I…I'm at the Final Phase. Me! I didn't think I would ever get here. I had a lot of help getting here though; Gon, Killua, Kurapika and Leorio all had to help me in the entire exam for me to get here. The only one where I didn't have their help was when I was grouped with Kai in Trick Tower. It's sad really; the only way I could get here was with help.

I have to change that.

I had fallen asleep pretty easily last night. I literally laid down and was out like a light. I didn't even have the energy to take off my dress tabard and ended up sleeping in it. The bed was really comfortable and I guess I was more tired than I had originally thought. The rooms were single bedrooms, with very few double rooms. Most of the people had chosen all the single rooms leaving the double rooms. Leorio had even chosen a single room himself, I guess there's only so much of people he could take. In the end, Gon and Killua had shared a room and me and my brother shared a room. Not that we minded, I don't think so anyway. We room shared a lot when we were travelling and if we found somewhere cheap to stay once we started doing odd jobs for money.

The next day had quickly come and much to my surprise I was up before my brother. My stomach was so light and it felt like there were butterflies inside it. Today was the Final Phase of the exam, the final test that would decide if we could be Hunters. I was nervous, really nervous, what if I messed up and couldn't be a Hunter? I would have to try again next year on my own and everybody else, Kurapika, Gon, Killua and Leorio would all be Hunters. I couldn't help my brother if I didn't pass, so I had to pass today. I took the opportunity to have a quick shower as I felt really gross not being able to have a wash over the last week. Quietly hopping off my bed I walked over to our bags and rummaged through mine. I took out a clean, none-damaged long sleeved white shirt, a pair of clean training shorts and a pair of underwear. I quickly took off my dress tabard and looked carefully at the front. There was a very small hole where I had been hit with that guys pin. It wasn't noticeable, not unless you got really close and knew exactly where you were looking. It wasn't big enough for me to rummage through my brothers bag for some needle and thread, so I left it. Luckily my other dress and dried out as well, but I decided to leave it in my bag and if needs came to musts then I'd wear that instead. Standing up with some clean clothes at hand I walked over to the side of my bed again and quickly slipped on my shoes then walked out of our room quietly and went to find the bathroom.

I managed to find the bathroom quickly and knocked to make sure no one else was in there. When I didn't hear an answer I walked in. The bathroom was huge; it had white walls and a white floor. Everything was white, in the middle of the room sat a single drain. It was more like a wet room more than anything. I closed the door behind me and locked it. Walked over to the bathroom counter I placed my clean clothes on top of it and stripped down. I turned on the shower and instantly walked in, only to jump out again with my arms around me and shivered slightly.
"Why is it so cold?!" I asked myself and shook my head to get the water out of my hair. I sat onto my legs on the floor and waited for the water to heat up. After about ten minutes it was hot enough to use and I quickly jumped in. It was relaxing and I couldn't help but smile widely to myself. It felt good, more so on the part of my body that had been injured recently. It was soothing and for the first time in a long time I was so grateful for the little things like this that made up normal day to day life. I spent about half an hour getting myself clean. After I jumped out of the shower I quickly dried myself off and put on my clean clothes. I could hear rummaging outside and could only assume everybody else was now waking up. Once dressed I unlocked the bathroom door and exited the bathroom with my dirty clothes in hand and quickly made my way back to the room.

The airship landed and everybody began piling off. The place we landed was huge! The roofs of the buildings were round and yellow, whilst the rest of the place was a stone colour. There were so many different buildings. We followed the examiners and Chairman Netero into one of the largest buildings there. Chairman Netero stood in front of us, ten men in black suits stood to his left and the examiners stood to his right. I stood next to my brother and Killua as we all stared at Chairman Netero, waiting to hear what the Final Phase would be.
"Welcome gentlemen and lady. Did you get plenty of rest? This hotel is owned by the Hunter Exam Selection Committee. The place is all yours until the battles have concluded." He explained to us, watching us all. I heard wheeling and looked from the corner of my eyes where it was coming from. Another man in a black suit rolled out something that was covered in a white sheet. I quickly turned my head back to Chairman Netero.
"For the Final Phase, we will be holding a one-on-one tournament." Chairman Netero said to us. He grabbed a hold of the sheet and pulled it off revealing a board. There was something that looked like plastic covering something at the bottom. It looked like some sort of tree.
"So only the last person standing passes?" Leorio asked Chairman Netero quietly. I furrowed my brows, if that was the case then there was no way I would become a Hunter. My brother would and all the rest of us would have to do the exam next year.
"No." The Chairman said, making me exhale and unstiffen. That was good to hear; but then how does it work?

The Chairman held one finger in front of his face.
"One win is all you need to pass." He said. I shuffled on my feet slightly and fiddled with the sleeve of my shirt. If we only needed one win…maybe I could do it? No that was impossible, when Kai got me one day ago it was my brother that had to come and save me. There was no way I could win.
"One win?" Gon asked sounding confused and slightly surprised by the Chairman's words.
"Then, in this tournament…" Leorio said and trailed off as if trying to think of what to say next. Chairman Netero placed his hands behind his back once more and watched us.
"The winners are removed from competition, while the losers continue up the bracket. In other words, the person who finishes at the top will not pass. Does everyone understand now?" Chairman Netero said to us and tapped his finger on the board showing where the top of the tree was. I nodded my head slightly, understand exactly what he meant. My stomach felt heavy, I knew I was going to be the one on the top of that bracket, and there was no denying that. I shuffled once more out of nervous ness and couldn't help but fiddle more with my shirt sleeve. I was doomed.
"So you're saying that only one person will fail." The bald man who was a ninja asked Chairman Netero.
"Exactly." He said to us, letting only silence enter the room.

We all stared at the board as the silence entered everybody's ears. Only one win and we became a Hunter. I knew I was going to lose, but I had to try my best, I had to prove that I could become a Hunter as well and that I wasn't…pathetic.
"And here is the bracket." Chairman Netero said and removed the plastic that hide whatever was under there. It revealed our pictures that we sent in with our Hunter applications along with our tag numbers. The lines connected us to different people, showing who we would fight out of the previous fight. We all looked at my brother, who was going to be fighting Hisoka. I felt bad for my brother; I wouldn't want to go against the Magician. I took a deep breath and looked at the board. I was up against Kai with Gon or the ninja fighting whoever lost from out fight. I couldn't help but stiffen up and felt my eyes go wide. That was the last person I wanted to fight. I heard someone click their tongue, but didn't dare to look at who it could be. I felt eyes one me and furrowed my brows as I looked at the board. I knew I was going to fail now.
"Impressive, right? After all, everyone has at least two chances to win." Chairman Netero said to us, sounding proud of what he probably came up with himself.
"But some people, like number two hundred and ninety four and number four hundred and five get five chances." The guy with the pink turban said making us look at the board again. I looked up the bracket; mine and Kai's line went quite high up, but ended just enough so we would get at least another two chances.
"Why didn't you use a balanced bracket?" The oldest one among us asked. Chairman Netero closed his eyes as he answered his question.
"A question that must be on everyone's mind. This bracket was assembled based on your performances throughout the entire exam. Those who performed better received more chances." He explained making me furrow my brows even more.

That meant I performed terribly to only receive two chances. However, that also meant Kai did terrible too, which made me smile a little bit to myself; before the reality kicked in that I would have to fight him.
"That doesn't sound right. Can you explain how you scored our performance?" Killua asked, sounding not too happy about the results. Chairman Netero cleared his throat slightly and then leaned forward and shook his head about widely.
"No!" He yelled whilst shaking his head and letting his eyes roll all over the place inside his eye sockets. It made both Killua and I jump as neither of us had been expecting him to do that; plus I was standing next to Killua which made it seem all that much more shocking.
"Why not?" Killua asked as his hair stood on end from Chairman Netero's sudden outburst just to say no. The Chairman stood back up straight with his hands behind his back and laughed at Killua's question. He closed his eyes and smiled at him widely.
"Your scores are classified information. So I can't tell you everything. But I can explain our methods." He said and looked at us all more seriously. We all stood quietly, waiting for his explanation.
"First, we consider three major criteria: physical strength, mental strength, and overall impression." The Chairman said and held up three fingers as he carried on explaining.
"For physical strength, we use an aggregate of agility, flexibility, endurance and perception. For mental strength, we use an aggregate of resilience, adaptability, judgement and creativity. However, this information is only used as a reference point. After all, you were strong enough to advance to the Final Phase." He said to us. I continued to stare at him as he dropped his hand and placed it behind his back once more to explain the last thing, overall impression.
"However, we are most concerned with your overall impression. This refers to intangible factors not previously mentioned." The chairman finished with a small laugh as the rest of us stared at him some more.
"You could consider this an evaluation of your potential as a Hunter. And we also incorporate the opinions of your peers. That was our process." He finished off.

I began thinking to myself. Does that mean he was making me fight Kai because I think Kai is scary and Hunters sometimes had to face the things they fear? I could see the logic on it, but now that I thought about it more I didn't really want to fight anyone here. I grimaced at the thought, I had answered to quickly and that left me open to fight anybody. I furrowed my brows at the thought and gripped onto the hem of my sleeve tightly between my fingers.
"The battle rules are quite simple. Weapons are allowed. No cheating. If your opponent admits defeat, you win. However! If you kill your opponent, you will be immediately disqualified. All remaining applicants will pass, and the exam will end. Are we clear?" Chairman Netero explained to us. No one moved and everyone stayed quiet at his words. After a few minutes of silence, the Chairman began speaking once more.
"Then, we shall begin the exam's Final Phase." Chairman Netero said.

We all cleared the area and stood on the side of the area. I stood next to my brother and Killua once more. Gon stood in the middle of the arena with the ninja. The ninja cracked his wrists, making me cringe and Gon retied his shoe laces. One of the men in black suits and sunglasses walked into the middle of them.
"The first match is Hanzo versus Gon. Please step forward." He said. Gon stood up and walked to the front with Hanzo. They both turned around and never took their eyes off each other. The referee looked between the two.
"I will serve as the referee. My name is Masta. Best of luck." The referee, who had called himself Masta, said to the two.
"Hey, good to see you again. You were tailing me during the Fourth Phase." Hanzo said to Masta, making both him and Gon look at him in surprise. I couldn't help but do the same; did that mean we were all being tailed?
"You noticed?" He asked him as Hanzo smiled widely at him.
"Naturally… I'm assuming that each applicant was assigned an examiner for the Fourth Phase. Well, I'm sure everyone else noticed." Hanzo said making frown widely to myself. I had no idea I was being followed the entire time.
"I thought it wasn't worth mentioning." My brother said, looking between me and Leorio. I looked at him trying my best to glare at my big brother.
"Y-Yeah…" Leorio stuttered looking back at my brother.
"I didn't notice at all!" I said to both of them. Leorio relaxed slightly at my words, making me wonder if he had really noticed or just said he had to not seem like an oblivious person, I had had been.

Hanzo closed his eyes and held out his hand for Masta.
"You have my thanks. My ranks were higher because your reports on me were accurate." Hanzo said, crossing his arms over his chest and smiling widely at Masta. He seemed cocky, really cocky.
"Though the outcome was never in doubt!" Hanzo finished off, turning away from the examiner and smiling widely with his nose in the air. Yeah…Hanzo was really cocky.
"Y-Yes…" Masta stuttered out.
"Moving on, I have a question for you." Hanzo said, pointing at Masta.
"What is it?" Masta asked him.
"We only win if your opponent surrenders, correct? It doesn't count if we knock them unconscious. No TKOs allowed, either." Hanzo asked as Masta nodded his head.
"Yes, that is correct." He said making Hanzo sigh and look at Gon slightly.
"I see. This one could be difficult…" Hanzo said, looking at Gon. I looked between the two; at least he couldn't knock Gon out. I was nervous, if Gon was than I was nervous enough for the both of us. Gon's good, really good, but I didn't know what Hanzo could do or how good Hanzo was. I just hoped Gon could win against the Ninja.

Masta moved backwards away from Gon and Hanzo.
"Now then, it's time to begin." Masta said to the two of them. Gon moved backwards and then bent down a little, his eyes locked on Hanzo and his fists clenched slightly in front of him as he stood ready to take on the ninja. Hanzo remained on the spot he stood, unmoving. He then stood defensively, locking his own eyes onto Gon. Masta raised his arms behind his head then threw them down and across his chest.
"Begin!" He yelled out to the two. Gon was the first one to move. He used his speed to run past Hanzo and behind him. Hanzo however caught up to him quickly and came face to face with Gon. Hanzo was fast, really fast. Gon looked shocked at Hanzo's own speed. Suddenly, Hanzo slammed the side of his hand into the back of Gon's neck. I couldn't help but wince and closed my eyes tightly at the sound. I opened them again to see Gon's eyes wide as he fell forward, gasping from the sudden strike.
"You did well for a kid." I heard Hanzo say to Gon as he landed on the floor. Kurapika, Leorio and I all gasped at what happened to Gon.
Well, this would already be over if it were a normal fight…" Hanzo said to Gon. He leaned down behind Gon with one knee on the floor and the other propped. Grabbing Gon's shoulders he pulled him up.
"Hey, wake up." He said curving Gon's back over the end of his knee. Gon sat up with his legs straight out in front of him and his teeth gritted together.
"You must feel terrible. I hit you hard enough to make your brain bounce around. Do you understand? You have no chance against me. Might as well give up now…" Hanzo said as Gon shook on the floor whilst sitting up.

Silence fell around the group with only the sound of Gon's slight gasps filling the air. Gon lowered his head as he opened his mouth to speak.
"No way…" He said to him only to be hit on the side of the head by Hanzo. I flinched once more at the sight. Gon began couching as Hanzo began speaking once more.
"Think about it. If you surrender now, you'll still be in decent shape for your next fight. There's no reason to be stubborn. Just surrender." He said as Gon gritted his teeth once more. His eyes were wide and he started sweating.
"Never gonna happen!" Gon said as Hanzo hit him hard on the side of his face again. Leorio flinched back as Kurapika began glaring at Hanzo. I couldn't help but flinch myself as we watched what was happening. Gon laid on the floor on his knees and arms, shaking.
"Surrender." Hanzo said to him, standing next to Gon. Gon shakily placed one hand on the floor and then the other and lifted himself up with difficulty. He placed his hands onto his knees and began standing up slowly. Hanzo clenched his fist and bent down, punching Gon right in the gut. Gon gripped around his stomach and fell to his knees once more.
"Gon! Don't be silly! You'll still have another chance! You should…" Leorio began yelling over to Gon.
"Leorio! If you were in Gon's position would you surrender?" Kurapika asked as he continuously glared at Hanzo.
"Hell no! That guy thinks he's hot stuff…" Leorio said to him. Gon laid on the floor gripping his stomach as Hanzo stood in front of him watching.
"Gon feels the same way!" Kurapika said to him making Leorio turn to him angrily before turning back to the fight.
"I know! I know that… But there isn't any other choice!" Leorio shouted. I kept my eyes on the fight the whole time, watching through furrowed brows hoping Gon would at least stand up.
"You're contradicting yourself, but I understand how you feel!" Kurapika said as Hanzo delivered a kick right into Gon's gut.

I winced once more as Gon was sent flying and fell onto the floor on his side. Everyone else winced at the kick as well, it sounded and looked painful. Gon rolled on the floor as he landed and laid on his side. He held onto his stomach as he slowly started getting up once more. The examiners started speaking to among themselves once more. Hanzo locked his hands together and slammed his hands into the back of Gon's back once more. Gon laid on the floor once more, a hand on his back.

Time went on as Gon took more and more hits from Hanzo. His blood was smeared on the floor and most of the time he laid on the floor. Some people had to turn away. The guy with the pink turban looked the most uncomfortable with the fight. I forced myself to watch, no matter how much I wanted to look away I couldn't. I had to try and be there for my friend even if it wasn't right there. All I could do was watch.
"It's been three hours." The guy in the pink turban said, keeping his eyes away from the fight.
"There's nothing left for him to vomit." The oldest man said. Hanzo began walking up to Gon as he laid on the floor unmoving. He was still breathing though, which was good. Hanzo wasn't allowed to kill him and Gon wouldn't give up.
"Get up." Hanzo said to him. Gon moved weakly to push himself off the floor. Leorio's fists were shaking and clenched hard.
"Enough, already… I'm gonna kill you! I'll fight you in his place!" Leorio shouted over to Hanzo. Hanzo turned around slightly to face Leorio, who was pointing at himself with his thumb.
"If you can't take it, leave. It's only going to get worse." Hanzo said to him. Leorio began moving forward only to have a couple of the men in suits stand in front of him.
"What was that?!" Leorio shouted over. Masta stood on the arena once more, looking over to Leorio.
"No one may interfere in a one-on-one match. And if you step in, Gon will be the one disqualified!" Masta said, taking Leorio back by surprise. There was nothing we could do to help Gon; not if we wanted Gon to get disqualified. It made me…mad.
"It's okay…" Gon said as he stood up shakily. His hands were on his knees as he doubled over, his face looking at the ground and shook.
"Leorio… This is… nothing… I-I can still fight…" Gon said to him, bringing his head up to look at us.

Hanzo sighed to himself and swept his leg underneath Gon's, making him fall to the floor once more. Bending over, Hanzo grabbed a hold of Gon's arm and placed his other hand onto the top of his shoulder.
"I'm going to break your arm." Hanzo said to him simply. My eyes went wide at the words; he was really going to do that? Kurapika, Leorio and Killua all glared at Hanzo for his words. I could feel my stomach churning at the words themselves.
"I'm not joking around, so give up. Surrender." Hanzo said. Gon lifted his head up slightly, not daring to look at Hanzo.
"Never!" He yelled. With that, Hanzo swiftly broke his arm. I couldn't help but gasps at the sound and flinched at the sight. Gon sat on his knees with his forehead on the ground grasping onto his now broken arm tightly and gasping to himself.
"He really broke his arm." The guy with the pink turban said, astonished by Hanzo's actions. Hanzo stood calmly next to Gon.
"There you go. You can't use your left arm anymore." Hanzo said. I could hear Leorio grit his teeth together and quickly glanced at him through the corner of my eyes. He look angry, his fists were clenched hard. Looking at my brother he looked just as angry. I looked at Killua who also looked angry. I was angry myself and I managed to glare hard at Hanzo. I shook in anger and felt my vision start to turn red. It was a strange feeling, I never felt this mad about something ever in my life. I felt a hand on my shoulder that gripped it a little bit hard and knew who it. I followed the hand up and saw my brother looking the angriest I had ever seen him for a while. His eyes turned red through the contact.
"Kurapika, don't try to stop me. If that bastard does anything else to Gon… Sorry, Gon, but I can't stop myself." Leorio said to my brother through harsh tones.
"Me? Stop you? Don't worry. There is no chance of that happening." My brother said as he shook in anger himself.

Gon struggled to get himself up once more.
"I'm sure you're in too much pain to listen, but hear me out." Hanzo began saying and placed a hand onto the ground flat.
"I am a descended from the shinobi, a clan of covert agents." He said and lifted his body into the air, balancing on the one hand on the ground. He closed his eyes as he began talking once more.
"From the day I was born, I was forced to endure harsh training in order to master the art of ninpo. For eighteen years, I have trained my body and technique, without rest. By the time I was your age, I had already killed a man." Hanzo said and jumped his hand a little bit, balancing on the tips of his fingers instead.
"At this point in time, you cannot defeat me in combat. I'm trying to be nice. Admit defeat-" Hanzo said and then flew away off from the ground. Gon had got up and kicked him square in the face, a glare on his face. I could feel my vision go back to normal and couldn't help but smile at Gon's comeback. He fell onto the ground again onto his broken arm as Hanzo landed a few feet away.
"Ow…" Gon said as he struggled to get back up once more. Gon sat up, gripping onto his arm once more as he looked at Hanzo.
"My head's cleared up a bit, after all the pain and that long explanation." Gon said loudly to Hanzo.
"Yes! Gon, go! Kick him while he's down!" Leorio said punching his fist into the air and then pointing to Hanzo with a wide smirk on his face. Gon stood back up shakily once more as Hanzo stayed lying on the floor.
"If you're eighteen, you're only six years older than I am. Besides, this isn't a battle to see who's stronger. It's to see who's willing to surrender first." Gon said to him, continuously gripping onto his arm.

Hanzo lifted himself up and pushed himself backwards with his hands and landed on his feet. He had blood dripping from his nose.
"I let you kick me on purpose." Hanzo said to Gon.
"Liar!" Leorio and I shouted at him whilst Leorio pointed at Hanzo.
"You don't understand… This isn't a warning. It's an ultimatum. Was it too hard for you to understand? Then I'll make it easier for you. I'll cut off your legs, so that they can't be reattached." Hanzo said, pulling out a hidden blade that was in his bandages. I couldn't help but glare at him, surely that was cheating? Hanzo swung his blade around and kept his eyes closed the entire time.
"A permanent injury should help to wake you up. But first, I'll ask you once more. Surrender." Hanzo said lifting his blade near his face, an evil look in his eyes.
"I won't accept that!" Gon shouted back at him after a few moments of silence. We all looked at Gon shocked. He just threatened to cut off his legs and he's not going to give up?! I admire the eagerness but surely there was a limit to where this boy will stop? It made me think though. Hanzo looked shocked at Gon's words and determined look.
"I don't want my legs cut off, but I don't want to surrender. So let's find a different way to fight!" Gon said to him, aiming to compromise so that both parties could be happy. Hanzo became angry at Gon's words and looked like he was about to blow his lid.
"Hey…Do you understand your own situation?!" Hanzo said. Kurapika and Leorio looked shocked at Gon's words as Hisoka and the older guy started laughing at the suggestion, or at Hanzo blowing his top. The older guy turned away, putting a hand to his mouth.
"Excuse me." He said through laughs.

I looked at Gon confused but couldn't help but smile widely at him.
"You don't get to make demands! Are you trying to insult me?! I'm seriously gonna cut off your legs!" Hanzo said, pointing his blade at Gon who remained unaffected by Hanzo's little temper tantrum. It was hard to think that a few moments ago, Hanzo was beating Gon to a pulp, and now he was losing his cool over Gon's determination of not surrendering.
"But I still will not surrender. Besides, if you do that, I'll bleed to death. He'll be disqualified if that happens, right?" Gon said and then leaned to his left slightly to look at Masta, asking him about Hanzo being disqualified if he bleeds to death.
"Oh, yes." Masta said as Gon stood up straight again and looked at Hanzo.
"See? Neither of us wants that to happen. So let's think of a better way." Gon said as he looked at Hanzo with question before looking at him determined. Hanzo looked confused at Gon's words and held his blade quite close to his own face.
"I think he's okay now. Gon's taken control." My brother said as I nodded my head agreeing.
"It's better seeing Gon like that then how he was a while ago." I said to them, smiling widely at Gon.
"He's so self-centred…" Leorio said, shocked by Gon's words.
"But he's succeeded in convincing Hanzo and the rest of us. Honestly…" Kurapika said as I laughed slightly to myself, happy to see Gon back to his normal self; even with a broken arm and bloody face.

Hanzo continued to glare at Gon and thrust his blade forward, the tip just touching Gon's forehead. We all looked at him surprised. Blood dripped down from where the blade hit with Gon unmoving.
"You really don't get it… If you die, you'll never get another chance. If I kill you here, I need only to try again next year. We are not on equal footing!" Hanzo said to him. Gon seemed unaffected by his words and continued to stare at Hanzo determined. My brother and Leorio moved forward slightly. Kurapika stopped and looked at Leorio, who stood clenching his fists and teeth together. I couldn't help but glare slightly at Hanzo myself. Gon and the ninja continued to stare at each other, neither moving, neither willing to surrender.
"Why won't you concede? It's easy to do. You can try again next year. You value your pride more than your own life?! You're really willing to die for your pride?!" Hanzo shouted at Gon. They continued to stare at each other more, the silence creeping back in until Gon broke it.
"I'm going to find my dad." Gon said taking the four of us back by surprise. Hanzo himself looked surprised.
"Your dad?" He questioned him.
"My dad is a Hunter. So I'm going to become a Hunter and find him! I believe that I'll find him one day… But I have a feeling that if I give up now, I'll never find him! So I won't surrender." Gon said to him, never taking his eyes off of Hanzo. Hanzo continued to stare at Gon himself.
"If you don't yield, you'll die…" He said and pushed the blade forward which only pushed Gon back slightly as he continued to watch Hanzo determined and sure of his own actions. Hanzo pulled his blade away and flicked it back into his bandages once more. He walked away from Gon and clenched his hands together.
"I give up. You win." He said taking us all back by surprise.
"I can't kill you. But I can't think of a way to make you surrender. I'll take this loss and take my chances in the next battle!" Hanzo said to him, crossing his arms over his chest.

Gon continued to stare at Hanzo and removed his hand from his broken arm.
"I can't accept that. That's not fair!" Gon shouted at him and pointed his finger at him, a glare sitting on his face.
"We both have to think of a way to settle this fight!" Gon shouted at him. Hanzo turned his head slightly to face Gon, a smirk on his face.
"Heh, I knew you would say that." He said and suddenly bent down to Gon's level and pointed a finger at him, glaring at him.
"You fool! There's not point, because you'll never surrender!" He shouted at him as Gon leaned forward, glaring at him back.
"But I don't want to win like this!"
"What am I supposed to do?"
"We can work together to figure it out!" They shouted back and forth at each other. Hanzo stood up straight, an annoyed look on his face as he stared down at Gon.
"In other words, I've already given up on this match, but you want me to try to win again, while helping to determine a way to make you feel good about your victory! Is that right?" Hanzo questioned Gon, annoyed by the mere suggestion. Gon smiled widely at him, his eyes brightening up.
"Uh-huh!" Gon said to him as Hanzo punched him under his chin sending him flying into the air.
"You moron!" Hanzo shouted. Gon bounced once and landed on his back with his hands by his head. I think Hanzo knocked him out. I looked worried over to Gon and then back at Hanzo who had turned himself slightly to face Masta.
"Hey, ref. I lose. Let's move on to the next match." Hanzo said to him and turned around to walk back to us.
"Understood." Masta said to him as Hanzo stopped and turned to face the examiners instead.
"But I want to tell the executive committee something first. When he wakes up, he'll probably refuse his passing judgement. Because he's a stubborn boy, as we've seen. Only one person will fail this round, right? If Gon fails, wouldn't that make the rest of our fights meaningless?" Hanzo said to him as people started gathering around Gon to make sure he was okay.

A couple of the men in suits went to get a stretcher as Hanzo began walking back to the group. The men came back and became moving Gon onto the stretcher to take him somewhere, probably the nurses' office or whatever this hotel had in the terms of medical rooms. Masta walked back to the middle of the arena once more looking at everybody through his sunglasses. I watched as they took Gon away to patch him up. He did get hurt quite a lot.
"We will move onto the second fight. The second match is Kai versus Mishka. Please step forward." He said to us. I heard the clicking of someone's tongue and knew who it belonged to. Taking a deep breath I opened up my bag and took out my Sai's knowing that Kai had daggers. I wanted to try and be on as much equal footing as possible.
"Be careful. I do not want you ending up like Gon. If Kai starts getting too much then surrender." I heard my brother say, making me look up at him through the corner of my eyes as I took off my bag. I took another deep breath as I placed my bag by his feet and shook my head. I could feel my brother look at me questionably at my answer.
"I got here because you, Gon, Killua and Leorio all had to help me through the entire exam. I'm going to try my best against Kai, even if I get badly hurt and end up like or worse than Gon. He's scary and mean, but I want to prove to him I'm not pathetic like he says!" I said to my brother looking at him determined. It must have taken my brother back as he looked at me questionably and furrowed his brows slightly.
"Mishka…" He trailed off as I shook my head again, looking at my brother more determined than I had ever been before in my life.
"I came here because I want to be a Black List Hunter with you. I'm going to prove that I can be one." I said to him and then smiled at him widely.
"I'll be okay, he can't kill me and he can't injure me until I bleed and die." I said to him smiling widely still. Silence grew between us. Kurapika sighed to himself and nodded his head slightly, looking at me with a stern look.
"Try your best and don't let him get to you." He said as I smiled widely at him and nodded my head quickly.
I turned around on the balls of my feet and walked to the middle of the arena standing in front of Kai. Kai glared at me as he reached behind for his weapons. I stood with my knees bent and apart holding my own weapons in front of me for protection, glaring back at him. This was it; this was the fight I had to do. This fight would prove I wasn't pathetic like he says and that I deserved to be a Hunter.
