We had taken a boat back to Whale Island. The boat ride was about five days long. It turned out to be a long and exhausting ride back to Gon's home, but he seemed so excited to go back and see his Auntie that I couldn't help but feel happy myself. Killua seemed less and less thrilled each day; I wondered why. Maybe he was home sick?

The boat docked at the port; I recognised the port as the port that we stopped at when I first met Gon. There weren't many people this time and it seemed quite calm compared to six months ago. I looked around with interest at all the sights as me and Killua followed Gon to his Auntie's home.

We followed Gon up a hill. Gon had ran ahead of me and Killua while waving his arm in the air.
"Aunt Mito! Aunt Mito! Aunt Mito!" Gon shouted as he continued running up the hill. I looked around at the scenery, Gon's home was really pretty although a bit nerve whacking being on top of a hill near the cliff. What if the house fell?! I looked at Killua who walked with his hands in his pockets and head down, staring at the ground. I furrowed my brows at him and linked my hands behind my back, holding my fingers lightly.
"You two must be Killua and Mishka." I heard a calm and soft voice say. Both me and Killua snapped our heads up to the sound. Gon was standing in front of a grown woman who had short, slicked back Ginger hair, brown eyes, a red long sleeved top with golden buttons, a long yellow skirt that fell just above her brown ankle boots. Had Gon told her about us? I felt myself get nervous as me and Killua stopped and couldn't help but step behind Killua slightly. She was much holder than us and she was Gon's auntie, which I guess added some intimidation as that meant she was like a parental figure and they made me nervous.

We followed Gon and his Auntie into their house. The three of us had quickly put our clothes into Gon's room that was upstairs. We came back down following Gon into the dining room. There were only four seats at the table, so I ended up sharing with Killua for the time being until his Auntie came back with another seat. I didn't want to take the other seat at the table; it's their house. I sat with my legs over one corner of the seat as Killua had his legs over the other corner, we leaned our backs into each other so that we could sit up straight. My hands sat in my lap as I stared at the cup full of tea as Killua took a long sip from his with his eyes closed. Mito was walking around the house with a pair of slippers on. Sitting opposite me and Killua was an elderly lady with grey hair tied in a tight bun, a brown short sleeved dress with a lighter brown long sleeved top underneath. She had her eyes closed as she drank her tea. I felt awkward and out of place.
"Sheesh, you should have let me know you were coming home. I didn't have time to prepare anything." She complained to Gon as Killua placed his cup down. Gon wondered over to an empty seat that was on one side of the table as he looked at his Auntie.
"It's not a big deal, whatever is fine." Gon said looking at his Auntie, who looked at him with a small glare.
"What are you saying? Your friends came all the way out here to visit. I don't even have an extra seat." Mito said as she placed her hands on her hips and began wondering outside to grab a seat from there.
"No, it's okay." Killua said holding out his hand as Mito came back with another seat. She placed it next to Killua making me quickly bow my head.
"Thank you very much!" I said quickly as I hopped over to that seat. Killua sat probably on the chair as I sat on my hands staring at the tea in my cup. Mito walked over to a cabinet and opened the door to rummage through it.
"Honestly, you should have said something first…" She said to Gon. Me, Gon and Killua looked at each other and laughed slightly, then turned our heads quickly with wide eyes as Mito thrust a plate out of the cabinet and pointed it at us.
"Are you listening to me?" She asked before putting the plate away again. We relaxed slightly as she turned back around.

I removed my hands from under me and grabbed my cup of tea to take a small sip. Mito placed her hands on her hips as she turned around slightly to face us once more.
"Oh, that's right… Take a bath while I make something to eat. And put out your dirty clothes. I'll be doing laundry." She said as she turned back around and began rummaging through the cabinet once more.
"Okay, later." Gon said nodding his head making Mito turn around quickly glaring at him.
"Now! You have ten seconds! One. Two. Three." Mito began counting down as Gon to one side of the dining room while taking off his jacket. He then picked up some towels and ran back the other way with the towels in his hands.
"Is she always like this?" Killua asked making me quickly put my cup down and look at him wide eyed. Did he just ask that out loud?! That was a little bit rude after all we were in her home you can't just ask things like that out loud!
"Four. Five." She continued as Gon stood next to Killua smiling widely.
"Pretty much. Let's move fast!" Gon said as he quickly pulled Killua's jumper off over his head. I followed suit and quickly stood up a little bit from my chair and pulled my dress tabard off from over my head as the two boys continued to strip down to their underwear to run to the bathroom.
"Six. Seven. Eight. Nine." Mito continued counting until she stopped quickly as I began pulling my top up to give to her to wash.
"No!" Mito yelled at me making me let go of my top as the two boys looked at her confused. Mito sighed as she ran a hand through her hair.
"There won't be enough time for you to take a separate bath…Take a towel and go into the bathroom to get changed into that, then let the boys do the same. You are not to do this again do you understand?" She said looking at me sternly as I nodded my head quickly. I quickly went over to the table and grabbed a towel before looking at Gon with furrowed brows.
"Where's your bathroom?" I asked him quietly as he pointed over to where it was. I quickly nodded my head and jogged over. I took off my shoes before entering and left them by the door. Entering the bathroom I quickly closed the door behind me and stripped down. I wrapped the towel up around myself and exited the bathroom with my clothes in my hands. I went over to the laundry basket where the rest of the dirty clothes were. The dress tabard in my bag was dirty so I quickly put that in, but luckily my other set of training clothes weren't. I quickly ran upstairs into Gon's room and opened my bag, grabbing my clean training clothes and brought them downstairs again with me.

I was the first one in the bath while the boys had their backs turned. I had used my ribbon to tie my hair up into a high side pony tail so that it didn't fall into the bath and get the water hairy. I had my towel neatly over the edge of the bath so that I could quickly put it on when the first one to finish was done washing. Gon washed his hair as Killua washed himself. I leaned on the edge of the bath while sitting on my legs with my arms crossed on the side of the bath and chin leaning into my arms. I watched the two boys back before yawning loudly to myself, closing my eyes shut tightly with a hand lightly covering my mouth. Baths made me sleepy. When I opened them I came face to face with Killua, who blew soap bubbles into my face with a smirk.
"My turn." He said simply as I nodded my head. He quickly turned around allowing me to stand up and put my towel back on. Once done I climbed out of the bath and sat on the stool he was on and untied my hair so that I could wash it. Gon quickly finished washing off his body and got up to tell Killua to get out. I rinsed the soap out of my by tipping a bucket full of water over my head. I quickly shook my head as Killua washed his own hair. I filled up the bucket again for him to use next.
"Yeah, this is the life…" I heard Gon say happily to himself but loud enough for us to hear. Once we were clean Gon and Killua exited the bathroom allowing me to quickly chuck on my clean training clothes. I tied my ribbon around my wrist, tying it into a bow as I had nowhere else to put it, and I didn't feel like putting it in my hair.I exited the bathroom once dressed and slipped on my shoes just as Gon and Killua had got to the bottom of the stairs. Gon was wearing a white tank top with turtle neck like neck and his usual green shorts with green boot trainers while Killua was wearing a blue vest top with brown shorts and purple trainers.

We all sat at table. A lot of food was laid out. It looked really good and I felt hungrier than I originally thought I was.
"Okay, let's eat." Mito said happily to us as we stared at the food.
"Wow! This looks delicious." Killua said as he stuck a fork into a meatball and quickly ate it. I looked around the table, everyone else had their eyes closed and hands together. Everyone but me and Killua. I had my hands in my lap while Killua had his fork in his mouth. It felt weird, almost intruding. They were a family after all and if I was honest it had been a long time since I ate with people like a family. Sure me and my brother ate together, but we never did anything like this; and the last time I ate with parental figures was when we were staying with Sarah and Jerome. I felt extremely out of place with it all. Killua looked at Gon after looking at everyone else.
"What are you doing?" He asked him confused as I looked over myself. I had to admit, I wasn't too sure. When we stayed with Sarah she just usually said "Thank you." and were allowed to eat then. Gon opened an eye looking at me and Killua with a small smile on his face.
"Offering our thanks." He said making Killua stand up and elbow him in his arm slightly.
"What does that mean?" Killua asked him as I looked at him questionably. I guess thank you wasn't enough sometimes. Killua quickly at in in his seat again as Mito began speaking once more.
"All right…Let's dig in." Mito said as she opened her eyes. She looked over to me and Killua making me sit up quickly as I had been slouching.
"Please help yourself, Killua, Mishka." She said with a kind smile on her face.
"Right." Killua said nodding his head as I smiled a little bit back at her, still feeling somewhat nervous.
"Thank you." I said bowing my head slightly.

I watched Killua and Gon eat like mad while I had just a small bit of food. Yeah, I was hungrier than usual but still not hungry enough to fill my plate with food. I drank some of my tea as Mito leaned her elbows on the table with her hand in her hands smiling widely.
"Oh, right, Aunt Mito. Look!" Gon said happily holding out his Hunter's licence to his Auntie who looked at it surprised.
"This is a Hunter Licence." Gon said, handing the card over to Mito. She looked at it confused and turned it over, looking at the blue card closely.
"Hmm. It looks pretty normal. There." She said, bending the card in half with her hands. I looked at her wide eyed as Gon leaned over the table with his hand out towards the card, shrieking at his Aunties actions. Killua leaned forward on the table with an elbow propped and cheek lazily in the palm of his hand. I placed my tea back down and dropped my hands into my lap as I watched the exchange between the two.
"Hey, what are you doing?" Gon questioned her taking back the card. He inspected it closely as he sat back down into his chair.
"Just kidding… I would never do anything like that." Mito said laughing slightly. I could see Killua looking between the two with a small smile on his face as I looked wide eyed between them. It was alien to me; and so strange it didn't feel real…I guess I had forgotten what a family home was really like.
"Man, what if it doesn't work anymore?" Gon questioned her.

Mito had left the kitchen with the wet laundry and walked outside holding the basket tightly in her hands. The three of us talked among ourselves until Gon smiled widely at the both of us.
"How about I show you two around the island?" Gon asked. I smiled widely and nodded my head quickly as Killua smiled widely himself.
"Yeah." He said. The three of us excused ourselves from the table. Me and Killua followed Gon outside and around the side of the house. Killua shoved his hands into his shorts pockets as I laced my fingers behind my back lightly. Mito was hanging the laundry on the line.
"Aunt Mito, I'm going to show Killua and Mishka around the Island." Gon said, jogging on the spot. The three of us smiled at her before running off following Gon. I unlaced my fingers so that I could run more easily.
"Won't that take a while? Want me to pack some food for you?" I heard Mito shout over to us as the three of us began running down the hill away from Gon's house.
"That's okay! We'll find something to eat in the forest." Gon shouted back to her.

The three of us ran on top of a wall. The Killua jumped around Gon to run in front. I sped up the pace and quickly grabbed onto Gon's shoulders and jumped over him, lightly putting my feet onto his back to give me some height. I landed in front of him only to have him jump over me and Killua to get back in front. We continued like for along the wall. We then jumped onto a big rock and then into the trees. I followed them nervously; I didn't want to fall so I made the decision of not looking down. Eventually the three of us got to a cliff edge. We looked out to the see. Gon laced his fingers behind his head as Killua stood with his hands on his hips. I stood in the middle of the two with my fingers laced lightly behind my back as I stared at the sea wide eyed. It looked much prettier here than it did on the boat. Gon suddenly dived down into the water. I quickly made my way to the edge and looked down terrified. I felt a pair of hands on my back, pushing me over the edge and sending me towards the water myself. I closed my eyes tightly as I fell towards the water.

Once we got out of the water Gon had made a fishing rod out of a very long stick and some string he had found. They let me try as Killua said he had a go when they were in trick tower. The three of us climbed a very tall tree. Gon and Killua stood behind me watching closely as I sat down the thick branch with my legs crossed. I felt something tug the string and being pulling the make-shift fishing rod up. A fish flew out of the water and into the air, its mouth firmly attached to the lure.

We climbed down the tree. Gon had taken the fish off of me. I didn't like the feel of it. I had poked it and it started moving and wiggling about. I didn't like the feel of the scales on my finger and felt a chill run up my spin. We got to an open cliff edge area and made a make-shift fire with then. I had skewed the fish while Gon made the fire and Killua fanned it to keep it going. I couldn't help but smile widely with the two boys, this day was actually really fun after we left Gon's home and got out of the family atmosphere.

It had gotten dark by time we had our dinner. Me, Gon and Killua laid on the ground on our backs with our hands behind our heads. Gon was in the middle of me and Killua. Me and Gon had our legs out stretched as Killua had one leg propped up at the knee and the other leg over it. We watched the night sky. It was filled with stars, and the moon was great to look at to. This was relaxing as well as fun. I couldn't remember the last time I just had a relaxing day with some fun involved with friends. Then again, after the massacre of the clan I didn't have friends, I only hung around my brother and was too scared to go and interact with other kids my age. Not that I wanted to at the time; me and my brother never stayed in one place for long we were always moving. Now that I thought about it probably; it was a little sad on my half.
"Hey, Gon." Killua said jogging me out of my thoughts. Gon turned his head towards Killua as I continued to watch the night sky with wide eyes.
"What are you going to do now?" Killua asked him. Gon looked back up to the night sky once more.
"For now, I'll rest up here while I gather information… The information I'll need before I go to Yorknew to look for my dad." Gon said as we continued to watch the night sky.
"But I got to find information quick so we can visit Mishka's house." Gon said making me turn my head away from the night sky. I looked back up once more and smiled a little to myself.
"It's okay. Finding your dad is really important, so if we can't visit Sarah and Kimmy before September than I don't mind. We just have to visit them next time." I said to him, turning my head again and smiling widely. I saw Gon smile slightly to himself through the corner of my eyes as we continued watching the sky.
"Oh…" Killua said trailing off.

Silence fell between the three of us, but it wasn't uncomfortable or disheartening. It was a nice silence; the crackling of the fire only made it that much more relaxing.
"What should I do?" Killua wondered out loud. Gon sat up quickly as I did the same. I leaned on my hands that were behind me as I looked at Killua questionably.
"Huh? You should stay here and then go to Yorknew with me and Mishka!" Gon said as I nodded my head quickly. I had to admit, it wouldn't feel right exploring new places if it wasn't the three of us. Killua turned his head slightly, facing the two of us.
"Yeah. I'm coming with you two. That wasn't what I meant." Killua said looking up at the sky again. He quickly brought himself up, sitting cross legged with his back hunched as he looked into his lap.
"I was thinking you two are sort of admirable." Killua said taking me and Gon back by surprise. Killua looked up at the sky again, his hands lazily on the floor between his crossed legs.
"There's nothing I really want to do… I don't really have anything I want to do like you two do." Killua said to us, turning his head towards us. I shifted myself so that I was sitting on my knees and walked up on my knees, sitting next to Gon so that I could look at Killua better. In a way; it was probably nice not knowing what to do. Me and Gon stayed silent as Killua smiled slightly and then turned his head back to his lap, the smile disappearing.
"Though there are plenty of things I don't want to do. I don't want to stay in that house… or inherit the family business. I guess I'm a little jealous." Killua said, closing his eyes and leaning back onto his hands once more. I furrowed my brows slightly; if anything, I was a little jealous of Killua. He didn't know what he wanted to do and it seemed nice. I guess I wished I had that sort of luxury, but my cards wasn't drawn fairly so I was dealing with the hand I was given.
"Killua… I think it's fun to be with you." Gon said out of the blue. I looked at Gon and couldn't help but smile a little, furrowing my brows as I held back a small laugh. Killua looked taken back and leaned on his right hand away from Gon.
"Wh-what's that about?" He asked him. Gon looked up at the sky, his hands on the feet of his boots.
"Whale Island is a place for fishermen to stay during extended outings. There aren't too many native relatives. There's one other kid here that's around my age and she's a girl. So you and Mishka are my first friends who are the same age." Gon said, turning his head to look at Killua and smiling widely; as he leaned back on his hands. He quickly turned his head to me and smiled as well, making me smile back. Killua looked between Gon and me, before closing his eyes and turning his head away.
"My situation was similar… Stuck in that house all day. I spent all my time learning how to kill. You two were my first friends." Killua said looking back at me and Gon before turning his head away.

I smiled slightly to myself and turned my head towards the sky.
"I guess I'm the same in a way." I said to them, watching the sky. I furrowed my brows slightly, feeling a small sad smile on my face as I looked back down into my lap, my eye lids half shutting.
"After mine and my brother's clan was killed we travelled a lot and never stayed in one place for long. Sarah's was the longest place we stayed." I said to them, keeping the same small smile on my face, before looking back up once more to the sky, my eyes fully open and a frown on my face instead.
"I didn't play with other children because I was really scared of everything around us. I had never been outside our village before. I always stayed by my brother. It really brought my confidence down because I knew he would protect me from everything." I said to them. I turned my head towards them, smiling widely at them as I shifted my weight once more so that I was also sitting cross legged and leaned back on my hands.
"Then I met you two. You two were my first friends my age." I said to them, smiling widely at the two. Gon smiled back as Killua looked a little shocked.
"Do you two have fun when we're together?" Gon asked, looking between the two of us. Killua looked at Gon a little shocked and then turned his head down towards his lap, rubbing the back of his neck with a hand.
"I guess, yeah." Killua said turning his head away from Gon and leaning back onto his hands once more. Gon looked at me with a wide smile on his face.
"Yeah!" I said proudly, nodding my head quickly. Gon looked between me and Killua, a wide smile on his face.
"Then let's stick together! We can travel around and see the world together!" Gon said happily. I smiled widely at him and nodded my head quickly.
"That sounds like fun!" I said to him happily. Sure I wanted to be a Black List Hunter, but I also wanted to travel the world, and I was thinking; maybe I can travel the world with Gon and Killua and still be a Black List Hunter looking for the Phantom Troupe!
"Don't you ever feel embarrassed saying that stuff?" Killua asked Gon in a questioning tone. The only thing Gon did was laugh at his sentence.

The three of us looked back at the sky with wide eyes. Gon had a determined smile on his face as Killua had one of confusion and some sort of lost I guess. I had a small smile on my face as we watched the stars.
"I'll be looking for my dad. Killua will be looking for what he wants to do. Mishka will be looking for the Phantom Troupe." Gon said, making me smile that little bit more. He didn't forget what I wanted to do; I was happy…really happy.
"It'll be a blast!" Gon said, looking between me and Killua. Killua looked at him and dropped his head, smiling slightly with his eyes closed. I looked at Gon with a small smile on my face, eyes half closed and brows furrowed. We were going to stay together and do what we wanted as well as travel everywhere; it was going to be great.
"Yeah. Doesn't sound too bad." Killua said half opening his eyes as he looked at his lap.
"We can still do what we want…and stay together to travel everywhere. It's going to be amazing." I said to the two, closing my eyes and smiling widely. I opened my eyes and watched Killua when I heard movement. Killua threw his hands into the air, a wide smile on his face.
"Okay! I'll help you look for your dad and you look for the Phantom Troupe until I discover what I want to do!" Killua said, stretching his arms above his head before stretching them behind him.
"And I'll help you look for your dad too!" I said to Gon, smiling widely. Gon looked between us both and nodded his head quickly.
"Yeah!" He said, smiling widely at the two of us.
"Oh, what's your mum doing?" Killua asked Gon. We both looked at Gon questionably, as he stared at Killua before looking up to the sky.

Our fire had burnt down as the sounds of the animals in the forest filled our ears. The three of us went back to watching the starred sky while leaning back onto our hands. I had moved myself as that I was sitting next to Killua, making it easier for Gon to look at us instead of turning his head around constantly.
"It's hard asking about my dad, but asking about me mum is even harder." Gon said as Killua and I watched Gon. Gon brought his knees to his chest as he leant forward and wrapped his arms around the tops of his knees, he looked out to the ocean as me and Killua continued to stare at him.
"Since Aunt Mito raised me by herself, it would feel wrong to ask her that…" Gon said to us. Killua looked back out to the ocean himself as I continued to stare at the two.
"Is that how is works?" Killua questioned him.
"At first, Aunt Mito told me my parents died in a traffic accident. She was worried that I might end up like my dad if I learned he was alive and a Hunter…" Gon said as Killua looked back to him. Killua then closed his eyes and looked slightly away.
"And she was right." Killua said making me look at him with wide eyes. I looked back at Gon once he started speaking.
"When I found out about my dad, I kind of figured that my mum was probably dead." Gon said, smiling at the two of us. His attitude was carefree about it; I couldn't help but smile slightly myself as Killua did the same.
"That's pretty harsh!" Killua said as I nodded my head quickly and leaned forwards myself; dumping my hands onto the floor between my crossed legs. Gon turned his head around, looking at the floor before quickly snapping his head to look up to the sky once more.
"So I've always thought of Aunt Mito as my mum. She's the only mum I have. So there's nothing for me to ask. I don't need to." Gon said happily as me and Killua turned our heads to look up at the sky once more. More stars filled the sky as we stared at it, smiling amongst ourselves.
"I see. Man, I wish I had a mum like Mito…" Killua said, leaning his head back and closing his eyes. I smiled widely at him as Gon turned his head, smiling widely at him as well.
"She's the best! Though she does nag a lot" Gon said making me laugh slightly. Killua continued looking at Gon with a wide smile.
"That's nothing… my mum starts crying the second I say I want to go outside! She actually goes into hysterics!" Killua said making me and Gon laugh with him.

Silence fell between the three of us as we continued to watch the night sky filled with even more stars from before. The moon stayed the same as our fire completely died out.
"Do you wish you had a mum again, Mishka?" Killua asked me as he continued to stare at the sky. I looked at Killua with wide eyes before turning my head forward and looking down at the ground, hunching my shoulders slightly. I know he didn't mean it offensively it was just a general question after all so I didn't take it to heart or take it offensively even though other people may have. I could feel two pairs of eyes on me.
"I don't know…" I said to him. I felt Killua look at me slightly questionably. I couldn't help but fiddle with the sleeves of my shirt before gripping it tightly in between my fingers.
"I already had a mum. Even though she's gone now I don't think she'd be happy if I went to find someone like a mum." I said to them. I propped my elbows onto my knees and leaned my cheeks into the palm of my hands.
"Not even Sarah tried acting like a mum because as soon as she tried big brother asked her not to. So she's a friend to us." I said to them as I sighed to myself, half closing my eyes.
"I don't think she'll be happy if I had two mums, but I guess I really do miss having a mum sometimes…" I said, trailing off in my sentence. I lifted my head out from my hands and looked at the two smiling widely with furrowed brows.
"But I wouldn't ever tell big brother that, he might scold me." I said to them laughing slightly at the end of my sentence. I turned my head back away from them and looked at the dirt on the floor between my crossed legs. I had hunched my shoulders together as I stared at the dirt, my eyes half closed and brows furrowed. I could feel my eyes glaze over and screwed my eyes tightly shut holding it back. I wanted to cry; but I didn't want to try in front of them.
"I think she'd want you to be happy." Gon said making me snap my head up and looked at him wide eyed. He smiled widely back as Killua smiled a little bit himself, nodding his head.
"Gon's right, any normal mum would want their kid to be happy." Killua said, closing his eyes as he leaned his head back, a smug tone in his voice as if he knew it all. I looked between the two as Gon nodded his head.
"She'll always be your mum, but I don't think she'll be mad if you found another mum because she knows you'll always remember her." Gon said, continuing to smile widely. I looked at two of them wide eyed with my mouth slightly open before closing my mouth and eyes and nodding my head slightly with a small smile.
"Yeah." I said to them, holding onto my shirt sleeves tighter.

The three of us had decided to head back to Gon's house. We talked about more light hearted stuff. Once we got back, Mito had handed me and Killua some blankets to set up in Gon's room. The two of us quickly made our way to Gon's room as Gon tidied up in the kitchen. We quickly took off our shoes and tucked them away by the wall so that we wouldn't trip over them. Killua laid his blanket by the foot of Gon's bed as I laid my next to Killua's but left enough space for us to walk around. Once our blankets were straightened out we placed our hands on our hips and looked at each other, nodding slightly with wide smiles on our faces. The two of us waited for Gon to come up from upstairs. We played a couple of games, mostly just the game where one of you hold your hands together and the other person has to slap your hands. Killua always won that one and I always lost; he was too fast. In the end, Killua ended up sleeping in Gon's bed as I slept on the floor where Killua was meant to be sleeping. All I could hear was Killua's snoring, but I still managed to sleep through it.

The morning soon came and we were up bright and early. The window was open. I could hear the birds tweeting and the sea clashing against the Island, it was actually really pleasant. We folded up the blankets and neatly put them away again. The three of us sat in a circle with our legs crossed. Gon showed me and Killua a small box and explained that it was his dad and everything that Mito told him last night about his dad that she knew. Gon leaned back on his hands as Killua turned the box looking at it.
"Oh? I see. So this is the box." Killua said looking at in confused. He handed it to me. I looked at it, raising an eyebrow slightly.
"I wonder what could be inside." I said looking at it confused. Killua took the box out of my hand again and moved it around some more before holding it into the air confused.
"How do you open it?" He questioned, holding it in the air with one hand.
"Yeah, I tried a bunch of methods, but it wouldn't open." Gon said to us as we continued to stare at the box confused. Killua smirked and held it between his fingers as he looked at Gon.
"Mind if I use force?" Killua asked him. Gon leaned forward slightly, putting his hands onto his crossed ankles.
"Go ahead." He said, looking at Killua with wide eyes. I stared at Killua myself, wondering what he meant about using force.
"Okay." Killua said and then tried twisting the box in half. Some of the veins in his arms started showing making me pull a face; that wasn't pleasant. Killua pulled a long face with his teeth gritted together as he glared at the box, trying to twist it in half.
"I don't think twisting it's going to work." I said giving him a small smile. Killua looked over at me, the glare still sitting on his face.
"I just have to use more force!" He said, as he went back to trying to twist the box open again. He soon gave up and breathed heavily, his arms returning to normal. Killua looked at the box wide eyed again.
"It's no use. This is no ordinary box. I should be able to twist open an ordinary steel box." Killua said holding the box with one hand. Me and Gon nodded agreeing with him; as only Killua was capable of doing something like that. He then began waving the box around in the air.
"And since we don't know what's inside, we can't break the box. It's not making a sound." Killua said as he continued to wave the box, before stopping and glaring at it.

Gon began thinking to himself as I did the same. We couldn't burn a hole through it because we didn't know what was inside; just like breaking it wasn't an option. Gon placed his finger and thumb onto his chin as he closed his eyes, thinking more to himself.
"You dad said to give this to you once you became a Hunter, right?" Killua asked him as Gon nodded his head.
"Yeah, that's what I heard." Gon replied to him. I thought to myself slightly and looked back at the two boys. Killua began tossing it up and down into the air as me and Gon continued to think on what Gon's dad could have meant.
"Once you become a Hunter…" Killua muttered as the box continued to be tossed into the air. Killua jumped slightly and caught the box in his hand, smirking at it.
"I get it… I figured it out!" Killua said to us, making the birds fly away from the window seal.
"Gon, there's one thing we haven't tried yet!" Killua said as the three of us leaned in. Gon and I looked at him questionably as Killua held the box up with his hand.
"Something you have as a Hunter that you didn't have before." Killua spoke, saying it in a riddle. I furrowed my brows at him; I wasn't good at riddles at all.
"Oh, I know!" Gon said, getting what Killua meant. I looked between the two, pulling a face with my brows furrowed.
"I don't get it!" I said to the two. Killua dropped his eyes at me looking at me through half closed eyes and a slightly annoyed look on his face. I was about to ask him what was with the face until Gon spoke up holding up his Hunter License card.
"My Hunter License! But there isn't an opening for the card…" Gon said as he took the box and stared at it hard with the Hunter License in another hand. I quickly got up and walked over to my bag, my bare feet padding across Gon's floor. I took out my Hunter License card and walked back over to the boys, holding it out to Gon.
"Maybe it needs more than one!" I said to him with a determined look. Gon smiled widely and nodded his head, taking my card as he continued to look at the box confused.
"But that still doesn't mean there's an opening…" He said trailing off as I thought to myself. Killua looked at the both of us annoyed, his hands on his crossed ankles and shoulders slightly hunched together as he stared at us. Killua then dropped his head in defeat.
"No, that isn't it." He said to us making me look at him. I thought about it some more, wondering what it could be. Something we didn't have before…why did he have to put it into a riddle?!
"I meant Nen…" Killua said muttering in defeat to us as he brought his head up a little bit. Me and Gon looked at Killua feeling embarrassed, it showed more on Gon as his cheeks turned red from embarrassment.

Gon handed me back my Hunter card and placed his on the floor next to him. I quickly walked over to my bag and dropped it into a side pocket then jogged back over to Gon and Killua. He held the box with both his hands and began concentrating his Nen. He stared hard at the box and focused more Nen. The box began glowing blue making Gon drop it in panic. The three of us stood up and moved slightly away from the box, watching the room fill up with a blue glowing light. It then shattered into pieces. Another box was under it. This one was purple and green in colour with red shapes on each face of the square.
"There's another box inside." Gon said amazed as Killua nodded his head. I looked at the bits of old box as Killua bent down and poked one, before picking it up off the floor and looking at it closer.
"They are just steel plates. It appears nothing was connecting them." Killua said as I looked at him questionably.
"Maybe Nen was connecting them?" I asked him. Killua looked at the steel plate with wide eyes.
"What is it?" Gon asked making Killua chuck the plate towards him. I walked over next to Gon to see what Killua saw.
"Doesn't that design look familiar?" Killua asked us as we looked at the design. It looked a little similar, and I vaguely remember seeing it somewhere; but where I didn't know. Gon jumped, remembering where he saw it.
"I know! This is like the pattern on the promise thread Wing gave me." Gon said as I looked closer at the design.
"Hey you're right." I said to him, taking the plate lightly out of his hand and looking at it myself. Killua placed a hand onto his chin and looked towards the floor in thought.
"Wasn't that designed to snap if Nen was used?" Killua asked as me and Gon looked at him with wide eyes.
"So I was right?" I asked Killua as he nodded his head slightly before bending down and picking up another steel plate.
"Maybe. I bet this pattern holds a similar power to Nen." Killua said as Gon took the steel plate out from between my fingers and looked at it hard again. Gon bent down and picked up his Hunter card then stood up straight. He looked at Killua and began speaking, making Killua look up to him.
"Maybe we're supposed to put the card in here now." Gon asked looking back at the new box and holding up his Hunter card. Gon slipped in his Hunter card making it glow a quick burst of yellow and then open up; the red shapes clicking outwards. Killua stood up and quickly stood on the other side of Gon, smiling widely as I looked at it wide eyed.
"It worked!" Gon said happily.
"Bingo." Killua said as the three of us looked at each other and smiled widely.

Gon sat the opened box onto the floor. The three of us sat in front of it with our legs crossed. Gon was in the middle of me and Killua as we stared at the open box.
"A ring and a cassette tape…" Gon said trailing off as we looked at the contents.
"And a memory card?" Killua questioned the box and us. He quickly picked up the ring and held it between his finger and thumb, lifting it up for me and Gon to try and get a closer look at it ourselves.
"Look. That pattern is on the back of this ring. You should take care before you put it on." Killua said to Gon looking at sternly. Gon looked back at Killua quickly before looking back at the ring with wide eyes and a confused gaze.
"Really? You think that Ging might try to hurt me?" Gon questioned him. I couldn't help but shrug my shoulders slightly.
"No one ever knows." I said to him as Killua nodded his head agreeing with me.
"Just to be safe." Killua said as I nodded my head. Gon stood up and began walking away from the box. I watched Gon carefully with my hands on my crossed ankles as he walked over to his wardrobe.
"Well, we can start by listening to the tape." Gon said and opened up his wardrobe.
"I guess. Oh, can you copy it?" Killua asked looking over to Gon. Killua looked over to us over his shoulder as he held one of the doors open.
"Sure, why?" He asked him slightly confused.
"Just to be safe." Killua repeated with a smirk on his face.

Gon got out a tape player and walked back to us. He placed it in front of me and Killua then plugged it into the wall. Getting onto his hands and knees, Gon pushed the tape into the tape holder then shut the lid and pressed the play button. The tape began whirling around as I continued to sit crossed legged and held onto my crossed ankles. Killua sat with his arms crossed as he glared at the tape player. Gon stayed on his hands and knees. After a while of no sound we stared confused at the tape and tape player.
"Yo, Gon…" A voice said, breaking the silence. Gon looked at the tape shocked as I stared at it surprised.
"Hey it really does work." I muttered to them as Killua nodded his head. I saw the birds look over to us from the corner of my eyes; even they had stopped doing bird things to listen to the tape.
"So you became a Hunter, too. Anyway, I have a question for you. Do you want to see me?" The tape asked Gon. Silence fell between the three of us as we stared at the tape; it was almost as if it had red Gon's mind.

Author note – Whilst it's uncommon in Japan for girls and boys to bathe together it's not unheard of at young ages. There are public bathes that allow multi-sex bathing as long as a towel is worn. So I went by this strategy.

I kick myself for writing a feely paragraph or two.
