Oneshot 23: The Same Girl

by AshAnime

Mugen nearly choked on the piece of straw he was chewing on as a blood curdling scream rattled his ear drums. He sat up from his cozy rest on a pile of hay and peered out the stable's open doors. The place couldn't help smelling like shit, but it was the only location on that entire farm where he found any solace. A run down barn in the middle of no where should have meant more time to one's self, but that was far from the case.

For the past week Mugen had been berated by Fuu's annoying attitude even more then usual.

And now his nap had been interrupted by her ear splitting scream.

"She better be fucking dieing," he grumbled, stumbling to a stand and brushing off the hay on his back. He shuffled out of the stables and made his way towards the shitty old barn they now called home. "What's with all the screaming, girly?!"

Mugen stepped inside the barn, expecting to see an idiotic teenage girl holding her hand because she had stupidly hurt herself, but Fuu was no where in sight. He squinted and made his way down the adjacent hall, his hand inching towards his sword.

The girl was a magnet to kidnappers everywhere.

"Jin?! Is that you?!"

Mugen visibility deflated at the sound of Fuu's frantic voice and marched over to the barn's back door. Her flushed face peeked out at him from behind a tree. Their backyard was a large, dense forest that Mugen often hoped he'd someday get lost in. "What the fuck are you doing?!" he called, taking a step outside.

Fuu help up a single hand. "Don't come any closer Mugen. Where's Jin?!" she demanded.

He shrugged. "How the hell should I know? Why are you-"

"I had to go."

A sly smirk graced Mugen's lips. "What? Still not old enough to wipe your own ass?"

Fuu's face turned so red, Mugen was sure her head was going to pop. "I'm not in the mood for your jokes you big jerk! Now get me Jin or-"

"Or what?"

She thought for a moment. Her face scrunching up in that way that always reminded him of the furry creature she kept in her kimono. "Or I won't mention you to Hanako! Let's see how far you get without my help!"

Mugen quieted and scratched his scraggily chin. He'd been eyeing her friend with the big hooters for a while now. The brat made a very good point, and he wondered when her negotiating skills had gotten so good. "Fine, you win," he snickered. "But the thing is Four Eyes aint here. He went into town to take care of something. It's just you and me, girly."

Fuu opened her mouth to speak but a look of pain twisted her face and she grabbed the tree bark. Mugen reflexively took a step forward, but the samurai's daughter furiously shook her head. "Don't come any closer!"

He gave her an incredulous look and moved forward anyways. "What's the matter with you? You've been acting weird all week and now this crap?"

"It's none of your business!"

"Oh but it's Jin's?"

"Go away Mugen!"

"He doesn't know everything you know?" Mugen snapped, only three feet away from her now. "When it comes to bitches I probably know more then four eyes does. Either freeze your ass off out here or tell me what the fuck's going on."

His molten brown eyes didn't leave hers and finally Fuu sighed.

"I'm bleeding."

Mugen crossed his arms and tried to peer around the tree but Fuu quickly covered herself. "You're what?"

"I'm bleeding, Mugen! How many times are you going to make me repeat it?!"

"Alright, alright, I hear ya!" he exclaimed, trying to wrap his mind around what she was saying. Why wouldn't she let him see the wound? If he didn't wrap it soon she was going to bleed to death for fuck's sake.

"If you're just bleeding why the hell are you hiding behind a tree? Let me see the wound and I'll-"

"There is no wound."

Now Mugen was really confused. He scratched the back of his head while Fuu squirmed, her face only getting redder. This wasn't her sick idea of a joke, was it?

"There's got to be a wound somewhere," he grumbled. "Blood doesn't just come out of nowhere."

Fuu averted her eyes from his intense gaze. "Look, I'm just as confused as you are. Whatever happened to knowing more about women then Jin? It sounds to me like we're both clueless here."

Mugen rolled his eyes. "Well maybe if you'd let me see-"

"No."

"Why the fuck not?"

"Because I'm bleeding… from down there!"

Mugen's eyebrows scrunched in confusion and then his mouth formed a silent "Oh." When Fuu said down there she meant down there. "Is that normal?" he blurted.

"I don't know!"

Mugen looked at her like she had two heads.

Fuu sighed in exasperation. "Can you just get me… um… something to clean up with? A clean cloth maybe?"

"Sure. Whatever."

Mugen left and quickly came back with a rag from the barn. He through it to Fuu and waited as she ducked behind the tree to… clean herself. He tried to remember if any of this ever happened to any of the other women he knew in his life, but his mind kept drawing up a huge blank.

"I wish Mom were here." It was a faint whisper, but Mugen knew what he heard. "She would know what to do."

"Fuu-"

"What is going on here?"

Mugen looked up to see a pensive Jin standing in front of him. He held a small bag in one hand and a weird vase in the other.

"Jin!" Fuu exclaimed excitedly, peering around the tree. "You're back!"

"Yes." He nodded. "Yes I am. Why are you-"

"She's bleeding," Mugen interjected, crossing his arms. "Her lady parts are broken."

"No they are not!"

"Well then how do you explain…"

Jin sighed, desperately trying to tune them out. Today just wasn't proving to be the best of days for the stoic samurai. First, he went into town to pick up a couple of his favorite tea leaves. Then, an arm on his glasses broke when a rowdy young boy accidentally knocked into them. After that, he found himself in a creepy old shop with a creepy old lady who knew just what do. He tried to leave after he paid her but the women begged him to help her move a few things. Before he even knew what was happening, Jin found himself walking home with one of the strange lady's vases. "A parting gift," she had called it.

And now he had to teach two naïve nuisances what a cycle was.

Sure he had the same somber expression and placid tone he used for explaining everything else, but Fuu's eyes widened in disbelief and Mugen's face crumbled in disgust at what he was telling them. To a deaf person it probably looked like the most horrifyingly fascinating story in the world.

"You're shitting me," Mugen finally blurted, uncrossing his arms.

"It's the truth Mugen," Jin answered calmly. "It's nature."

"But why does it have to hurt so much?" Fuu asked him. She clutched her stomach and sighed. "And every month too? Jeez."

A smile almost touched Jin's mouth as he stared down at Fuu. He never had a sister and he doubted ever having children, but the young girl before seemed to have filled that void over the past year. Except she wasn't a girl anymore. "You're a women now," he found himself saying out loud.

Fuu stared at him in surprise and Mugen scoffed.

"Hear that Mugen?" she gloated. "Guess you can't call me girly anymore."

The scraggly pirate rolled his eyes and looked at her. He tried to see any difference in Fuu but decided she was still the same girl. The same girl that somehow tricked him into helping her find an elusive sunflower samurai. The same girl that threw herself on top of him, begging for his life. The same girl that called out to him, right when he was on the edge of consciousness. The same girl he saved from three crazies.

She'd always be the same to him.

"Mugen?" Fuu whispered. She felt her cheeks redden at the way he was staring at her so intently. The only time she saw such a thoughtful expression on his face was when he talked of Ryukyu. Something that didn't really happen often.

"I'll always call you girly," he muttered, finally breaking his intense silence. "Even when you're an old hag with twenty cats."

"MUGEN!"

Fuu slapped his arm but Jin clearly heard the smile in her voice.

In his own way…

Mugen had promised her forever.

Well this turned out a lot better then originally planned:)

For those of you who are just as naive as Mugen and Fuu (which is funny because you'd expect MUGEN to know about this after all of the women he's been with)... Fuu had her period. I called it a cycle in this oneshot because I don't believe they would have had the term 'period' back then, lol. And before you think she would be too old to just be starting her period please remember that every girl starts at different ages. Some people get it REALLY young, like 10. Others get it REALLY late, like early 20s.

Anyways please tell me what you guys think about this particular oneshot:) A lot lighter than the previous one that's for sure :P

Also, if you are a Naruto fan, I have also started a series of KibaHina oneshots:)

The fact that there are so many new reviewers has me smiling from ear to ear. Love you guys:)

New thing I want to start doing...

Question of The Day: What are some good Fuugen fics that you guys have read? (besides mine of course, teehee) I recommend "Expect Little Sleep Tonight" by Citadel. It's genius and soooo in character. It is now my headcannon for Mugen and Fuu. What do you recommend?

AshAnime: Mugen, Brittany would like to know why you wont say you're in love with Fuu. She feels that although Fuu can be annoying she is a very good person for you.

Mugen: *scoffs* Like anyone could be interested in her flat chest.

Fuu: Hey! Quit being a jerk Mugen!

Mugen: Quit being so annoying!

AshAnime: Ummm... guys-

Fuu: This is exactly why you infuriate me, but you know what, it doesn't even bother me anymore. In fact, I have a date tomorrow.

Mugen: *sharply glances at her* What? With who?

Fuu: None of your business!

Mugen: It'll be my business when the bastard pulls a fast one on ya and you're calling my ass.

Fuu: That wont happen!

Mugen: tch

AshAnime: Mugen... Are you... Could it be that you're jealous?

Mugen: *glares menacingly* Like I fucking care who this idiot decides to date. *strides out of room with clenched fists*

AshAnime: Yup, he's definitely jealous.

Bye guys and thanks for reviewing!

Don't forget about the question of the day!

And look, you practically got a mini oneshot there with all that extra dialogue lol.
