictures of her. She is absolutely beautiful. In all the pictures she has of her she's smiling. Even when she's in the hospital getting treatment, she has a smile on her face. "So what happened to your fiancé?"
"He and his security guard who happens to be a family friend were in a car accident. Well I don't think it was an accident. They were run off the road by someone and I haven't gotten any news about how they are. They were already in surgery once I arrived."
"Oh my god that's awful."
"I'm just so worried about the both of them." A young woman dressed in scrubs walks over to us.
"Ms. Harris?"
"I should go." I pick up my things, but she stops me.
"Please stay." I sit back down and grab her hand.
"The surgery went great. We were able to get the tumour out and she's being taken to the ICU right now." She bursts into tears and starts hugging the doctor.
"Thank you." She says directed at me and I grab my things and head back to the waiting room. I give them their drinks and muffins and grab my purse and take out my headphones. I sit off on my own and play one of the playlists Christian made me and think about the first time I saw him. If you said to me then that nine months later I'd be engaged to this man, I'd say you were crazy. If you told me today I could never see him again, I wouldn't know what to do. I do something for the first time in what seems like forever. I pray.
Dear God,
These are two of the most fantastic people I have ever been fortunate to meet. Please watch over them and protect them in their time of need. I know I can't just come back to you after all these years and ask for your help, but I have nowhere else to turn. I need your help. Please let them be okay. Please let them live.
Amen.
I bring my knees into my chest as I continue listening to music. I try my best not to cry, but it's no use. Soon, my body is shaking from the horrible sobs coming from me. After a while, my chest starts to hurt from the dry wrenching sobs. My eyes don't stray from my knees. I don't care who's looking at me or who sees. I need to cry. The dry wrenching sobs continue long after the tears have stopped. When I calm down, I look and Kate is sitting on the left of my and Grace on the right. I give them both a smile before walking over to Luke.
"Luke, do you have a copy of the note?"
"Yes why?"
"Well if this person wants me there is a good chance they know me. If they know me, I know them. I'm just hoping I can recognize the hand writing."
"I don't know why we didn't think about that earlier." He pulls out his phone and flips through some photos before handing it to me. It is obvious that the person is a woman by the way she writes. What I find strange is the person signed their initials. The writing is definitely familiar I just can't figure out who. I read the letter over and over until it hits me. Lacy Holden. No, Lacy would never do that. She has been acting rather hostile since the engagement.
"Do you remember if Lacy was in the office today?"
"I don't think I saw her. Why do you ask?" I pull out my phone and find the picture of the doodles Lacy and I did one day at lunch.
"Does the writing look familiar." I show him the picture and he compares it to the note.
"It's identical."
"Well it's Lacy's handwriting. Also the initials. LH her full name is Lacy Holden."
"This isn't good. I want you to send that picture to Welch so he can compare the writing. I'm also going to call him and have someone follow her."
"I'm going to kill her."
"Not if I get to her first."
"Well I hope I'm wrong on this one Luke."
"Me too. Try not to let her know were on to her." That's not going to be easy. "Are you feeling any better?"
"Not at all." He opens his arms and wraps them around me.
"I know I'm worried about them too." We pull apart when we hear someone clear there throat behind us.
"Guys, it looks like the paparazzi have caught wind of the accident and are waiting just outside the emergency room doors."
"Fucking vultures." I mutter quietly.
"I know, Ana. I think you're going to have to do a press statement explaining the statement. It usually works for Christian."
"We don't know what happened, Carrick."
"Well you can simply explain there was an accident and we are waiting for news."
"Alright, I'll do it just let me clean up a little bit." I head into the washroom and look at myself in the mirror. Wow I look like shit. My eyes are rimmed red and are puffy. I have red splotches on my cheeks and my eyes are extremely bloodshot. I don't even know how to fix this. I splash some cold water on my face and put on a little mascara and lip gloss. The red on my cheeks is gone, but it is still extremely obvious that I've been crying. Carrick is waiting outside the washroom for me and gives me some words of encouragement before I step outside into the rain. The camera flashes are almost blinding and everyone is shouting at me.
"Everyone settle down please." I shout as loud as I can and the crowd goes silent. "Thank you. As many of you know Christian Grey and his head of security were in a car accident on their way to visit WSU. We don't have much information at the moment since we have not heard anything from the doctors or police. It would be greatly appreciated if you could all give Christian's family and I some space to wait this out. I promise you'll know more information when we do." I walk back inside and Carrick gives me thumbs up. I look over at one of the TV's which shows a reporter talking about my statement. I glare at it in frustration before asking the nurse to change the channel. Everyone greets my father as he walks through the doors.
"Annie, baby, I'm so sorry you must be worried sick about Christian."
"I'm worried about both of them, Dad."
"I know, sweetie, but everything is going to be alright." Everyone keeps telling me that, but how come I don't believe them. Nothing seems like it's going to be okay. I'm thankful that the last thing I said to him was I love you, but what if it's the last thing I ever say to him? Christian please be okay. Both of them have been in surgery for a long time. Every time I see a doctor I practically jump out of my seat hoping for information. Ivy is here and falling asleep in Grace's arms. I tell Luke to get the blanket I put in the back of the car so she can be somewhat comfortable. When he comes back I offer to take her from Grace and I sit down and hold her as she sleeps. Poor Ivy I wonder if she has any idea what's going on. We've been here for three hours now and still haven't heard anything how is that possible?
Christian would have been on his way around ten after he stopped by the office and the drive is about two hours, but the spot of the accident was only an hour into the drive so it must have happened around just after eleven and we didn't arrive until after one. Five hours since the accident and nothing. I didn't eat anything for lunch and I'm starting to get hungry.
"Does anybody want anything from the cafeteria?" I ask and it's a mix between tea coffee and hot chocolate. I have Ivy back to Grace and Kate joins me.
"I don't know how you're so calm." Kate says once we're away from the group.
"Trust me, Kate, I'm not."
"Well you could have fooled me. I'm sorry that this happened Ana."
"I know, but it happened and we can't change it."
"I know." I grab some jell-o and fruit cups along with the drinks. I get a turkey and cheese sandwich as well. Hospital food is disgusting, but the sandwich doesn't look half bad. I pay and Kate helps me carry everything back. I hand out the drinks before handing out a fruit cup or jell-o to everyone. Carrick and Grace both decide on fruit, but Ivy wants the jell-o. Kate, Elliot and Mia take fruit and my father Luke and Elliot take jell-o and I place the extras on a nearby table and eat my sandwich. Ivy is now wide awake and it starting to get antsy and I can tell Grace is getting frustrated. The poor woman must be so worried.
"Ivy, do you want to go for a walk?" She smiles and nods before putting on her jacket and I do the same. Grace turns to me and mouths 'Thank You'. I give her a smile before taking Ivy's hand. I decide it's best to use a different exit since the paparazzi are still out there. Near the pediatrics ward I notice a play ground outside. It's wet, but it has stopped raining so I take Ivy to go run around for a bit. Sit on a bench as she runs around and around climbing over things and under them. Oh how wonderful it would be to be that carefree right now. I pull out my phone and open the pictures app. The first photo is one Christian must have take of me this morning while I was asleep. There are some pictures of us on new years and Christmas. There are pictures I took of Christian while he was asleep. All of these photos are beautiful I want to get theses printed and put them up at Escala. It will be the first thing I do when Christian gets better.
"Ivy, lets go back inside." I shout and she comes running towards me. She grabs my hand and we walk back to the waiting room where I see a doctor talking to the Greys. I run over to them and listen in.
"Both Mr. Grey and Mr. Taylor are fine and expect to make a quick recovery. Mr. Taylor has suffered a bad concussion a broken wrist, two broken ribs, and some bruising around the ribs. There was some internal bleeding, but we got that under control. He had massive blood loss when he came in, but he should be out of here by the time the week is done. As for Mr. Grey, he had some pretty bad gashes that needed stitches. A minor concussion and several breaks in his ankle, which needed surgery. He should be out of here by the end of the week as well. They will both have casts for six to eight weeks, but everything should heal properly."
"Thank you." I say and everyone couldn't be happier. A huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
"When can we see them?"
"You can see Mr. Grey now, but I only suggest one person visits Mr. Taylor because his surgery was more invasive and he won't be move out of the ICU until tomorrow."
"Again thank you." He smiles before walking away.
"Gail, you can be the one to visit Jason." I tell her and she makes her way to the ICU. I decide to see Christian last so I can spend the most time with him. It is more then and an hour later when it is finally my turn to see him.
"Luke, can you find a hotel and make reservations for all of us? I'll give you a call when I want to be picked up."
"Sure thing." I say goodbye to everyone before heading off to Christian's room. He's laying back in bed with his ankle just a dressing on his ankle. They probably have to let the incision heal before they put a cast on. I pull one of the chairs right next to his bed and place my hand on his. His face is bruised and there is a small gash on his left cheek. I examine his arms and see that there are more scrapes. Some of which needed stitches and some that didn't. He has some more bruising on his body, but it's not as bad as I thought. I sit and watch Christian's chest as he breathes. I guess it's a way for me to confirm that he is really alive. Everything is going to be alright. I put my phone on silent and place my head on the bed beside Christian and fall asleep.
I promise everything will be okay.
