Chapter 358
When Andrew Hoelich woke up in the cage he saw Giles and Tara preparing their spell. He didn't know exactly what they were doing but feared this wouldn't be good. Even if they didn't kill him the Master was not very forgiving. Maybe if Hoelich could kill Buffy, but that seemed very unlikely. This vampire's cances of surviving much longer weren't very good. Buffy approached Hoelich. This spell would work better if Hoelich didn't fight it, thus she tried to reason with him.
Buffy: The Master wants to destroy all life, including yours. Way I see it, you got a raw deal, being drafted into his army. But you got one break, you got me instead of Faith, she's not big on un-dead Americans. You help us stop him, we'll let you leave Sunnydale alive, or un-alive.
Hoelich: You are a fool. You actually believe I would betray the Master. Resist destiny.
Buffy: I think you're afraid of dying, again.
Hoelich: There are much worse things to fear than death.
Buffy: Like the Master. What do you think he'll do when he learns you've been captured? You think he'll take your word that you didn't talk?
Hoelich: I will lay down my life before I betray him. If you think the Master is not more terrifying than death, than you really don't know him. But trust me when I say you're going to find out.
