Chapter 12: Revelations
Natsu's POV:
I screamed myself awake.
I had a dream that Lucy found out about me putting the roses in her locker and such... Well, eventually she will, but just not yet. I already put about 11 roses in her locker, and she still hasn't noticed!
She probably thinks it's still Dan.
I've known Lucy for quite a while. And we haven't even gotten together yet! Ever single time the moment is in absolute perfection, Cana pops in out of nowhere ruining it! She keeps telling me to "wait and take it slow."
I already have Lucy at my grasp, I know her like the back of my hand! Why else wouldn't she had kissed me! Well, it's still true that I have to follow Cana's ways before she snitches on me by saying that I've been giving her money...
She promised me this would be the last time. The last rose. I already given her eleven, so yeah, twelve would probably make it even! I hope she doesn't make me put anything corny that it would be pretty obvious that her answer would be no.
"Natsu!" Cana called out to me as my thoughts disappeared, she pulled on my arm and dragged me into the bushes. "You've done well my pupil. Now, go to the convenience store and buy a fake rose."
"Why...?" I asked, completely absent-minded about this. I thought I was supposed to buy a real one.
She smirked mischievously. "You'll see. Get the rose, then come back to me. Make sure it isn't tacky!"
Lucy's POV:
"Yeah, and then you know what? Gajeel asked me out! It was so so cute, Lu-chan! He was all like 'Oh, um, I like you, go out with me please, shrimp?'" Levy gawked, bragging about the experience that occurred. "Then he was looking at me weirdly, because I was completely smitten! He is so adorable, my lone dragon." She sighed in delight, happily dreaming about her new boyfriend.
"You're so lucky.." I sat down on a yellow bench, relieving my stress. "I think I like Natsu, a lot. I feel it would be safe to say that I love him...? I mean, I know. It takes time to fall in love. But it was like love at first sigh, literally. He's my ideal illustration of the perfect boyfriend. So many moments we had and he hasn't taken the chance to ask me out! Maybe he doesn't like me..."
"Lu-chan, stop! I know he likes you. Isn't it obvious? He's head over heels for you, and it isn't his fault for not taking the chance. Maybe he doesn't know you like him back? Just don't worry, Lu-chan, I'm sure that he likes you, just wait for it!" Levy replied, trying to bring me confidence that he actually did like me.
I sighed in resentment, I was worried. "What about the roses? Maybe he's holding back because someone else likes me!"
Maybe I'm just bad at seeing, but at the corner of my eye, I could see a sweat bead drop down Levy's forehead. Whatever, it's probably nothing. "It's okay, Lu-chan, he's probably waiting for the perfect-perfeccccccccccccccctt moment." She stretched the 'c', as if she was hiding something. I gave her a weird look, but shrugged it off.
"Okay, I'm going to wait as you said. Let's just go to the convenience store, I'm kinda thirsty." I suggested, wanting terribly to avoid this conversation; I couldn't express my feelings, even if Levy is my best friend.
We finally reached the store, stopping at the corner to peek into the store's window.
I needed a drink, my favorite one in fact, Arizona Green Tea, yeah, I'll get that. Maybe get that fiery-hot gum that Natsu would always chew.
I peered into the store's window, making sure they had the drink before I'll go inside. I looked around, and my jaw almost dropped. Natsu was there, in the romantic entities aisle, to add to that, he was looking at fake roses in particular. He picked up one, turned it around, then put it back down. His mind was in a much diverse place, you could read it across his face.
I witnessed as he grabbed one, and went to the counter to pay for it. I then realized it. Natsu was the one who gave me all the roses! And Levy knew, trying to cover it up! Hmm... Let's just say I didn't see that. Okay, moving along.
Natsu ran out of the store, completely not noticing me as he ran down the road. His tone was much jubilant and joyful than the expression he shared in the store. I shrugged it off, I didn't see anything anyway.
The decisive day arrived, and I immediately ran to my locker, excitedly. I wanted to see the message, and I had a strong feeling that I would see the new note.
Frantically opening my locker, there it was. The fake rose. I couldn't believe my eyes. It really was Natsu, he really was the one who did all of this.
There was the usual note, and I slowly opened the paper, the lettering coming to appearance. I could see it, the words danced throughout my brain.
"'Cause all of me
Loves all of you.
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections.
Give your all to me
I'll give my all to you.
You're my end and my beginning.
Even when I lose I'm winning.
Dear Luce,
You'd probably already know who wrote this. It's obvious. But Lucy, I can't but feel so in love with you. Everything about you is perfect. I just love... you. There's no absolute reason behind it, I love you, because you're you. Nothing else. And Luce? You may think this is corny, but I promise you, my love for you will never end, only until this final rose dies. 11 real, and 1 fake, but they all express just how much I love you. You're simply amazing.
Natsu"
