Chapter 339
During their imprisonment some heard the vampires talk. One claimed to be the legendary count Dracula. Another, called Nostroyev, claimed to have been Rasputin's lover. Their love was doomed beacause Nostroyev was an evil demon and Rasputin tried to use his power's for good. This gossip was better than just waiting around to die. Anne and Syed had been friends for years. They had tried to help children, to give them moral guidance and keep them from evil acts. They had two different religions, christianity and islam, both believed theirs was the only path to Heaven. They'd worked together before but now, with death so close, Anne and Syed feared for the other's soul. There were thurty people divided amongst these cells. The vampires only took a few people per day. Every time they came everyone felt fear. When they were taken some screamed, some begged, others walked calmly. None were ever seen again. The vampires brought more people, and food when they took others. Syed and Anne each tried to provide spiritual comfort to the other prisoners. Some accepted islam, others became "saved" by Christ. When they took Syed he performed the Shahadah, an islamic testimony of faith that is recited before death. The vampires came later that day for Anne. There was one vampire, claimed to be Dracula himself, who actually tried to save Anne. She didn't know why he was doing this. But it didn't work. Although Anne's knees were shaking she prayed until she lost conscioussness. Anne died as Kakistos drained her blood.
