The rest of the Phantom Troupe that was in the hotel had taken us back to their base. There was many more buildings here than before. The rain continued to pour heavily onto us and the ground, at this rate; it really wasn't going to stop.
They led us into the dry building; the insides hadn't changed at all. It was still broken but now sported the smell if damp rubble. The rest of the Phantom Troupe in total was there. We were told to sit down by some rubble and wait there, for whatever reason and forever how long. I sat next to Gon and Killua, our hands still bound behind our backs by the thread and our bodies bound to us by chains. They weren't taking any chances this time as they bound the chains to the rubble behind us, using that to stop us going anywhere.
It seemed like hours before anybody spoke, and that was only when Pakunoda returned. She had explained what Kurapika's conditions were. It sounded flawless, they couldn't hurt us otherwise he would rid of their boss. The guy in the tracksuit crossed his arms across his chest as he took in the words Pakunoda said.
"Does he really expect us to accept those conditions? Tell us where he is, Pakunoda. We'll kill the kids, then deal with the chain user." The man in the tracksuit demanded quietly from Pakunoda. Gon and Killua seemed unfazed by the man's words, unlike myself who stiffened. I didn't want to be killed. If they wanted their boss back alive then it was wise to follow what Kurapika's orders were. He wouldn't hesitate, that much I knew.
"You're insisting?" Machi questioned him, looking at him with her same bored expression.
"I insist. If you don't tell us, I won't let you leave." He said to her, sticking by his own ground.
"I refuse to tell you where he is, and I am taking the kids alone. Don't interfere." Pakunoda said, standing her own ground against the track suit man.
Gon, Killua and I continued to watch the group go into debate among themselves, they seemed unstable without their leader; so maybe getting him back was the best thing for them to do. After all, they didn't like following Nobunaga's orders too much for too long and they couldn't decide among themselves what to do in fights unless a coin was involved. They were a strange group.
"Interfere? Who's the one interfering with our plans?" The man shouted at her. Machi glared at him as she turned her head towards him slightly more.
"Go, Pakunoda. We'll stop him." Machi said to Pakunoda, never taking her eyes off of the man with the track suit.
"Stop us? Are you trying to insult us?" Feitan questioned, concentrating his Nen. His aura began flowing off him calmly as he kept that same always worried expression on his face. In a way, I guess the group falling apart from a good thing; they couldn't do any more harm if they fall out with each other and disband.
Soon, Pakunoda, Machi, the guy in the track suit and the guy with long silver hair all began concentrating their own Nen. It looked like they were going to start fighting, all the while me, Gon and Killua continued to stay sitting on the ground.
"You're serious? I don't get it. Have you lost your minds?" The guy questioned them. Feitan looked at us from the corner of his eyes as we remained chained up on the ground.
"I bet they were defeated by the chain user before we arrived. They're probably under his control. This is a waste of time. I'll make them talk." Feitan said to the man in the track suit. That's not how Kurapika's Nen worked, at least, that's as much as I knew. I couldn't help but flinch somewhat, I wasn't sure if Feitan was planning on making us talk, or the three spiders; either way it didn't sound pleasant or like something I would want to witness.
"Is it really so hard to understand?" Gon spoke up. Me and Killua looked at him as he glared at the groups.
"You don't understand why Pakunoda wants to leave without a word? You don't understand why Machi is stopping you? You honestly think they're being controlled? They want to rescue your boss! Is it so hard to understand the desire to save a friend?" Gon shouted at them, moving about in the chains that bounded us to the broken rubble behind us.
"Shut up, kid! Are you that desperate to be spared?" The man in the track suit shouted at Gon. Without warning, Gon suddenly broke his chains into pieces, making mine and Killua's eyes widen in shock; Gon really was strong, a lot stronger than I first thought.
Gon stood up from his seated position on the ground, glaring at the man in the tracksuit and Feitan, his hands clenched together tightly into fists. He was mad, really mad.
"I'm not doing this for my sake. Take back those words!" Gon shouted at him, his face darkening with a glare. Killua and I continued to stare up at him until Killua sighed to himself and turned his head away, closing his eyes.
"Good grief." Killua muttered to himself and broke his chains. I looked at him surprised, although I really shouldn't have been; I knew Killua was that strong. I turned my head forward and took a deep breath, closing my eyes tightly and pushed my arms hard against the chains. I scrunched up my nose as I continued to push until I felt the chains give way. Opening my eyes I could see I hadn't broken them; but I was able to separate the links wide enough for the chains to loosen. I stood up, allowing the chains to fall off of me and hit the ground with a thud. The man in the tracksuit glared at us.
"I refuse. If you've a problem, come here. The second you take a step, I'll rip your head off." The man said as Feitan stopped concentrating Nen.
"Then I won't budge an inch! Kurapika isn't like you. No matter how much he hates someone, he wouldn't lose control and kill them without mercy. If he makes a promise, he will definitely keep to his word! After meeting him in person, Pakunoda knows this. If you follow his conditions, he'll return your boss!" Gon shouted at him, trying to reason with the man in the tracksuit. It didn't seem like he was having any of it though.
"That's enough, kid…Don't think you can say anything you want!" He shouted back at Gon, getting ready to step forward and literally rip his head off.
"But he's right! Kurapika always sticks to his words to matter what; if we're dead then so is your boss." I said to the man as well. It wasn't fair to let Gon have to deal with them alone while we stayed quiet; someone had to stand with him with whatever they were going to throw at him for his outburst.
Me and Gon stiffened slightly as the man in the green tracksuit glared heavily at us, taking a small step forward.
"That's enough. Let Pakunoda go." The man in the dungarees spoke up, never leaving his seat on the rubble. He lazily threw his arms over his knees as he looked up to the man in the track suit.
"You're siding with them?" The man in the green tracksuit questioned.
"Shal, right now, what would be our worst-case-scenario?" The man in the dungarees asked. It was the blonde with the very childlike voice that hummed to himself, slowly we were learning all their names.
"The boss is already dead, Pakunoda and the others are being controlled, we can't find the chain user, and the three kids escape…" Shal said, looking over to me, Gon and Killua. The three of us glared back at him, not being too happy about the amount of time we were being held hostage for. It wasn't an experience I wanted to be in again.
"Then, you've got it wrong. The worse-case-scenario would be that we all die and the spider perishes. By comparison, your scenario would be quite pleasant. Am I wrong?" The man in the dungarees asked Shal, looking at him through a small glare through the bottom of his eyebrows.
"N-No you're right." Shal responded to him, never taking his eyes off of him.
"I don't care about your reasons. You're being too reliant on the boss. If the Troupe falls apart as a result, that's the greatest betrayal you could make toward the boss. If we keep bickering, that could well happen. Cool off. Let them have their way…Pakunoda can take the kids." The man explained, looking back towards the whole group and us as he spoke. The three of us continued to hold our glares towards the members of the spiders, I didn't trust them; something told me not to and I wondered if Gon and Killua had that feeling too.
"If the boss doesn't return, we kill the members being controlled, and start to rebuild the spider. It's extremely simple." The dungarees man said to the group, who looked at him with mixtures of hurt, betrayal and understanding. This group really was a big mess without their boss or without coins to decide their fates for them.
"I'm fine with that. If that's what it takes to satisfy you." Machi said, placing a hand on her hips as she looked at the man with the green tracksuit. The man in the tracksuit looked back at Machi, gritting his teeth together with a hard glare; unimpressed by her words. Machi looked back at the man with the green track suit, her glare returning to a bored look.
"Well, I'm not being controlled, and it won't be easy to kill me." Machi explained to him, making the man glare harder at her.
A phone started ringing in the man's pocket. He took it out; it was the phone that Shal had earlier. He pressed a button, answering the device and held it to his ear.
"Hello?" He asked before falling silent, listening to the caller. The man glared at the phone and threw it towards Gon. Gon caught it with ease as Shal looked at the tracksuit man angrily.
"Don't break it!" He shouted at him bitterly. Gon held the phone to his ear as me and Killua watched him curiously. Gon stayed silent listening to who I could only assume to be Kurapika before answering him.
"Yeah, they're all here." Gon answered briefly, and then threw the phone back at the man in the tracksuit, who caught it with ease.
"Hey!" Shal shouted, getting annoyed that his phone was being throw around as if it was some cheap toy that could be easily replaced. The man glared at Gon as he held the phone back to his ear.
"We're following your orders." The man said simply to him before hanging up the phone, throwing it back at Shal.
"Hey, stop that!" Shal shouted angrily at him, pocketing his device once more, safe from being thrown by anyone else.
We followed Pakunoda without a word as she began to leave the building. Nobody else followed us as we exited the damp smelling, destroyed, building and entered into the heavy rain. Our clothes became soaked in an instant, as soon as we stepped out. We walked slowly towards wherever we were meant to be going, me and Gon standing one side of her and Killua standing on another side. Pakunoda couldn't tell us and that was fine, I was just glad that soon I would see Kurapika again and be out of the hostage situation.
"Why don't you run away?" Pakunoda asked us, making us turn our heads towards her over our shoulders. We looked at her confused and questionably with wide eyes.
"Run away?" Gon questioned her.
"Given my injuries, you should be able to escape. If you did, I would lose my leverage, and the chain user could kill the boss. So why don't you run away? Aren't you on his side?" She explained to us as we walked forwards in the rain. We stopped and turned slightly to look up to her, a glare on our faces.
"Because we're his friends. Because we're his friends, and we don't want him to kill." Gon explained to her.
"So we'd prefer this to be settled with an exchange." Killua explained to her, shoving his hands into his hoodie pockets.
"That way nobody dies and nobody has to get their hands dirty." I said to her, keeping the glare on my face.
"But you're part of the Kurta, surely this would be the perfect chance for revenge?" Pakunoda questioned me. I shook my head slightly at her, keeping a glare on my face.
"I want revenge of course. But we're exchanging hostages, so I don't want it to end in blood shed." I said to her sternly. We turned our backs on Pakunoda and began walking forward once more, heading to the meeting place that we had no idea about.
While it was mine and my brother's goal to get revenge on the spiders, I didn't want to see my brother kill someone; not when there was another way around it. I guess…I could say I didn't want to see them die, they were still people; people that killed, but nobody should have to die if it could be helped. I'm sure my brother somewhere deep down felt that was right too. And travelling with Gon and Killua kind of made me see it that way; I just hoped it never came to a decision where I had to kill someone because that was the only way.
Pakunoda took us to an airport. It was filled with airships of all different colours. We stood outside in the rain, waiting for instructions from Kurapika. Pakunoda's phone started ringing, making her answer it quickly. She nodded her head and hung up the device, leading us towards an airship that was dormant on the ground.
The four of us felt another presence nearby, whoever they were they weren't trying to conceal themselves; not one bit. We turned around to see Hisoka walking towards us. Pakunoda glared at him angrily, angry over the fact that he followed even though he shouldn't have. Me, Gon and Killua looked at Hisoka quite surprised either way, although it was something he would do we didn't expect him to actually follow. Whose side was he on?
"Why are you here?!" Pakunoda yelled at him as Hisoka continued to walk towards us, smiling widely, the same smile he always had and held something to his ear. It looked like he was saying something, but I couldn't lip read so I had no idea what was being said. He stopped in front of us as he continued to hold something to his ear. Now that I could get a closer look; it looked like a phone…was he communicating with someone?
"Allow me on the airship with them. If you refuse, I'll kill Gon, Mishka and Killua." Hisoka said, making me stiffen and a chill run down my back. Hisoka would, that was the problem; he would kill us. I could only assume he was talking to Kurapika; after all he was probably the only one on that airship waiting for us. Hisoka looked up at the airship than back at us as he continued to speak loudly enough for us to her.
"My target is the boss. Once he's released, I'll get off the airship. I want to fight him. That's all I want." Hisoka said through the phone.
In the end Kurapika, whoever was on the end of the phone, agreed to let the homicidal magician onto the airship with us. Me, Gon and Killua boarded first, then Pakunoda and then Hisoka. Killua, Gon and I sat in front of the double metal doors on the floor, with me in the middle of the two. Gon has his legs crossed and hands in-between them on the ground while Killua laid his back lazily against the doors with his fingers laced behind his head. He had one leg propped up and the other lying flat. I was sitting with my legs either side of me, my hands in my lap, watching the two adults closely and carefully. Hisoka took a seat and began shuffling through his cards; it looked like he was playing solitaire with himself, the lonely man's game, or so they say. Pakunoda was sitting on the other seat as far away from Hisoka as she could psychically manage while being in the same room as him.
The two airships stopped far away from the city of Yorknew. We landed after what seemed like a long time in the sky. We exited the airship quickly, not wanting to be near Hisoka, not that we had much choice now as Kurapika's choice of exchange was in the middle of nowhere on top of a very large cliff.
Killua's phone began ringing. He let it ring twice as he took it out of his pockets and answered it without speaking a word. Killua looked at the phone confused and then placed it over the top of his heart, making me and Gon look at him confused before looking over to Kurapika, Leorio, their boss and a very short man confused. Why would he need to do that? It was quiet for a few seconds before Kurapika broke it.
"Okay, let's begin the exchange!" Kurapika shouted over to us. The three of us walked together at the same time, as far away from the boss as possible as we crossed the giant cliff top. I felt nervous, would their boss try something? We reached the other side where Kurapika, Leorio and the very short man stood. Gon and Leorio clapped hands with each other as a look of relief came across Kurapika's face. I couldn't help but smile to myself and exhale deeply, closing my eyes. It was all so tense for just one night.
We boarded the airship and took off almost instantly. Me, Gon and Killua wondered about in the lobby area as Kurapika, Leorio and the short man went off somewhere quickly. I sighed slightly; it was nice to see him at least. We watched the airship leave the ground, making it smaller and smaller. Hisoka confused me; just whose side was he on?
Kurapika and Leorio quickly joined us in the lobby part of the airship. The two stood in front of us, Leorio with a wide smile on his face and a hand shoved into his suit pockets and Kurapika with his neutral expression.
"I'm sorry for putting you in danger." Kurapika said to us. Gon shook his head as me and Killua continued to look up at up with wide eyes.
"Nah… You used your chains on the boss, right?" Gon questioned him.
"Yeah, but…This isn't the end." Kurapika said to us, looking out of the window, and a glare on his face. He looked tired, really tired. I furrowed my brows; he didn't look too good or well.
"Hey, Kurapika…Are you okay?" I asked him, looking up at him worried. He looked like he was going to collapse at any given moment, and if he was sick than it must have been something bad because the last time he got sick was after we left Sarah's. Kurapika looked down at me and nodded his head.
"Yeah, I'm fine…" He said trailing off before shortly collapsing to the ground in a heap. My eyes went wide, I was expecting it; but it was still shocking.
"Kurapika!" All of us yelled at the same time, checking on him to make sure he was okay.
We managed to get him back to a very dirty looking place that turned out to be owned by Zepile, deciding it was better there. Leorio managed to find out that he had a fever, what brought it on was a mystery, but it was still there. Me and Leorio sat in a chair, me sitting on my hands to stop myself from constantly checking the fabric on top of his head to keep his temperature down. Leorio was leaning forward with his hands together, he was the closest person to a doctor we had at the moment; so it made sense that he stayed here. What I didn't get was why Zepile and the really short guy was here, okay it was Zepile's house but he didn't know Kurapika did he? I furrowed my brows humming to myself; it was weird seeing him sick, but I was determined to stay here until he got better.
Silence fell over us all as we continued to watch. Zepile decided to go off and do something else for the time being; the excuse being that his presence there wasn't going to make a different or not. I continued to watch closely with furrowed brows hoping that Kurapika's fever would go down soon.
"Mishka, has Kurapika been ill before?" Leorio questioned me, snapping me out of my thoughts. I quickly looked at him and nodded my head quickly, staying seated on my hands.
"Uh-huh. But that was a long time ago after we left Sarah's. Even then he didn't refuse to keep moving until he collapsed. It was after that that he decided to stop because I said he wouldn't get better if we kept moving." I explained to Leorio, glancing back at my brother again and swung my legs slightly backwards and forwards from the chair; more out of habit than anything. Leorio sighed to himself slightly, nodding his head.
The room fell silent again, the only sound being breathing from Kurapika and Leorio moving about.
"I'm going to go change this, it's getting warm." He said, picking up the small tub full of water sitting on the bedside table. I nodded my head slightly, never taking my eyes off of Kurapika. After Leorio left, it just left me and the very short man in the room. It was silent apart from footsteps coming closer to me. I looked over my shoulder slightly to see the short man standing behind me, a small smile on his face. He had long silver hair with a bald patch right on top of his head. His front teeth were long, like a mouse's and he had large eyes and large ears. He was about my height, being slightly taller than me. I looked at him questionably.
"You must be Kurapika's sister?" He asked me in a very gentle and feminine voice. It sounded like the voice that belonged to a girl called Melody that Kurapika spoke to over the phone. I nodded my head slightly at his question as he continued to smile gently at me.
"You two look a lot alike, you're hearts beat the same echoes as well; just yours isn't as violent as his but instead filled with more worry." Melody said to me, making me look at him confused. What did he mean by that? Did he have some really awesome power that listened to people's hearts? No, that was nearly impossible.
"I'm Melody." He said introducing himself after my confused stare. I looked at him wide eyed, he was Melody? So that meant he was a she? I quickly blinked to wipe away my surprised gaze and returned her smile with a small one of my own.
"I'm Mishka." I said to her then quickly looked back at my brother to make sure he was doing alright.
Silence came between us both once more as we just stared. Melody was the one to break the silence between us.
"He was worried about you a lot when you three were being held hostage. He explained how the Phantom Troupe knew about your scarlet eyes from a mistake; that's what scared him the most." Melody explained, making me look back at her over my shoulder slightly. I furrowed my brows slightly and frowned, looking back down at my brother.
"I don't want him to worry as much. He already does a lot for me. I want to worry for him though, even if he doesn't want me to. I think he just needs someone else to do the worrying." I explained to her, my eyes half closing. It was nice to know that he does worry about me; but with so much else going on I don't think he should have to.
"He's always going to because you're his little sister. It's just an older sibling thing." Melody said back to me making me hum to myself and nod my head. Not all siblings had that though; I know Killua and his older siblings didn't. It really showed between him and Illumi at the Hunter Exam.
"Well, it's my turn to do the worrying while he's sick, and then when he's better too. I'm even going to text him nearly every day to make sure he's okay!" I said to Melody looking back to her over my shoulder with a small determined smile before looking back at Kurapika.
"But it'll also be to let Kurapika know that I'm okay to and that he doesn't need to keep worrying about me." I said to her, although my words were quiet. I could hear Melody make a small sound next to me as Leorio entered the room with a new cold bowl of water.
It had been a few days since Kurapika collapsed. Me and Melody talked a lot when we did speak to each other. She was a really nice lady to talk to and she made me smile. At the same time she put my mind to rest about Kurapika and what they actually did regarding their jobs.
It was the same old thing today, watching Kurapika and changing his head rag to a colder one whenever the current one got too warm to help keep his fever down. It seemed to be working because he's breathing was normal again. There was knocking on the door making me and Melody look over to it as I was changing the rag.
"Come in." Melody spoke out just as I was putting the old rag back onto the side of the bowl. Gon and Killua entered the room with Zepile behind him, his hands in his pockets.
"Hey, Mishka! Zepile's taking us to get suits for the auction, are you coming?" Gon asked, walking over to me. I rolled down the sleeves to my training clothes looking at him questionably and slightly confused.
"Suits?" I repeated after him. Gon nodded his head smiling widely as Killua joined next to him.
"It's a formal event, so we have to look smart. Plus we're going to the auction straight after." Killua said to me. I furrowed my brows slightly and apologetically.
"But I'm looking after Kurapika." I told them, smiling apologetically.
"I can watch over him for a while myself while you go to the auction." Melody spoke up behind me. I quickly turned around and looked at her, furrowing my brows slightly.
"But then I'd be leaving my responsibility and that'll be rude!" I said to her. Melody just smiled slightly.
"I'll text you if anything changes. You said you've been planning to go with Gon and Killua for a while, so I'll make sure he's fine." Melody said as I nodded my head slightly. I guess I wasn't going to win an argument with her. I felt two pairs of arms around my shoulders and looked at the people they belonged to. Gon and Killua smiled widely at me as they turned around.
"See, Melody said she'd keep an eye on him so come on." Killua said as the two proceeded to drag me out of the room by the shoulders to go get smart clothing for the auction.
We had followed Zepile to a suit and dress store. He said the store had smart dresses and suits for things that were formal, such as weddings, funerals and of course auctions. He went to help Gon and Killua pick out suits, although the help seemed to be more for Gon who seemed a little bit overwhelmed by it all. I went off by myself to pick out a dress to wear at the auction. Not that there was much of a choice, everything was black or very dark blue. I scanned through the railings until I found something that I liked. I hooked it off the rail; it was a simple black wide strap dress that fell to my mid-thigh, like most of my clothing at the moment. It looked like it needed a shirt to go on underneath or it would be very close to indecent.
I kept a hold of the dress's hanger with one hand and went to find a shirt that I could wear underneath, although this was proving difficult. I furrowed my brows slightly as I scanned the shirts; why was it so hard to pick out a shirt?! I felt someone next to me and looked up to see Zepile with his hands shoved into his pockets looking at me questionably.
"What's the problem?" He asked me. I looked back at the shirts again, furrowing my brows.
"I'm not sure what shirt to go with this." I muttered to him quietly. Zepile raised an eyebrow slightly and took my dress from my hands. I looked at him shocked and wide eyed as he looked at the dress then at the shirts before picking one off the clothing rail. He handed me the items of clothing.
"Go find some shoes and either socks or rights and try them all on." He said to me. I nodded my head and turned around to go find some shoes and socks or tights.
I found the shoes and stopped in front of them. Gon and Killua were also picking up shoes for their suits. I just stared dumbfounded, why was there so many choices? Who would actually need so many pairs of shoes?! I would say Killua, but he was only like that when it came to clothes. I found a pair I like and picked them up. They were just simple flats with a strap and buckle. I quickly walked over to the accessories part, as for whatever reason socks and or tights came under accessories. I just decided to go with long white socks in the end; they looked like they would stop over my knees. I also picked up a black ribbon so that I could keep long strands of hair out from my face. Happy with what I picked out I quickly went to find a changing room to try on the clothing.
I found the changing rooms and quickly entered them. Going behind a curtain I stripped down and put on the shirt first, then the dress over the top then everything else. It all seemed to fit alright. I quickly looked at myself in the mirror of the changing booth. It looked alright as well. The shirt stopped just above my elbows. I nodded my head and quickly stripped everything off so I could put back on my normal clothes. Once changed once more I exited the changing booth, clothing in hand, and quickly went to find Gon, Killua and Zepile. We paid for the items and quickly ran to the changing rooms to get changed into them. It seemed like we were putting everything last minute. What came to mind quickly though was how did we have the money for Greed Island? Did we really have nine billion Jenny now? I guess I would have to wait and find out.
Once changed, we made our way to the auction house. I took in Gon's and Killua's clothing chose. They both wore the same suit with same white shirt and black bow ties with smart black shoes. It was odd seeming them both dressed up all formally; but I wasn't one to talk as I never dressed up formally myself. Zepile had left us to go do his own this at the auction house, being as he was after he own items. We wondered around the corridors of the auction house, trying to find where we had to go.
"The auction is in Hall B." Gon said as we walked up the corridor.
"That way. Over there." Killua said, shoving his hands into his pockets as we walked in the direction he pointed at. I quickly fixed the ribbon in my hair, making sure it felt alright and that nothing was falling out from it. All I had done was tie it into a bow at the back like I had my ribbon as when I first met Gon back on the boat to Dole. Who would have thought that we would be going to an auction together for a game?
We came across a set of double doors. Gon and Killua opened a door each as I stood in the middle. Once the doors opened it revealed a giant hall filled with people. It looked amazing. I looked at the hall wide eyed, my mouth slightly agape.
"Wow!" Gon said amazed.
"It looks amazing!" I said, looking around the hall. We entered the room and walked down the sets of stairs between the rows of chairs. Some people were looking at their watches while others were just staring at the front waiting for the auction to start. As we walked down we suddenly stopped and looked to our rights. There sat Feitan and the guy that was normally in a tracksuit. The three of us looked at them two wide eyed as we just stared before running back up the stairs at the speed of light.
We burst through the doors at the top of the stairs, busting out of the auction hall and startling some people along the way.
"Why are they here?" Gon questioned as we ran for our lives.
"How would I know?!" Killua yelled back at Gon.
"Maybe they're here to kill us after all!" I shouted back at the two as we continued running away from Auction Hall B. The guy normally in a tracksuit suddenly appeared in front of us. When we turned around the run the other way, Feitan appeared out of nowhere, trapping the three of us in between the two of them.
"Hey, that was cold. No need to run away." The normally tracksuit guy said to us, shoving his hands into his suit pockets. We looked at him with a glare as we stayed bent down slightly, ready to take flight once more if we needed to.
"Don't worry. We're not going to kill you." Feitan said to us simply, shoving his own hands into his pockets.
"Because we can't kill the chain user now." The other man said to us, looking down at us with a small glare. I looked at him confused, why couldn't they kill us now? Why couldn't they kill Kurapika now? Did Kurapika make himself immune to them somehow?
"Huh? What do you mean?" Gon questioned him, just as confused as I was.
"Huh? Didn't he use his chains on the boss? That means we can't kill him." The man explained to us, only confusing me more. How did Kurapika's chains work?
"Why not? Isn't it the other way around?" Gon questioned more as me and Killua stayed quiet, glaring at the very tall man.
Killua quickly looked at Gon, then looked back at the tall man in front of us when he started speaking once more.
"Nen doesn't necessarily disappear after death. Nen that's driven by hatred and regret can persist a long time after death. That Nen will direct itself toward the target of those emotions. Since the boss can no longer use Nen, he could be overwhelmed by that assault. Residual Nen can be quite fearsome. That's why we can't kill the chain user." The man explained to us. It made me think, if Kurapika were to die; he's Nen would still be active and attack those it's attached to…did Kurapika know that? If that why he's not afraid to die if he's done so in front of these people? I didn't like the sound of anything that was being said, it sounded dangerous. The man looked to Feitan, who stood behind us quietly. The hallways now empty, the auctions were probably beginning.
"I'm talking too much?" He questioned Feitan. Silence fell between us. The man looked back down to us once more over the top of his nose, keeping his hands in his pockets.
"So, we're done with you kids. We just came to enjoy the auction. The other members wanted to go home." The man said, walking past us slowly. We turned on our heels as we watched the man walk away, remaining quire until Gon spoke up.
"Um, what happened to Pakunoda?" Gon questioned, making the man stop. He looked at us over his shoulder and turned slightly so that his body was sideways to us.
"She died." He said simply. I furrowed my brows slightly and looked down, as did Gon and Killua. She was nice to us as we walked towards the airport, even though she was a spider; she was still nice…I felt bad that she had died and rethought my thoughts about Nobunaga's friend Uvo dying. They were still people and still grieved…it was sad when someone died, no matter who they were.
The man continued to look down at us as we stayed silent.
"What's wrong?Let's go." Killua said to Gon and me getting ready to walk away. I nodded my head quickly and looked at Gon.
"We don't want to miss our chance." I said to him, smiling a little bit at him. Gon continued to look down at the floor until the man spoke once more, forcing us to look up at him.
"Paku…Paku wanted to thank you." The man said as he closed his eyes and turned around to walk away from us, leaving us looking at him wide eyed and confused.
Pakunoda, wanted to thank us?
How could I hate her now…
