Chapter 11: The Date
Natsu's POV:
Ever since that day, Lucy and I have been closer than ever, not to mention that she forgot all about Dan. I was feeling as delighted as she was, she was free. And to top that off, she kissed me on the cheek, which almost felt like heaven. Her sweet, soft lips pressed against my skin, lasting for only a moment.
Weeks have passed by, and it's been a while since she got a note. Only two so far, I honestly don't know what Cana is doing. On the plus side, it's almost Christmas break, so no work! And more Lucy and I time.
Smirking, I walked out of the house ready to go to school. I thought to myself about the date we went on the weekend of the dance.
*Flashback*
I left my house to go pick up Lucy; which I was extremely excited for because I got myself a date with her! I never expected a moment as epic like this, I thought that she would stay with that bastard, Dan. Also, not only that, Mr. Heartfilia likes me! That's a big upgrade for going out with Lucy, so I need to pick up the pace and hurry up and ask her out!
As I walked towards her house, I could already see Lucy stepping outside looking around for someone, which I suspected was me. I grinned at the thought at her waiting for me to swing by and pick her up. I finally stood before the gates of her house, as she trotted towards my direction.
Smiling happily, she came close, and pulled me into a hug. I could feel her warmth as I embraced her right back, and she looked at me with eyes full of joy. My nose was pretty good as well, so I could already smell her vanilla aroma that escaped her body. Upbeat, I was, just at the thought that she dolled herself up for this date.
I gave my regards to her father as we walked together, and I held her hand tight, using up the same excuse as before; holding her hand to protect her from other people. And part of my reasoning was because I didn't want people thinking that she was single. She actually was, but I just wanted to show her off.
We talked about everything and nothing, just merely delighted at the presence of one another. She never looked depressed or sad, let alone neutral during the date. The only expression that was given was her smiling face, full of elation and high glee. During this time, she looked sparkling, much more extravagant and beautiful than ever. I simply was thrilled that she would even hold my hand in public.
As we strolled around town, we ran into Gray and Juvia, who were on a date. Since they were going to the same movie as Lucy and I were, all four of us bought the tickets together, then walked in. Honestly, I was kind of irritated of their presence because I just wanted the day to Lucy and I, so I kinda regret meeting them and calling them over. I guess Gray felt that way also, so they sat two rows ahead of us. There was no other possible way, anyway, the movie theater was packed! It's more of a romance movie, so I guess there was probably going to be a whole lot of couples here.
I'm actually really glad it was cold in the theater. I absolutely hate the cold, so obviously I would've wanted to leave. It was really weird, though, because winter was coming close as autumn was ending, so I kinda suspected something. Anyways, I noticed that Lucy was shivering, so I lifted the arm rest that was causing distance between us, and pulled her closer to me. Ascending my arm over her shoulders, I pulled her closer, so she was huddled up beside me. At first, her face was a red as a tomato, but then she eventually calmed down as the minutes passed by. Her head was leaning against my chest, and I embraced her softly, so she wouldn't suspect that I was trying to hard. As if she were responding to my thoughts, she huddled closer to me, looking up to me and smiling.
The time we were in the theater was definitely phenomenal, and although we didn't speak, I could feel her heart beating as quick as mine's. Honestly, if we were actually a couple, I would've kissed her on the lips, because I just would like that. We were separated by Gray and Juvia, which both Lucy and I were particularly fond about. We just kept on letting our conversation go on and on, endlessly. The date ended out perfectly, we ambled around town just window-shopping, stopping at various places for Lucy to look around to. She was incredibly just full of happiness, which made me alright with the amount of shops she was visiting. After looking around, a few hours had passed by, and I was to drop Lucy off at her house.
Although the day was pretty much the best day ever, everything comes to close, and I was kinda down because of this. We ambled our way towards her house, slowly but surely. We wanted to treasure the bond that was proclaimed today. I've only known her for 4 months, since it's December, but I feel a lot for her already. Just everything about her is beautiful, her personality and her looks. The way she does what she does is absolutely stunning. Just around the corner of her house, she stopped me in her tracks, peering into my face. Since I was taller than her, she had to look at me to directly stare at my face.
After she kept looking at me for more than a few minutes, I felt my face burning up, butterflies beginning to flutter in my stomach. I know I sound like a girl, but I haven't had someone look at me straight for well... Actually never! I stared into her milk chocolate eyes, as she stared into my own onyx eyes. The moment was nice, I thought it would be the nice time because of the perfection, so I leaned in, and kissed her. It was actually better than expected, her lips were soft, polished at that because of her lip gloss I'm guessing. I held her shoulders firmly, pulling her closer, as she wrapped her arms around my stomach. I honestly think that she was staring at me because she wanted me to kiss her. Luckily, it lasted longer than a few seconds, but then she pulled away. "I-I'm sorry," I stammered, quickly, looking upon my mistakes.
She simply smiled, and stroked my cheek lightly, "It's okay. I liked it." Then, wrapping her arms around my neck, she embraced me tightly, pulling away after a minute or two. We stood there in silence, back in the position of staring at each other. I couldn't help myself, I pulled her into another hug, kissing the nape of her neck endlessly. Pulling away slightly, I kissed her forehead, completing the moment. I slumped my forehead against her own, peering into her eyes once again. She smirked, and pushed me away playfully. "Alright, alright.. Good night, Natsu." She kissed my cheek, then turned to walk off to her house. I stood there, amazed and fazed. I chuckled, then watched her arrive at her house, turning back to me once again, and smiled.
Today was just perfect.
Hello all~! I'm truly sorry for not updating for what, like a month? I'm really really sorry for the inconvenience of not updating. And for this chapter, instead of making a chapter of the date, it was in a flashback. I tried to not use as much dialogue as possible, so you, the reader, would be able to grasp the warm feeling that both Natsu and Lucy share. I just wanted to let you know of that flaw. And btw, I started this the day after Christmas, because originally it was going to be a Christmas story. But I knew that I was going to get distracted, so I let you off on this. I will try to update next week as well, although I'm not making promises. Also, the month is December, so I could do a Christmas chapter, because this was waaaaaaay due. Thanks everyone!
