A big thank you to Anime lover, Rina Dragonfly and all silent readers!
Anime lover – Ah, I been playing that none stop myself, spent about 30,000 Pokémon money just cutting and dying hair. That and I've been playing Animal crossing.
Rina Dragonfly – Yeah I was having a really bad day yesterday so it came out much more depressing than I had hoped. I'm glad you found it heart-warming at the end though.

Whew.
We continued to stare at the tape in silence, wondering what else it could say.
"If you do, keep on listening. If you don't, press the stop button." The voice said. The three of us left the cassette alone, leaving a little pause before the voice spoke again.
"I'm guessing that's a "yes". Then I'll ask you once more. Are you prepared? Hunters are selfish creatures. They're willing to sacrifice anything to get what they want. If you're only slightly interested in seeing me, you should stop the tape right now. I'll give you a minute to consider it." The voice said through the tape. Me and Killua looked at Gon, Killua sat up straight with his arms crossed over his chest, looking at Gon.
"Well?" Killua asked him before going wide eyed and then smiling afterwards. Gon's face had one of determination, he wanted to see he's father a lot. I smiled myself, and looked back at the tape.
"I guess you really do want to see me. But I don't want to see you." The voice said taking us all back by surprise. I furrowed my brows, that was an awful thing to say to your son over a cassette tape.
"I don't know how I could face you now. After all, I chose my own desires over my parental duty. I'm a bad person." He said, as we looked at the tape sternly. I didn't know what to think, he said himself Hunters were selfish people and that he was a bad person; but maybe he had a reason? I decided to push the thoughts to the back of my mind. The birds had left the window seal as we continued to listen to the tape.
"I'm guessing that by the time you hear this tape, at least ten years will have passed. But one thing still hasn't changed. I'm still me. As you listen to this tape, I'm off doing reckless things. If you want to see me, find me. But as I said before, I don't want to see you. If I sense you nearby, I'll make myself scarce. Catch me if you can. You're a Hunter, aren't you?" The voice said, making the tape end.
I sighed slightly to myself, dropping my head and closing my eyes. My brows furrowed as my face faced the ground.
"It's like playing cat and mouse." I said to them, before bringing my head up and looking over to Gon, keeping my hands on my crossed ankles. Killua looked after to Gon himself.
"You dad isn't gonna be easy to track." Killua said smiling as Gon smiled back. Killua shifted himself forward to turn off the tap.
"Oh, wait…" Gon said making Killua look back at Gon and stop going to push the button. Gon looked over to the tape.
"Ging's still there." Gon said, making me and Killua look back at the tape. It continued rolling as we stared at it.
"Oh, I forgot to mention something… It's about your mother." Ging said, taking us all back by surprise once more. This man seemed to be full of surprises.
"If you want to know more, keeping listening. If you're not interested…" Ging said, making Gon switch off the tape. We both looked at Gon slightly surprised by his actions. Gon sat back onto his legs, putting his hand back onto his thigh as he stared at the tape.
"Are you sure?" Killua asked him, turning his head towards him. Gon nodded his head in reply, a small smile on his face.
"But he might have left you a clue." Killua said to him, still trying to get his head around why Gon wouldn't choose to listen on.
"Or tell you what happened to her." I said to him, confused myself.
"I doubt it. That's what my gut tells me. Besides, I already told you both… My mum is Aunt Mito." Gon said, smiling widely with a small nod on his head. I couldn't help but smile back slightly myself, he was sure of his words.
"I see." Killua said simply.
Gon stood up as me and Killua stayed sitting on the floor. He looked at the two of us on the floor, keeping the wide smile on his face.
"Are you two hungry? I'll go grab something." Gon said. I nodded my head and began standing up myself, stretching my hands over my head.
"I'll come help." I said to Gon. He nodded his head. The two of us started making our way towards the door, until Killua stopped us both.
"Hey, Gon, Mishka! The tape started moving all by itself!" Killua said making me turn around quickly on the balls of my feet. I looked at the tape player wide eyed.
"No way!" I said, quickly running back over and sitting in front of it onto my legs. Gon looked over his shoulder and suddenly jumped.
"What?!" He shouted and ran back over himself, sitting in the middle of me and Killua. An aura steamed off the tape player. I looked at it shocked while Gon and Killua looked at it angrily.
"There's aura around the tape player!" Gon said bitterly but also angrily.
"It's Nen!" I said looking at the tape wide eyed, wondering how that could even be possible. None of us were doing it.
"Nen is rewinding the cassette!" Killua said shocked himself. Gon looked between the two of us, confusion written all over his face.
"Nen? Is he nearby?" Gon said, looking over to the window. I looked over to the window myself. I couldn't see anyone and I couldn't feel anyone else around; so that probably wasn't the answer. Then…why was the tape rewinding by itself.
"No, he infused this player with Nen over ten years ago! So it would start rewinding, once it was stopped!" Killua explained to the two of us. How did Killua know that? Or did he just know a lot more about Nen than me and Gon. Me and Gon looked back at the player, Gon looking less confused than before. I looked at it in disbelief; there was so much of Nen I didn't understand.
"Why?" Gon questioned, making Killua close his eyes.
"Beats me." Killua said, opening his eyes and looking back at the player.
We continued to watch the player. It stopped rewinding. Soon the red button on the top of the player pushed down by itself, making the tape move forward once more.
"Now it's recording! I get it! He's erasing his message!" Killua said, leaning forward. Gon looked at Killua shocked.
"What?" Gon said to him surprised. Gon leaned forward and tried pressing the stop button, but it wouldn't budge.
"It's not working! I can't stop it… Damn!" Gon said, standing up angrily. He quickly jogged over to the plug and pulled out the plug from the wall. The tape continued to move forward though, erasing the message that was left for Gon; as if it had its own power supply.
"It still won't stop!" Killua shouted over as the two of us continued watching the tape. Gon looked at the plug.
"I pulled the plug!" Gon said surprised. Killua grabbed the tape player by the handle and stood up, holding the tape player away from him.
"Sorry, Gon. I'll have to break it!" Killua said, throwing it into the air slightly and then punching it hard. The tape player flew across the room and hit Gon's wardrobe doors hard. It didn't break though.
"It's indestructible!" I said to the two boys, looking over my shoulder surprised that Killua wasn't able to break it.
"Damn! No good! There's Nen protecting the player!" Killua said, running over to it. I stood up myself, trying to think on what to do as Killua began kicking down onto the player. Gon walked over next to me as we watched Killua beating on the player. With one last punch he stood up and fell backwards onto his bottom, leaning onto his hands behind him. The tape player recorded for a few more seconds before finally it stopped rolling forward. The three of us stared at it in shock and disbelief.
"It's finished." Gon said simply. Killua sighed to himself and dropped his head.
"He really had it planned out." I said to them as we continued to look at the tape player.
Gon walked over to the tape player and picked it up by the metal handle. He walked back over to where it sat before and sat it onto the ground again, then he picked up the plug and pushed it back into the wall. Me and Killua sat on the floor, Killua sitting with his legs crossed as I sat with my feet together and hands onto the side of my feet. Gon walked over to us. He sat next to Killua onto his legs once more. I leaned forward and pressed the player button. I returned my hand to the sides of my feet as we listened to the tape.
"Now it's recording! I get it! He's erasing his message!" Killua voiced played back.
"No way!" My voice played back.
"What?!" Gon's played back. Killua stopped the tape and then pressed the button to release the other tape we put in to record the message in the first place. He took out the tape and looked at it angrily.
"The other tape was also wiped." Killua said, tossing the tape into the air. The three of us watched the tape flip in the air, before falling back into Killua's hand.
"Why would he go through all this trouble?" Gon asked us. I couldn't help but shrug my shoulders a little, not really knowing the answer myself.
"I'm guessing he didn't want to leave any clues." Killua said, turning his head towards Gon. I shifted myself I little, sitting at the side of the tape player so I could look at the two better.
"Clues?" Gon asked, making me think to myself a little bit more. Killua looked back at the tape, keeping a firm grip of it into the palm of his hand.
"You can extract a lot of information from an audio clip." Killua said making me and Gon look at him in surprise.
"Really?" We both asked him. He looked between us both, keeping the tape in his hand.
"You can determine the speaker's height, weight, gender, age, facial features, chronic diseases, and state of mind." Killua explained to us both. Me and Gon looked at him wide eyed.
"All that from just a voice?" I asked him. Killua nodded his head, as he began his explanation once more.
"From the background noise, you can determine the location. But he was more worried about something else." Killua said to us, putting the tape down into his lap.
"Something else?" Gon questioned him as we continued to watch Killua with wide eyes but also confusion on our faces.
"Nen. I wouldn't be surprised if there were a Nen user somewhere who could analyse data better than a machine. Someone who would know everything about a person just from hearing their voice." Killua said, extending his hand and pointing it at Gon's chin. Gon went crossed eyed as he looked at Killua's finger, then looked back at Killua through the tops of his eyes.
"Oh, I get it." Gon said to him as I nodded my head agreeing. That person would probably be someone like Hisoka; he seemed to know a lot about everyone.
"Your dad's a tough nut." Killua said as he dropped his hand away from Gon's chin. Gon nodded his head agreeing with Killua.
I watched the two as Killua picked up the tape again and looked at it, keeping his free left hand on his left knee.
"Since the tape's useless now, we only have two clues left…" Killua said furrowing his brows as he looked back at the open box. The box only had a memory card and the ring inside it now.
"The ring and the memory card." I said to the two, thinking to myself. I don't think we'd be able to use the memory card unless we had a computer or laptop or something that could read memory cards. It didn't look like if Gon owned a computer or laptop anywhere though.
"I doubt the ring will help, but the memory card could be very important." Killua said as we sat in a circle, looking into the box.
"Yeah, it's smaller than a normal memory card. Maybe you need a special machine to use it?" Gon questioned, looking at Killua.
"Like a computer or laptop like Pokkle had?" I asked the two as Gon nodded his head before looking back at Killua for an answer. Killua seemed to know everything about these things at the moment, so he was our best bet.
"Huh? You can't tell? This memory card only works with the JS." Killua said making me and Gon furrow our brows in confusion. Killua picked up the memory card between his finger and thumb as he looked at us surprised.
"The JS?" Gon questioned as we looked at him confused. What was "the JS"?
"A gaming console called the JoyStation. It's three generations old." Killua said, giving the memory card to Gon who took it between his finger and thumb. I furrowed my brows slightly looking at the memory card confused.
"I never had anything like that…" I said to him, trailing off in my sentence. When I was little I always played outside with Kurapika and Pairo, or read indoors in the weather was terrible. After the massacre, me and my brother just travelled a lot; so we didn't really have time to play anything like that.
"You two don't know anything, do you?" Killua asked us, sighing in his question. Killua looked down and clenched his fist putting it near his face with a determined look on his face.
"If the Island still has tape players, it probably has a console. Is there a toy store here?" Killua said determined as he looked at Gon with a wide smile.
"Yeah, there is." Gon said to him. Killua began standing up.
"Okay, hold on." Killua said to us. He walked over to the door and quickly pulled his trainers on before going downstairs.
Me and Gon looked at each other briefly before smiling widely. It was probably best that Killua went by himself as it seemed like me and Gon had no clue what we were looking for.
"Do you think Killua knows where it is?" I question Gon making him shake his head with a small smile.
"Probably not." He said as he picked up the box and began walking towards the window. I followed behind Gon and looked out at the window with him. Killua was beginning to walk down the hill, well it was more of an awkward jog; I didn't get how anyone could jog or run with their hands in their pockets.
"It's outside the port!" Gon shouted from the window.
"Got it!" Killua shouted back, not looking back at us. Mito looked up confused as to what was going on. I looked down myself and smiled widely at her, waving my hand at her through the window. I got a small smile and a little wave back.
"Have a safe trip!" Gon shouted over as I looked back to Killua's retreating back and waved my arm, waving goodbye. Sure he couldn't see, but it was a force of habit now really.
Killua came back about an hour later. Me and Gon had been entering ourselves with the hand game me and Killua was playing last night. I had more of a chance against Gon. In the end, Gon had six points and I had three. Killua had entered the room and quickly took of his shoes. He had two boxes in his hands. One said "JoyStation" the other said "Laptop". Killua quickly unpacked the laptop and placed it onto Gon's desk. He then walked over to us and kneeled down, putting the box next to him. Gon quickly walked over to his wardrobe and pulled out a small TV. He plugged it into the wall. Killua unpacked the box as me and Gon looked at him interested to see what was inside. Killua connected everything to the console quickly, and even plugs it into the wall. The thing he unpacked was a grey looked rectangle box. On top of the grey box was red written saying "JoyStation". The leads were black. The controllers were shaped to fit easily into the palm of your hands. There were four round black buttons in a diamond shape, for square buttons in a diamond shape and two black sticks with flat tops near the buttons. Me and Gon sat on either side of Killua, all of us had our legs crossed.
"So this is a JoyStation…" Gon said trailing off, as he put his hands onto his ankles.
"It's a lot smaller than I thought it'd be." I said looking at it wide eyed. Killua picked up the machine in his hands as he looked at it with a determined smile.
"This brings back memories. I used to play with these all the time. There were a bunch of hidden gems for this console." Killua said looking between me and Gon again. He placed the console back onto the floor as Gon held up the memory card once more between his finger and thumb.
"Then is this memory card one of those hidden gems? I don't see a title anywhere." Gon said, turning the memory card around in his fingers.
"It sounds really cool. But it makes me a little afraid to use it in case it breaks." I said, smiling slightly with my brows knitted together. I leaned forward on my hands that sat flatly against the ground between my legs.
Killua walked round on his knees to the TV with some more cables in his hands. He started connecting them into the side of TV.
"You two never played video games, have you? That's unusual." Killua asked us then said to us. I looked at him surprised as Gon looked at him wide eyed.
"Really?" Both of us asked him at the same time. Killua moved back over to us on his hands and knees.
"That isn't a game disc. It holds a game's memory data." Killua said, pointing to the memory card. Both me and Gon looked back at the memory card once more, this was all very new for the both of us it would seem.
"So you can't use it to play." Gon said as I nodded my head. Killua crawled back over to the game console and pressed one of the black buttons. It made one side the console open. I looked at it wide eyed.
"You broke it!" I said to him. Killua shook his head as he began explaining.
"No, you're supposed to put the disc in here." Killua said and then closed the flap once more, putting it back to together. I continued to watch him in surprise; maybe the console was indestructible like the tape player.
"But if you insert the memory card and power it on without a game inside, you can see which games are using that memory." Killua said as he gently took the memory card from Gon's fingers and slotted it inside a gap on the front of the console. He then pressed a button turning it on. The TV lit up green as me and Gon stared at it wide eyed and amazed.
"Oh, really…" Gon said as Killua took the controller.
"That's really clever." I said, as the three of us never took our eyes off the screen.
Killua started pressing the buttons on the controller, bringing up another screen. It was filled with little squares; all of them had a red circle that looked like a snake curling round.
"It looks like there's only one game saved on it. It's called Greed Island." Killua said to us. I looked at the screen confused, what was Greed Island? Did all games have funny titles like that?
"Greed Island?" Gon questioned himself, just as confused as I was.
"Anyway, there are a bunch of saves. I doubt it'll do any good but I'll copy the data just in case." Killua said looking at another memory card that came with the console.
"You can do that on this machine?!" I asked surprised, making Killua nod his head. He slotted in the black memory card into an empty slot next to the blue one. He pressed a couple more buttons.
"Copying Greed Island." A woman's voice said through the TV. Killua stood up making me and Gon watch him closely.
"Okay." He said as he walked back over to the laptop he had set up earlier. He turned it on, it made a noise indicating it was on. Gon leaned back on his hands as I leaned forward onto my hands, watching Killua as he typed something on the keyboard.
"What are you doing?" Gon asked him.
"Searching on-line." Killua said simply as he continued typing.
"For what?" I asked him confused myself.
"We know the game's name. So I'm looking for a store that sells it." Killua said as he continued typing away on the keyboard. Me and Gon looked at each other slightly confused before looking back at Killua, who seemed angry at the screen as a yellow box appeared on it.
"What?! Not a single match?" Killua said angrily.
Me and Gon stood up and walked over to Killua, looking at the screen ourselves. We stood either side of Killua.
"Does that mean it's out of print?" Gon asked him confused. This whole gaming thing sounded so complicated to me. Killua began typing on the keyboard again.
"There aren't any used copies… An out-of-print game would still have some used copies floating around." Killua explained to us, lifting a hand away from the keyboard and placing it onto his chin as he thought to himself.
"It's possible that this game isn't for sale." Killua explained to us. Gon and I looked at Killua, confused still by what he meant; what type of game wasn't for sale? Ging had loads of saved copies on a memory card.
"What do you mean?" Gon asked him as we watched Killua waiting for an explanation.
"It could be an indie game that was never for sale or was banned for some reason. Anyway, I'll keep searching." Killua said going back to typing on the keyboard. What was an indie game?! There was more than one type of game? That's what it sounded like by Killua's explanation.
"Gaming sounds confusing…" I said trailing off as Gon nodded his head, agreeing with my statement. It seemed only Killua got the whole gaming thing.
We watched as Killua continued typing on the keyboard. He stopped once he found something.
"There we go. This game was sold through legitimate channels." Killua said as I looked at the screen confused. Legitimate channels? What were those? This was adding more and more confusion to the whole gaming world.
"Greed Island. I hunting game for Hunters." Gon read.
"A hunting game?" I asked confused, staring at the screen confused as Killua scrolled down, looking at more of the information.
"For Hunters? And what's with that price tag?! Five hundred, eighty million?!" Gon yelled looking at the price shocked.
"Eh?!" I said going wide eyed at the price.
"It's five billion, eighty million!" Killua yelled back.
"EH!?" I said even louder, that didn't sound any better.
"Huh?" Gon said, looking at Killua in pure shock. That was a lot of money to spend on a game, especially one that game out in nineteen eighty seven! That was really old! We stared at the screen wide eyed as Killua slammed his hands on the desk, looking at the screen angrily.
"That's ridiculous!" Killua said as I nodded my head.
"It was made back in nineteen eighty seven! That's a lot for a really old game!" I said as Gon leaned forward looking at more on the information.
"Only a hundred copies were produced. That isn't very many." Gon said as I nodded my head.
"It's practically nothing! The developers were cocky…The number is way too low!" Killua yelled, frustrated by our newly found information. He looked back at the screen once more, having calmed down slightly.
"But it makes sense. The price is ridiculous but Hunters, can afford it. That explains how they sold out." Killua explained. Me and Gon looked back at Killua, having calmed down slightly ourselves.
"Do the makers have any left in stock?" Gon asked him. Killua looked back at Gon quickly.
"Yeah, I guess we could ask." Killua said. I nodded my head agreeing.
"It can't help to ask." I said to them.
Killua pulled out a purple phone from his pocket. The buttons were different colours. I looked at him confused, when did he get a phone?! That explains why he took an hour if he was out buying other things as well. Killua typed in the number that was on the screen and asked about the game. Me and Gon had decided to take a seat on the floor cross legged as Killua pulled up the desk chair and sat in it. We watched Killua closely as he spoke on the phone.
"I see, thanks." Killua said and pressed a button ending the call. He swivelled in the chair facing us.
"That's a no-go." Killua said to us. I sighed slightly and dropped my head looking at the ground with my eyes closed. It kind of felt like we had hit a brick wall when it came to finding Ging. Gon crossed his arms as he looked at the ground thinking to himself.
"I guess we'll have to find someone with a copy and ask them to let us have it." Gon said as I brought my head up to look at him. Killua swivelled the chair around fully, looking at the two of us.
"Yeah, our best bet is to advertise on a reverse auction website and wait for someone to offer to sell us a copy." Killua suggested making me and Gon look up to him.
"But where will we get the money?" Gon asked as I nodded my head.
"They'll want a lot for it if there weren't many copies in the first place." I said to him. Killua looked at the purple phone in his hand and pressed a few buttons.
"If we pool our money from the arena, that's eight hundred million." Killua said. We had a lot together, but not enough to buy that game.
"Then we need another five billion…" Gon said trailing off making me nod my head.
"That's so much." I said to them, sighing slightly to myself and furrowing my brows. So much money just for one game. Gaming seemed like a very expensive habit; one I don't think I'd be going into too much. I was happy with reading.
"Not necessarily. With these private deals, the seller holds all the power. Typically, they'll ask for more than the original price." Killua explained, pocketing his phone. Asking for more didn't sound very good.
"So it'll cost even more?" Gon asked shocked.
"Maybe." Killua said simply to us, as if it was nothing.
"Gaming sounds like such an expensive habit." I said to them as Killua shook his head.
"Not all games are that price, just this one." He said back to me.
The three of us leaned our heads back and closed our eyes, murmuring to ourselves about the price of this one game. Gon stood up and walked over to the laptop himself. He began typing on it.
"Well, we can post a want as, just in case." Gon said. I stood up myself and stretched my arms above my head as I walked over next to Gon, watching what he was doing. Killua stayed seated in the chair as we watched Gon type.
"Yeah, but I doubt anyone will click it." Killua said to him as he closed his eyes. I looked over to Killua smiling slightly.
"It doesn't hurt to do it anyway. We might get lucky." I said to him, smiling a little bit wider. Gon continued typing on the keyboard as he read out what he was typing.
""Looking for the game Greed Island. Price negotiable."" Gon typed into the box on the screen. He pressed the enter key. Soon, the number one appeared on the screen. Then two. The three of us looked at the screen with wide eyes. Soon the number starting going up into the hundreds and then into the thousands and then into the ten thousands! It just kept going up.
"Wh-what? We already have over ten thousand hits!" Gon said as we continued to look at the screen.
"But there were only one hundred copies, why would it go up so quickly?" I asked looking at the number of hits going up and up even more.
"So that's it… They're trying to foist counterfeits off on us. That should have been obvious, considering the price." Killua explained to us as the hit number kept going up. He crossed his arms, looking quite angry at the fact being were going to try and sell us illegal copies of this one game.
"This plan is a wash. We can't examine every single offer. Besides, we can't even tell if it's the real game." Killua said, getting up off the desk chair and walking away with his hands in the air. He flopped himself on the bed and leaned back on his hands closing his eyes.
I watched him carefully before looking back at the screen watching the hits continue to rise.
"Then what should we do?" Gon asked as he turned around to face Killua. Killua opened his eyes as he looked back at Gon.
"If we dig more deeply on-line, we might uncover more information. But I'm not too familiar with that stuff." Killua suggested before closing his eyes and looking up again.
"Is there anyone who knows a bunch about games and the Net?" Gon asked him as I turned around myself and leaned back onto the desk slightly, the palms of my hands pressed against the edge of the desk. Killua opened his eyes at the thought.
"Oh, there's someone who knows a lot about both. He might even own a copy of Greed Island." Killua said, looking back at the both of us. He didn't look too happy when he was talking about the first part. Gon quickly wondered over as Killua slipped off the bed and back onto the floor.
"Huh? Really?" Gon asked him happily and excitedly. I walked over myself and stood next to Gon. I bent down slightly with my hands on my knees looking at Killua. Gon got onto his knees as we stayed behind Killua, Gon with the wide smile on his face and me with a interested and wide eyed expression.
"But I don't want to ask him…" Killua said as he began digging out his phone from his pocket again.
"Who is it?" Both and Gon asked him excitedly. Killua pressed a button on the phone and brought it close to his ear.
"Oh, Gotoh? It's Killua." Killua said down the phone. Me and Gon looked at each other slightly confused.
"Gotoh?" We both questioned and looked back to Killua as he continued to talk on the phone.
"Yeah, I'm doing fine. Right now? Who cares where I am? If I tell you, my mother might find out. Anyway, put Piggy on." Killua said as me and Gon looked at each other once more.
"Piggy?" We both questioned each other and thought to ourselves. I could only picture was a little pink pig with a short curly tail and black bead like eyes rolling about in the mud, squealing to itself in pure bliss. Why would Killua want to talk to a pig?
Me and Gon looked back at Killua after we had a thought about who Killua could be talking about. I don't think either of us managed to work out who Killua might even be referring to.
"Don't lie! He never goes outside! Tell him if he doesn't answer the phone in ten seconds, I'll break all his figures!" Killua yelled down the phone angrily. Me and Gon looked at each other even more confused than we already were; our brows knitted together.
"Figures?" We both questioned at the same time before looking back at Killua. What kind of cute little piggy owned figures? Killua's family was really, really strange; keeping a pig and allowed the pig to have figures. Figures of what though? Killua smiled to himself as he began speaking on the phone again.
"I was just kidding, Bro. You don't have to get so mad." Killua said happily to him. Me and Gon looked at each other one more time, this time not as shocked.
"Bro?" We both questioned and looked back at Killua. Killua said he didn't want to talk to him and his brother was Illumi who had a thing for pins…I felt a chill run up my spine and frowned widely to himself, pulling a face. I didn't blame him if he didn't want to talk to him; I wouldn't. Illumi was quite scary and really creepy.
"Have you heard of Green Island?" Killua asked down the phone. The room went silent again as Killua was listening to "Piggy" talk on the phone.
"You don't own a copy?" Killua asked as me and Gon continued to watch him. Killua looked at his phone through the corner of his eyes as the room stayed silent.
"Pretty much. Oh? You gave up because it was beyond your ability? Ah, so tell me this lead you have." Killua said. I looked at him in shock. Killua was gutsy that was for sure, asking for Illumi by calling him piggy then making fun of his ability to find anything. From what I got, that was a death wish right there with Illumi.
"Will you trade for a Greed Island memory card? I happened to get my hands on a memory card. You can probably decipher the data and recreate the game, right? I don't lie when I make deals." Killua said as me and Gon continued watching him. Killua seemed to be really skilled with making deals with Illumi, it was actually a little bit frightening.
"Hold on… Don't say anything over the phone! Yeah. Yeah, I see. Okay, got it. I'll send you the memory card through the usual method." Killua said down the phone.
He pressed a button ending the call. Pocketing the phone he looked back at me and Gon, who had moved away from him to give him a bit of privacy on the phone. Gon sat on his legs with his hands on his tights as I sat with the soles of my feet together and hands on the sides of my feet. Killua placed a hand onto his ankle and then held another into the air.
"Sorry. I ended up trading the copy of the memory card." Killua said looking at us. Gon smiled widely at him.
"Sure, that's fine. It's just a copy." Gon said to him happily. As long as it wasn't the original copy, than I don't think there would be that much of a problem. Killua laid his hand onto his ankle as we looked at the two of us.
"In return, I got two pieces of solid information. First, there's a website for Hunters, only accessible by Hunters. You can probably find leads on Greed Island there." Killua said with a grin on his face.
"Really? I'll have to use my Hunter Licence." Gon said, digging his card from out of his pocket and holding it into the air. I thought quickly and looked over to Gon, smiling widely.
"Actually, do you mind if we use mine?" I asked him as he looked at me slightly confused. Killua looked as if he knew what I was thinking.
"If someone traces back the Hunter Licence code, it'll lead back to me which makes sense as it makes it seem like I'm looking for the Phantom Troupe. If they traced it back to you then it wouldn't make sense and would lead to a lot of questions." I said to him, smiling widely. Gon thought about it for a minute before nodding his head, smiling widely.
"Yeah, that makes sense." He said as Killua nodded his head as well, knowing that that was where I was getting at. We wanted to make it look as least suspicious as possible, after all, Ging was going to be hard to find and there must have been a reason for taking such extreme measures like re-recording over the tap; so it made sense using my card instead of Gon's.
I stood up and walked over to my bag and opened the top. Digging through the side of it I retrieved my Hunter card and walked back over to Gon, handing it to him. He took it happily and stood up. He began walking over to the laptop with a smile on his face. Killua suddenly took up and grabbed Gon from behind, putting his arms under his arm pits keeping him in some sort of arm lock with a glare on his face.
"Idiot! If you use your home computer, they'll know your address! You'll have bad guys who want Mishka's licence showing up on the island!" Killua said as he walked backwards, forcing Gon to do the same. I furrowed my brows slightly as Gon looked confused. Gon got out of Killua's arm lock and thought quickly, before turning back around.
"Oh, that's right…" Gon said. I walked over to the two. Gon handed me my card again, I took it back lightly with a small smile. I kept it in my hand as Killua stood up straight, his eyes slightly wide in annoyance and his hands on his hips.
"You have to use public computers for this stuff… In a hotel or a Net Café." Killua said as Gon leaned forward rubbing the back of his head with his tongue out and brows furrowed. Gon laughed slightly as Killua crossed his arms over his chest. Gon dropped his hand back to his side again a small smile on his face.
"Well, I still don't know the address. My brother promised to tell me, once he received the memory card. The second lead is the auction in Yorknew City." Killua said holding up two fingers. Gon looked taken back as I looked at him slightly wide eyed.
A lead for the game and the Phantom Troupe were going to be there?! It was going to be a fun event that was for sure. And by fun I meant absolutely terrifying.
"What? Isn't Yorknew City…" Gon said trailing off as I furrowed my brows.
"Yes, the place we're supposed to meet Kurapika and Leorio." Killua said as I nodded my head.
"And where the Phantom Troupe are meant to be…" I said, trailing off myself as I dropped my head slightly, looking at the ground. I shifted my weight uncomfortably; everything was going to happen in Yorknew City. Killua nodded his head as he continued speaking.
"In September, the city will host the world's greatest auction. My brother said it's probably a hoax, but there's a rumour that someone will distribute dozens of copies at the auction." Killua said. I looked up at him wide eyed. Someone had dozens of copies of this one game? Why would they need dozens of copies in the first place?
"Maybe that someone is Ging." Gon said, a smile on his face. Killua smiled himself.
"Yeah, that theory make the rumour more credible." Killua explained. I smiled slightly myself seeing the two boys smile and nodded my head.
"We'll need a lot of money to buy a copy." I said to the two. Gon and Killua looked at me and nodded their heads, keeping the smiles on their faces.
"That's right…" Killua said back to me.
The sun began setting. The three of us ended up talking about whatever came to mind and how we would get to Yorknew and make money. Although we couldn't come up with any ideas at the time. Mito had called us down for dinner; I didn't even realise we had spent the whole day in Gon's bedroom; the day went by so fast. The three of us walked over to our shoes and quickly slipped them on. Gon was the first to exit his room, then Killua and me behind. We walked down the stairs and into the dining room. Mito and Gon's grandmother stood behind the table, there was so much food on the table I couldn't believe it. We walked over to the table and stood in front of it opposite it Mito and Gon's grandmother.
"Wow. There's so much food! Is something special happening?" Gon asked as me and Killua stood on either side of Gon. Mito had her hands behind her back as she smiled at the three of us.
"You won't be back for a while, right?" Mito said to Gon. The three of us looked at her, Gon looking taken back the most.
"Aunt Mito…" Gon said trailing off. Mito kept the smile on her face as she continued to look at us.
"Who knows when your next chance to eat will be? Fill up now." Mito said to him. Gon nodded his head, smiling widely at her.
"Yeah!" he said. Gon's grandmother looked up at Mito as me and Killua looked at Gon, smiling widely at him. He was so lucky having someone as nice as Mito look out for him like she did. We all took a seat around the table.
"Let's eat!" Gon, Killua and I all said at the same time.
We had eaten our dinner and gotten an early night. Our plan was to get the boat to the Azian continent so that we could go see Sarah, Kimmy and Jerome. We had managed to leave ourselves enough time to spend a couple of days there like we did with Gon's house and then start travelling to Yorknew. Yorknew was fair away, and like Whale Island, the only way we would be able to get there was by boat.
The next day came quickly. We packed everything away neatly and folded up the bed sheets. Our clothes were dry from being out on the line all day the previous day. I quickly got changed into my clean training clothes and pulled my dress tabard over my head, it felt really soft and smelt really good.
"It's so soft!" I said surprised. I kept playing about with the sleeves of my shirt, smiling widely to myself. Killua looked at me oddly as he placed his bag onto his back with Gon pulling on his trainer boots.
"What are you doing?" Killua asked. I quickly turned around and shoved my hands onto Killua's cheeks, rolling them in circles with a wide smile on my face.
"It's really soft!" I said happily to him smiling widely. Killua glared at me through his squashed up cheeks and grabbed my hands, pulling them away from his face.
"Stop doing that! We're going to be late for the boat if you keep messing around." Killua said to me sternly as he let of my hands and flicked my forehead. I closed my eyes tightly and clamped my hands over my forehead. I opened my eyes and puffed out my cheeks at him.
"Fine, fine. Didn't have to flick my forehead hard." I said turning my face away and glaring at Gon's wall. I walked over to my bag and shoes, I double checked I had everything. Clothes, weapons and my Hunter Licence; that's all I had and all I needed. The three of us went down stairs once we had everything together.
We had made our way to the port with Mito and Gon's grandmother. We climbed onto the boat after saying our goodbyes to Mito. Mito and a bunch of other people were waving us off; it was unusual for me as when I first left this port six months ago they were only waving off Gon. The boat started moving, me and Gon waved at her, I had to stand on my toes. We had wide smiles on our faces as we waved to Mito; Killua had his hands on the edge of the boat, a wide smile himself.
"Aunt Mito… I'm going to find Ging! After I've met Ging, I'll return to the Island!" Gon yelled as the boat went further and further away from the port. Gon ran to the end of the boat and placed his hands on either side of his mouth, a smile still evident on his face.
"Take care of yourself until then!" Gon yelled over. Me and Killua walked over to Gon, and looked at him, smiling widely. We looked over to the Island as it was becoming further and further away. I didn't notice before, but it really did look like a whale. I smiled widely to myself as we watched the Island disappear, heading for the Azian Continent.
I was coming back to visit, just like I promised four years ago.
