Chapter 313
Holland asked to see Lindsay late Sunday night. Lindsay's loyalties had been unclear lately. Because he was valuable Holland had tolerated this, but no more. Things were changing, lindsay had to make a choice now.
Lindsay: You wanted to see me sir?
Holland: Yes. First off, good work with finding books on the priest of the flesh and the priestess of the blood.
Lindsay: I am curious as to what they meant, O couldn't translate them.
Holland: We have guys for that. Anyway, you handled the Russell Winters matter as best you could, protected company assets and personnel. But you betrayed us and Jacob Crane.
Lindsay: I'm sorry sir. The thought of cannibalism, I panicked.
Holland: I'd like to see you avance in this firm, I really would. I'm recommending you for membership in the Circle of the Black Thorne.
Lindsay: Wow. I'm honored sir.
Holland: I could use another ally in the circle. Wilkins is too powerful, Dracula has his own council. Thanks to you and the books, I'll have a very valuable ally. You should be able to reap in the benefits. But joining the circle requires a commitment, we can't have any of your divided loyalties.
Lindsay: What do you need?
Holland: Murder Eve. She's no longer valuable to Wolfram and Hart. Kill her, and all the kingdoms of the earth will be yours one day.
Lindsay: You really want me to murder an innocent woman? I just don't want any confusion?
Holland: Yes. I want you to murder Eve personally.
.
Lindsay then took out his cellphone. Holland looked a bit worried at seeing it had been on the entire time, but remained calm.
.
Lindsay: This has been recording the whole time. A friend has been listening to the conversation. Anything happens to Eve, or myself, it goes to the police. The evidence will speak for itself.
Holland: Do you really think the circle can't protect me from one or two murder charges?
Lindsay: They can, I doubt they will. You just said you're in need of allies. The Senior partners will likely consider you a liability and cut their losses. Leave us alone, you won't find out. One more thing, I quit.
