Chapter 348
When the Three attacked the "Magick Shop" Joan and the others fought back. They had no specific plan, beyond survival. But somehow this fighting seemed familiar, through instinct, just not memories. The vampires were outnumbered more than two to one, but they were strong. Joan used the cross around her neck, and her lighter. Hopefully the combination of the cross and fire would keep the vampires at bay. It didn't frighten the Three, but the fire did activate the sprinklers on the ceiling. Just one sprinkler, but the water burned the vampire. Apparently Rupert arranged for the shop's water supply to be holy water. Joan's group were able to knock the other two evil vampires into this holy water. Riley and Malcolm helped Conner and RJ from getting into the water. Soon two of the evil vampires were dust. The third was incapacitated, in severe pain when the sprinklers stopped. Joan began questioning him.
Joan: What are you?
Leader: Go to Hell.
Joan: You're in a lot of Pain. Tell me what we want to know and I'll end your suffering.
Leader: Fine. I am one of the Three, vampire warriors in service of the Master. We were sent to kill you. We failed, we deserve to die.
Joan: Why does this "Master" want us dead?
Leader: You are killing his family. We were fools to think we could kill a slayer and others alone. But if it takes a hundred he will sen a hundred. If it takes a thousand, he will send a thousand warriors. You will never be safe, none of you. He will see you all dead.
Joan drove a stake through this vampire's chest and he turned into dust. Then it all came back. She remembered who she was, Buffy Summers, potential slayer. She knew who the others were, but another man came into the "Magick Shop." Only Rupert Giles recognized this man, Ethan Rayne.
